( music playing ) We are here at the First Annual Burbank Doggy Dance, and we’ve got Monica Nolan here who is a doggy dance instructor from Dogs Can Dance, here in L.A. Who do you have with you here, Monica? I have Mikko, who is a 7-year-old Australian Shepherd. – And this one is Augie Doggy. – Link: Augie Doggy? Augie Doggy is 10 1/2 months. – Oh! Whoa! – So you teach people to dance with their dogs? – Oh, absolutely, yes. – Why? Well, I started because I could never get my husband on the dance floor. ( chuckles ) Better turn to the dogs. Yeah. Can you show us what it looks like? Sure. Let’s see. They’re a little nervous right now, so we’re going to give them some incentive here. Got a little fanny pack. Foop! Yes. Come up here. Whoop! Yes. Come. Come over here. Yeah. Oh, that one jumped over that one! Augie Doggy. Aw. – Link: Underneath. – Yeah! Underneath! There we go. Can you show us what you can do with some music if we were to… Oh, I’d love to do– Get this dance party started. – Okay, let’s go, Augie Doggy. – ( music playing ) Oh, wait a minute. ( laughing ) Go. Out. Go! Oh, she’s going to roll over. – Yeah! – ( applause ) Monica, you’re telling me that you can teach us how to do this with our doggy dogs. Oh, absolutely. Well, you can use one of my dogs. Oh, no, we brought our own. This is Jade and that’s Barbara. They’re best friends. ( dog barks, growls ) Jade doesn’t like any other people or dogs. – Okay. – ( growls ) – All right. – Link: All right. Okay, so the first thing you’re going to teach them – is a spin. – Link: Uh-huh. So you’re going to take your treat. Barbara, I have the treats. Barbara! I have the treats! Nice. Good job. Do you wanna teach him how to do it now? Come on. Let’s teach him. Barbara, dance. – Yeah! – Dance. Dance. Good girl. Jade. Jade, dance. Dance. Get out of Barbara’s way. – ( barks ) – Look at Barbara. Hold your dog. This isn’t your moment, Barbara. – Barbara, stay. – Jade, dance. – Barbara, stay. – Get it. Hold your dog, man. Oh, what, you’re gonna give her a whole bucket of something? That looks like vomit. This is wonderful. So put one on your finger. – Okay. – Ugh, cat food. – It’s liver. – Come on, Jade. – Follow it. – She’s like, “I’m not allowed to spin, Dad.” No, she knows it’s just going to come back around. Jade. See? There. I think once we get the music going… – Okay. – …I’m really going to get some dance moves happening. Oh, absolutely, absolutely. And you know what? Let’s make this a dance-off, where we’re both dancing. You be the judge, and then at the end, you crown the best daddy-daughter dancing couple. Okay, I think you’ve got your work cut out for you. You might need two of these. – Oh, yeah. – Take the whole bucket, Link. ( music playing ) Barbara, dance, dance. Barbara, dance, dance. Dance, dance, dance. Barbara, dance, dance. Dance, dance. Barbara, dance. Dance. ( dog barks ) – ( music stops ) – Oh, yeah. – There we go. – Good job. Good try. Yeah. – Rhett: Good girl. – She said, “Good try.” Good girl, Jade. Wow, I did most of the work. Whoo! Barbara had a couple of moments of greatness, but mostly I think she was just a little confused. You know what? You be the judge. Oh, do I have to be the judge? Yes, you have to be. Oh, well, I would give you an A for effort. Effort doesn’t start with an A, though. Ehh… But I really think that Barbara was the queen of the ball. – She was. – She was. – All right, Barbara. – Congratulations Barbara and Rhett. Take your crown. Be still. Be still. Be still. Be still. There you go. Be still. Be still. Just take it. Just accept it. Just accept it. Accept it, Barbara.
