Welcome to Good Mythical More. We’re gonna learn some slight of hand tricks from Robert the Mythical Magician. But first, we’re gonna play Ready, Pet, Go! Oh yeah. Where we look at one of your pets, we try to guess its name. This one is from NTHE. Ferret eating some queso. Well, wanting to eat some queso. Uh. Oh, there’s somebody, okay, around there might be some context clues. I think this might be Harry. This might be little Munchkin. Marvin. Marvin. Delilah. I was thinking Herman, for some reason. So it was like, a Harry, Marvin combination. Herman, Harry, Marvin. Yeah, we were in the same area. But not Delilah. Yeah. Submit your pet with #GMMReadyPetGo on the Tweeter, and maybe we’ll find them, and maybe we’ll try to name them. Come on in, Robert. Teach us something else. Yes. We’ve learned so much today already. And I kinda feel like I still got a little bit of string in the back of my throat. I don’t know, where there two strings? ‘Cause maybe it’s just the tightness of my. Come on in here. Come on a little bit closer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, this is perfect. There we go. All right, guys, I’m gonna show you some easy magic tricks to just kind of, slight of hand, that’s what we’re working on. Easy, yeah, yeah. Dexterity, that’s the key. So we have to warm up our fingers really quickly. Warm our fingers. So you’re gonna put your hands out like this, and you’re gonna do one finger slowly all the way through. Perfect, and then you’re gonna open up the same direction. And when you go kind of fast. Whoa! It kind of moves like that. So just, it’s focus, it’s mental focus. I don’t have, I don’t have these fine motor skills. These motor skills? They’ll come, they come with practice. They come with practice. Perfect, we’re almost warmed up. We’re almost warmed up. You gonna put your hands together like this. You’re gonna move your pinkies like this, switch and switch places. Switch, switch, switch. And then you put them back. So you do it twice. And then you do the ring finger. Link, you’re good at, And then the middle finger. Mine takes my other finger when I do it. Okay, here we go. My hands got some oatmeal on them still. I can smell that, I can smell that. It’s pretty distinct. So that’s to warm up the fingers. That’s to practice the dexterity that you would need. Absolutely, that is absolutely. For doing that. Yes, for doing that. All right. The first thing we’re gonna do, we’re gonna build in difficulty of learning the slight of hands. We’ll do my favorite. We’ll do a very easy one. I have a coin for each of you. That’s a silver dollar. This is a silver dollar. Most magicians use silver dollars ’cause they’re larger and easier to see, rather than a quarter. It’s just a little bit small. On camera it’s gonna look much bigger. Okay. Who is that Kennedy on there? That is, it is Kennedy. Kennedy on mine. Okay. It should be on all of them because they’re the same coin. It was the head of Kennedy. But mine’s 1992. I don’t think there, I guess there’s always just a head half dollar on all of them. All right, all right, all right, all right, here we go. So the first thing we’re gonna do. There’s two different ways of vanishing a coin. You know, that’s where he was shot. Mm, Mm. Too soon, too soon. Mm. Too soon. You got a good Titanic joke? Boy, that was long. Is that a joke? There’s an Eagle on the other side. That’s true. Don’t shoot an Eagle. No. That’s illegal. Or a Kennedy. All right, here we go, ladies and gentleman. I’m gonna show you. All right, he started it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He started it, he started it. He really did, he really did. All right, I’m trying to show you how to do sleight of hand. Oh, oh. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We’re just doing Kennedy and eagle facts at this point. Yeah. Okay, it’s very simple, very simple. There’s two ways to take a coin, or two ways to vanish a coin. There’s a take and there’s a give. We’re gonna, that’s one way. That’s one way to do it. We’re gonna do the take, we’re gonna do the take first. So the take is I’m going to pick up the coin off of my hand. So just do that much. You guys are naturals at this, naturals at this. So we go here, and you take the coin. We’re natural at picking up the coin. Yes, yes, so now… I keep missing it. It’s very, don’t close your eyes, right? That’s the key. You have to, like batting, you want to look. You have to watch it. Are you closing your eyes? No, I think I just blink. I also open my mouth. That’s true, people might think that’s where it’s vanishing, in the mouth. So you don’t, you want to keep your mouth closed as you do it. All right, so you now know how, what it looks like without the slight of hand. ‘Cause the key is you want to know what it looks like without the slight of hand. Right. All right, here we go. You’re gonna do the exact same thing, except you’re not gonna take the coin this time. So it looks like this. If you wanna look in the monitor, this is gonna, this is a bad angle tell you the truth. It should look like you’ve taken the coin and then it vanishes. And it just stays there, it doesn’t move. Oh, so you want to relax? This is step two, this is step two. This is how to do the actual slight of hand is you’re gonna, You want to relax. You want to relax. You want to you want to relax after you pretend to take the coin, this hand just kind of naturally relaxes itself, to hide the coin. Kind of exactly like Rhett, that’s perfect. I’m good at relaxing. You’re very good at relaxing. So the thing you just have to practice, I’m not. If you’ve ever practice at home is you want to grab the coin, so you know what it feels like to grab the coin. Now that’s key. Whenever I teach this, it’s all about naturalism. It’s knowing what it feels like to pick up the coin. And when you don’t pick up the coin, they look, they should look exactly the same. It should be this game of did I pick up the coin or not. You know like, still here. Well, you can make it appear somewhere. You could go here and then, you know, make it come from the shirt, is one way of doing it. There’s many ways to make this appear. You can do it from the nose. So you make this appear and go, and there’s a coin from your nose. Holy moly. Okay, so I’m coming, so I’ve got it right here, you can see it, I’m coming in and taking it, then I’m like, Yeah, you sneeze it out, sneeze it. You blew too hard. Yeah, you don’t want to get your, your blow juice on the coin there. Blow juice. Perfect, so that’s the, that’s the take. That’s the take. We’ll do the give very quickly, which is relatively the same. It’s the opposite, opposite of giving or opposite of taking it. Instead of taking the coin off the hand, we’re gonna put it into this hand like that. And grasp. And grab the coin, perfect. Again, that’s what it looks like when you’re actually doing it. So you take the coin, you put it in the hand and it’s there. So now we’re gonna do the slight of hand with that. That’s in three quick steps. So first the coin goes here. Mm hmm. Then your fingers are gonna cover the coin and pull the coin into your fist. Okay. So you’re gonna actually like pull the coin into your hand. Yep, so it goes here, your fingers go over and grab the coin as such. So now that you kind of have the technique of it, you’re gonna do it on the second step. So this is step one. Step two is covering, and you’re gonna also start to close your hand. Step three is closing the hand totally and removing the hand that has the, Don’t do that. Yeah, don’t don’t show the coin. That would be very weird. So slowly, if I do it slowly, you can see the coin there. It looks like the coin goes into that hand. This is called the retention vanish because you have the retention of the coin of the shine of it in there. So as you put the coin in there, You got to be thinking about lighting? You got to think, no, not really. The lighting is natural. The coin is shiny itself. But once you get up to speed, the second the fingers cover, that’s when you pull that coin into your fist. So you can’t actually see it happen. So it goes here and it’s in the fist and it looks like it’s there. And this hand again is relaxed. So it’s just practicing those three things. Here, covering, what is? I’m relaxed, man. Oh you’re… That’s good. I’ve never, I’ve never tried the, how did you do, how are you doing that? Yep. And it’s gone, so that works as well. Is it convincing? Are we convincing you? Here’s a, here’s a, it’s not a quarter, it’s a silver dollar, it’s got Kennedy on it. He’s dead. You got to say something like that, right? Yeah, throw a history lesson in there. Yeah, always historical facts, always historical facts. I’m gonna place it in this hand, or did I? Oh, not bad! That’s pretty good, pretty good at that. Did that seem convincing? Here’s a coin. You’re getting gentle nods. I’m gonna hold it in this hand. You got to give an eagle fact. Don’t shoot an Eagle. Perfect, so now you got, that’s the coin work. That’s the coin work, that’s give and take, Two different ways to vanish a coin. We’ll step it up a little bit harder. Okay. A little bit harder, I’ve got… You can have that back. Thank you, is that a tip for me? Yep, two dollars. I just don’t want an expectation that I’m gonna practice. All right, perfect. So you have decks of cards here. You’re gonna take out the deck, like that. Fresh deck. Fresh deck, I just opened it for you. I didn’t take the deck out. You can smell it. Yes I did. Perfect, all right. Mm. We’re gonna do what’s called a Charlier. Remove the jokers? Remove the jokers, you don’t need the jokers. It’s serious magic. Standard, thank you. That’s the kind of laughs it gets when you play it in front of real people. Okay. You’re gonna do what’s called, you’re gonna do what’s called a Charlier cut. Do I need to shuffle? You don’t need to shuffle. Charlier cut. My favorite part, guys, my favorite part is you hand them something and they just, they’re gone. They’re gone. They’re doing, doesn’t matter what I was talking about, they’re just, they’ve got something in their hand. Yeah, you got to, you got to shuffle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shuffles. Okay, you don’t have to shuffle, you don’t shuffle. Okay, this is a Charlier, this is the Charlier cut. It’s a one handed cut, that’s all it is. Oh, good luck. No, no, no, you got this, you got it. We’ll just do it step by step. The Charlier, it’s a one handed cut. So you want to put your pinky, the key is the pinky, the pinky on the edge. It’s called straddle grip. There’s so many names for everything. You’re learning so much today. Straddle grip. You can hold the whole deck in between those two fingers and you guys have much bigger hands than I do. So it’s probably not as strenuous on my fingers as it is on yours. You don’t have to squeeze it that hard. Your hand’s turning purple there. I feel like I have to squeeze it that hard. All right, so you’re gonna go here. The higher in the fingers you can do it, the better. The higher in the fingers is better. Fingertips, huh? Fingertips, almost fingertips. And your thumb is gonna come over and just gently, Push up. It’s like I’ve never done this, gently push up, yes. Then what’s gonna happen, is your index finger, your index finger, this one, your pointer is gonna go underneath those cards. So the angle there looks like that. Perfect. Yes, yes. So the pinky is key, ’cause it’s gonna keep that deck from falling this way. Ah. You see? ‘Cause I can turn my hand this way and the pinky is actually keeping it there. Ah. Your index finger’s the thing that’s gonna push that up. Oh wow, that’s, that’s next level there. So you’re gonna, there you go, now your index finger is gonna keep that up. Yep, yep, and your thumb’s, just gonna kind of get out of the way. You can see that the cards are kind of balanced on each other. I didn’t, I didn’t get that part. That’s okay, that’s okay. That’s the same difficulty, we raised the difficulty. Mine are just turning like that, and now they’re facing each other, not good. Yeah, no that’s okay. That’s, see that’s the first time though. You can’t get it right the first time every time. So it’s, the pinky is up here. The key is pinky. The pinky is the thing that’s making sure that the pot pack doesn’t fall. Yep. And then I’m putting the thumb there. You don’t have to just dig your thumb in, all you have to do is just lift up. ‘Cause if you lift up the top portion of the cards, Yep. You’ll see that they naturally kind of will fall into your hand, if you loosen. Ah. Yeah, like that. Now your index finger, oh Link, you’ve got this. Yes, yes, yes, yes, no, no, no, yes. Maybe, maybe. Yes. Yeah, what happens after this point? So your index finger is just gonna push. Push. And your thumb is gonna kind of get out of the way. Yep. Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s gonna fall underneath it. Yeah, yeah. It’s gonna fall underneath it. It’s gonna, how do they come back? How do they come back? How do those cards come back? I don’t know. That’s okay, that’s okay. It’s practice. You see, we did it in difficulty. We’ll do the hardest one now. Okay, good, good If you thought that was the hardest one, You only need one card. Oh, you’re gonna try it again. Link should try this again. How do I start? Yeah, yeah, no, no, no, the other way, long ways. So it’s the same distance there. Yes. Yes, we need, we need. Do we have that sound from Link’s dad? Perfect, and just a relaxed hand. The key is having enough pressure on both sides to hold everything, but relax enough that it just kind of falls down. So lift with your thumb. Lift with my thumb. I’ll do like, like when gymnasts, like the coach always holds them. I’ll make sure everything, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, so let that, yeah, let that fall. Let that fall, move the index finger. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. And then the index finger moves. That’s okay, leave it there. Remember the Ace, remember the Ace. Push in this corner with the index finger. So it goes there. Yep, yep, push with the index finger. Yep, yep. [Link’s Dad Over Sound System] Yes. There is it. There it is. There you go. Baby’s first Charlier cut. I did it, Dad. I’m doing something different. That’s okay, that’s okay, okay. I think he went away, huh? For the last one you just need… [Link’s Dad Over Sound System] I miss you Rhett. you just need, you just need one card. It doesn’t matter what the card is. Okay. I’m so, I’m sweating. It’s hard. A lot of concentration. A lot of concentration. Over time you get used to it of all the dexterity. It doesn’t matter what card, one card, one card. All right, one card. This is called the back palm, the back palm. Back palm. The back palm. I’m gonna kind of turn a little bit. So this is what it looks like. What about this, what I’m doing right now? Whoa. And then it appears. So you’re vanishing a card. Whoa. Oh, whoa, And then making it appear. So that’s what we’re gonna, that’s what we’re gonna learn. Back palm. Back palm. Okay. Back palm, it’s very simple. Quick reminder, before you get into it. Yes, please. We got a coloring book. You know about this? Yes! Mythical coloring book. It’s for adults of all ages, children of all ages. You can put a card in it, you can take it out. You can color this thing, you can just de-stress with it. Get it at mythical.com. After all the practicing you want to de-stress. That’s right. You know, if you keep this up, you might make it into the second edition. Yes. Mythical.com, get the coloring book. Please do. And then post your, post your final products. We enjoy seeing those. Great, that’s my favorite. All right, back palm, so, very simple, very simple. Card goes in between your thumb and your middle and your ring finger, like you’re doing like that yeah, rock out, like rock out. Okay. That’s the best way to. Rock out, straight out this way. Sure, just for learning purposes. You’re going to, with your thumb, tilt it back. So the card is running along the flat part of your knuckle on the backside. Yeah. And then you’re gonna use your index finger and your pinky finger, and you’re gonna grab just the two corners right here. Yeah, and you could bend the card. That’s all right. Yep, yep, yep, squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. Oh, and then you’re gonna extend it. And then you’re just gonna extend your fingers and it’ll stay up. So you got to keep it tight. Yup, so you can squeeze, don’t worry about bending. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s okay if you really. So I’m squeezing like this, and I’m putting those there, and putting that down. Yep, your thumb pushes the card back a little bit, your fingers grab and you’re there. Now to make the card appear, you want to just reverse it. So you’re gonna squeeze the hand, put your thumb on the card and your fingers will slide out. I guess that was the, I thought that was gonna be so much harder. They’re so much better at that. That’s good, that’s good. Than a whole deck of cards. That’s good. So then the way you do it, you wouldn’t do it like that, because that’s kind of weird. You would go sideways. You would go sideways and the kind of action of moving it, helps hide the fact, if you’re, if the card is sticking between the fingers, the slight motion of it helps that, right there. That’s okay, that’s why we got… Just grab another card. 104 cards there. [Link’s Dad Over Sound System] I’m watching you. Yep, well, or is there a finger not on one of those? Oh, ah! It almost happened. It almost happened. You can also do like, so you could vanish the card and then you could reach behind someone and then pull the card there. There’s many different ways of doing that. That’s a risk, that’s a risky move. If you’re just out there with, you know, with Johnny, Johnny’s watching. And Johnny’s trying to get over that barrier and Oh man. I can see the card. Right. That’s what little Johnny would say. Uh huh. I’ve heard it before. The advanced, I almost had this one. We’re not gonna learn it, we’re not gonna learn it. The advanced one is after you vanish the card, you’re able to turn your hand over to show both sides. Whoa, whoa, whoa, do that again. But we can’t, we can’t, we don’t have time for that. We don’t have time for that. Whoa, oh my gosh. That’s the, that’s the works. How many, I mean how many hours… Too many. Does it take? Too many. To get where you can do that? Too many. I can’t, I, daily. I just sit there in front of the TV. Your fingers get longer over time or, or meatier or something with all of that? No, they get numb. That’s what makes it easier. Okay. Oh, not being able to feel what you’re doing? Yeah, you just can’t feel it, it’s fine. Let me see those hands. Look at that. That’s a weird request. Yeah. And now you guys know how to do slight of hand, guys. You now know slight of hand. Oh hey, that was pretty, that was pretty fast. I couldn’t have looked at your hands and known that you’ve been working them out like that. Again, follow Robert at Robert Ram magic. RobRammagic.com. Robert, Robert is not part of it. No, but it’s Rob Ram. The first three letters of my first name and last name. RobRammagic.com. Thanks man. Of course. I will almost practice. I lost some of these cards, so this is not a reliable deck any more. It’s okay, it’s okay. If you put it right there, you can’t see it. I’ll take this as a souvenir. Color, your little heart out with the mythical coloring book available now at mythical.com.
