We turned states into sandwiches.
Let's talk about that.
Good Mythical Morning.
Imagine with me.
Imagine the state of Florida-
Hmm.
… Made into a sandwich.
Okay, I'm imagining oranges and key lime
pie, and a shirtless man wearing alligator
boots riding on a riding a lawnmower into
a Walmart to steal various gummy foods.
Okay.
You know, Florida stuff.
Yeah.
O- open your eyes.
You are in the right mindset because
we are about to try some weird state
sandwiches over a little game of baseball.
It's time for State Sandwich Sluggers.
All right, fellas.
The ingredients inside each sandwich
that you're about to taste represent one
of the 50 states on the map over there.
Mm-hmm.
After you try a sandwich, you're gonna guess
the state it represents, and the closer you
get to the correct state, the further your
players advance around the baseball diamond.
Yeah.
And if you get it right on
the money, that's a home run.
Oh, yeah.
The person with the most runs at the
end of the game wins another spot
on the coveted Heavy Hitters helmet.
Wow, you won last time, which was the
first time we ever played this game.
We're making some gentle-
Gentle adjustments.
… updates.
And some gently-
Microevolution, we call it.
… microevolution.
I'm ready to taste.
The first sandwich is made up of the
official state treat, the official
state sweetener, and a food flavored
with the official state herb.
Herb?
Ooh, okay.
A food with the official state herb?
Herb.
And a sweetener.
What kind of sweetener do you see in there?
It's chewy.
Chocolatey.
'Cause that's a- Marshmallowy.
What is that?
And, and this is a gum?
Yeah, I think it is.
It's, it's a minty, chewy stick,
which I think might be gum.
I'm trying to, like, chew and
eat everything around the gum.
And the Mythical Kitchen team says
you shouldn't swallow gum 'cause
it'll stay in there for seven years.
Oh, good information.
That's a lie, Chase.
Hmm.
What do you call that?
Is this a, is this a moon pie?
It's not a moon pie, 'cause a moon
pie is, is harder on the outside.
I don't know what you call it, but
I don't think you call it that.
I like it, except I don't
like it when I'm chewing gum
So I'm just gonna spit out the gum?
But of what he said,
where did the gum come in?
'Cause he said the State
treat, which is this thing.
He said- Sweetener … a sweetener,
which I think is inside the bread.
Oh, you do?
A syrup of some kind.
It's syrupy.
Oh, it's on the plate.
I don't recognize this marshmallow treat,
and this gum is just very- An herb?
very minty.
Oh, a mint gum.
Hmm.
Well, you're up, buddy Rolex.
Okay.
Yeah, so Link, you lost last time, and that
means you get the advantage of going first.
But it was close.
I do remember that.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
All right.
I was looking for a dart.
Honestly, I see a map and I'm looking
for a dart, but this is baseball.
It's different.
Give me a bat.
Some sort of mint.
I know that the Wrigley twins
lived in Sedona, Arizona.
And if that's Wrigley's gum, I don't
know what- But how… What does that
have to do with- … that chocolate
thing is … but what does that have to
do with any of the things that you said?
If, if, if we're wrong about the
mint and it's just gum, I don't know.
I'm just- Well, no, I think you got it.
It's mint gum.
It's mint.
Where does mint grow in the United States?
And what kind of mint is it?
Is it spearmint?
Is it peculiar mint?
It's, it's still… I mean, do you
feel like you have… You're sitting
on something that you have- No.
Yeah.
This one- … this one's tough.
No, my friend.
This one's tough.
Um, I'm not gonna say the South because
I don't know what kind of sandwich
that is, and that's where I'm from.
Neither one of us knew it, so
we're going away from that.
Spearmint.
Hmm.
Maybe I'm right for the
wrong reasons about Arizona.
What's different?
What's spearmint versus peppermint?
But you're not growing a lot of
mint in a desert reas- region.
What's the reason?
What's the reason for that?
I am gonna go with…
I'm going with Illinois,
just out of pure guessage.
There's something about this treat that feels
like a Ohio thing, you know what I'm saying?
Just, like, some kinda, like, cakey thing.
But- I would ask you why,
but I know you don't know.
You know, 'cause it just
feels like- Just vibes.
Just vibes, yeah.
We're just going on vibes.
But I feel like the sweetener… Is it agave?
I couldn't really taste the sweetener.
It wasn't strong like
syrup, and it wasn't syrup.
So when you said Arizona, I was like,
"Oh, does he also think this is agave?"
I didn't.
But you're right, there's no mint over
there in that part of the country.
I'm not gonna go all the way to
Arizona, but I will go to New Mexico.
Why not?
All right.
This sandwich represents Maine.
Maine.
So let's see what that
means for your runners.
I think that might be a
strike for both of us.
Strike out.
Yeah, it looks like, Rhett, you've
struck out, and Link, you've struck out.
Yeah, and listen, last time we played this
game- What a great inning … no strike outs.
No strike outs, and we both
started out with a strike out.
And neither of you knew that a
whoopie pie was a whoopie pie.
Whoopie pie.
Whoopie pie.
Oh.
I've heard of that.
Or that that was- Pure … pure
Maine maple syrup.
Oh, it's maple s- Yes.
Oh.
Is that agave?
And the state herb is wintergreen.
Wintergreen.
You really just couldn't identify anything.
What's the difference between
wintergreen and spearmint, really?
The time of year?
What's the difference between
a rhino and a spearmint rhino?
Van Nuys?
Next up on the plate is a sandwich made
of interesting foods all uniquely tied
to the cultures of one particular state.
Okay.
The cultures?
That's it.
That's all you're giving us.
How cultured of you.
What?
Mm-hmm.
Oh, that's strong.
Smell him, boy.
What is that?
What are these things?
Oh, I think I know.
Oh, God, that stinks in
like a pickley kind of way.
I'm afraid to taste it.
Mm. I know what that is.
Oh.
Huh.
It's like a bad candy.
Is that edible?
Ugh.
I am pretty sure we've
given you edible things.
What is that?
You're pretty sure?
I mean, we asked for everything to
be edible and the Mythical Kitchen
team said everything was edible.
And then this, this ringlet?
That's all I got.
Is that from a piece of seaweed?
Like, a big seaweed?
I mean, it just looks like a,
a pickle with a hole in it.
I mean, it's certainly pickled.
Alright.
The thing that it is.
You're up again, Neal.
Up to bat at the plate … is that,
I mean, that's not a cucumber.
Why would they, why would
they take the middle out?
Yeah, that's not a cucumber.
You're right.
Just the thought of you
thinking that made Carney laugh.
I know.
The idea of cutting a hole in the
cucumber for no reason made me laugh.
Well, it, it, well, there
might be cultural reasons.
Yeah, there could be
cultural reasons, Carney.
You know?
And there's no judgment there.
Oh my God, this is just more bread.
Oh, I s- you're just now getting to that.
Fried bread and then some sort of,
I mean, is this a… I think this
might be an underwater vegetable.
It's the strangest thing I've ever eaten.
It's not great.
It tastes like pine.
I just wish I knew what this was.
But it is your turn.
I'm thinking.
Oh.
Okay.
I mean, I don't know what- We're gonna
have to put the pitch clock on you.
These really stink.
They're pickled, but they kinda
stink, and you think it's something
that's underwater there, too.
All right, so I think he's thinking coastal.
I'm also thinking coastal.
So first place I'm going to is
Falkland Islands, which are-
They were annexed into America.
Yes.
But we just have to put that on every map.
We're trying.
We're trying.
We have to put it on every map.
That is not great.
Fried bread, pickled nasty.
Prickly nasty.
God, man, baseball is a slow game.
Yeah, it is.
Well, but not when you edit it.
Okay, I'm gonna say Hawaii.
I don't know.
This could be aquatic.
It very much could be aquatic,
but it could also be a succulent.
This could be a cactus of
some kind that's pickled.
And this is very cactusy,
and this is very fry bread-y.
Hmm.
So now I'm thinking, like,
the, a western state.
Like, I just feel like I'm
going back to New Mexico again.
Why am I going back to New Mexico?
New Mexico for the win.
No, this isn't the win.
This sandwich represents Alaska.
Oh.
Oh, dang.
I was- So let's see what
that means for your runners.
Oh, yes.
Hawaii gets a single.
For whatever reason, that means
that Link, you hit a single.
'Cause you're out in the ocean.
Because you went out in the
ocean, you get a single.
I will take it.
He rounds first base.
Oh, and then he has to go back
to the bag because they've
fielded it, or whatever they say.
So, Chase, could you tell us what- Can you
stretch out … what the vegetables are?
The one that you said, did you say
that tasted like a tree a little bit?
That was- Yeah … spruce tips.
Oh.
And then in your other hand,
the, uh, donut is kelp pickles.
Oh, it is kelp.
Yeah.
Aquatic.
Should've known.
Yeah, kelp's used in a variety of
different ways in, uh, Alaskan cuisine.
Yes.
Last round, we didn't eat the sandwich.
We picked it apart.
Oh, I- I feel like, I feel like we gotta
just- I ate every bit of it … all at once.
We gotta pick up the
sandwich and we gotta eat it.
No, you go first.
And then we can see what's in there.
Ugh.
It's, it's not gonna be good.
You, you happy with your, you
happy with your decision here?
I mean, I can take- So that one's got the
state poison, the s- I'm just kidding.
Uh, that's the state fruit, state squash,
and state pepper inside that sandwich.
Fruit, squash, and pepper.
Huh, this is not bad.
Seems like a grapefruit.
Squash, green pepper.
But state squash is a certain type of squash.
And grapefruit.
Is it a grapefruit?
I wanna make sure.
That is the least bitter grapefruit I've ever
had, but I'm still thinking it's a, a ruby,
a ruby grapefruit or whatever they call that.
Okay, so now I go first.
Yep.
Hmm.
Green pepper.
Yeah, not bad at all, but
I wouldn't recommend it.
Okay, there's nothing specific about
the squash that makes any sense to me.
So I'm basically gonna have to
go with s- the citrus of it all.
I mean, where do they grow
grapefruit besides Florida?
I'm sure other places.
Probably California.
You definitely need water.
We don't have that in California.
It's not, it's not Florida because that
would be an orange, which all the oranges
in Florida are not doing well, by the way.
Mm.
And the peaches in Georgia
are not doing well.
Lots of things are not doing well, guys.
So, so you're saying it's not Georgia?
The state fruit of Georgia
would be peaches, right?
Didn't we learn that last time?
I didn't learn anything last time.
Some people learned how baseball
works, but that wasn't me.
You said the state fruit.
I did say the state fruit.
The state fruit?
The state fruit is a grapefruit?
Where have you seen grapefruits?
In your travels, where
have you seen a grapefruit?
My nanny would always eat a grapefruit.
With sugar on it.
So, at her house.
With salt on it, actually.
I gotta think it's a southern state, and
I think it's pr- in proximity to Florida.
I'm gonna say Alabama.
Ah.
Alabama.
Yeah, that's weird.
C- That's weird.
Thank you.
But Florida, oranges; Georgia, peaches.
South Carolina could also be oranges,
but I don't think it's grapefruit.
It's just not… We don't know that much
about grapefruits, so it can't be that.
I'm gonna go with Mississippi.
Oh, right next door.
Green peppers and whatever that is.
All right.
This sandwich represents Texas.
Oh.
Texas?
You got it.
So let's see what that
means for your runners.
Yes.
Oh, and you're right on the
line of just getting a single.
Link- While I got the
double … you got the double.
Yes.
All right, so you got runners
on first and third now.
I'll use this opportunity-
Second and third 'cause you got a double.
Right, second and third.
I'll use this opportunity to explain
the way we're doing this again.
We're not just- And Rhett, you got a single.
We're not just moving Link's guy
that was on first all the way to home
because we're making it where you have
to be forced in in order to get runs.
Mm-hmm.
That's just the r- way we decided to do it.
Sue us.
Mm-hmm.
Grapefruits in Texas.
Yeah, apparently a lot.
It's actually the Texas red grapefruit.
Huh.
That would've made it easier.
This sandwich has a treat invented in
the state and the official state snack.
Uh- The official state snack must be Jell-O.
Well, there's only one way to do it.
Oh, there was another way, but…
Well, I thought you said- Yeah.
Yep … you wanted us to eat the sandwich.
Oh, we, we need to just
bite the sandwich, yeah.
I mean, I gotta get to it somehow.
The sound that made.
It's like you were smooching it.
It's, it's the official state snack and what?
It's sandwiched as a treat
invented in this state.
A treat.
It real, it real- Put it down?
It's real nice
It's real nice.
Okay, we gotta go… Ew.
Ew, what is that?
I didn't quite get to that.
You didn't even get to that?
I tried.
I tried.
It went hard.
Gross.
Like, I was hoping it would be
less gross looking over there.
Take a bite.
Oh, no.
What is this?
Let me smell.
It's a treat.
It's, it's fatty and nasty.
Hey.
Hey, what is that?
I can't.
I just-
So you think that's the treat?
Oh, it's chocolate.
Then why did you gag?
'Cause I thought it was like a, an organ.
Yeah, when I smelled it, I was like, "I don't
know why he gagged exactly." It's a cookie.
It's just a cookie in there.
And it's actually a really good cookie.
Oh, yeah.
It's great.
It's cold, too.
Mm. It's been hermetically sealed in Jell-O.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we're basically dealing
with Jell-O and cookies.
I think that's a Mrs. Fields
cookie, to be specific.
Oh, you do?
I don't know.
Um, and where are their fields?
Hmm.
Where are there Mrs.?
Everywhere, really, if you think about it.
Yeah, there's just not a lot of…
If I were Jell-O, where would I be?
I'd be in the Midwest,
hardcore in the Midwest.
And to be specific-
I would be in Illinois.
Which was my round one guess, which is like
a, it's a vibe place that we like to go.
Cookies and Jell-O.
Doesn't it feel right?
I'm actually feeling Wyoming.
Why?
Don't ask.
Wyoming.
This sandwich represents Utah.
Oh yeah.
Oh.
Again, buddy.
Ugh.
Triple.
So Link, yeah, you get a triple.
Yes.
And Rhett struck out.
Can you help us understand
what's, why that's Utah?
Well, the, um-
I got one run
…
The cookie's actually Crumbl Cookies.
Crumbl Cookies.
And Crumbl was invented in-
I got two runs.
That would've been it.
And Jell-O's their official snack.
And I got my batter all the way
to third, so he got two RBIs.
More baseball knowledge for
those of you who don't care.
Yes.
In front of you is a sandwich that
has the official state mushroom, snack
invented in the state, and a condim-
co- condiment invented in the s-
What?
What?
You gotta… Gross.
I, I read it beforehand- I mean- … and
I did the same thing in my mind.
W- I mean, this sauce is very unsettling now.
I promise you everything's edible.
Yeah, okay.
I'll… You know what?
I'll let you take a bite.
Well, that doesn't help.
I'll let you take a bite this round.
I think I'm all really red back here.
So you said condiment?
Condiment invented in the state.
Invented… Condiment invented in the
state, state mushroom, state chip.
Not state chip.
The chip was also made in-
Snack invented in the state.
Snack invented in the state.
So-
The only official state thing is the mushroom
… so it's, it's where Doritos were made.
It's where… I guess that's ranch.
It's on my face.
Is that ranch?
Mm. Is that in the Hidden Valley?
Yes, I believe that's ranch.
Ranch, Doritos and a… The type of
mushroom, it's a very meaty orange.
Is it orange because-
No, it's orange because of, uh-
… the Doritos?
… Doritos, I believe.
First of all, they're doing
great things in this state.
Yeah, they are inventing Doritos and ranch?
Yeah.
We're a fan of whoever you are.
So it's a place of industry.
I would be saying something, I
would be like Texas maybe, but
we, Texas is already happening.
Grapefruit.
And, uh, I feel like if Doritos and ranch
were from California, I would know that.
Maybe I wouldn't know that.
Man.
I'm gonna go back to Illinois
because Illinois is a place, like
Chicago has made a bunch of stuff.
You know?
They've made a bunch of
s- bunch of foods there.
I think that Doritos makes you think
Southwest, but that's a red herring.
The ranch makes me think California.
I just remember that ranch came from
California, but maybe it was that Hidden
Valley Ranch came from California.
Which came first, the
Hidden Valley or the ranch?
Ah, I don't know.
But then mushrooms take me out of the desert,
so I'm definitely not- Well, California's
a big state … trying to go s- I know.
That's why I'm not going,
like, s- New Mexico, Arizona.
I'm going with Cali.
All right.
This sandwich represents California.
Ah, yes.
Yes.
So Link, you got a home run.
Around the bases.
Wow.
Wow.
You know what?
Knock in that buddy on third.
Bring him in.
RBI and then, uh, you get yourself in there.
And Rhett, oh, let's see what that means.
Oh, sorry, you got another strike out.
Strike out.
But you were, uh, you were on the nose, Link.
Um, Hidden Valley actually
invented ranch and, uh-
Oh, they invented it.
Right here in California.
They, and this state invented Doritos?
I retained information on con-
And they invented Doritos.
And what kind of mushroom is this?
That's the California golden chanterelle.
Love it.
So it is golden.
Love it.
We love California.
It's easy to hate on California, but I mean-
Aw, only if you're jealous.
It's easy to love on it, too.
We got some new stuff in the store.
We've got GMM claw clips.
Look at that.
Rhett's got one in his hair there.
Looking all fancy with the- I wanna say
that I wasn't able to do this myself.
I had to get Jenna to do it.
I, I'm not familiar.
I'm gonna have to familiarize
myself with how, how this works.
Yeah, it's easy enough.
You just take that.
Well… GMM logo cockatrice
made into a claw clip.
Um, we also have mini tees.
I'm wearing one.
You know what time it is.
It just, it ends right there.
That's where the shirts are
supposed to end these days.
Right there.
Right there, too.
Well, it depends on who you are.
Right there.
We also have different colors.
Here's one.
Here's another color.
Oh.
They're like baby tees.
Your whole family can get these.
Yeah.
All four of you.
Look at that.
It's, it's a- If you're into
mini tees, we have them.
Mythical.com.
Mythical.com.
This sandwich contains the state cake.
That's it?
The state cake.
That's it.
That's a… We gave you a lot.
All right.
See if you can bite that.
Ooh, smushy smushy.
Oh.
Okay, then me.
Hmm.
Oh.
Fruity.
There's some coconut in there.
Nutty.
Cold?
What is that cake?
Hmm.
What is that?
Okay, Link.
We got two more innings here.
You cannot beat me, so- Even if I
got two homers, I couldn't beat you.
I will, I wanna make this interesting.
Oh, I appreciate that.
So
I will, just for the sake of com-
competition, walk one of your
batters to put him on base, and
then you can bat with the next guy.
But to get on base, I gotta bean you.
Oh.
We're gonna be playing with ping pong balls
in More, so I, I guess you're saying yes?
I hit the clips.
Okay.
All right.
I'm gonna walk.
So put one of my batters.
So walk 'em.
So now he's got two on base
and you get to guess first.
Is that a cranberry?
Hmm.
Yeah.
It is.
You think it is?
Hmm.
And Ocean Spray
Cranberry juice.
They're in Oregon or
Washington in that commercial.
Here's the problem, I gotta get somebody
on base, and if I go over there to that
part of the, the nation and I don't
get somebody on base, I still can't
win unless you walk somebody else.
I'm gonna go, I think it's a
cranberry, Ocean Spray, Washington.
I thought it was a date until you
said cranberry, and now I am pretty
convinced that it is cranberry.
What does that mean to you?
Uh, I think Washington might…
You might be home running it.
So I have to go with Oregon.
It's also coconut and something else.
I don't know what.
This sandwich represents Alabama.
Oh, g- what?
What kind of cake is it?
Let's see what that means for your runners.
Well, we know what it means.
Oh.
Nothing.
Everyone struck out.
This is the Lane Cake.
A Lane Cake is a moist vanilla cake
sandwiched with an eggy custard filling
with coconut, pecans, raisins and bourbon.
And then, like, um-
Raisins?
There's some other… I think there's a
couple other fruits in there, like cherries.
You tricked me into thinking
that a raisin was a cranberry.
Cranberries.
I got him.
It, it, it certainly didn't help me.
That doesn't taste Southern.
Our final sandwich is made up of
a traditionally enjoyed food combo
and a regionally iconic frozen
drink invented in the state.
Gross.
All right, so we've got frozen chili.
Oh, God, what is happening?
I'm trying to figure out how to pick it up.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah, of course.
Of course, of course, of course.
It's a sandwich.
I recommend biting that there.
I gotta keep looking at this
You said a c- food combo.
Bean chili and then whatever this… What
is this?
Oh, oh.
Oh.
Okay, well, okay.
Well, this is a cinnamon roll.
But you said it was frozen, right?
There's a frozen drink- Oh, a third
thing … that was invented in the state
What is that frozen drink?
Don't they put chili on
cinnamon rolls in Ohio?
I know they put chili on spaghetti in Ohio.
But don't they put it
on their cinnamon rolls?
I don't know why you're asking
that, because there's just three
things that don't go on each other.
We've put them on each other, in a sandwich.
No, no.
He said… Okay, I'll just be quiet then.
I'll just be quiet.
And I'm gonna say Ohio.
Ohio is a great guess.
If it's not Ohio, then it
better be Pennsylvania.
All right, this last
sandwich represents Wyoming.
Oh, no.
Why?
Oming.
I didn't… Oh, God.
So two zeroes.
Rhett and Link- Did I get nothing, too?
Yes.
You both struck out.
Oh, yeah.
Look, I almost got something.
So you're telling me that the,
the, the place that they put chili
on a cinnamon roll is Wyoming?
That is what I'm telling you.
I still can't believe that you
said that, or that it's true.
And what is that drink?
That is a, a sloshee, which is
a just spiked, frozen slushee.
We gotta study the states more.
All right, Link, you shut me up- This
was, this was a lot harder this time
than last time … this time last time.
Yeah, Link, you did it this time.
You're the winner, and you get to plant your
face on the coveted Heavy Hitters helmet.
Oh, look at me.
Keeping it interesting, and
isn't that just a nice placement?
I'm good at sticker placement because
I grew up playing with G.I. Joes.
Ah.
Thanks for commenting and sharing this video.
You know what time it is.
Hi, I'm Grace McCarty from Indianapolis,

I don't think she can answer.
Media.
I don't think she can answer.
You're a media talker.
Use that.
We want to give something
