people have gone over Niagara Falls in some bizarre ways and survived let’s talk about that good mythical more Shh like a hydro beacon get it of us Canadian diplomacy Niagara Falls is nestled between Ontario and New York State oh yes what you’re doing I really want to go to Niagara Falls especially after learning all the things I’ve learned about these survival stories now I’m not saying I want to go over any Falls but that’s what we’re gonna talk about today I do yeah well you can survive wait I’ve heard you could survive going over them wait well wait until the end of the episode and see it and just see how you feel about it okay now you’ve never been in Niagara Falls either I have not only in my dreams maybe maybe we’ll go together and we’ll see firsthand what these people who’ve seen the thing it’s occurred to them you know what I’m just not going to look over the falls I’m going to go over the falls yeah it’s just waiting to happen you look at it and you think I got to do it I mean somebody’s got to try it six million cubic feet that’s 168 thousand cubic meters of water flows over the crest line every member second minute every minute in high flow waterfall is 160 foot now the this is Horseshoe Falls there’s three Falls Horseshoe Falls American Falls Bridal Veil Falls Horseshoe Falls are the one that people yeah three different Falls the one new the one that people try to go over is Horseshoe Falls because there’s not as many rocks at the bottom 165 feet over 50 meters to the bottom that’s like 16 stories so here I’m gonna play a game I’m going to present to you these stories all of these stories are true of people who’ve gone over the falls right the question I want to ask you is you do you think after I describe each one whether they survived or not maybe okay though I have 70s if you get four of these right you get to douse me with water from actual Niagara Falls we ordered it and everyone brought if you get less than four I get to douse you with the on her 63rd birthday 24 1901 63rd birthday Michigan schoolteacher Annie Taylor curled up in a five-foot tall wooden barrel with her lucky shaped heart-shaped pillow she hoped to be the first person to survive going over the falls in a barrel and to earn money by telling her story for the rest of her life uh she did go over in a barrel a woman who is made it to 63 living a life like that you got to assume that she just kept right on living I think she lived a schoolteacher yes yeah Annie Taylor survived she was the first person go women you know Taylor was discovered to be alive and relatively uninjured except for a small gash on her head after the journey she told the press it was with my dying breath I would caution anyone attempt I can’t read this correctly she said something it wasn’t that in broken English cursor she’d just been it had a head in she was the with the first attacking people to go go over the falls to date note it is illegal we are not saying you should do it Nathan Boyer also known as William Fitzgerald I don’t know he acted weird on July 15 1961 went over the falls in a rubber ball nicknamed the plunge Oh sphere the ball hit the rocks on impact and ballast yeah and he died cuz he’s got two names and the guy didn’t deserve to live he died he survived really uninjured aside from a few bruises he was in a rubber ball he was in a bouncy about Asha said he lived dang it Robert over crackers last name was over cracker on October 1st 1955 he rode a jet ski over the brink of Horseshoe Falls wearing a parachute ha ha ha good one tail over cracker to help promote awareness for the homeless what year 1995 you bring a jet ski mMmmm I got an idea I want to promote awareness for the homeless got ideas meet him yeah you got a jet ski I’d like for you to parachute you got a waterfall misty is dead I’m sorry rest in peace over cracker right his parachute did not open but Rob did end up promoting better parachutes really with that little joke no joke Jessie sharp on June 5th 1990 went over the falls in a kayak makes sense he did not wear a lifejacket you don’t need one but he did make dinner reservations for miles 6.4 kilometers that is downstream at a restaurant in Lewiston he was going to just keep on paddling if he lived or not did he uh this seems like a pretty idiotic thing dude to do I mean for my all be idiotic but without the lifejacket this guy had a death wish and I think he wanted to die he had a reservation and if he did die he didn’t have a death wish he did die though he disappeared after going over the falls in his body has never been discovered I wonder about his kayak though was that discovered Bobby leach July 25th 1911 he tried to be the second person to go over the falls the first man and he built a specially designed metal barrel and it had a window oh that was a mistake it’s a picture of it right there you think that can make it over the falls and and live oh I definitely think so I definitely think he could have but I don’t think he did nope he didn’t die he survived they did he’d survived right you said he died yeah he survived he did die 15 years later from slipping on an orange peel you’re kidding not kid even a banana peel he slipped on an orange peel some people say it was a banana peel but it does suffer debate what isn’t is that he got an infection in his leg like when they had to amputate it after the fall it’s pretty best pretty bad for he technically died from the fall no he died from he died from the infection in his leg from the amputation dental applications from so what am I at right now how many my gotten right so I got to get this one right in order to pour it for water on you Carol sue sick right July 3rd I got two more 1984 this is 73 73 years after Bobby built something he also built his special barrel it was red in his and his name was painted on the side as a mistake to his descent divorce reported to reach 75 miles-per-hour hundred twenty one kilometers an hour oh that’s a nice detail so this is out pretty fast 75 years later the guy and the earlier survived in a barrel but I would go counterintuitive here and I’m gonna say that that guy died he did not die Oh what I’ve only missed three and I’ve gotten hobby right it comes down to this comes down to this money I don’t door that Niagara Falls honey yeah yeah he didn’t die he survived but it did take 45 minutes for the barrel to be recovered and he was fine five hundred dollars only minor injuries to his face caused by his wristwatch crazy all right now check this one out Kirk Jones October 22nd 2003 he tried to become the first person to survive the drop without any aid or protection at all Kirk jumped in with his clothes on and back floated over the a lot he just like pants in her shirt back float I feel like I would have heard about this 2000-2003 if he survived you two heard about it did he die or not he died cold I grow Jones survive no he didn’t he was fine $2,300 in banned for life from entering Canada but he lived how did he live he just he said he rolled up he said it was like being in a giant tunnel going straight down surrounded by water he said he hit hard hard he was okay he
