Today, we get more vanilla-y than we already are. – Let’s talk about that. (Good Mythical Morning Opening Theme) Good Mythical Morning. – Today, our ice cream tournament takes a turn for the classic because we are venturing into the land of classic vanilla, to find which creamy treat is the one to beat, and I dare you to find a better pair of vanilla judges. – (chuckles) Welcome to day three of Take It to the Scoop eight vanilla based ice creams are going head to head in what is sure to be one creamy mess. But, only one will become the queen bean of its bracket, securing itself a spot in the frozen finale. It’s time for Take It to the Scoop, National Ice Cream Tournament, Vanilla Region! – You know what happened to Dick Vitale’s voice? I’m just telling ya, you don’t want to disintegrate. – I think, I love what happened to his voice, I’m trying to make it happen to mine! Okay, just to recap, we’ve got our bracket, and if you look you’ll see we’ve got four ice cream regions chocolate, fruit, vanilla and miscellaneous, y’all voted on the top eight from each category which we seeded into our bracket and today we’re determining which vanilla ice cream we’ll send to the frozen finale. – Now, we’re putting anything into this bracket with a vanilla or plain cream base that’s not anything to do with fruit ’cause we already done that, that is our vanilla region and the eight seeds are, Breyers Oreo Cookie and Cream. – [Rhett] Dreyer’s Butter Pecan. – [Link] Blue Bell Cookies and cream. – [Rhett] Dreyer’s Cookie Dough. – [Link] Breyers Chocolate chip cookie dough. – [Rhett] Haagen-Dazs Dulce de leche. – [Link] Haagen-Dazs vanilla. – [Rhett] And Tilamook old-fashioned vanilla. – Let’s eat some vanillas. (competition bell dinging) all right, we’re starting off with a top ranked seed in this category, with 18,181 votes, Breyers Oreo Cookies and Cream we got some double branding in here, versus the lowest ranking seed, 6,263 votes for Dreyer’s slash Eddie’s Butter Pecan, Butter Pecan, say it how you wanna say it. – I think my rule is, I say butter pecan when referring to an ice cream and pecan when I’m referring to the nut. – I agree with that. Now this is, this has basically become a classic flavor. You know, if you can’t pay for the Oreo name, you just call it cookies and cream and leave it at that. – What’s not to love about that? I mean it’s a collab. One of the original collabs. – Yeah, before everyone started doing that. And then over here– – I like it, I love it. – Now I’m gonna get some pecans in my butter pecan. – They used to have this at the golf course, remember that? – [Link] Oh really? – At the pro shop, they had the, they had the butter pecan. Whoop, it’s about to slide right off. – I don’t really understand what the flavor of the ice cream actually is, is it butter? – Butter, oh, that’s oh, this is tough. – I’m voting for the Oreo, just because– (Rhett chuckles) – That simple? – I don’t, I don’t, I just don’t like it. It’s good for what, it’s probably the best, one of the best versions– – I love it, it’s bringing back lots of memories but, this is like a almost perfect ice cream. I don’t feel like I can knock it off. I think we’re in agreement, send in Oreo Breyers onto the next round. – Chase don’t strain yourself too hard but move it on over okay. – This will be so easy just do a spin move. Yeah, oh look at that, look at that. (competition bell dinging) Next up, the two middle seeds, the fourth seed with 12,677 votes Blue Bell Cookies and Cream versus our fifth seed with 10,358 votes Dreyer’s Cookie dough. – Now they cannot use the Oreo because Breyers got the jump on them. – So they’re getting some just generic stuff up in here? – Hmm, that’s good. There is a nice mixture of big chunks and little specks. – There’s a lot more specks in this. Like they got it all throughout. – Now over here, they have Nestle Tollhouse brand Cookie Dough. – Collab time, oh, sorry. – You know we’re a sucker for a good collaboration. – That’s a good ice cream. – All right the cookie dough is killing it, it’s really good, I’m a sucker for cookie dough, I love cookie dough, I actually get frustrated when I don’t have, there’s not more in the ice cream. But something about that– – But the Blue Bell rang us so hard. In the last one. – In the fruit? – In the fruit region. That I got a lot of respect for the bell. – This, it becomes one thing and not just two things mixed together. I’m voting for the cookies and cream. – What if Blue Bell and Taco Bell did a collab, what would you call it? Blue Taco? – Are you voting with me or not? – Uh? (crew chuckling) Yeah I like this better. – The Blue Bell moves on. (wooping) – All right. – That was cool, it looked like a magic trick, came right out of your butt. (competition bell dinging) head on over to the Mythical Kitchen where Josh is cooking up a delicious and nutritious chocolate coffee french dip sandwich. What? – We tasted it, we make an appearance in the video, it’s very good. Now next up is seed number three. – Our appearance or the sandwich? – Both are very good. With 12,981 votes it’s Breyers chocolate chip cookie dough versus seed number six with 8,696 votes, Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche. – Exactly. – Imma dulce de let ya taste it. All right, now the cookie dough looks bigger in the Breyers. Than we had it with the Dreyer’s. – It doesn’t taste good though. It doesn’t taste good. Ugh this is the first ice cream I hate. (crew chuckling) Like this is the first ice cream. – What is wrong with this? – Y’all got– – The vanilla doesn’t taste right. – Something happened y’all, something went wrong with this batch of cookie dough. Or maybe it all taste like this. This is a big miss Breyers. You heard it here. – That’s odd. – It tastes like when you leave ice cream in your car for a week ’cause you forgot to take it out, and then you’re like, maybe I can refreeze it. – I’ve never have Dulce de Leche ice cream and I’ve never said it apparently. – (chuckles) that’s evident. – Now I don’t know what Dulce de Leche is, I’m just going purely off of taste. – Oh, that’s smooth and nice. It almost has a cotton candy thing going on. – It’s caramel, is it just caramel? What, is that, is this another language for caramel? – Pretty much. – Well it’s good. – I’m getting confused looks, which I’m gonna take that as a yes. That’s really good, but it– – Oh sweetened milk with sugar, and sometimes vanilla. – Exactly, caramel. (chuckles) – But there’s caramel on the picture man. – It could taste like the bottom of a dumpster and it would be better than this so. – Yeah the Haagen-Dazs has gotta move on. I didn’t think this was gonna happen. No cookie dough has moved forward. – Cookie dough – I’m appalled. – Got stopped in its tracks. (competition bell dinging) All right, next match up is a number two seed with 13,299 votes, Haagen-Dazs vanilla and our seventh seed with 8,389 votes, Tillamook, old-fashioned vanilla – vanilla versus vanilla, and look at the color difference. – [Rhett] One’s a little more yellow – Yellower. So these are the vanillas that we have. – We know that we like Haagen-Dazs, we’ve been impressed with it before. – Haagen-Dazs is pricey it’s the most expensive that we’re tasting today. – [Rhett] It’s fancy. – Really good vanilla ice cream almost has, there’s like a little bit of saltiness to it, if you know what I mean, it’s like. This is a lot creamier and cloud, it’s like floating on a cloud. – But you know, Tillamook, when I think of Tillamook, I think of the cheese section. They got big blocks of cheese, like bricks of cheese. You know what I’m talking about? You ever go to that cheese section and just sniff? – It seems like there’s just more air in this. I do know what you’re talking about. – I think the exact opposite. – That’s weird Rhett, because– – That feels creamy, creamy and thick, and this feels more like ice which means, less air but more water. – Okay, I agree with that, this one tastes, to me, twice as good as the Tillamook. It’s clear that it’s a better tasty. – It’s not clear to me, I like that one better. – What are you going off of? – Taste mouthfeel, expectations. – Whatever okay, we need a tie-breaker on this one? – (laughs) I think we do. Let’s welcome the Prince of Preservation, the Honorable Alagark of Ohie Valley the troublemaking taxidermist, he may look like a normal man, but nope, it’s Chuck Testa! (crew clapping and cheering) – [Link] Yeah, come on over Chuck. Chuck is in the house y’all. – Chuck is stuck. – You know as frustrated as I was, I’m now just that happy to have you here Chuck. – Good to see you Chuck. – With your doggy, look at him. – Not as happy as I am to be back. – Yeah man. We made a commercial with Chuck Testa. – Who’d you bring with ya this time? – The one I always bring, Digger. – All right we got Digger. – He, I’m a, what do you call it? I’m a certified therapy human. – (chuckles) it’s a reverse of the normal thing. All right we got two vanillas okay? We got Haagen-Dazs, we got Tillamook, do not let Link tell you anything about what he thinks about these just let your tongue do the talking. – Okidoke. – I’m not gonna tell him anything because I know that Chuck knows good when he tastes it. – Well yeah, that’s why you called me, right? – That’s why we called you. – I worked in an ice cream store since I was like 10. – Oh, oh, oh, you. (Digger grunts) – Is that you grunting or your dog? – I thought it was you Link. – He’s not grunting, he’s, something. That’s pretty good. – It’s pretty good. – Now try this one, don’t eat, you need a new untainted spoon. – Oh that’s right, I forgot, do you have to have crackers and water between? – No, no. (Rhett chuckles) – I love the sounds that your dog makes. – Yeah. Don’t let him distract you. (Digger grunts loudly) (Rhett laughs) The heck was that? – All right, so, what’s this one doing to you? – Is your dog okay? – Yeah no he’s fine. (Rhett laughs) if he gets annoying I’ll make him sit in a corner. – I mean any threat to an animal by a taxidermist needs to be taken uh, very seriously. – Can I try this one one more time? – Yeah, you can try ’em both. – Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. – But we need a final decision– – Hold on, let him taste it. – In five, four, three, two, one! – I’m going with the Haagen-Dazs. – Yes! (Rhett laughs) it’s a lot better right? – Yeah. – Okay Chase, the Haagen-Dazs moves on. – [Rhett] Okay. (Digger grunting) (laughing) (competition bell dinging) – All right now we got the battle of the cookies and cream, Breyers with the Oreo versus the Blue Bell, and we’re gonna go back in here. Of course it’s the official Oreo, that’s gonna make a difference. – It’s good, I mean, I’m trying to figure out if I can taste the difference in the Oreo. – Cause Blue Bell, according to my notes they bake their own cookies to use in their ice cream. And they claim they were the first to create this flavor, and I’ll tell you right now– – The creaminess of this, I don’t know if the cookies are better, but the cream part, which is half of it, is better, clearly with the Blue Bell. – Uh yeah, this is a lot tastier. Chase we gotta move the Blue Bell on again – Really, that was fast. – Blue Bell continues its strong showing. (competition bell dinging) – All right now we got Haagen-Dazs verus Haagen-Dazs. The Dulce de Leche and the vanilla. – It’s nice to know that the brand is gonna win a round. No matter what we choose. – That’s a rich ice cream. – Yeah, one of my favorite ice creams, which is not even in the tournament is the hum, the cinnamon buns from Ben and Jerry’s, that’s one of my favorites this actually reminds me of it a little bit. The bestselling ice cream out there in terms of flavors is vanilla, you really can’t deny that though. – ’cause it’s a fact. – It is a fact. – I could deny it but– – We can’t deny it as a fact– – It would still be true. I’m gonna say that, I definitely, if given a thousand different choices. If I was given this choice a thousand times, at least 900 of them I would choose the Dulce de Leche, because I like the flavor, I like it because it’s exciting, but we are in the vanilla category and I know that you really love that vanilla. If you wanna spend some quality time with it after this, then it’s fine. – No, I’m gonna vote for the Dulce de Leche, or Dulce de Leche as I sometimes call it correctly. You agree? – Yeah I agree. – Look how happy you are. Yeah, I learned something, I actually like this stuff. – (chuckles) okay. – Yes, move it on, it’s got flavors. (competition bell dinging) I feel like I’ve hit a wall made of udders. – Which one did you squeeze? – Our final match up is Blue Bell Cookies and Cream versus Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche or Dulce de leche or Dulce de leche. (exhales loudly) ah yeah, this right here. Make me happy. – It’s still good, it really is. – It’s still good. You know this is Haagen-Dazs third most popular flavor behind vanilla and cookies and cream. – Really? – So, it’s a legitimate contender. – I mean, I know we’ve been giving a lot of love to the Blue Bell, but there’s a reason for that. – Yeah I just, I mean, this is such a, ubiquitous experience, cookies and cream, and for this to be such a premiere version of it. – Premiere! The thing I’ll say negatively about the Dulce de Leche, it’s that it’s so rich that, a couple of bites and I kinda feel like, I’m kinda ready for something else. I like to mix it with something. – I agree. – But this, I could go to town and then come back to the country and then go back to town with it. – Cookies and cream Blue Bell wins this region. – Vanilla Region, it did it. – [Chase] All right. – [Link] Move it over and do it in a celebratory way Chase. (cheering) – Yeah look at that, enthusiasm, oh come on. That’s, oh come on, Chase! Put it back up there! Eventually Chase will get it to affix to the board, there you go all right, so Blue Bell, man, it’s bringing it, and thanks to Chuck Testa for being here today, we’ll spend some time with him in a little bit. – Now make sure to come back tomorrow for the misfit ice cream category, miscellaneous, they go head-to-head. – And thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. – You know what time it is. – My name’s Alexa and I’m from Ohio, but right now I’m in Antarctica, and it’s time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. – Yeah that’s not Ohio. Click the top link to watch us try to guess real or fake taxidermy with Chuck Testa in Good Mythical More. – And to find out where the Wheel of Mythicality’s gonna land. (knife chopping) – All right so we want again, nice thin little ribbons, because mushrooms have so much fibrousnessness, fibrousness in, that they’re gonna hold their shape.
