the modern world you kind of want to know where your kids are at at all times and that was we had a totally different thing with our parents it was like they just wanted to know that we would be home before dark right and that literally one for dinner you don’t eat dinner that was it that was the only requirement but there was no geo-locating the kid at any point and there was no contacting the kid at any point and but now it’s like oh I know where my kid is at but he can still hang out with his friends best of both worlds and that was one of the things that they said helicopter parenting is contributing to this trend as well like I knew I knew how to make a collect call from a payphone like that’s something only prisoners know how to do now right you know it’s like every kid knew what now only prisoners know how to do yeah and then every day after middle school which was also our elementary school Buies Creek Elementary we got held back we didn’t know I went through a kid race we would go across the street to the Oasis which was a gathering of trees in front of like a mud hole in the desert it was actually the Student Center at Campbell University so as you know we grew up in Buies Creek home of Campbell University the camel Campbell Campbell’s that’s the mascot I’m not making this up and so the Student Center was called the Oasis now the Student Center because I have a very camel to go to drink I haven’t been here recently there recently but Campbell has changed significantly since the mid-80s like what is way bigger it’s there’s much more going on but at that time there were couches the diamond center it was just a teeny little restaurant that served hamburgers hot dogs oh yes miss Royce oh really a room was in charge a toaster roister and no oysters just burgers from royster and then a room with couches and a television and then another room that had a ping-pong table a pool table wonderful team yes and some arcade games like pac-man like three of them was in there how does me repair sconces on the wall I remember that khonsu’s god I don’t remember the TV the TV room was a separate room and it had a flat screen television in it you had a flat screen television but I didn’t reject her that projector behind well when you it was a kind of thing when you got up to the screen and you look down there was a red light a green light in a blue light the RGB lights humor these old televisions the first big-screen television yeah that shot up at a 45-degree angle to light the television it literally projected it onto the television that we thought that was the coolest but we would hang out with not only each other but also with I mean like David Rogers was frequent as David Rogers there ah Anna who was my girlfriend for parts of that time and her friend but also front of us Heather yep who Heather Heather Heather didn’t take no no jump from me and but I dish it out a lot I was like I was I was oh you were I was a smart aleck as a child uh no and I think I think I’ve told the story before and I remember it even less now than probably the last time I told it but I still remember the main point which was I was there with my girlfriend Anna at the time you were there Heather shows up I think like I got my like bravado on and I was like giving my girlfriend’s best friend a hard time the Heather’s not the person that you that you needed she’s not a good target because I don’t remember what I said but I know it was something snarky is smart-aleck key yes she grabbed me by the top of the head she grabbed me by the hair she walked she stood up walked over to me grabbed me by the hair with one hand kind of picked me up a little bit and then slapped me with the other hand across the face it was not beautiful I mean when you’re five survive it the great thing about a slap is that you know your face goes with the slap and it so you kind of take some of the but not one right I’ll get breaks but when the face is braced it’s just like smack and then it just all stopped and everything reverberate it inside like I a molar got loose right but the worst yeah a little more padded up yeah in the cheeks more pg-13 addenda yes a little go Anna she was into those the chipmunk cheeks but this is what we would do as middle schooler so if you could think that her mouth was my pride of course if you could get I have not recovers if there could be food in the center that was any less cool I can’t imagine what it would be it was a there was never any college students there it was just middle schoolers who would go and hang out there yeah like the Campbell students really we’re not hanging out there the the middle school troop has taken over I saw middle school and get slapped brutally but that was poster I only chilling that we did I mean you could literally put that on a poster I mean like put it in kids rooms the moment of median flap I mean that’s the definition I don’t talk I think it was a guy it was caught on tape so that’s going to happen there no pictures of it there was no paparazzi in the corner like well that’s that’s why our our youth was short lift are you going to let your kids because there was no proper odd are you going to let your kids do this do this thing because you know this oh yeah I’m people I’m teaching Lily the the grass to slap right now that’s what you mean no I’m talking about the live chillin are you gonna like if you walk into a room and you your kids on it on an app and there’s like three or four of their friends are you going to be like I knew this was coming and this is just who I am I’m a parent of one of these now yeah I’m a yeah I am a parent of three of these yeah so yeah I as long as I know who the kids are for the most part I mean after background checks yes I think as long as you maintain the kids maintain the ability to have a conversation with a person and like look somebody in the eye and eye and engage you know I think that they can do the video chatting but if they can’t do that no video chatting you can’t that can’t you can’t let that be the only way that you communicate with people and then if you can’t yeah you can’t look
