Do the same candies taste different in other countries? Let’s talk about that Good Mythical Morning. As two hungry dudes who eat foods from around the world, there’s nothing like A good old American candy. God bless her, she’s Mars and all the rest. But get this. Sometimes in other countries, the same exact sweet snack will taste different than it does here. What? Today, we’re gonna find out what those differences are. It’s time for Same Munchy, Different Country Candy Edition. As you can see, we cannot. Okay, childish bambinos, you’re about to taste Snickers bars from different countries to see if you can identify the American, the US version. The winner of today’s game will get compliments in other languages from the loser in More. So go ahead and start tasting the Snickers in front of you. In no particular order. They are from the US, Ireland, and Greece. Hey, we’re not working as a team today. We’re playing against each other. Yes. But I believe in you, and if you win, I’ll take joy in that. And if I win, I would hope. That’s a long Snickers. Hey! I just found a long, hairy Snicker. Don’t rub my arm like that. That was a sweet moment, and you ruined it. What were you saying? I was just. I don’t. I want to beat you. I want to beat you. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Oh, it’s a fun size, or this is bigger than a fun size? This one’s got a lot of nougat flavor. I’m part Irish. Wonder if I’ll be able to know if something’s really connecting with my roots. That’s good. Oh, gosh. Here we go. I found it. Oh, this one’s a bit shorter. Oh, boy, it smells different. Things are a bit shorter in Ireland, you know? They don’t. This tastes so different. Nutty. It’s harder. The nuts are so different. They get nuts from different places? Good God. I touched yours, sorry. Where is it? Where is it? Hey! Where is it? Give me that forearm. No, I’m saying. Give me that hairy forearm. I need to feel it. No, no. What? Hey, listen, calm down. What I’m saying is that in getting mine, I touched yours. This one’s square ish. It’s more angular. Well, we’ve tried to cut them all so that they’re the same size. Oh, they’re cut. This one seems like it’s cut. All right. I know. This one’s got good nuts in it. How confident, are you? One thousand percent. I feel that confident, too. Okay. I need that confidence to go into the fact that you’re gonna be stabbing your flags into the correct answer, and you’re blindfolded, so. Oh, we’re stabbing. Oh, gosh. Really? This is my glasses. Okay. And I’m gonna let him stab first, and then I’m gonna move. Don’t hit me in the lap. Snickers from the US. So you want me to go hard? Because you’re not gonna be in there. No, don’t go hard, because if you miss and you hit me in the lap, we might have a situation. I’m not gonna be stabbing towards you. I’m gonna be stabbing over here. Yeah, you are. Three, two, one. Hey, tell me when you’re in. I’m in. Is your over here? Yeah, it is. You did it. You did it, man. If we’re wrong, I can. We agree because this one. The nuts were weird on that one. This one was weird. The Snickers from the US is on Rhett’s side. You’re both correct. In the middle was the Snickers from Greece, and the Irish Snickers are on Link’s far side. Grease has got weird nuts. Well, the US is the only one that uses corn syrup as the main sweetener. What do they use? They use sugar. Y’all got to get on the syrup train. Our oils are also different. The US uses palm oil, which is apparently not that great for you. And then there is a certain iconic vein that is missing from the Greek version. Yeah, we got veins over here. Oh, God. Don’t call it a vein. Oh, my God. Well, I left out the other descriptor that I have written in my notes. Yeah, iconic vein. I don’t think I’m gonna eat Snickers anymore. What’s the other one? I mean, it already looked like a dookie. Now it’s got an iconic vein? The Greek one’s got balls too? Is there any vein? That’s the Irish one. Only the Americans have the vein. Yes. Okay, up next, we have Starburst, and there’s only two countries this round. UK and the US. UK and US. Okay, so I am getting one of each. Is it the same flavor across? They’re both square. There’s a variety of flavors included in both bowls. That’s hard. I got an orange from the right bowl. That’s good. I got a red. I’m gonna put that on my lap and finish it later. The right side of my lap’s got that one. Oh, this one’s harder. Well, it’s a different flavor I really need the same flavor. I need to find a. I need to find an orange one. Yes. I did it. Okay. Nope, I didn’t. I don’t feel like I need any more tasting to know. Yes, I did it. Stay over there if you don’t want that. Okay. These are waxier and harder, right? You say these. Mines. Yours. They’re not yours. Just because they’re on your side doesn’t mean you own them. You’re not going home with them. These are softer. These have more air in them. You ready? Yeah. Full of hot air, just like. Sorry, I pushed that. Yes, ready. What am I doing? Okay, grab your. I don’t know why I’m doing this. Grab your. Grab your flags. Three, two, one. My teat! Why is my hand? Yeah. Get your freaking hand out of the way, you moron. I wanted you to play that game that they played in Alien. The US. You thought these were from the US? Do it. Are on Link’s side. Do it again. How did you think these are from the US? They tasted nothing like Starburst. Play the game from Alien. All right, all right, okay. We got an overhead shot for this, Nick? And then you speed that up in post. Speed it up in post, make me look cool. All right. How did you think you were right about this? It’s so wrong. Fifty fifty chance. No, no. They don’t taste anything like each other. I was underplaying how different they were. Oh, they’re very different. The UK version has malic acid in it, which the US version does not. So, they’re more sour? And they’re harder. I will say that. I did say it. The US version has. I don’t know, I just call it very distinct flavors that I just recognized. And these I did not. It’s that simple. You can own these, too. Did you know that we have a daily GMM trivia game on the Mythical Society app? We call it Think It and Sink It. There’s new questions every single day, one that relates to that day’s episode and one that’s just general GMM trivia. Well, it’s trivia related to that episode, as well. And here’s the deal. We have a leaderboard, and the person who is at the top of that leaderboard at the end of the season is going to get one thousand dollars to the mythical.com store. Okay? What? And then listen, if you got in a little bit late this time, just know we’re going to start it up again next season in the fall. So, get in when you can. Okay? Get that app. It’s available for everybody, all tiers, including our initiate free tier. All you got to do is have the app. Okay, we have Sour Patch Kids up next. And your countries are Australia, Türkiye, and the USA. Türkiye sounds like a Canadian saying turkey. Exactly. Okay. What did you think about that? I couldn’t finish it. What? It’s a little. That one was a little weak to me. The second one, way more sour. And sweeter. With the coating. Türkiye, Australia. USA. They all end in A. How is this third one? It is the sourest. I mean, it is by far the sourest. Am I right? One time I was reading a book. I’m right. And they had California, which is written in the book. It was a kid’s book. I was a kid. And I went downstairs, I was like, mom, in this book, they spell California. “Californ-i-a”. Not realizing that’s just how you spell California. Because the N-I-A is “Nya” Yeah. You know how, like, sometimes people being cool, like “Californ-i-a:, but really it just ends in I-A. Was that a real story, or was that a hypothetical story? It was a real story. I have a lot of shame around it. Thanks for bringing it up. Well, you brought it up, And then Stevie brought it up again. I moved on. She reshamed you. Yeah. Man, I feel I’m so shamed. Stevie couldn’t believe that you could be that stupid. Oh, yeah she could. “Californ-i-a”. Okay, here we go. Three, two, one. Yes. You’re doing it. Sounds like we’re agreeing. You are both correct. Yeah, and look at the bright colors in our country. It’s so much sourer. The first one on Rhett’s side is from Türkiye, and the middle is from Australia. Türkiye not bringing the colors, not bringing the flavor. They also have black carrot juice concentrate in their’s. Look at that one. And Australia has grape skin extract. Grape skin? Yeah. And I think that the US. The coloring is very artificial and chemical, and the Australia and Türkiye versions are a more natural source of coloring. I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. If you want to get those bright, eye popping colors, you got to go artificial. You got to follow our lead here. Like you want to. You want it to be fun, but you’re not eating this because you’re trying to be healthy. You’re eating this because you’re trying to have some fun. We know how to have fun here. Okay? We’ll deal with the consequences later when we all get old and everybody’s walking around with limps and stuff. And then we’ll be like, remember when we used to have? Fun. And we have peanut M and M’s up last. There’s only two countries, US and the UK. US and UK. There’s more countries than that, Stevie. Well, there’s a peanut with an M and M in it. That peanut gave way real easy, though. You think UK’s got weak? They might have weak nuts. I don’t know. That nut gave way. It was like it wasn’t even trying to put up a fight. I wanted some resistance. Waving the white flag? Hey, hey, hey. Too soon. I wasn’t making a Revolutionary War allusion. I was. Boy, that tasted toasted. Where’s the nut in that one? That was a weak nut too. Maybe just nuts this year, we got weak nuts. Isn’t this more about the nut over here, the wheat? It’s a nut that gives way, but it gives taste. Over here, the chocolate is more robust. I’m a stranger to both of these. I’m sorry. Now I’m just eating. This one’s a lot more about the chocolate. That one’s a lot more about the nut. I don’t know where I? One of them is harder. Brittle. Brittle, Britain. Yeah. Okay. Three, two, one. We agree. Who’s winning? Me, if I’m. Hey, you know why that doesn’t happen to me? Because I hold the top. Because? I hold the top. Look, see? I hold the top. Yeah. Okay, I’ll start doing it. I’ll start, but that makes it. Well. Well, I switched. You were blindfolded. I switched. He’s like, look, look. And you’re like, yep. But you weren’t looking. I think I may have gotten a queen’s sweep. It’s a toss up for me, but I had to switch, because I’m losing. The peanut. M and M’s from the US are on Rhett’s side. So. Queen’s sweep! Congratulations. US got the weak. The nuts that give way? Yeah. What’s the official difference? The main difference is that the US uses corn syrup and the UK doesn’t. But when the crew tasted them, they agreed that the US had, like, a very strong peanut taste. And the UK was subtle in peanut taste. And again, we got the brighter colors. Listen, I know they talk a bunch of crap about the artificial colors and the corn syrup, but I think both of them make it better. Did you? You know what I’m saying? The corn syrup is probably bad in a lot of ways, but what I’m getting at is that, like, there’s something about the concentration of it that actually works in sweets. Can’t argue with that, because I wasn’t completely listening, but Stevie, did you say that the crew agreed with me that the American one was more peanut? Yeah. Yeah. All right, good. I’m not going nuts. I don’t have a clear. Well, I do, I prefer the American, but because of the nut, not because of the corn syrup. Maybe it’s because it’s familiar to me. I like the US version of all four better. I’m sorry, guys. I will travel, though. I still will travel. I mean, everything sucks in the UK. Hey, come on. Hey. We almost made it through the episode without saying that. You’re picking a big fight, man. You’re picking a big fight. It was just a joke. I don’t believe it.
