Now, as North Carolina boys, we’ve been known to marinate some meat throughout our lives. Yes. Both in our personal lives and even on this very show. Mm hmm. Where we tried meats marinating in things like Pepto Bismol and mimosas a few years back. I haven’t done either of those since. Nope! And even still, there’s an entire world of mystery marinades out there. The likes of which the human mind has never conceived of! Until now. It’s time for, And Now Mademoiselle, Your Beouf, au Mystery Wetness. As you can see, we can’t. Okay, boys, to the side of you. Uh, is a meat that was marinated in a mystery liquid by the Mythical Kitcheneers. That is a little mini grill that you’re feeling. Yes, yes. Go ahead and grab that meat. Whoa! It is a turkey leg this round. Wow! So please don’t bite the bone. And uh, and then I’m gonna give you a 3, 2, 1. You’re gonna guess what it’s marinated in. It smells like turkey. It smells like a little something else too. Ugh. Hmm. It tastes more like turkey than it smells. Yeah, I think the hint is in the smell. Okay. Hmm. This is so tough. It’s actually pretty tender. Uh, uh, uh. Man, every time I eat turkey, I’m struck with the reality that I don’t care for turkey. Well, turkey doesn’t care for you, man. What is this? Mutual. So, Nicole, you just had like turkey legs floating in a vat of something for how long? Ding, ding, ding, like seven to like nine hours. Seven to nine hours? Yeah. Okay. I smell something and I’m gonna say the thing that I smell. Well good, Rhett. That seems, that seems pretty logical. That’s the thoughts that are happening in my brain. I’m sorry for being grumpy, it’s the turkey. The turkey legs are probably the best part of the turkey for a dark meat man. Two. One. Cake batter. Caramel. What did you say, Link? Caramel. Caramel. Cake batter. No, you’re both in the right general area. It’s a sweetness. Mm-hmm. Is it a. Is it a brown sweetness? Maybe. Chocolate. More specific. Uh, white chocolate. Hershey’s syrup. You’re correct that in that you need to be guessing a name brand. Uh, dark. Oh, uh, Nesquik. Closest. Yoohoo. There we go. Hah! Can I? Yeah, take a peek. Ooh. Ooh! So, now that I know. It did that to the ski end. Now that I know, I’m gonna revisit. I think it looks nice. I think it looks, like, roasted, no? It looks not that atypical. Well, I just don’t like to look at turkey legs because that’s what the turkey was walking around on. Alright. Well, okay, that argument, that logic can be extended to, like, pretty much everything. Chicken wings. Chicken wings. Well, now that’s what they’re flying around on, which is beautiful. Okay, all right. All right, we’re moving on to some filet mignon. Oh! You didn’t have to. Always. And you cut it up for us? Oh, thank you. Like my mama used to do. Oh. Oh, wow. It’s dry. I smelled something very specific. I didn’t smell anything. And I think it went away. It tastes nasty. Well, not nasty, it just doesn’t It doesn’t taste It tastes like dry steak. I’m just smelling fat on that piece. Is there fat? What? Oh, now I just found the right sniff spot. All right, I got a guess. You ready, Link? Yes, sir. Ma’am. Three, two, one. Gatorade. OJ. Interesting. Okay, you’re both in beverage territory. Powerade! And it’s, I think it is citrusy. We’re both in citrusy. Well, it is great for early mornings. Tea. Tea. It’s not coffee? Earl Grey tea. There we go. What? Oh, you nailed it, man. Oh, we ate it all. Oh, well, here’s some. Why do you have so many pieces? I was just feeling of other pieces. I don’t want your felt pieces. Why? I wasn’t giving it to you. Um, is there something to this? Well, Earl Grey tea will sneak up and make something taste good. Like a pie. And, uh eye to eye about that pie. I don’t think that steak is maybe, I’m gonna smell your felt pieces. Yeah. Leave that there. You don’t need to pick up the plate. The plate is glued to the grill. Hold on, I’m smelling your little felt pieces. Mm-hmm, all it did was make it dried out, or did you just cook it too much? So, the point of this episode is to cook meat in different liquids, but it’s not to cook meat in different liquids. Like good, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. That’s right. You gotta, yeah. You know what, gotta know what you’re trying to do. So what you’re saying is, Nicole, you didn’t believe in this marinade? I mean, I believe in everything I do, but I mean, it’s, it’s all right. It’s not like disgusting. I liked it when I ate it. I don’t think it’s that bad. I think if it wasn’t. It’s tanniny. It’s also tanniny, yeah. There’s something about an earl grey flavor that translates in weird ways that I don’t know. This is much better than a Yoo Hoo turkey leg. I’ll tell you that much. That’s true. Okay, we have lamb chops. Oh! With the bone. You know. With the bone. There’s the bone. Euhh, uhh. Whoosnee! Whoo! Wooh. Oh! Wow. What part of that is lamb scent? And what part of that is marinade? Oh! I’m a, I don’t, have you bitten it? I’ve only smelt it. I know, it’s. Have you felt it? It’s that, ew. So it’s, the gamey part is the lamb. Oh, wow. Wait until you bite it. I don’t know where to bite. You’re not gonna like it. Ew. Ha ha ha ha ha. You’re not gonna like this. Although. Hm. It seems like it could be good if it is what I think it is. I know it. 3, 2, 1. Balsamic vinegar. Apple cider vinegar. One more time, Link. Apple cider vinegar. You’re correct. Yes! I like it better by itself. Are you smelling gaminess, or were you smelling the vinegar? Both. Oh. It’s like I’m smelling both lanes of the highway at the same time. You used a lot of vinegar on this. Oh, pure, unadulterated vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is great. with meats, but not at this concentration. It’s got that tang to it. I almost said Marmite. That’s how strong it was. Yeah. Until I bit it. Then I was like, Oh, it’s vinegar. It might. Maybe it helps with, like, the gaminess. I don’t know. I think that. We didn’t like it. Yeah, sorry, Nicole, you overcooked this one, too. Yeah, that’s gonna be a general through line through the whole episode. Okay. Yeah. Now I understand. She started cooking it, and then she, You gotta get it in there. She stepped away. You gotta really get it in there. Look at it. Okay, this is duck breast. A duck breast like I’ve never seen. Now is that gross for you? You imagine a duck just breastin around? I mean, this one, this one is, yeah, yeah. This one’s mushin. Oh. This one’s easy. Okay, you already know? Huh. It’s quite good. Yeah, not bad at all. And I’m ready to guess. Are you ready to guess? Yes. Three, two, one. Coffee! Espresso! You’re both in the same, can you go a little bit more specific? Cause you’re both kind of adjacent to. Folgers. Latte! Um coffee rub, which has kind of already been done. It’s a certain kind of coffee that certain people like to drink if they don’t like to drink hot coffee. Uh, hot, cold brew. Nitro. Yeah, it’s cold brew. Nitro. C-c-cold brew! I mean, we were, you think that cold brew is I guess it’s different than, like, actual beans. I don’t know, because you didn’t put anything else on it. Just cold brew, yeah. So there’s no, like, salt or pepper. Salt, pepper, nothing. And I’m needing those things in order to make, like, a complete thing. But that’s not what we’re doing. As Nicole has said, she’s not, she doesn’t want us to think these are good. Mm hmm. And she did a great job at that. Aw. No, no, that’s on purpose. She usually salts and peppers at least. Not this time, baby. This is lobster. Oh, yum. Okay. It’s little pieces of lobster. Mm mm. Okay. What? Hold on, hold on. There’s something there. It’s so familiar. What is that? What is that? Oh gosh, what is that? It’s sweet. It’s so weirdly sweet. It tastes like cookie dough. But it’s impossible to marinate something in cookie dough. Um, it is not good. Again. This is definitively bad. Not supposed to be. I have no idea. It’s so familiar. Um. Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk. Mhmm, mhmm, mhmm. Okay, let’s just get on with it. Three. We can get hints. Two, one. Dr. Pepper? Uh, cookie dough. I don’t know how she did it. But she did it. Um I do believe you’ve consumed one of these before, but it is not your go to brand of choice of these, uh, beverages. Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew. No. Uh, is it a beer? No. Is it a soft drink? No. Is it a slushie? Uh. It’s so sweet, it has to be. The cute hint is there’s no acoustic version of this marinade. There’s no, so it’s. Yeah, it’s sometimes it’s harder to understand the cute ones. Is it muted? Oh, did I just knock something? Mute? Uh um. This is something, oh, it’s not acoustic. It’s not acoustic. So it’s, uh, electric, electric, electric. Well, here it is. It is eel sauce. No. Okay. This is a, um, a version of this. We do stock in our fridge here on a regular basis. LaCroix. And most people, uh, It’s Coconut LaCroix. Acquire one of these beverages in the afternoon. For a pick me up. Oh, it’s Celsius. It, well, and if it wasn’t that brand, Red Bull. And it was a brand that wasn’t acoustic. Electric. Rockstar. Yeah, there we go. Ha ha ha ha, yes! Because rockstars play electric guitars? Yeah, that’s right. That’s right. The tie is scored, and for your final round, you’ve got beef liver. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Can we, can I, can I. Come on. Can I opt out? No. What’s the prize? Oh! Uh, no prize, just a punishment. How did that, did you eat it? You just smelt it. I just smelt it. Uhhhh. You smell it. Can’t do it. I am gonna guess though. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Gotta really get acquainted with the smell. I think. I licked it. I licked it. No. Did you learn anything? No. I learned that I shouldn’t have licked it. I’m not really, I’m getting so much information by smelling it. There’s really no need to. Let me take another piece. I think I sniffed all the sniff spots on it. You wouldn’t have used like a cleaner, right? This is safe for human consumption. Okay, I have a guess. Three, two, one. Pepsi. Mountain Dew. No. I thought I smelled some Pepsi. It has a fruity quality to it. Uh. You were, you were closer when you were talking about cleaner, honestly. Worcestershire sauce. Lemon juice. No, it’s a marinade that’s been known to make drinkers exclaim, Oh my lord! Malort. Yeah. Oh, it’s the worst tasting drink and the worst. Oh. Bring Emily over here. She might like it. She might like it. She might like it. Good malort. So we had to get rid of the rest of that and it took this long to do it. Oh, that means, uh, Rhett loses.
