Does fried chicken taste the same as it did eight years ago? Let’s talk about that. Good Mythical Morning. Before we get into this episode, we wanna take a moment to let you know that today is a very special day, indeed. Mm-hmm. Because today. Is the first day of the second annual celibacy week! Well, yes. We don’t know if we’re happy about it, but. Yeah, it’s, it’s reality. You don’t need to get too excited. That’s kind of the point, because celibacy week is a time when we remind the world that if you have sex this week. You or someone that you’re having sex with might get pregnant. Mm-hmm. And if you get pregnant, your child will be born into a terrible fate, a birthday that falls between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. Mm. And that is not going to happen on our watch. No. I mean, impossible to plan Birthday parties. Christmas wrapping paper passed off as birthday wrapping paper. Ooh. And just an overall lack of proper birthday recognition. It’s horrible. And that’s why we here at Mythical Celebrate this week is a week of self-control, determination, and absolutely no intercourse allowed. Now, if you get sexually aroused during this episode, we’re going to be very mad at you. And if the idea of us getting mad at you turns you on will, you are beyond our help. All right. To help you stay celibate this week, please enjoy this very unsexy video of a bloodshot eyeball, okay? Oh, yep. That’s. Now that’ll dissipate in a while. Don’t worry about this person’s eye. Okay. On with the show. A lot can happen in eight years. That’s two full high school experiences, two summer Olympics and a total of 2,922 days. But is it enough time for two guys to change their opinions on what’s the best fried chicken? Well, we’re gonna find out by blind tasting the same fried chicken spots we tried eight years ago to see if those same drumsticks have drums stuck with us after all these years. It is time for, oops, I bit it again. Fried chicken Taste test volume two. Okay, boys, today you’re going to once again be blind tasting and guessing fried chicken drumsticks from these places in no particular order. KFC. Yeah, Popeye’s. Bojangles. Hmm. Ralph’s grocery store, Churches. And just to keep you on your toes, we’re adding a new option to the mix this time. Fried chicken from the Whole Foods hot bar. Okay? And these drumsticks will once again be served via the still patent pending drum chick, and last time out of eight possible points. Rhett, you got zero. And Link took the win with. Two. Oh. Uh, so let’s see if things turn out differently. If you’ll put your blind holes. I didn’t get any right. I didn’t even get KFC right? That’s what I heard her say. Zero. I remember. How can you not get KFC? As you can see, I’m ready. Oh, you’re gonna really, some people aren’t gonna be able to sleep tonight. Bring that drumstick in. Hmm. Okay. Oh, hey. Mm-hmm. Woo. Oh my God. I miss fried chicken man. We don’t eat it enough. The world needs more fried chicken. That is a good classic fried chicken. Uh, this is just like a classic fried chicken. Hmm. Not as good as my nanny makes, but still very good. Nothing to complain about. Can I have another, can I have another bite? No, I have to get another bite. Illegal. No, you can request another bite. I just don’t think that we should do that. Alright. On a scale of one to 10, 10 being awesome, right? Stevie? That is correct, Link. Oh my gosh. I’m not gonna be good at this again. I’m gonna give this a nine. I’m having such a good time though. I’m gonna continue having a good time. I’m gonna stay positive. I’m gonna give it a nine as well. It’s so good, right? It’s so good. Alright, ready? I think I know where it’s at, but I know how, I know where this is from. Three, two, one. [Rhett]: KFC [Link]: Ralphs That’s it. Aw, poor buddy. Oh God. Aw. He thought it was KFC. He didn’t, he thought he tasted 11 herbs and spices. That’s crazy. You want to, you want to get some, you wanna get some water in your face? Is that what you want right now? No. No. Okay. I’m just telling you, you should guess KFC again later because that was Ralph’s. You know, I think eight years ago I was a leg man, but now I’m a thigh boy. You look like you like half dark and half light, uh, meat. You both do. Yeah. So interesting how you’re both giving that vibe today. Hmm. This is very different. The skin was different. Mm-hmm. The skin was soft. This one’s but crispy at the same time. It’s crunchy, but not as crunchy as the last one. There’s like a potpourri to this. Yeah. There’s an underlying flavor that I would say is good. But not what I want. If I give it a six, that’s, that’s being a little too hard on it. I’m, I’m gonna give, I was gonna give it a six. I think I’m, so, I’m, I’m sticking with the six. Yeah. It’s a really strong six. Okay. Hold on, on, hold on. Where is this from though? Okay. Two, one. [Rhett]: Whole Foods. [Link]: Churches. That’s a good guess. I know. Yeah, I have, I– It’s got something that’s a little bit different about it and maybe they’re trying something new at Whole Foods. Eight years ago, did you think we’d be doing this eight years from then now? Yes. Yes, yes. Because time is a circle. Hmm. That chicken’s been working out. It’s a leaner chicken. It’s a firm, it’s firm. It’s uncomfortably firm. Not a lot of crunchy. The chicken is good, but the, I’m a crunchy man. I like to have that crunchy. Crunchy. It kind of feels like it taste a little bit like grandma was involved. Yeah. But she left before they finished it. Yeah. Like. She’s like, y’all understand, right? And they were like, yes. And they did. They were lying. So what number are you giving this? Five? I’m sorry. I’m gonna go to four. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I just, I mean, I mean, it’s still fried chicken. I’d still eat it. I, I, I think I know where this is from. Three, two, one. [Link]: Whole Foods. [Rhett]: Churches. Nah. Church, churches. Churches better than that. Nah, man. I mean, you need to go back to church… es. Oh yes, yes, yes, yes. It’s a hard job, but we have to do it. What’s going on? I’m, I smell chicken. Y’all messing? Listen, do you think you want some water in the face? What’s happening? Because I’m prepared. What? At any moment I will throw water in the face. Are they trying to. They’re trying to make us kiss, ((Laughter)) Hey, do you know right now someone, someone’s out there just on the verge of a strong wind, blowing in the right direction and suddenly becoming aroused. It’s celibacy week damnit. And if we start kissing, they’re gonna start screwing and we can’t have that. Okay. Yeah. So keep your drumstick to yourself. I’ve got a job to do. Mm-hmm. I’m not even gonna say anything. I’ll let you say something. Oh, all I know is I’m one happy man right now. No, this is Nirvana for me. Blindfolded with just new chicken legs just coming in and I just put my lips all over ’em. Put my face on ’em and then I eat ’em. Nine. You don’t wanna give a 10, huh? Nope. I’m not giving a 10. Alright. I don’t know. Well, you, you wanna give a 10? I think I want to give a 10. Give it a 10. I’m giving it a 10. 3, 2, 1. Pop Bojangles. No doubt Bojangles. Now I can’t be wrong about that. Me? Yeah, we can. How was I wrong about that last time? I’m not. I’m gonna fall for your tricks. Okay. There it is. Oh. Huh. Why is mine so crispy. Was yours really crispy? Yeah, mine wasn’t the crispiest. Hmm hmm. It’s good. So good. So moist. That is some really good chicken. I might give this a seven. It’s eight. It’s not as crunchy as I would’ve hoped. And the, the flavor profile is not as broad as I would hope. There’s not as much to experience, but where is this from? I think I know. Can you go and I’m, before we guess, you said the pla, the, the flavor, flavor profile wasn’t as broad. It, it doesn’t have as many flavors. He wants more flavors. Alright. Alright. You ready to guess? Like some, the batter doesn’t wow me as much as I thought it should. Yep. Got it. But I think I do know where it’s from. Uh, three. Two, one. – Popeye’s. – Churches. But there’s no Cajun. There was a little bit, I was gonna say Churches, and then I had a back in the back of my mouth as it went down. It’s got a slight, a little slight spice to it. It does. You feel it’s simmering now? I’m still not getting any ca. I mean, there was Cajun. If that’s Popeye’s, I think churches must have a little spice in it. They’re just not going hard enough. Well, I don’t know. I can’t tell you. I don’t know. I mean, I got zero last time. Yesterday, Uh, we saw Amy wearing one of these sweatshirts and both of us thought that she had made it, and then today not, I mean, she got ’em. We just thought she could make cool stuff. Yeah. And so she can make one for you too, right? Right. She go to mythical.com. She’s making so many of these things. It’s really been a distraction for her. Can you, can you guess how she does it? Well, she starts with two sweatshirts and she cuts ’em in half, and then she sews ’em together in a different way. There’s two colorways. We’re wearing each, so uh, have your pick. mythical.com. Okay. Hmm. Hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hmm. Really? Pretty good. Yeah. Really, man. I need another bite. What? Can I have another bite? What is the really, what do you mean really? Well, but I don’t know what really means. You’re surprised by what? Based on the fact that that was the last round. Right? There’s the thing that you, there’s two. I haven’t guessed one of the things that you haven’t guessed. I just don’t think that this is it. Right. I’m pretty perplexed. And so I’m going back and I’m beginning to think that, was I not wrong at one point that I thought that I was wrong? I know, me too. Okay. I have a guess, but, but what about, oh, I really like it. I, I, I, I think it’s solid. There’s a part of me that feels like it’s, I’m tasting a little too much of the oil. I’m tasting the components. I’m so sorry. In a way that I didn’t want to– I, I’m gonna give it a seven. Honestly. That isn’t, that’s gonna be the reason why you didn’t get any right this time. Yeah. I’m tasting the components. All right. 3, 2, 1. -KFC. -Popeye’s. This is KFC, man. You probably right, man. It has to be. Well, it has to be, but I, I just, KFC seems like it’s gonna be, so obviously KFC. Yeah, that, that’s why I haven’t said it yet. Well, maybe ’cause you used to say, say, said I’ve seen it. I said it the first time. Yeah. I’m thrown off. Frankenchick. Okay. It’s time for our Franken chick round and we have two different fried chickens mashed in into a delicious chicken balls. Oh, you made it sound so good. Two guesses. Uh, two points up for grabs. Okay. Balls please. Should just. Oh wow. Hmm hmm. That was weird. Very weird. I kept waiting for the bone, which I hope you’re not doing. Don’t do it. Because it’s not coming– I mean. You gotta wait until next week for that. Hmm. You trying to take it apart? I did a technique, I wasn’t gonna tell you about it ’cause I have such an underdog moot coming into this. But I left cheeked all the chicken and then I brought the chicken across my tongue into my right cheek and I could feel it like a chicken gradient happening in my mouth. It’s pretty good actually. I’m trying to receive chicken knowledge. I’m ready. Uh, hold on, hold on. Two places. Um, okay. 3, 2, 1. Popeyes and Es and KFC. Oh, no. Crossover it whatsoever. Uhuh. Okay, boys, you could remove your blindfolds. How do you feel like you did not great. I had a time I got Bojangles. Right? I bet you about that. Okay. Well, yes. You’re, you’re collecting. Yeah, we both favorite, you both got correct Bojangles, uh, coming in at second place was KFC. Only a point difference now link. You improved by one. You got uh, three, correct. Hey, it’s an improvement. It’s an improvement. I mean, I, I was getting a big head. I don’t know if you could tell I’m disappointed. I am disappointed. Question is, when it comes to Rhett’s zero, how did he fare? He has five correct. Yes! I can throw some water in your face. At least he’s the new chicken king. How did that happen? I was right about KFC, wasn’t I? Yeah, we can, let’s unpack everything in Good Mythical More. You made so much fun of me. But there’s some good takeaways. How does it just go on? Maybe forward? Is it like a LaVar Burden situation? He is the chicken king. He. Just be like, be like the guy on Star Trek. That’s what you oughta be like. He is like LaVar Burton. Oh, that’s Robin. I am so upset with me. Yep. You should be. But also you and, and all of y’all. I’m the chicken genius. Ha ha ha ha ha! Thanks for subscribing, commenting, sharing this video.
