I miss Suzy what they what they say back screenshot their response si let’s get textual whoo welcome to good mythical more I saw Travis Tritt in concert with my dad this is pre going to Dubai and fighting fires with my dad would in the future right yeah so everything is preset right pretty yeah everything but that is happening that is how I’m going to measure time from now on like pre Dubai jet packs firefighting with my dad after Travis and before Dubai 80 well it’s not just Dubai’s before BD jet pack firefighting in Dubai with my dad so it’s it’s a lot of letters well that might might spell something out where did you see that up I was at the Jordan Jordan er II know this was not a state fair scenario I mean I’m sure this listen I would give you if Travis Tritt has not played to the dort Marina well yeah but my pinky off and mail it to Alaska just some post-office well that was post when he was in his heyday at the Walnut Creek or whatever it’s called now Walnut Creek pavilion amphitheater Wow that that’s a big venue I’ll tell you what all the Beach Boys there I’ll tell you what Cooley I danced with the middle-aged women there was an opening act that don’t remember and then the stage goes dark and they set up tricks stuff tricks he’s got quite a setup he’s got a lot of trip out there and then like to go dark yeah and then I was sudden the screens come up and it’s the national anthem so he patriotic being sung by George Jones a video video yeah George Jones with me I didn’t follow him on tour George Jones is now dead he’s country music legend if you don’t know I called the possum he’s famous for not showing up to his own concerts no Joe Jones so he showed up at every Travis Tritt concert because he was on the jumbotron guaranteed to be singing the national anthem that’s American right there and then Travis Tritt came out and it was all downhill from there no so great no he I mean one of the one of the better vocalists from the late a late only early 90 in country music I mean we were normal top-five country vocalists from for like a seven-year period which not a lot of people can say that and he was good to he did not I do not recall him doing what rubs us the wrong way at concerts that I know you want to talk about yeah so you you’ve experienced this phenomenon and I came to think maybe it having more in country music maybe sister because I go most of the most of the concerts that I’ve been to in my life has been crushing music ah yeah but back in high school we would go to a lot of country music concerts they start in LAN Halen they start playing that we went to one they start playing the song that you love and oh yeah this is what I love and then he starts singing it and they change the melody and it’s like you get the sense that the artist is tired of the song so that now they’re like this is the concert version and you’re like trying to sing along with it and it’s like going either it’s like saying in the harmonies all time you’re like what the crap is this about why are you changing the song that I paid for and I paid to come see I don’t think they’ve gotten tired of it I think it’s evolved in their own iterative performance and they don’t know it’s different day they’d 0% chance that’s correct you think they don’t know that it’s change I feel I feel like I’m gonna put money on this no way ticket to Dubai I check it you divide all of Drive is true oh we’re gonna call Trevor I’ll call mine I got a minute so so what we’re like on this like we’re hearing don’t call trav where for some reason today we’re on this weird I’m not on a per hour trip but it’s like oh yeah we’re going to talk to Dana Carvey and he’s going to listen now we’re going to talk to Travis Tritt he’s right Travis yeah we’d like to have a legitimate conversation with you and only you it can be in a public or private forum where we discuss the intricacies of live musical performance and the reasons why performance of the songs change over time now now these are the musical genius let me make it clear physical genius but before we place a new bet with a bet to do bet I want to be clear on my stance I am NOT saying that Travis or any artist would say no I do not get tired of my music and I want to keep it fresh for me so therefore I change it yes they all artists will say that but from a scientific perspective I do believe there’s a deeper rooted explanation that have to do with iterative performances night after night that in their own brain if you ask them when’s the last time you’ve heard the single version that all the audience’s listen to and unless they have a discipline of doing that and you played it for him they’re like oh yeah that’s I do hit those notes differently and they would be surprised that’s what I disagree without not surprised I would say is if you’re talking they would acknowledge motivation or the yeah the realization those are two different things so I’m saying that it may happen somewhat naturally by oh I’m singing this song and I just think that differently but I would say that 99% of the time they know that their singing ability internal it’s intentional you’re saying it’s no no no no no you may not be intentional it may be like I was singing it and I got into it and I found myself singing it differently but if you were to ask did you sing that song like it was on your single they would be like no I changed it they wouldn’t know that Sturgill we were the Sturgill we’ve been to Sturgill two or three times now right we have Clemson and the last time we went or maybe the second time he played every song differently like he was there was nothing that he’s saying the same and he got up for the parts where there was harmony from the drummer and then he would kind of lock in because he was singing with somebody and you’re telling me the Sturgill Simpson doesn’t know that he’s singing it differently of course he knows he’s singing it different he wrote the song in a particular way and I don’t think he doesn’t I really like all music I can’t believe that you of all people are saying this because all the songs that we write if I got you but I can’t remember the word you wouldn’t remember the melody but I would know if I’m singing it differently i guarante guarantee in fact that’s the best test case right there knowing if I’m singing one of our old songs differently and out I mean it made me like a 90/10 like 10% of the changes are unintentional and iterative but 90% the vast majority of changes that people make the songs are just because they’ve gotten bored with it and they know that they’ve made the change that is my assessment Travis your you can we’ll see you on Friday I think we’re going to beat oh I think we’re going to be split down the middle both right because I think both they’re not mutually exclusive to say that like when you perform a song again and again and again there is a drift there’s a melodic now they better bring it federal Simpson on the show we got a dirt field trip and Carvey all in the name show to discuss all these things and I’m gonna be dressed like well art is going to become be weird if I’m like dressed like I’m gonna be in like a circle are probably gonna be like really guys why do I have to be with Tripp I mean like he was did his thing years ago and now you’re gonna just group me with Tripp and carving I mean I mean I’m nominated for a Grammy for the album of the year crazy he wouldn’t he would Hugh and I have a problem showing up at RIT but any of those guys if you want to be on the show he mean you want to be on the show by yourself you don’t have to you don’t have to go do a trio with tritt and carving you can just come on by yourself Garth you’re invited too yeah thanks for sticking around for good mythical more if you want to watch more well we don’t have good mythical more more but we do have a lot more videos here’s two of them also click the circular channel icon
