(rooster crowing) (lion roaring) – Hey. It’s Good Mythical More time. For you, and me, and him. 10 word story. – We’re gonna tell a 10 word story. You wanna start it? – Cranky. – Mice. – Want. – Large. – Servings. – Of. – Dusty. – Pieces. – Of. – Niblets. – Niblets. A niblet’s like a riblet. – It’s like a riblet, yeah. – This is good, I kept putting it- – Cranky mice want large servings of dusty pieces of niblets. – Right, just give it to ’em. Trust me, you don’t wanna get into it with a cranky mice. Are you a fry into your shake dipper? – No. – Me neither. It’s, you know, I think because I eat my fries at the first half of my meal, before they get cold. I don’t really get this. I don’t get the make the fry cold thing. – I don’t think it’s about making the fry cold, I think it’s about a combination of the hot french fry, salty, with the sweet, so, I mean… But even though I do get it, I don’t do it. This Frosty’s been frosted a little bit. You need to kind of dip it. Now this is a first for me, this is the classic combination. I think this is the standard set, right? Or the standard has been set, or will be set? – I mean, who here is a fry dipper? Ben, you’re a fry in your milkshake dipper. – [Stevie] I think it’s ruining a good fry. – Stevie’s against it. But, I know you don’t care, what’s the thing for you? And has it always been the thing? – [Ben] It’s really a late night thing, like I won’t, if I get a meal at McDonald’s, I won’t get this, but if it’s a midnight snack… – Oh, so you’ll just get a Frosty, you’re getting a Frosty and fries. – It’s a treat combo. – [Stevie] If you got a burger or nuggets, fries, and a milkshake… See? Yeah, that doesn’t make sense. – [Man] I would do that, it’s… for the exact reason that the guy said, it’s a sweet and salty and hot and cold all together, it’s very mashable. – Well, first of all, I immediately like this combination better. – Well, me, too. Because it’s vanilla, yeah. I don’t think it works with chocolate. Do you do it with chocolate? – [Ben] No, I do the McDonald’s version. – [Rhett] Oh, you do the McDonald’s version. – [Link] This is Ben’s choice right here. – Well, this is way better than Wendy’s and the Frosty version. – And I also think something about the Wendy’s fries being so rustic and having the skin on ’em and being a little brown, it just… It doesn’t invite a dip. – You know what this is like? You know, in Amsterdam, you’ve been to Amsterdam, and they enjoy their french fries with mayonnaise. You also might know that from Pulp Fiction, but, having been there, it’s not just something Quentin Tarantino made up, it’s actually true. And this is like taking- – But he will make some stuff up. – This is taking a french fry and dipping it into, I know that mayonnaise is made from eggs, it’s not a dairy product, but it has this creaminess, and it’s doing the same thing for me. And it doesn’t compete, ’cause it’s not chocolate. – [Stevie] Is there whipped cream on top of that? Or is that just melted milkshake? I can’t tell. – Melted milkshake. Is it? – [Stevie] That’s what I was gonna say, I think the whipped cream might- – Your head’s going this way. What? Yes, there is whipped cream. Yes. – The In-N-Out. – [Man] Well no, I was shaking my head no because she said there’s no whipped cream, so I was saying no to that. – But you were going like this. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. – Hm, this is interesting. In-N-Out. – [Man] I’ve just been told that those are chocolate milkshakes from McDonald’s, and not vanilla. – What? – [Woman] It should be chocolate. – The syrup machine got broken. ‘Cause they gave us vanilla. – [Man] When I got them, they looked very vanilla to me, and I looked, and there’s definitely chocolate syrup on the bottom. I don’t know how… – You know what? There is. It’s just so subtle. The person who does these is a subtle shake-maker. – They just take vanilla ice cream, and then add syrup? They don’t have a chocolate? I think that is how they make their… – [Stevie] I do believe that’s how it works across the board. – Would you be a subtle shake-maker? If you worked at McDonald’s? – There is a vanilla Frosty, but the Frosty comes out chocolate, they don’t add syrup to it. – I think I’d be a subtle shake-maker. I see it as an art. You don’t wanna overpower anybody. – Now the In-N-Out fries, you gotta eat those really fresh. – I think In-N-Out fries get better when you dip them into the milkshake. – [Link] Oh, that’s a crunchy one. – That’s a good milkshake. – This is a good combo. Even with chocolate. – Very solid, isn’t it? What? – That’s a good second place. Now, Five Guys… So why did we go with chocolate? – I think the Frosty, again, is what I think of as for fry dipping, so maybe, I mean, is that right? Is that why y’all did chocolate? – [Woman] Yeah, also, just for a lot of places, they only have vanilla or chocolate, or vanilla chocolate strawberry, it’s just a pretty standard flavor across the board, so. It’s easy. – These Five Guys fries are just so good. – [Rhett] Next level. – But like Wendy’s, they have the skin on ’em, and it just makes me not wanna dip it as much, I don’t know. – The Five Guys fries hold up, in a way that the other fries don’t. – They really do. – But they’re still good. – You got the longest window of time to enjoy a Five Guys fry. I love that. Their chocolate shake… Very good, too. – We spend a lot of time talking about fast food on this show, but we don’t have any ability to make it, we just can eat it. But you can enjoy Mythical Kitchen’s latest batch of Fancy Fast Food where they blow the budget on wagyu, and make fancy versions of things like Doritos Locos Tacos. You can check out the podcast, Hot Dog is a Sandwich, wherever you enjoy your podcasts, and Mythical Kitchen is just overflowing with culinary offerings that you need to be enjoying. – [Stevie] Are you milkshake orderers? – I have to be in a real mood to get a milkshake. – Yeah, I try not to eat fast food that often. And then, when I go as a treat, I’m going really hard if I come away with a milkshake, too. So, no, I very rarely order dessert, because… – You feel like you’re already being a bad boy? – I feel like I’m already being a bad boy. – And if you don’t wanna be a double bad boy by getting fast food and a milkshake, yeah, that’s how I am. Now, I will say- – Five Guys is awesome. – There are some times, and of course, you’ve been doing a lot of Postmates, take-out situation during the last year, and what we’ll do in my house a lot of the times is we’ll have eaten, and then me and Locke and Shepherd, it’ll be like 10:30 on a Friday night. – Uh-oh! – And we can kinda look at each other, and we know exactly what we’re thinking. And at that point, it could be, “Let’s Postmate some milkshakes.” And sometimes we’ll- – See, but Ben’s got a good idea when it’s like, “Let’s Postmate some fries and milkshakes.” – Yeah, we haven’t done that. – But Postmating fries is challenging. You really need to be there. Gotta go to it, but if you’re gonna get in the car and go to it, that’s a good mission right there. Just a fry and shake run, that’s fun, man. – It’s a fun run, you know, the ol’ fun run. – It’s good, clean fun. – I think I’ve told this story before, but, you know, I’m getting old, so I’ll tell it again. I’m reminded by that couple, who I first thought was in a sauna, but it turns out they were at a McDonald’s. In the wheel video, he was eating Big Macs for the first time. – They weren’t that sweaty. – So Shepherd had this friend, and we started realizing this when we moved to California, that coming from North Carolina, every kid had had everything that you could possibly have, every kind of fast food, and then we got to California and we’re like “Oh, there’s these kids,” in these families that we’re meeting, and the kids have never had fast food. It’s just a much more conscious environment, people are just thinking about not only the nutritional but the ethical issues around everything, and so, you just meet all these kids who’ve never eaten a McDonald’s hamburger. Well, we’re taking this new friend to In-N-Out, and… So, Jessie’s like “Well what do you want?” and he’s like “I don’t know, I’ve never been here before.” I was like “Oh, you’ve never been to In-N-Out?” And he’s like “No.” I was like “Okay, do you wanna get a burger?” And he’s like “Well, I’ve never had a burger before.” And she was like “You’ve never had a burger before? Or you’ve never had meat before?” And he’s like “I’ve never had meat before. But I’ll try a burger.” And then Jessie was like “Hold on, I gotta call your mom.” And of course, this is an In-N-Out line, so you’ve got 30 minutes to make phone calls. – Right. – She calls up the mom and says, “We’re in line at In-N-Out, and we were just told by your son that he’s never had meat before, but he’s saying he wants a burger.” And she was like “Oh, yeah, that’s fine.” And then Jessie was like “I’m not getting you a burger.” She got him a grilled cheese, because she was like “I’m not gonna be the adult that brings meat into your life for the first time. We’ve met you three months ago, you know?” So… – You know, she might be more apt to just kick him out of the car and say “You know what, kid? You’re on your own.” That would be a less emphatic move than feeding a vegetarian kid meat for the first time. – Well, she didn’t do that, she just got him a grilled cheese. – Good compromise. – Enjoy those Big Macs. Many many good years of marriage and Big Macs to come. – Did you know that two out of the five guys from Five Guys are vegetarian? – Yeah. – They only eat the peanuts. – Right. Yeah. – They don’t eat the fries, because of the meat oil. – The meat oil, yeah. The meat oil that it’s fried up in. – Did you know that Wendy… – Is dead. – Was a trapeze artist. She rebelled against Mr Dave, Mr Thomas, and she ran away to the circus. That’s where the saying comes from, when it’s like, you run away and join the circus, that’s ’cause Wendy, of Wendy’s, actually did that. She was really good at the trapeze, and that’s why, in kids’ meals from 1989 to 2001, always featured some sort of circus thing in their kids’ meal. ‘Cause she came back, and she’s on the sign. – The prodigal daughter came back and it’s like “Okay, well.” – They first put her on the sign as a way to help find her. “Have you seen this girl?” – And they only served milk for those first years. – No, that’s not true. – No, yeah, when Wendy’s started, they put her on the sign and it was just a milk place. – Before the circus? Before she ran away. – No, during the circus years, it was also the milk years of Wendy’s. But they did milk in a lot of different ways. Hard milk, soft milk. – And then she came back and brought back the meat. – She came back, she said “Can we stop with the milk?” And that’s why, technically, a Frosty is not a milkshake, there’s no milk in a Frosty. It’s like gelato. (snickers) It’s dairy-free. So if you’re lactose-intolerant, you can have a Frosty. Asterisk, I’m lying. (laughs) – What do we think is the best? ‘Cause I think the McDonald’s and the vanilla- – Well, what’s the best is, if somebody accidentally makes you a vanilla shake, with a little bit of chocolate, ’cause they’re a subtle shake-maker at McDonald’s, that’s the combination. – I like Five Guys second best. And then I’m… – In-N-Out, and actually, for me, Wendy’s is last. – Yeah. Yeah. – Sorry, Wendy. She’s not dead, is she? I said that. I think that… Dave is dead. Wendy’s not dead. – Wendy is alive. – And then bash ’em up. I would say palm heel strike directly into a hot pan. You guys think I can do it? Why? Why are you afraid of success?
