today we find out if we’re narcissists let’s talk about that good mythical morning are you a narcissist link I’m now you a narcissist enough prepared to answer that question yet and contrary to popular belief a narcissist is not a cyst that is Narcy okay yeah I actually that I prepared a bad joke too I’ve been waiting I’ve been sitting on that one up all night my joke is a narcissist as the is defined as a narcissist no let’s try to tell my bad joke a narcissist is defined as the response that a person in the deep south gives when asked is that a mo narcissist narcissus my veteran are narcissists narcissists narcissists see it that’s how that’s pretty good where I’m from both they consist jokes well what up where else can you go so where I’m from that’s what a narcissist is it’s a nursery well I already told you but I’m ownership it’s a word that’s thrown around a lot um and I think I got a decent idea of what it is but it’s one of those that there’s this like shred of doubt in my mind that I might be using the word a little incorrectly so I don’t say it you know I’m about to do I’m about to shred your doubt okay I’m gonna teach you where their word came from and I’m gonna find out if we are or you are a narcissist not refused of course narcissus was a character from Greek mythology he was a hunter who was renowned for his beauty he’s a beautiful hunter and he was exceptionally proud because of his beauty and then one day nemesis who guess was his nemesis that’s probably where the word nemesis comes from you think notice this behavior and he attracted narcissus to a pool where narcissus saw his own reflection in the pool fell in love with it and then did not leave and eventually died so he sounds like an idiot oh yeah but he just you know it’s just a story so that you can understand just how much this guy was in love with himself and then the story ends a couple of different ways in one version he just dies because he’s there and he’s at a pool and he never wants to leave and another version he’s so upset that he can’t actually love the reflection because he realizes it’s his own reflection that he kills himself and in some versions he turns into a flower after dying so there’s that to look forward to if you’re a narcissist maybe you’ll become a flower now I think that’s where the Red Fern Grows okay seriously now what is a narcissist its narcissist or it’s a narcissist no it is a person who is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy power prestige and vanity and they are mentally unable to see the damage they are causing to themselves and others due to this preoccupy so it’s not just self self absorption it’s self absorption that is clinically diagnosed about that leads to harm of other people because again when you get into these these personality disorders and these psychological issues there’s a lot of gray area but most psychologists say that about 1% of the population suffers from what they would call narcissistic personality disorder meaning that they are so self-absorbed that it does affect their lives in a major way in their the way they think about themselves and also the relationship that they’re in okay and an interesting an interesting way to think about this is are we getting more narcissistic because of our culture I mean you know we talked about this before selfies this generation we’d like to take pictures of ourselves we’d like to get the right angle and we like to present ourselves through social media in a way that our parents did not ever think about doing right was I mean certainly my grandparents I mean there’s this kind of I grew up in hardship and I’m not I’m just thinking about I’m moving from like a level of survival to a level of enjoying life and then it kind of shifts to well can you with maybe our parents and maybe us you believe more about believe the best about yourself right to now you’re saying to believe that everyone wants to see the best you myself even when we were kids they started the whole like self image movement right like believe in yourself love yourself if you don’t love yourself who’s going to love you our parents never got that kind of information so we grew up thinking that were special and that we were supposed to love our sight and then I think this next generation gets all that plus the social media stuff so I mean I think there’s probably myself you love myself the National Institutes of Health determined the 9.4% of 20 to 29 year olds exhibit extreme narcissism compared to 3.2 percent of those older than 65 so there is some evidence for this and we have a tool to help you determine if you’re a narcissist yes and us so here’s we’re going to do we have a linked here’s link but there’s also a link in the description to a test that you can take that will give you some insight into whether or not you might have a narcissistic personality disorder so we have taken the test but what we’re going to do is if you we’re going to go through some of the questions right now just kind of give you a flavor of the test if you don’t want to take it but you could pause the video right now go to the link in the description take the test and then come back it’s up to you welcome back those of you who pause the video at the exact right time welcome back those that pause the video a little bit late and welcome to you that waited this long so again we have taken these tests we haven’t shared our answers with each other and before we do we can give a flavor of what the test is like but should we say that there’s some stakes here like you’ve got some apparatus over here that the person who is more narcissistic will be penalized between the two of us yes so you oh okay I’m glad you think that I’m just are you glad because that probably means your narcissist okay I’m gonna give you a couple these questions the answers aren’t easy some of them some of them are easy and some of them are like long I’m gonna be honest I’m not gonna write you know I prefer to blend in with a crowd or I like to be the center of attention you pick the one that you resonate with more and these are kind of it’s a clear choice here and I you know I think it’s pretty obvious what we both chose for that one I mean when you start your own internet show and hope that people watch you for 10 plus minutes every single day I think you want to be the center of attention yes I feel confident if I feel confident I am willing to take responsibility responsibility for making decisions or I like to take responsibility for making decisions implied even if I’m not totally right this is like our competence do you want to be the boss even if you don’t know what you’re doing just so you can order people around and be the boss or you’re like no I don’t want to make a decision unless I know that I I know what I’m doing so it’s like Authority for Authority’s sake I mean there’s lots of people I mean that’s not that’s not unattractive to me I got to say this isn’t that this wasn’t an easy one to answer well I think about the cops who pull you over and you think they’re giving you a ticket just because they’re on a power trip yeah narcissist oh but I would not recommend and call it calling any police officer that’s pulled you over or in any any person officer narcissist who’s pulled you over to column and narcissist I guess that is their last name yeah I just want to be reasonably happy or I want to amount to something in the eyes of the world now this is not an either/or so some of these get they do get more difficult because it’s it’s kind of like the personality test we took a few months back most people want both of these right you everybody wants to be reasonably happy and everybody wants to amount to something right most you have to if you have to choose one would you rather be a happy person that that never accomplished anything or would you rather be somebody who’s a little unhappy but accomplished all they’re so tied together like investing is something accomplishing something equates to it equals fulfill maybe for you narcissist oh so you just want to be happy I want a lake house with a jet ski and maybe a paddleboard or something and I’d I feel like I will be happy so you just want to be like Aquaman or something around water yeah how are we surrounded by water on an island I want a lake house on an island which that’s weird an island in the middle of a levy give us one more I don’t particularly like to show off my body or I like to show off my body this is an easy one for me when we have to do things where we remove the shirts on good mythical morning which happens more often than I would like it to I’m not excited about it well I’m not violent hey let me take off my shirt so you can spray silly string on me it wasn’t like I was jumping up and down but when when when you expose your body to the crowd do you think I like that I’m exposing my body to the crowd no I’m like please cover it it was silly string exactly as possible okay all right so we have taken the test and link now we are going to bring up results and see who is more of a narcissist I know my number they give you a number um and I know my number and I know that I put yeah I predict your numbers higher my number could be lower but I’ll go first what’s your number and say what see what we win here so you the person is more of a narcissist has to wear this narcissist hat and then we’re either going to put your picture or my picture in there and it’s patience you can look at yourself all the time just like narcissus and nothing ours okay what’s your score I got a 17 all right I’m not gonna change my answer I got an 18 oh and let me tell you something averages show that us celebrities average it like 17.8 with ink so we’re both gay okay that’s a good listen what’s an arse as a 12 to 15 is average so we’re both more narcissistic maybe significantly more narcissistic than the average person but what makes a narcissist quite number I said if you get 20 or above you might need to see so you might need to get help you might need to see somebody to find out if you have it it doesn’t necessarily mean that you do but if you get 20 or above you might need to go see somebody but link what you need to do is put on the narcissism hat but what Oh Here I am and I’m gonna put your picture in here I’m so close to myself I do feel like I’m I’m I’m about to fall in a pool of water that is that is me listen nobody there how you feel uncomfortable happy about that it’s like why do I want to
