Should noodles cost the whole kitten caboodle? – Let’s talk about that. (upbeat music) “Good Mythical Morning.” – Wanna hear something funny? – Yes. – This is a naked foods episode and we’re gonna be taste testing nudes. (both chuckling) – You said nudes. Nudes to noodles. – Naked, nudes. (both laughing) Sincere laughter. Sincere laughter. – [Stevie] Guys. – That was so, I did such a good job. – I wonder if Stevie will try to interrupt us? – [Stevie] Guys. (both laughing) Nudes. – [Stevie] Okay, it’s time for Naked Foods, Naked Noodles Edition. Naked. – Yeah! – We got her to do it. I mean, she fell for it, she fell for it! – She fell for it. – We will do this every time now. We’re about to try four different noodle-based dishes from four different price points. We got the freezer or refrigerated section of a grocery store, we got fast casual restaurants, we got sit down restaurants, and we got standup restaurants. No, we got fine dining restaurants. – Each round, we’re gonna pick our favorite from the lineup individually. Then Stevie’s gonna reveal where the noodle dish was from and also how much it cost so that ultimately we will know just how much we wanna spend on noodles. – Yeah, that’s what we’re trying to figure out. But first, listen. This Chase is Moochelle chatter. You guys just won’t stop with it. You asked for Chase dancing with Moochelle. We gave you Chase dancing with Moochelle and we thought that would be enough. But according to Aleena Khan, who said, “I’ll believe chase isn’t Moochelle if Moochelle picks up Chase on camera,” fine. – Is this what you want? – How could Moochelle be Chase and carry Chase? It doesn’t work. – Yeah, right. I mean, the universe doesn’t allow for those kinds of things. – There we go. – Okay. Now let’s get noodled. This is lasagna. – Oh, this is exciting. – I love lasagna. You got those thin stacks of noodles just holding surprises in between. Boy, this one’s so much noodle. – I think I know where this is from. – And so little meat. – It’s a very multi, like there’s so many layers. There might be 12. No, there’s more than, there might be 15 layers in that thing. I know. Turn that around, look at that. – That’s crazy. – That is a crazy number of layers. That’s more than, that’s more than I’ve ever eaten on a lasagna. – A lasagna, yeah. And I, again, I think I know where it’s at, but I’m not. – Look at the back of this one. It’s like folded over. – [Rhett] So let’s come in here. – It’s kind of got like a, a sheet over the side of it. And then, I mean, this looks fancy. There’s like some sort of like, crunchy kale. How’s it taste? – There is a very strong cheese in there. – Whoo! – That me likey. That’s really good. – Because of that cheese, it’s unlike any other that I’ve had. It’s not what I expected. – It might be a little bit too much of a departure for me. I don’t know, I can’t quite make a decision. – I feel like this one is my jam growing up. Mm-hm. Stouffer’s frozen. – Yeah. – It’s gotta be. – And it’s not good once you’ve, once you’ve had stuff from a restaurant. If you were just eating that by itself. – It’s great. – It’s great. But once you- – I would get so excited. – Once you go from here to there. – When Mama would break out the pan, that like foil pan, she’d just like, a big slab of it. – This one. – Ooh, that looks good. – If somebody brought this out I would be like, “This person knows what they’re doing.” They’re just like a grandma-style lasagna. – Remember it’s called lasagna? Whoo. – Pretty solid, right there. – That is freaking classic. I’m ready. I know which one of my favorite is. Man, it’s just, this is tough. Ay yi yi yi yi yi. [Stevie] Three, two, one. – I think this is, this is too much of a departure. It’s really good. – This is great. – [Stevie] Do you have any idea which one the two of you chose? – Olive Garden? – I think it was- – [Stevie] It’s Olive Garden! – I was gonna say it’s definitely. – It’s so great. – Fast casual as well. – [Stevie] Yeah, it’s our casual sit down for $19.29 and then from- – Can I guess, can I guess? – This is Bottega Louis? Bottega Louis? – Stevie No. When you said you knew what this was, I was very confused. This is Sbarro. – What? – Fast casual. Yeah. I was like, when has Rhett been going to the mall? – That’s Sbarro? – Yeah. – I just, I’ve had the lasagna at Bottega Louie and it was very, it had so many layers. – [Stevie] Yikes. Yeah. $9.89. – Uh-uh. – [Stevie] And then, yes. – I mean, I didn’t think it was good. – [Stevie] That’s the fine dining one next from Angelini Osteria for 24 bucks. – It’s very good. They’re just trying a little bit too hard. – It’s a wild ride. – [Stevie] And then Stouffer’s frozen for $3.69. – Ain’t no shame in it. I mean, for the price and the convenience, shout out to Stouffer, you know? Gotta love it. – This is chicken pad thai. – Pad thigh? You know, I’ve got some thigh pads on some of my bike underwear. – Oh. You sleep in ’em? – Well, no, I bike in ’em. What kinda question is that? That’s good. Why are you staring at it? – It seems familiar. – Oh yeah? – Like a pad thai I’ve had while on the move or something. You know what I’m saying? – [Stevie] A pad thai you’ve had thai? (Rhett laughing) – Don’t get me started laughing, Stevie. You know how I can’t stop. – You might have to take over. – [Rhett] This is so white. – Yeah. These noodles. – Like what happened? The chicken, everything’s just too white. How could this have any flavor? – It does. It’s got a good flavor. – Okay. I’ll take it back. The noodles have a good flavor. The chicken is leaving quite a bit to be desired in my mind. This has like, got frozen written all over. – What are these like short noodles that, they don’t even believe in themselves. – Oh, that’s actively bad. It takes a lot for me to not wanna keep eating something. – It’s like Panda Express my anal glands. – No, no, thank you. Can I get a panda to do it? Now, this has got mushrooms and it’s got some. – Peanuts. – Nicely formed. This is, I mean the visual presentation here. Oh, I’ve lost a lot of it. – There’s a shaven mushroom quality here. Look at that shaven mushroom. Would you like for me to shave your mushroom? – It doesn’t taste good. – No, it doesn’t. – It looks good. It doesn’t taste good. I mean, I’m back here to the one. – Well, it’s not, it’s not bad. I don’t, it doesn’t have a classic pad thai taste. – I’m really underwhelmed in this round. – [Rhett] Yeah. – I think it comes down to these two for me even though I think this one’s fancy, but it’s just going too far. – Okay. – [Stevie] Three, two, one. – Boop, boop, boop, boop, beep. – I like the white one. And I don’t really like any of them. – [Stevie] Okay, so the one that you thought tasted familiar, that makes sense. It’s our casual sit-down from PF Chang’s for $19.50. So that’s the one that Link chose. The white one. – I didn’t know they had pad thai at PF Chang’s. – [Stevie] Yeah, it’s interesting. – ‘Cause it’s not a Thai restaurant. – [Stevie] That next one was our fast casual place, Summer Buffalo, for $13.25. – It’s not bad. – It’s not bad. It’s not great. – [Stevie] Then, yes, frozen, Sweet Earth pad thai for $4.98. – Real bad. – [Stevie] And fine dining at the end, Tao for $26. – Oh, Tao is the place, it’s the fancy place that I went. I told you I went to that party and there was, I talk about it all the time. Every time I get the opportunity. – Tell me about it again. – I went to that party and it was like really, really fancy. And the whole places like cascading down stairs. – Yeah, it’s like a club. – And all the people who are waiting to get in there are like wearing basically no clothes. And there’s like. – These really run the gamut. – We got some serious beef situation going on. The noodles just look incredible. We’ve got some cheesy sauce here on the back. – Yeah, what is the white cheese in a stroganoff? Trevor, do you know? It’s a cream, right? – [Trevor] I’m sorry, what was the question? (laughing) – What’s so funny, Trevor? – Are you crying or laughing? – [Trevor] You guys keep saying “stroganoff”. (laughing) – You know, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That’s good. – What’s the cream from stroganoff? Trevor, huh? – Pull yourself together. – Please explain to my juvenile mind what’s the cream from stroganoff? – That’s very good. This one right here. – Almost too flavorful. – I’m a little afraid, but. Is this like microwave shenanigans? – It tastes like something you’d eat on a ship that was going towards Antarctica. – Right. – You know what I’m saying? – You’ll be glad you got this when you’re down there freezing your tookus off. – Meaning you’re desperate and it’s old. Now this. – This has got the white cream. – Uh-huh. It’s got bigger beef chunks. – Bigger onions, littler. What’s this called? Noodles. – That’s a more classic stroganoff taste. – The steak pieces are like, huge. – They’re a little intimidating. – It’s like they took a steak and just like, cut it up. – Yeah, that’s exactly what they did, Link. – Mm-hm. – It’s tender. That’s some tender beef. – Oh, well, this looks scary. This looks like nothing but beef. Where is the- – What is happening? – Where are the noodles? – Trevor, did you take the noodles again? – [Trevor] They’re small. – How can I have stroganoff with no noodles? That’s not great. – What is happening there? – There’s no noodles. – This has been a weird, this has been a weird Naked Foods. ‘Cause I keep thinking that I’m gonna really like something. – Yeah. There’s like a Worcestershire type thing happening in like, little pockets there. – They’ve taken a risk on this that’s not paying off for me. – Because they marinated those mushrooms in something weird. – The whole thing’s covered in it. The whole thing is covered in whatever that seasoning is. – [Stevie] Three, two, one. – This is the best one. – We agree, yep. – It tastes like stroganoff. – [Stevie] Finally. I was wishing that I could see a little three-way dance with Moochelle. (soft piano music) – We kind of just all started spinning. – Oh gosh. I just didn’t want to have to pick her up. – [Stevie] Okay, so that is our fine dining from Smokehouse for $26. – Smokehouse? – [Stevie] Yep. Smokehouse. – Worth it. – [Stevie] And then starting on Rhett’s side, that’s our casual sit-down, Granville, for 24 bucks. – Granville doing some weird stuff. – Y’all need to dial that in a different direction. – Huh. – [Stevie] And then the scary frozen from Michelina’s for $1.25. – Not good. And what’s happening here? Is it Brazilian? – [Stevie] Yeah, this is very interesting. It’s our fast casual, which is Robert’s Russian Cuisine for $20.95. – Robert’s Russian cuisine. I’ve passed that place. And I’ve been like, “I wonder what Russian cuisine is like?” – Well, he’s not putting noodles in his stroganoff. – Yeah. You don’t need ’em, apparently. – I didn’t think you could stroganoff without a noodle. – Nope. You gotta have a noodle. – I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. – This is chicken noodle soup. – Can we take stock? And I’m not talking about the chicken stock. – Oh, dang! – I feel like what we’re discovering with these noodles is that yes, the last round was fancy, but it was the only one. – Noodles don’t have to be fancy. – But you don’t want it to be crappy either. It’s like right down the middle, you find a good spot where they give you the type of dish that you want in the way you expect it. – As long as you’re not going from frozen. – [Link] I had to fight to get that carrot on my spoon. – [Rhett] What a troublesome carrot. – Not good, not bad, but unexpected. – It tastes like it’s for an animal. – Now this one here. – It tastes like the kind of fancy dog food that you get in Beverly Hills when you want to get human food for your dogs, but then you taste it and then you’re like, “Oh, that’s still for dogs.” – ‘Cause it just looks like it’s for humans, but it’s not. – There’s some big carrots. – Good carrots. – Oh, okay. – Good carrots. – Oh my goodness. That’s so much better. – Legit chicken there. But the question is, I mean, you go to a fancy place. Maybe that’s not the fancy one, but you go to a fancy place, you gonna order chicken noodle soup? – Yeah, what’s wrong with you, you know? – That’s strange. But I mean, they got it off a fancy menu somewhere. – Is there any celery in that? – I think I have to be surprised. I don’t think there is. – I feel like you gotta have celery for it to be chicken noodle soup. This is okay. This feels like maybe like a, a Panera situation or something. – Boston Market maybe. Not loving it, not hating it. – This has got some yellow stuff going on and some big chicken. – Big chicken, yellow hue. It’s a little thicker, the broth. Ugh. – There’s an ungodly amount of sugar in that. – Yeah. – Something that makes it sweet. – Whereas this one tastes weird because it’s something that they chose to do, this is, that’s a mistake they made. All right. – This is like night and day. One is head and shoulders above the rest. – Yeah, you know we’re gonna vote for this one. – That’s really good. – [Stevie] Okay, so you both chose the casual sit down place, Art’s Deli for $11. But this round did something very specific I think for our TikTok viewing audience, because our fine dining option for this round was actually Erewhon. You know, the really fancy grocery store. – I went there recently just to, just as an outing. – Yeah, well. – Like, it was a super fancy grocery store with overly beautiful people cooking stuff. – Yeah, yeah. – It’s like a movie set. – [Stevie] They charge $15.50 for a small thing of soup. And it’s the third one in, the one that you said could be Panera, don’t love it, don’t hate it. – This is kind of crazy ’cause I was just having a conversation last night with someone about Erewhon and how they were like, you’re paying for the brand and the image because it’s like, “Oh, this chocolate is so much better.” It’s like, is it really? – I mean, is fancier. – Is it really, though? – [Stevie] Turns out it’s not. And then the first one that you said something was wrong with, that’s actually Panera for $7.79. – Yeah. Something’s wrong with Panera. – [Stevie] And then the final one where there was a mistake, yeah, that was the frozen option from Walmart for $2.87. – All right, so what we, this supports our assertion that noodles just kinda go down the middle. Find your sweet spot. – But you should be sitting down. – [Link] You should be sitting down. – At a restaurant. – At a restaurant. – Not sitting down on your sofa. No frozen stuff. – Nuh-uh. – But it doesn’t have to be a nice restaurant. – [Stevie] Okay, so the lowest possible total was $12.79 and the highest possible was $91.50. Rhett, your perfect meal total was $69.54 and Link, yours was $75.79. – You were higher than mine? Is that a first? – That’s unexpected. – That might be a first. I don’t know. – [Stevie] I don’t think it’s a first, but I do recall the last time it happened we were equally as surprised. – Whoa, yeah, I’m surprised this time. – I’m an expensive noodle boy. – Wants expensive noodles. – Thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. – You know what time it is. – My roller derby name is Smashing Pumpkin and my roller derby friend Tricky Dick sent me this pumpkin spice cup of noodles to try. It suggests adding whipped cream to enhance the flavor. And it’s time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. – She didn’t like Tricky Dick’s ideas. Click the top link to watch us discover what bread is best for soup dipping in “Good Mythical More”. – And to find out where the Wheel of Mythicality’s gonna land.
