We all got to eat and we all got to try
new foods. Which is why today we are
going to be playing a game of culinary
show and tell because we recently found
out that you can go to Facebook
Marketplace, simply type in foods and
there are a bunch of local people
selling delightful foods that you can
just go get, which is really cool cuz it
actually cuts out a lot of the middleman
and you can just get really interesting
things. So, what we did is we all took a
lot of cash. We gave ourselves a 10-mi
radius around the office and we went
forth to try and find the most
interesting foods to show to each other
under several categories. We have
international. We have domestic from the
US of A. And I will include Guam and
Puerto Rico inside of that copy.
>> That's good to know.
>> And then we have fusion foods. Very
prevalent Facebook marketplace. And we
have a food that really speaks to us
personally. You guys ready to do it?
>> I'm Let's do it.
>> I'm excited. I'm very I'm excited for
Calypsoup's borched. It's got a story
behind it. I love it. You love it. We
all love borched.
>> What is this?
>> Ladies and gentlemen, I want to take you
back to when we first started talking
about this episode because this is
Taylor's idea and Taylor goes, "Have you
guys seen all the food on Facebook
Marketplace?" I just scroll through it
for hours and I'm like, "What?" And then
I immediately go to Facebook
Marketplace, type in food, and the first
image that I see is a like 20 gallon
stockp filled with borch that says
authentic borched o old Russian family
recipe and I knew I needed to have it.
And and also in Burbank, you know how
much I love burbank. So this is a
burbank style borch. I picked this up
from Cleo. This is her vegetarian
version.
>> I've never bought soup in a park before.
Can I ask like where your family's from
or where are you from? Like
>> I'm Armenian, but I have Russian descent
in background. Oh. Um, I I do a lot of
Russian cooking. This one is vegetarian,
so I didn't put any meat in it,
>> so it's going to be just strictly
cabbage and beets, and it's it's more of
like a gut cleans.
>> It's going to clean you out.
>> I I can't wait to try it. I need to be
cleaned out. I got borched from Philip
Soups.
>> Veget, onions, potatoes, carrots, a lot
of dill in there, and beet juice.
>> Let's give it a try. She also said that
this is um this will clean you out.
>> Dude, I've been cleaned out too much,
bro. Tastes like what health is supposed
to feel like. You know what I mean? It
tastes like the ground.
>> Dude, it
>> tastes like Earth Day.
>> It does in a way that I love. I Do you
like beets?
>> I love when they have cheese in them.
But this is not bad.
>> So many bowls of this. The earthiness of
the beets with the sourness of the dill
and then the sour cream.
>> I I'm not a huge beet guy. Like I could
eat this whole bowl and it's just fine.
But I'm I'm not jonesing to go back for
another bite of dirt.
>> I spent $50 but on four quarts also.
Come on. You're paying for the branding.
Calyp soups.
>> Yeah. I'm I'm taking one of these home.
I'm eating this weekend.
>> Borch me up.
>> All right. What else we got?
>> Okay. Yeah. So, let me tell you a bit of
a story. Um, this was advertised to me
on the Facebook Marketplace as
dumplings. Um, and as you can see here,
there aren't any dumplings.
>> Yeah. No.
>> So, it's a dump of a lot of things.
>> Uh, yeah. So, this is just mackerel and
pork belly and then some
>> I have a question.
>> Yeah.
>> This isn't close to dumplings. No.
>> And
>> what was the conversation um when you
showed up?
>> Hello.
>> What have we got? What did we got?
>> Um we do have the brace pork meal and
the uh uh marinated
mir um mackerel grilled mackerel.
>> That sounds so good. Okay, I'm very
excited for this. Thank you so much.
>> Yep. Of course. Also the sauce on the
side.
>> Okay, perfect. Hannah, thank you.
>> Appreciate you guys. Thank you. I'm so
excited.
>> She told me about the food and I was
like, "That doesn't sound like
dumplings." And then we got in the van
and came back and opened it up and lo
and behold, it was not dumplings.
>> Did you tell her that's what you were
looking for?
>> She handed me the bag of food. I handed
her 28 bucks and then we went on our
merry way. What do you mean, bro? It's
Facebook Marketplace. I love Facebook
Marketplace and people selling food
through it specifically. California
actually made it easier for people to
sell food out of their home with cottage
laws during COVID. Which is really cool
because I want to take a chance on some
delicious like this is a delicious
looking healthy Japanese breakfast.
>> Yeah.
>> That you can get. You know where else
you get quail eggs with your brekie?
>> That's true.
>> Not Denny's. Not Denny's. Denny's.
>> Denny's is not on the quail game yet.
>> Is this like a meal prep situation?
>> Yeah. I don't know.
>> I can't even lie. I'm enjoying this.
>> I thought we were getting dumplings. Oh,
I love tomagoyaki.
>> This is really good. Can you eat it?
>> Oh yeah.
>> Okay, good. I eat this.
Yeah, that's really good. I love
eggplant. Okay, the eggplant. This this
whole little situation here.
>> I have dumb questions. Is this meant to
be breakfast?
>> I thought it was dumplings.
>> I You keep asking me questions like I
have I'm sorry I don't have more
information. I I thought I was
>> Well, you know, we've got ourselves I
think a classic case of maybe somebody
else got my dumplings and I got somebody
else's bento box and I hope that they
enjoyed the dumplings if that's what
happened. But this is just a delicious
little meal. V, what do you got? I
grabbed mochi.
>> Oh, come on, man.
>> Why are they so beautiful?
>> How did she even do this?
>> They're stunning. How was your How was
your meeting with her?
>> The interaction was very quick. Uh kind
of just was like, "Let give me my
money." And I was like, "All right."
Okay. So, I just picked up uh the mochi
from the Facebook marketplace. It's
called Momoi is handmade slow by nature.
Okay, cool. Wow.
>> This one's like marble. Got some looks
like dehydrated raspberries on this one.
Some chocolate.
It doesn't have a smell. These are
gorgeous. And I'm really curious to see
um what flavor she gave me. She said it
was a surprise.
>> It's a surprise. Oh my goodness.
>> Have this one.
>> I kind of want the marble one.
>> I want the blue one. I want a blue.
>> Wow. Like this is so beautiful.
>> I love I love mochi. It's one of my
favorite things.
>> But I specifically love mochi that's not
mochi ice cream.
>> Mochi ice cream. Not one of my favorite
things, but mochi filled with some sort
of preferably a bean paste. Oh, I think
I got a little matcha.
>> This one has like a cream. Wo.
>> Oh, yeah. There's like a peachy cream
one.
>> Switch.
>> I got matcha and there's something else
inside mine.
>> There's a second center.
>> M.
>> So, yeah.
>> I want this vibe right here.
>> Really?
>> I was expecting like a dense like a
dense bean curd.
>> Mhm. We're going to
>> Whoa, that one's so good. I really like
this one.
>> Is this pistachio and coconut?
>> I don't know. It's
>> Oh my god.
>> Oh my god. So, this was about 40 bucks.
I think it was worth it.
>> Presentation, right? It came in a cute
little pink bag. You know, it made me
feel like a little girly pop.
>> I just learned about that phrase. I'm
learning so many new words. You just
learned about girly pop.
>> Shut up. Shut up.
>> Oh, this one tastes like a smoothie. I
don't know if I love the dairy the dairy
creams in the mochi so much as I love a
dense bean paste,
>> you know, or a starch
>> like a nice taro. Oh, this is a Dubai
chocolate mochi.
>> Bro, that was a whole chunk of pineapple
I just got in there.
>> Doug, that's a whole Dubai chocolate.
>> This is the last one right here. It
looks like chocolate.
>> Whole thing going in.
>> I want it to be frozen. I think if I got
it like in a cream form like this, I
would freeze it.
>> No way, Kimabi. Wa.
>> We tried every single one. This one was
the last one.
>> We kind of We kind of went to town on
it. That was
>> We didn't try this one.
>> Hold on. We forgot one. Go stuff that in
your belly.
>> Is it dense? It's denser than the other
ones.
>> It looks like a some type of coconut
almond.
>> This is like It's Almond Joy. We just
had so many flavors.
>> This might have been the best.
>> I know. That was crazy, guys. We started
with borched.
>> Give our thumbs up over the one that we
choose for this round that we like the
most.
>> Okay. All right.
>> Okay. Ready? Three, two, one. Borched.
Mochi.
>> Oh, I know. The borch mochi.
>> I think we really all like the borched
over the mochi.
>> The borch was good. It was if I, you
know, am on a diet.
>> I accept that. That the mochi was really
cool. And what I love about it is that
it's got all the variety. So, you can
give it as like a gift box.
>> It's got the kind of like seas candy or
what they Joshua Early Russell Stover's
vibes, you know?
>> Man.
>> Yeah.
>> Fun time. Hey, strong start. I like
Facebook.
>> Pretty good. Pretty good.
>> I like what Mark Zuckerberg has done.
You're a big fan of Mark Zuckerberg.
>> Yeah. Let's talk about that. While us
humans can eat almost anything, our
beloved dogs shouldn't. Now, our very
own Tony's Dog Haku is getting some
amazing food thanks to today's sponsor
for this portion of the episode, the
Farmers Dog Fresh Dog Food subscription.
Now, Tony, I don't have a dog, per se,
>> but I want you to know, but I love that
you do. And I want what's best for Haku.
I always have, you know,
>> I hope you do. I hope you do.
>> We had Tony's dog, Haku, try out the
food. And I mean, look at how happy he
is. Traditional kibble is an
ultrarocessed food. The farmer's dog
fresh dog food is exactly that, fresh.
It's gently cooked to retain nutrients
and it's developed with the help of
veterinary nutritionists. Tony, is it
safe to say that Haku is enjoying his
new food?
>> It seems like he loved the fresh food
compared to his old kibble.
>> I love that for Haku, man. Give Haku a
nice warm hug for me.
>> Everyday I do.
>> Get 60% off your first box of fresh,
healthy dog food by using this link or
scanning the QR code and using code
mythical kitchen. Plus, you get free
shipping and 24/7 customer support. And
thanks again to the farmer's dog for
sponsoring this portion of today's
episode. And thank you to our guest
star, Haku.
So we star Haku got an agent yet?
>> Not yet. Sign him up. What's more
American?
>> Good oldfashioned barbecue.
>> That's what's in there.
>> That's what's in there. This is T's low
and slow barbecue. I met up with T and
Wanda in the park. They were super
wonderful.
>> We got the greens. We got the chicken.
We got some beans in here.
>> I've been barbecuing for about five, six
years. Real green beans.
>> I appreciate that.
>> Oh, wonderful. Wonderful.
>> We got some large noodles. Mac, some
potato salad. We got his cornbread.
Looks really different. Orange. Really
dark. We got beans. We got greens. We
got ribs. We got beans. Green. Bone app.
>> Okay. Everybody's going I can go in on
whatever I want.
>> Okay. Well, get in on this matter.
>> I love me a nice
>> ribs. Very heavily seasoned. Mhm.
>> You got some good developing bark. Not
great. Listen, I ain't no competition
barbecue reviewer. I'm a guy who likes
to eat smoked meats.
>> Let me see.
>> Yeah, this is tasty. It's really
flavorful.
>> It's a dry rib.
>> It's super seasoned.
>> M Oh my gosh.
>> I mean, this is only 21 bucks, too. And
like barbecue's expensive these days,
too.
>> For one barbecue expensive, bro.
>> Yeah. For the plate with all the sides
and the ribs.
>> 21 bucks. That's not bad.
>> A classic barbecue mac and cheese. It's
a brick.
>> Yeah, it's a brick. You know what I
mean, dude? I made a brick mac and
cheese before in my life.
>> I like a brick and brick and cheese.
>> Brick as in good or as in cold.
>> No,
>> cuz to me brick means cold.
>> Literally. Yeah, brick.
>> Okay. Didn't realize you're from New
York, bro.
>> Sorry. D New Yorker.
>> We're just eating. We're eating a good
time right now.
>> This is such a crazy line. I haven't
tried everything.
>> No, I understand. Actually, I $21.
>> I don't know what it is, but I love that
>> for $21. This is crazy.
>> It ain't got no grapes or raisins in it.
Ash.
>> Hey, Wick. Hold on. Well, I'd love to
Hold on. I've made a colelaw the other
day and now I put a bunch of raisins in
it.
>> Why?
>> Cuz I love raisins.
>> Oh god.
>> And can we talk about Can a white boy
talk about putting raisins in his salads
for a second?
>> No, he can't, bro. No, he can't. Sound
off in the comments if you want Josh to
stop talking about raisins in his
>> I genuinely love it. It's a nice little
pop of sweet and acid. Also very common
in North African and Middle Eastern
cooking. It's not just
>> I don't care what you're thinking.
>> It's not just a white boy thing.
>> Don't put on my salad.
>> Everyone use hashtag raisins are not
just for white boys are also popular in
North African and southern Italian
cuisine.
>> That's a really nice
>> I think we should use that hashtag to
spread
>> that get that trending everybody. Get
that trending.
>> Let's pickles.
>> Okay, I have pickles from Victoria.
Victoria, very nice lady. We met in the
park and I gave her $20 for this jar of
pickles. Oh.
Okay. Hi.
>> Hi. Nice Victoria. Nice to meet you.
>> Nice to meet you as well. Okay. What
What What got you into making pickles?
>> We just started to see how many dyes and
preservatives were actually in the
pickles we were eating and to see that
you only need a few ingredients.
>> Yeah.
>> It just made sense to start like I guess
making them myself.
>> That's awesome. Thank you so much,
Victoria. I appreciate it.
>> Of course. Do we hug or
>> we can hug? Yeah, that sounds great.
>> She was like, "You don't need a lot of
stuff to make pickles. I just want to
make them clean, healthy at home. And so
>> I have a question. What kind of bull
crap is she talking about in the
pickles?
>> I don't recall exactly dyes. I don't
know stuff.
>> They're dying the pickles now.
>> I don't know, man. I It's been a long
time since I looked at the ingredients
on the Velic jar.
>> Ash, can you do me a favor?
>> These aren't.
>> Can you grab me a jar of pickles?
>> These aren't Kool-Aid pickles.
>> Now guys, this was $20 for this jar of
pickles.
>> Why don't we see what the ingredient
What the bull crap that Victoria is
talking about is.
>> Give me a pickle. Cucumbers, water,
salt, vinegar, garlic, calcium chloride,
sodium benzoate, rice, mustard seed,
dried bell pepper, poly sorbate, 80,
olia, resin, turmeric. Yeah, you know,
there's some there's preservatives in
these pickles.
>> Okay, they've been pickling.
>> It tastes almost like a half sour.
>> You got the dill in there, you got the
garlic, you got the mustard seed. Can I
Can I Can I say something a little
critical? She said she said she was open
to critique. Victoria, I think what
you've done is is you're on a wonderful
endeavor.
>> What I think though is I think you need
to go back to the drawing board a little
bit on the aromatics.
>> You know what I mean? I think the
aromatics I think there's a lot of them
in there, but I think it comes through
with a little bit of a muddled flavor.
Is that an allspice berry?
>> Um, yeah. Do you want to bite it?
>> Yeah, I get it.
>> There's something that feels like
they're clashing a bit. The good news is
you can play around with stuff like all
spice berries
>> and you know bunch of dill, bunch of
garlic, all that,
>> but if they're not all working together
and sometimes it becomes distracting for
a pickle.
>> Yeah,
>> I love Here's the thing. I love pickles.
You put a pickle in my hand, there's a
good chance I'm going to like it. Unless
it's a bread and butter pickle, if it's
not a dill pickle, actually stay the
heck away from me.
>> Yeah, there you go.
>> I love all pickles. I love all pickles
equally.
>> Okay, good for you, bro. I don't care.
>> Let's try some dried meat. All
right. Got beef jerky,
>> guys. I got some beef jerky. I picked it
up at a church.
>> Okay.
>> Um Studio City, doesn't matter. Not
important. And the Okay, here.
>> So, this is two. And I wanted to give
you two more just in case you want to
share with anyone.
>> Oh, I will for sure. All right. I got
jerky. It's beef. It's dry. It's in
front of a church. It was $16 and it was
a project that her son was doing in
class and they make jerky five to six
times a year and they had a lot of
batches so they were selling them. This
the first time they sold them on
Facebook marketplace.
>> We got a science project jerky.
>> So it's science project jerky.
>> That's awesome.
>> Three ingredients beef salt pepper.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. And she said honest critique.
>> I will say you ever see a copy bar I
eat.
No, but this is people think but this is
good.
>> This is natural. It tastes like beef. It
tastes like salt. It tastes like pepper.
>> Yeah.
>> It's preserved really well. You got fun
branding on it.
>> I'm having a good time.
>> This is wonderful. Do I think that
you're going to threaten the Jack Links
Hegemany in the Costco? Not yet.
>> Not yet.
>> But you know, you could one day. And
that's what I love about Facebook
Marketplace.
>> Mhm.
>> A light and energizing snack.
>> I can't even lie.
>> I feel energized.
>> I'm kind of enjoying this
>> now. We've eaten all three.
>> Do we put our thumbs up over which one
we like the most?
>> One, two, three. Oh my god. Wait. Okay.
I hadn't decided yet. You guys went so
fast. You didn't You didn't.
>> How do you not know already?
>> I don't know. I had I didn't think about
it now. Now I feel bad.
>> Well, no. No. I I agree.
>> I agree. The barbecue's good. I just had
to take a second. No.
>> First, we need a bunch of condiments. We
got our Sriracha. We got our vinegar
sauce. We got our sweet chili sauce.
Hey, speaking of condiments, great
segue, Josh. Thanks, Josh. Me and Nicole
have a podcast. It's called a hot dog as
a sandwich. And we recently debated
ketchup versus, wait for it, mustard,
which is crazy. I know. People said that
we could never have that debate. And be
honest, no, no, no. Not ketchup. Mustard
versus mustard. Ketchup. We I take one,
she takes the other. I'm repping on the
side of ketchup because I believe
ketchup is the most important condiment
in the history of man.
>> I literally never would have thought to
compare those two condiments.
>> But now what we got here, so I was
really excited about this. So this is a
sushi bake from my home girl, Janisa.
I've been doing that for 5 years now and
it's one of our bests sellers.
>> Oh my. One of your best sells sellers.
What else do you sell?
>> Pork lubia and a vegetable spring rolls.
>> Guys, what are the ingredients in the
sushi bake?
>> Uh sushi bake comes with a sushi rice in
the bottom. Uh the protein is imitation
crab. It comes with a sour cream, cream
cheese, and a Japanese seasoning.
>> So Janisa was telling me that this is
actually a Filipino original. So this
went viral like 5, six years ago in
Filipino food Tik Tok.
>> This is Pinoy original.
>> This is Pinoy original. This is uh sushi
rice on the bottom, topped with
imitation crab. She puts some sour
cream, mayonnaise, and cheese in there.
Bakes it off, broils it, puts Japanese
like rice seasoning on top. Then she
recommended serving it with Sriracha.
May I
>> get a drizzle, bro? Get a look
beautiful.
>> That's crazy. That sounds good, bro.
>> And then she Hold on. I'm going to
crosshatch it.
>> I'm crosshatching some spice on it.
Sriracha ketchup.
>> And then we got the the seaweed for it.
Wait for it. Check this out, though.
That was $25. But then she casually just
brought out
>> What the hell?
>> Yeah. Make room a bunch of Olympia. We
got vegetable Olympia and then Olympia
Shanghai right here.
>> I know, dude. She was so sweet. I tried
to give her extra money and she like
utterly refused. She like genuinely just
seemed so proud to be able to make this
food. They do a lot of catering.
>> Yeah.
>> This is crazy. This is around four. By
the way,
>> this is so much food.
>> Oh my god.
>> Laps.
What the heck?
>> I've never had a sushi bake before.
Wait,
>> me neither. It's my first time.
>> You imagine just sitting on your couch
with this just slouch down Laker game
on.
>> Put it on your belly.
>> Bucket of seaweed just scooping it out.
Oh my god.
>> Re-watching Three Body Problem trying to
figure out what's going on.
>> Not Three Body. I want to try the loopy.
It looks gorgeous.
>> I just did the I sat down like this for
a bit and I don't know if I can get up.
>> Oh [ __ ]
>> This is meant for a party, right? You're
not eating. This isn't a lunch. Yeah.
You know, this is the whole party food.
Trevor's collapsed.
>> We still got more stuff to eat, so we
got to save some room.
>> What?
>> Bro, this is the best lumpy I've ever
had.
>> This is
>> This is so
>> Is Facebook Marketplace it?
>> This is I could literally just eat this
forever and ever and ever. This is the
the most perfectly seasoned lubia I've
ever had.
>> Here, open up the next one.
>> Yeah. Okay, so this is crazy.
>> Josh King of Kings Cuisine, which is
really cool cuz he's opening like a
little brick and mortar type thing.
>> Yeah. So, this is a Kai team breakfast.
It has braised Korean short rib. It's
sweet and savory. Uh fluffy custard eggs
topped with green onions, cheese top.
>> And then I also have a cilantro lime
crema.
>> Oh my god.
>> Oh my god. Sorry. Sorry. It's
inappropriate.
>> Okay, so it's short rib crispy tater
tots and then uh you said a custard like
whipped egg. So I assume that there's
like egg in there steaming. It's so
good. cross section.
>> There's sauces. These are $20 each.
>> This is so I don't even want to bite it.
>> My brother in whatever god you believe
in. This right here. This is gospel.
>> I've seen this dude. I've seen this dude
on social media. He has started to blow
up.
>> Oh my god.
>> And like very welld deserved. Also from
somebody who Josh Kang I 10 years ago
was selling burritos from my apartment
on Instagram cuz I had the Stony Bologn
artisal Jimmy Chongas pop up at
Smoresburg that would have leftover
ingredients and I said I don't want this
to go to waste.
>> Dude, I really
>> So this makes me like genuinely
emotional. Like this is what things like
Facebook Marketplace are for.
>> You ever just like can't breathe when
>> I really need to lay down. I like I Has
anyone ever actually needed to take a
nap in the middle of an episode? Cuz
this could be a first.
>> Shut the front door, man. That's so
good.
>> This is so good. Oh, he took his time.
>> Josh, you deserve $1 million cash.
>> You know when they say God took his time
with you. Yeah.
>> I mean this very truly. Like this is
what food and ergo life is about is
finding people who are making something
as cool as this.
>> If you have an opportunity to get this
burrito from Kang's Cuisine, you should
eat it because it's
>> it's
>> it's a heck of a good time.
>> Well, guess what? We got a cheesecake
right here.
>> Dude, what?
>> Hello.
>> How are you?
>> Good. How are you?
>> Is this the cheesecake?
>> Yes, it is.
>> Oh, these look beautiful. Can you tell
me the flavors actually?
>> Oh, yeah. So, this is a pistachio,
strawberry, mango, of course.
>> A biscoff.
>> A biscoff, of course. One of the most
popular. So, yeah, you'll enjoy every
piece of it.
>> Whole bunch of different flavors. 1 2 3
4 5 six. And then we have our one Big
John. She brought this beautiful
cheesecake out. And then
>> she brought some more beautiful ass
cheesecakes out.
>> Oh, I got a
>> uh passion fruit.
>> Mango passion fruit.
>> That's pretty good. I will say
I believe this to be a no-baked
cheesecake.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Which I'm not the biggest fan of. Oh, I
>> Cuz it doesn't have the stiffness that
you want.
>> I want I want it to be like cut with a
little bit of flour and I want it to be
baked just until it's a little bit set.
So it so you can get a clean slice out
of it. This is more like a custard
texture. No, I I love the custard
texture. This is incredibly refreshing
>> fire.
>> I think I'm leaning to the side like my
uncle's.
>> That feels baked. Or is that still Why
does this one feel big to me?
>> Oh, this Biscoff one. Oh my god,
>> dude. I have two I have two active
spoons. One is sushi bacon, one's
cheesecake, and I don't know which is
which.
>> Oh crap.
>> Yo, these mini cheesecakes.
>> These mini ones are better than that
one.
>> Big ass cheesecake fun. Bunch of mini
cheesecakes. Even more fun.
>> This is good. more fun. I like that
blueberry one.
>> I'm about to go nonverbal, man. I don't
even know.
>> Like, don't look.
>> Yeah, we need a backup. Where's our
backup for Trevor? Someone got someone
got a man. He's injured. Can I like do
VO later?
Can I just record some stuff later? Just
me in the VO booth. Wowee. That is yummy
in my tummy. That cheesecake is m
