GMM 1650: Can You Guess Who The Boss Is? (GAME)

Who’s the boss at guessing the boss? – Let’s talk about that. (upbeat music) – Good mythical morning. – Please give a warm mythical welcome to host of NBC’s A Little Late With Lilly Singh, our friend Lilly Singh! – Hello! – Hello Lilly! – Thank you so much for having me. – Yes. – I’m obsessed, I love, I miss being in this seat. I miss both of you. – Yes, we’re glad to have you. – It is great to see you. Now, okay, of course we have your book, How To Be A Boss, in our office. Now, do you think that you can look– – Is it a good coaster? – (laughing) No, it’s good reading material, girl. – We look at it for our boss inspiration. – I’m glad, thank you. – So, do you think you can look at a group of people, a boss and their employees, and pick who is the boss? – I think so, I think I’d be pretty good at that. – Okay, well let’s find out, ’cause that’s the game we’re about to play! – Oh snap, the segue. – It’s time for can we and Lilly spot the boss in the crew or will we get a poor performance review? Okay, we’re gonna meet a group of people that all work for the same company, except one of ’em is the boss of all the other ones. And we can ask ’em questions to help us determine which one is the boss. – Okay. – Okay, and if we guess the boss correctly, we get a point, and the points will escalate each round. And the winner of the game gets to rub elbows with Lilly Singh! Oh-ho! – Ooh, it’s tempting! (bouncy music) – [Stevie] First up, we have the team from a scuba diving school and supply store called Hollywood Divers. Please go down the line and tell us your names. – Uh, my name’s Billy. – I’m Tony – Berrick. – Hal. – No boss is jumping out at me, nobody’s screaming boss. – Wow. – Can one of you scream boss? – Boss! – [Link] Okay. – Oh, interesting. Okay, I think I already have an idea but I’m gonna… – You have an inkling of bossedness? – Or maybe I’m just trying to intimidate y’all. I don’t know, we’ll see, tactics. – Rhett, ask a question. – Uh, wow. Billy. – Yes. – You pee in your wetsuit? – Absolutely. – You pee in your wetsuit on dry land? Haha, yeah, got you Billy! – [Tony] Billy, you gotta be honest. – [Hal] Billy, be honest. – I’m not going to say that it’s a regular habit… – Oh, but you have? – [Billy] But, you know. – Hard to get off. – Sometimes it’s definitely hard to get off. – Yeah, yeah. – Okay. – All right, okay, I learned what I needed to. (all laughing) – So, let’s talk about aquatic animals for a second. You should all be quite familiar. Hal, talk to me. What kind of animals would you see underwater? – Octopus, giant sea bass, eels, turtles. – Where would you ever see a sea otter? – Sea otter? Northern California. – Okay, and what kind of sound would you say they make? – A sea otter? – [Lilly] Yeah. – Ahh, what’s a sea otter do? I don’t know. – Ha ha ha ha! – You should give it your best shot. – This is southern California, you don’t see sea otters in southern California. – Okay, but what if one got loose in southern California? – [Lilly] Mm-hmm. – What kind of sounds would he make? – Um, it would probably go like “caw, ca-caw, ca-caw” – Ha ha ha, so like a crow? – [Tony] I don’t know if that’s true. – Interesting. Okay Hal, nice speaking to you. – Sounds like an impersonation of someone who stays back at the office. – Yeah, maybe, maybe. – All right, so it’s Berrick, right? – Berrick, yup. – Berrick, let’s say that Tony here, you caught wind that he’s been stealing snorkels. I want you to let him have it. – Tony, why are you stealing snorkels? – They’re fun. (all laughing) I mean, my dad was killed by a snorkel, I’m trying to… – Killed by a snorkel? – Yep, trying to avenge his death. – [Lilly] This is a superhero story. – What is going on? – In light of that, I think we’ll let ya off with a warning today. – Ah, ooh, ohh. Berrick blew my mind. – Berrick fell for the dad killed by a snorkel sob story. – He didn’t care about the finances of the situation as well. – Well, it’s a snorkel. I mean, we don’t use ’em that often. – Okay, okay. [Stevie] All right guys, if you don’t have any more questions, why don’t you take out your whiteboards and write down your guesses. – Who’s the boss? – This is not easy. – Was I dreaming or did Tony say his dad was killed by a snorkel? – Yes, that’s correct. – That’s a tough way to go. – That is a tough way to go. – [Stevie] All right. – All right. – [Stevie] Rhett, let’s see who you guessed. – I don’t have a lot of confidence in this, but I have the most confidence in Hal. Hal’s the boss. – [Stevie] Lilly? I have full confidence in my answer that Hal is the boss. – Oh no, guys. Tony is the boss. – [Stevie] Will the real boss please step forward? (Lilly gasps) (all laughing) – Aww, dang it! – I got– – You guys are good, you guys are good. – You know how I knew? It’s because of how they’re standing. Because you three were standing like this, and you just had your hands in your pockets. – Oh, boss hands. – Yeah, you had the boss stance of like… – Boss hands in the pockets. – Yeah, I’m used to delivering the information, they’re in the stance of receiving information – Ohh. – That’s a very interesting interpretation of that, but. – Psychology degree coming at ya, right here. (bouncy music) – [Stevie] Okay guys, this round is worth two points, so there’s a lot more on the line – Right. – Okay. – [Stevie] Standing in front of you is the team from boba and coffee shop, The Boba Guys. Please go down the line and let us know your names. Hi, I’m Yesl. – [Link] Yesl. – Hello, Luis. – [Lilly] Luis. – Hi, I’m Mirley. – And hi, I’m Kat. – All right, so the Boba Guys, mostly not guys. – [Lilly] Hmm, interesting observation. – Boba Guys, we sell boba but not the guys. – Dang it. – Oh, catchphrase. – Dang it. – You’re pretty bubbly, Mirley, I don’t know if that’s boss bubbly or employee bubbly. – [Lilly] Hmm. – Is there a difference? – I think so. – Okay. You got a question for ’em Link. – Uh, Kat. – [Kat] Yes. – Do you ever, or have you ever, partaken of boba from another place? – Yes, yes I have. – Why? – Well, you have to know the competition, right? – All right, so then you come back and you report your findings? – Yeah. – To, uh, who? – You can’t answer that. Come on, man. Too direct, I object. – Uh-huh. – Okay, all right, sustained. Lilly? – Okay, um, my question is for Luis, how you doin’ my friend? – I’m doing good, and you? – Okay, I got a question for you. Let me paint you a picture. I’m in your store, I’m causing a ruckus, I’m being rude and disrupting all the other customers. Kick me out of the store. – Excuse me, ma’am. I’m sorry but you’re like being a little bit rude to your customers. We’re just trying to display like a nice image here. – Wait, this is Lilly Singh from A Little Late With Lilly Singh, do you know who you’re talking to? – Nope, and that’s okay, and that is okay. – I’m gonna be like, I know you’re Lilly Singh and that doesn’t matter here, but I’m asking you to leave, so. – Oh, okay. – What? – And what do you say? – I respect that, I respect the hell outta that, young man, good job. – In such a gentle way, though. – So you’re just leavin’? – Absolutely. And if he put his foot down, I’m gonna walk away like this. That’s what I would do. Good job. – Thank you. – [Lilly] All right. – Okay, I’ve got a question for Mirley. Mirley, let’s say I come in the store and I get the smallest, most basic boba. I want you to upsell me. – Okay, so we have our classic black tea, that’s actually one of the drinks we started off as a company. We call it the OG, the original gangster, so that means it’s been around since we were founded. It’s the most popular, you can customize it with milk, sweetness, toppings, more ice, less ice, we can even make it a large for just a dollar. – More ice or less ice? – [Mirley] Yes, we got you. – Wow, that was a great upsell. – And Yesl, I’m choking on Boba. What do you do? Who do you call? – I do the Heimlich maneuver on you, we’ll call 911 to get you assistance. – What, did you say Uber on me? – No, Heimlich maneuver. – She said Heimlich. – I thought she was trying to call a Uber, get this choking dude outta here. – Sorry, you need an Uber. – [Stevie] All right, I think we’ve gone far enough here. Please write down your guesses. – This is tough. – This is not easy – This is a tough one. – But… – Huh, I think… Hmm, okay, here we go. – This is, I feel pretty good about this. – I think I feel good about this, too. – [Stevie] All right, Link we’re gonna start with you. – Yesl. – [Stevie] Lilly? – Mirley. – [Stevie] And Rhett. – Mirley. – Wow, we’re on the same page. – Mm, we are. – [Stevie] Will the real boss please step forward? – Ahh! – Ohh! – Dang! – We were all afraid to pick the guy, let’s be honest. – 100%, that’s exactly what it was. – Actually, I’m kidding with y’all, it’s actually Yesl. – Ohh! – Boom! – Okay, wow! – How did you get that? – With the choking thing, she stayed cool. – You thought she said Uber. – That’s real cool. (bouncy music) – [Stevie] It’s still anyone’s game because this last round is worth three points. – Uh-huh – Ooh. – [Stevie] Meet the team from the online CBD apothecary, Fleur Marche. Please go down the line and tell us your names. – Meredith. – Lauren. – Emma. – Ashley. – Fleur Marche, is that French for something? – I hope so. (laughing) – What does that mean? – Marketplace, loosely. – [Link] What? – Marketplace, in loose French, basically. – I thought it meant stomp on flowers. – See how Meredith just jumped in to answer the question? No big deal. – [Rhett] Right, right, right, right, right. – Let me dive right in here. Meredith, we’ll start with you. Let’s say you’re having a day off, you decide to go up into the club, and you run into Emma. How do you react to seeing Emma in the club? – Hey Emma, what’s up? – Hey girl, hey. – Want some of my bottle? – What? – Ooh, she got money for bottles, interesting. Interesting, okay. – You just carrying a bottle in the club? – Money for bottles. – Some of my bottle. – And how would you react back? – Um, no thanks, I’ve got one of my own. – Ohh! – I need to work for y’all. How do I work for your company? – Everybody’s got their own bottle at the club. – I mean, it should be real low-stress at a CBD spot. – Yeah. – Okay, okay. – Okay, um, Ashley, I’ve done something. Let’s say I work for you, I’ve done something unacceptable. I want you to fire me. – [Link] What have you done? – What have you done? Yeah. – I brought the bottle to work. – Rhett, while this is not a drug-free environment, this is an alcohol-free environment. (all laughing) Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave. – Oh, wow. Can I take some ointments with me? – Yes, everyone gets whatever they want on the way out. – I need to work for this company! – Yeah. Even when you get fired, you get prizes. – And you didn’t even get fired, you were just asked to leave. That could mean anything. – Oh, wow. – Yeah, that was real nice. – Okay. – Yeah. – That’s like the nicest firing ever, Ashley. – Appreciate that. – Lauren, why don’t you turn to Emma and ask her for a raise. – I have been carrying things the past few weeks. I’ve been basically carrying the team on my back. – Dang! – And I really think I deserve a raise for all the things I’ve been doing for this company. – Emma? – Ha ha ha. – We sincerely appreciate everything that you’re doing and we will evaluate at the next checkpoint. – Oh, checkpoints. – Checkpoint, interesting. Okay, all right, so she’d bring a checkpoint into this. – I don’t feel like a normal person uses that word. – She knows about checkpoints, guys. – [Stevie] Okay, do you guys have all that you need to write down your guesses? – I think so. – Who’s the boss? – Again, the body language. Oh, don’t adjust now. – All right, this is difficult, right? – This is tough, this one’s really tough. – Yes, I think so. I don’t, yeah I’m unsure. – [Stevie] Here we go. Lilly? – Emma, I think it’s Emma. – Why? – Well, a few reasons. One, the checkpoints, really, and I feel like when Ashley was firing you, I feel like Emma wanted to say something. Her face wanted, she wanted to interject, like, no, this is how it should happen. I just sensed that, so. Also, the body language. I feel like her hands are very relaxed. – Okay, I agree. I also said Emma because of the checkpoints. – Um, and I went– – She ain’t gonna give a raise immediately. – I went with Meredith just because the way she pitched in at the beginning and explained the company. – [Stevie] Will the real boss please step forward? – [Lilly] What? – Ashley! – Ahh! – I’m Ashley, and I’m the boss. – Are you fakin’? – No, for real. – You’re such a nice boss. – None of us got it. – You fired me so gently. – [Stevie] Well actually, the bigger shock is that Link, you won the game. – Ha ha, hey! That means you get to rub elbows. – I’m the boss! – You get to rub elbows with Lilly Singh! – I didn’t moisturize this morning, we might start a fire here, but. – All right. – Very sweatshirty. – Congratulations Link, and thank you Lilly for being here. Make sure you check her out on A Little Late With Lilly Singh on NBC. – Thank you for liking, commenting, and subscribing. – Now you say, you know what time it is. – You know what time it is. – I’m Abbie. – I’m Annie. – And I’m Ellen. – And we work at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, Washington.
