Kardashian cry face yeah yeah but there has to be a better way so today we’re gonna challenge ourselves to cut an onion without crying let’s get weird with it cutting an onion okay to get started we’re gonna have a little bit of a control group we’re just gonna cut some onions to show that they make us cry mm-hmm I don’t think that one’s gonna make me cry have you ever cut onion I rarely cut an onion are we about but I should witness the first time you’ve ever cut an onion no I’ll slice a little bit of an onion and dice it yeah take oh my take your glasses off nevermind maybe that’s why you have a cry my sandwich or something but I’m not really good at music died don’t don’t don’t cut my face or my finger just get your face over it I mean yeah I guess shut take the skin off I would just cut some slices and I’m gonna just take these and just start dicing them I’m not crying yet but I am afraid that I’m gonna cut my hand I’m not I’m not really good at cutting all right what’s happening over there like you know how to cut it onion drew I’m gonna move this down through this in my elbows face start nothing nothing nothing okay you can Oh baby does it flow it left eyes on fire you’re not getting anything no irritation at all no man I’m telling you my nose is burning the eyes are not burning what we did to make yourself cry thing before we had done so many things that before we got to this point that it was basically impossible to make ourselves cry anymore I’m gonna cut another fresh one what kind another fresh one to up up starting to burn I mean you might have a little bit of a resistance – about us didn’t think anybody was immune to it cuz it’s an irritant it’s not like a asparagus thing I mean I got it real bad in my left eye I mean I don’t think I’m gonna like start crying like a baby it doesn’t make you emotional it just makes your eyes water um but I’m gonna go for it I’m really gonna just I’m gonna get right down oh uh it’s at oh wow Oh me Wow I won’t cry I won’t cry wouldn’t onion this is crazy bad wait let me see yeah you’re crying it’s not flowing yet I want to make it float my left eye really really really gets it what am i why my left eye so sensitive don’t have a fake right on you haven’t told me until now yeah you got a wooden right eye I never told you got a full tear full tear oh can you get a close-up of what I have you got moist eyes but yeah I got here’s coming straight out to the bottom of your eye but look at that left eye that’s tear man there’s nothing when I get really emotional this is what happens just a little bit all I can say is my eyes are very irritated okay so we’ve established yes we are sensitive to the onion we are susceptible and now let’s get weird with it oK we’ve recovered now the reason that onions make us cry and make you cry is because when you cut into them you break the onion cells there’s a pretty complex chemical reaction that takes place that leads to sulfuric compounds being released into the air and then that interacts with your eyes activates your tears it’s an irritant now with this weird technique which we’re told as legitimate both of these right you’re gonna put a match an unlit match I’m not gonna light it I’m not gonna light it either this part no no no leave the green part out because what the head of the match is supposed to do is absorb some of the sulfuric compounds that are wafting up towards your eyeballs they’ll get sucked towards that now that seems suspect that seems a little sis well this sends even more yeah I mean it would at least seem like more of a complete blockage than what you’ve got also more of a complete meal though you can eat that I envy you right now I have a piece of white bread I don’t my mama my mama I think you mean your wife my mama used to give me the alewife it does not not that does not allow you to have it white bread alright so uh let’s begin okay so the same process just everyday onion cutters here we are working at the in-and-out burger mm-hmm I’m so afraid you’re gonna cut yourself mmm because your technique oh you should do your fingers like this so you don’t cut so if you hit your fingernail if you hit anything I look smart with some bread hanging onto my mouth on it we’re all very worried about you right now I’m gonna be okay mm okay I’m just doing the same thing nah I’m just being normal about this just cutting onions like them like Amanda I’m just lettin bread hang out of my mouth like a man does I’m a bread hanging mouth man that’s like a Johnny Cash song I’m a bread hanging mouth man coming down the line buy a ticket for my train last time I hung bread from my mouth I killed a man in broad daylight okay I can feel a little irritation in the arm I’m not gonna lie to you I feel like it’s pretty comfortable actually how you doing over there bread hanging man tastes great oh yeah was there someone though you can’t have a glasses on it’s gotta be a testament right sorry about that what’s wrong with you I can’t see without who I’m immediately gonna buy sex to get out Brett hangman hmm I had a bread eating man your bread hanging man mom okay so I’m definitely but it’s not making me it’s not stinging as bad but I’m gonna go in closer mm-hmm I’m getting a lot of stinging there’s no way this is catching all of it it’s just a little Matt kid he doesn’t hurt his bad though mm not well I think there’s some I would say there is a marginal effect with the match I’m just gonna go as far as to say a marginal effect I mean like I’m on the verge of like just totally boohoo in here if you need to pass gas right now just let me know cuz I could I could also take care of that with a match I could do you know what time it I don’t want to that’s not what that’s not internet worthy this is a classy internet show I just gave you a gentlemen’s offer too far yeah I felt like something else could have happened oh if you tried to force a fart yeah season finale would come earlier this year okay like I said not working that well for me but it tastes good you know what immediately having done the match my eyes are significantly more irritated and I’m not making this up any excuse to eat white bread it’s a good idea for me but I don’t know if it helped that much me a piece of that good in it now one simple way to not have an onion irritate your eyes when you’re cutting it is just to move away from and then I’m a pretty tall guy so I’ve got a little bit of reach so you just put an onion up here now I’ll demonstrate this okay I had to take the knife to my hand because when I reached just for safety I well and sometimes I’m not as quite as coordinated when I’m really reaching now I never noticed your right forearm being slightly longer than your left forearm well it’s really just the right arm it’s the whole thing yeah have you ever seen me extend both arms at the same time no I haven’t it’s really one of those things if I’m extending both of them in pretty obvious yeah it’s it’s definitely longer anyway put the onion down there and I’ll cut it and what I probably won’t cry because of the the distance I’m because of the reach you know it’s typically I just kind of get it lined up and I just oh that’s what I do right there you know it’s times you hit a not here I’ll hold it for you okay but the one thing I will confirm as I select these engines is that I’m not feeling anything at all no irritation at all now how’s your hand feel it’s it’s got some rigor mortis in it yeah did you know that I feel good massage all right yeah yeah maybe you kid yeah you know and one of the things I can do with my right on this a little bit long as my left arm is I really I work up up I really work up a lot of speed because of the leverage you know Shh could you imagine if both of ours were this long I know what should I be capable so um uh so this is a valuable technique for everyone yeah I just distance yourself and you’re not crying right crying it all just all right just use your natural reach [Music] okay so the dollar the blade that you’re using the more damage is done to the onion which means that there’s more of the sulfur compound release of the sharper the blades the less irritation to your eyes so link just stepped out to give some super sharp blades and now he’s back wow those are incredibly sharp link I would say even glorious yes friend of the show John heater allowed me to wear his blades of glory costume this is actually it man no I’m the money joke legitimately yeah Will Ferrell has his matching costume but he wouldn’t let you borrow it right yeah so I’m just gonna stay down here and place onions these are sharp yeah we supplied these you ready to do some damage oh yeah give me a tree oh you crying nope I’m actually smiling I am a little like it is see what you can do with this one are you crying since you’re at crotch level with this costume yeah yeah I don’t think has anything to do with the onion oh look that was trying to get away they all got away yeah you didn’t actually hit let’s do this give me a fresh gonna give your freshman don’t jump on this one put one right here and then one right here I want you to jump in the air and I want you to cut both of them at the same time that’ll be easy yeah look at that it’s really good me like worse than ever this is like the worst that is bent I might actually cry over you it’s fine right oh yeah I’m good I don’t know if those blades are quite sharp enough Lee but they look incredible oh I hurt so bad yeah [Music] now one common technique is to use a fan to waft away the fumes while you’re chopping an onion but we thought why not just use the fan to chop the onion here’s the fan and here are the onions hit it alright onion sir oh yeah what are these oh yeah you want to use the goggle today yeah let’s do it here we go there you go I got flood another face two at a time shall we Oh red onion in the home [Music] that’s not fun enough about bunions did it cut any of them I’m gonna go get these onions bring them back just work paying off oh there is an unbelievably good-looking mixture of onions down in here but then funny I mean onions mixed grab one don’t cut that oh that’s good oh man what I’m not reaching in that fan hmm that’s a nice a good time we’ve done good well we did this to a lot of onions every little bit counts right
