GMMore 2416: Which House Would You Choose?

Welcome to “Good Mythical MORE”. We are gonna use a TikTok trend to evaluate how well we really know each other. These TikToks are floating around if you know somebody, you’re supposed to like, pick of out of three different things, like which house would they want which kitchen would they want? And then you send it to your friend and say, “Was all right?” Right. We’re gonna do that. We’re gonna do that. But first, secret handshake. Ugh. Gross. Gross. Where’s the wetness coming from? My hands. Your hands, dude? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I need too? wiping off the wetness. Ugh. That was a good one. That was a good one. Yeah, that was a great one. That was a great one. Listen to me. You gotta know the person well. I just want do… Are you comfortable? Do you need a comforting fact already? Because I have some- Yeah. Right here already. Yeah, my cupping session seems to be wearing off. Nothing lasts forever. So whatever’s bothering you at the moment will eventually end. Okay. What’s bothering you at the moment? Like no one. Don’t say none one. Don’t. No one. I said, what’s bothering you? No one. Okay. So we got My Choice and Rhett’s Choice. What you got? I got My Choice and Link Neal’s Choice. Okay. Is that how you prefer it? Yeah. I like mys’s choice. You remember being in church and you didn’t know whether it was Jesus’s or Jesus when it was possessive? When Jesus was possessed. That never happened. No. Like, look at Jesus’s sandals. Is it Jesus’ sandals or Jesus’s sandals? ‘Cause every Sunday school teacher would take make a choice. It’s sus’s. It’s sus’s. Yeah. I don’t know. But you don’t add, you don’t… You just put the apostrophe. But you say, “sus’s.” Did you look at me through that little mirror that we have? I still. Hey. To ask me about Jesus’s. I keep forgetting- I’m still not. About that, Stevie. I’m still not gonna use that mirror. It’s like a mirror from a school bus. The funny thing is- Stevie there, we can’t see her. You’re smaller- There’s a mirror there. In the mirror. Yeah. Stevie in mirror is smaller than Stevie appears. It also, it’s not a fish eye. What’s the opposite? Convex. Giraffe foot. Yeah. Yeah. It doesn’t help. I can barely see you. It doesn’t. You’re not well lit. I also don’t have my glasses on. I can’t- So like the… I can’t do it. Yeah. Anyways, Jesus’s. I can’t do it. You know what? I’m glad it’s there though. I can’t do it. Okay. We’re gonna start at the most basic ask here with home exteriors. So here are your choices. So you’re picking one for you privately and one for the other guy. Okay. So how would you describe these? A is like a… That’s like a Bel Air mansion. It’s like- Calabasas mansion. Spanish inspired- Spanish inspired- Mansion. B is- North Carolina rich person that you went to high school with. Yep. C is a Lake House- Lake House. With a nice- Lake porch. Yeah, it’s a little bit cottagey but D is straight cottage like we’re talking, what’s that, the CutsWall? You know, very CutsWalled seat. All right. I feel confident in getting your choice correct. I feel confident in getting your choice correct. But I actually don’t know my own choice. Are you confident in your own choice? If we’re only confident in the other persons that’s kind of hollow. I don’t know what I wanna share. But it’s how well do we know them? No, I feel like one of these is very much your choice but I feel like my choice is not on the board. I’m having a compromise. Okay. Okay. I don’t actually know how much you… How well you know the way I feel about exteriors? My wife would immediately know which one I was picking because we talk about exteriors all the time. I don’t know how often me and you talk about exteriors. Well then that, that’s kind of throwing me off. But aren’t you just gonna choose whatever Jessie tells you to? Well, yeah. Right. Yeah. So then my answer is right. But this is my house that I have on the side. Oh, this is the divorce day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is after I get divorced. All right, well, I’m gonna change my answer then, and I’m gonna do that. And it’s a strong choice for me. Like, I look at that and I’m like very strongly drawn to one. Okay. All right. I’m changing my answer and I’m giving myself the answer I gave for you now that you’re not using it. So what did you say? All day, every day would be D. I love a cottage like that. I love stone exterior. And you’re C, you love lake houses. See, I got it. I got it wrong. I said that you were C but that Jessie is A- Right. And Jessie wins, right? That’s not even how the game works. Rhett’s choice is Jessie’s choice. No, but what- That’s how life works. But your choice is- For Rhett, For Rhett. What is your choice? No, your choice? My choice is now A. What would you choose? But you- Which one do you like the most? A not because it’s Spanish, but because it’s still modern and there’s a lot of light. And that’s an expensive place, man. I mean, how can I turn that down? Yeah, that’s true, ’cause you could- You could sell that. And C is great on a lake, but it’s just not, I just didn’t know you would choose D at all because like there’s not enough light coming into that house, man. It’s like you’re gonna be living in a dungeon. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we’re not talking about the inside. We’re talking about the outside. It kind of impacts that. No, you don’t know what the back of the house looks like? It could just be one big pane of glass. Well, that’s a good point. That’s how I would do my cottage. I love quaint, you know those little stories. We are in wrong houses around the town. I love them. And I’m a huge Victorian. The more like spindly that a house can get, you know? I knew that. Is that Jessie’s choice too? No. No. She’s A. No, no. She’s Spanish style. I don’t think she would have- Well, that’s what your house is. I don’t think she would like A, and ’cause she would have some reason why she didn’t like it. I don’t know what it would be but- But the swimming pool’s in the front yard. I don’t think that she… This is the backyard and I don’t think that she would like it. It’s the backyard? But she would know immediately that I would pick D and no, she doesn’t like Victorian and she’s all about, yeah, she is all about light and getting things light in there, so. Christy and I are on the same page. We really like ultra-modern design for the outside of a house. And then for the inside. Well, I’ll just say that ’cause we may have an inside, so. Yeah, we’re moving inside now. I really like the ultra-modern clean, nude. Don’t think about what my wife would want or what your wife would want. Think about what you would want and what I would want. I just want her to be happy. That’s what makes me happy. That’s actually- That’s not a big game. Surprising to me about your choice, Link. I would not have, I think I would’ve picked that for… I would’ve picked Rhett’s choice for Rhett but I would not have said, Link, is a ultra-modern boy. Really? Yeah. I like what’s the mid-century modern, you know? Okay. That’s different then… That’s different. Yeah. But it still has some of the like it has a cleanliness to it. Yeah. All right. So that over contemporary modern or do you like contemporary modern? I like that too. Yeah, like, concrete- You know, when you go- Exposed. Into somebody’s house- Like woods and beams- And like- But also like girders. Girders. You go into somebody’s house and there’s a hallway. Mm. Yeah. And they’ve got like pictures- Well, that’s a good hallway. From like floor to ceiling and very little space creeping through. You can’t even see the wall anymore. I like that. And my wife hates it because she’s actually a gifted interior designer and she knows that that’s not actually what people like, it’s just what I like. Floor to ceiling frames in a hallway? Just like every time I see one of those movies where there’s like some old… First of all, I like all wood on the inside dark. Seems like there might be demons there. Like more of a craftsman, maybe? No, like a wizard’s house. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So kind of like, David, then with like a lot of pictures on the wall. That movie that Guillermo del Toro did that I didn’t see that was about, they built the house for it. Oh. And we talked about it. Yeah. What was the name of that movie, Zach? Crimson. Yeah, Crimson Peak. Crimson Peak. The Haunting of Hill House in the Netflix show. Crimson Peak. That house, that’s the house that I wanna live. Tell me in the mirror. I’m not… Crimson Peak. I can’t do it. Okay. I can’t do it. It’s so weird. Love it. I wanna build a house like that. Oh, but it’s crazy. You can’t get people to do it ’cause nobody builds houses like that except for… Okay, we’re going inside. We’ve only gotten through one. We’re going to the kitchen now. Oh. I do find these very limiting these options, it really, you have- Yeah. To really pick. C and D are pretty close. Like what’s, I mean, it has like butcher block, cabinet tops on D, I don’t see that… Well, yeah, the stoves are definitely different. You got like a gas range in C. I mean, they’re even bringing that kind of similar tone into A. A is like island. Now, before you choose- Well, country, country house. Before you, you choose this, let’s not choose based on, like, amenities. Because obviously like B’s got a double fridge. It’s a much better, like that’s a chef’s kitchen. Like if I’m choosing one to cook in, I’m choosing B or C. But let’s just go style, like, assume you could make it whatever you want it to but just like, I’m talking like colors, fixtures, cabinets, surfaces. Okay. Man. . This is tough. This is tough. Yeah, they’re so similar. Come on now. Just decide. Okay. A little bit of a curve ball maybe here. All right. I ended up choosing B just because it’s, you know, it’s clean, it’s very close to what my kitchen is now. It lacks character, I will say that. Yeah. So I almost didn’t choose it. Yeah. I actually didn’t think ’cause I… What cover up what? I thought that you would choose either B or C. But then I thought- I almost chose C. I thought you would think better of yourself. Yeah. And be like, I gotta add- I should have. A little bit of color. A little bit of warmth- And a- A is definitely not, definitely not. No. I like wood, but I just don’t like the way they’ve done that with the wood in A, so I would choose C, definitely. Okay. Which is what I thought you would choose. And I think we should have chosen C too. Let’s see another one. Bedroom. Oh, here we go. Oh, okay. So B has an upstairs nook. There’s a little, who sleeps over there? The cat. Oh my goodness. Look at D. That is quite a view. Floor to ceiling, walled glass, patio doors. Then C is this, I don’t know that that picture might creep you out at night. Those eyes follow you everywhere. All over the room. Okay. I’m feeling pretty good about this for me. And then I think, hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Okay. So I guess I’m going with me again. I chose D which- Interesting. I thought you would say. That’s like a vacation house. I thought you would say A because of D. I definitely like A. The modernness. This mid-century modernness of the furniture. But look at the view. Good, gosh. Well, yeah, that’s why- Good bedroom. That’s why I chose D ’cause of that view. See the back. I thought you were gonna choose A, we were both opposite. The back of my cottage is that’s what it looks like. You come up on the front and you’re like, “Oh, it’s so quaint.” And then by the time you get to the back bedroom, you’re like, “Wow, we’re in Utah.” Okay. All right, let’s move to the living room. We’re starting to choose the same stuff actually living room, okay? A is whiteness. B is lodge vibes with a big couch. C is generic. What’s that purple pillow doing on the floor? It’s in case you fall. I mean, there’s just a pillow on the floor. And then D is… AC and D all scream, like, home makeover HGTV Bland. I wouldn’t call it D bland. That’s a pretty bold choice for the wall color. Yeah, it’s not bland. You’re right. Mm. Let’s see, okay. But the thing about- You just gotta, You got to choose what you choose, man. You gotta go for it. I know, but I’m thinking about context here. ‘Cause B is obviously like a ski vacation home. Yeah. And kind of only makes sense in that context. Well that’s where it is. Look out the window. Okay, well, I know what you would choose. I think you’re gonna choose. All right, so you tell me what you chose? Well, I haven’t chosen it yet, but I guess I’ll just go with… I’m thinking about what actually my like day-to-day living room? Yeah. Let me see it. And so I went with the D. I went with the D. ‘Cause of the color, you know? Do you like that green? Yeah. You’re gonna be tired of that. I mean, when we first got married Chris and I bought furniture for our living room. We bought a couch, a loveseat, and then like a half a couch and they were all purple like eggplant. Yeah, but that’s- And then our walls were almost the color of that green. It was such a strange- But here’s the thing. Commitment. When your wife wants to change the room every 36 months- Well… You make these kinds of choices. You know what I’m saying? So like, I know my wife’s gonna be like, “Yes, we gotta get rid of this green couch.” We kept those purple- When we get it. She’s gonna love it. We kept the purple couch for like 20 years almost, 15 years. So what did you think I would choose? Oh, I thought you would choose C. Oh no, bro. I don’t know why. I definitely didn’t think you would choose that. I chose B. No, no, no. I chose the lodge. Yeah. And I figured you would, which, you know? Windows to the wall. I love it. It’s great. It’s definitely. You know? It’s definitely the most expensive house of those. And I like a big communal couch space- To stare in the fire. I think someone in this room could use a little comforting. Oh yeah. Oh no. Let me comfort you. What happened? You’re comforting me, I want. Scientists say we still have time to slow the effects of climate change. Mm? Isn’t that comforting? Here, let me try this one. Yeah. But here’s the problem, Link. Half of the country doesn’t believe scientists. Yeah. That one didn’t work. So it’s not very comforting. It’s very unlikely that you ever experience a limnic eruption. A lake overturn. Lake overturning? Yeah. They’re extremely rare. How’s that comforting? It’s highly unlikely if you’ll experience it. Well, what if I had a lake house? It’d be a cool thing to watch. Mm. Okay, you can- I got one more. It’s gonna be great. You wanna pick the last place we go? Bathroom or library? Bathroom is more practical. Let’s go bathroom. Let’s go bathroom. Okay. Okay, in A we’ve got a nice, greenish cabinetry with some brass accents and a green shower. It’s a tub shower. B it’s a self-standing tub… Self-standing. On a black slab. A free-standing tub. It’s standing by itself. And then down here on C we’ve got, Oh, look grandma renovated her house. What is that underneath the thing is that a Tupperware box? You put your feet in that while you’re taking a crap. And is there a security camera under there too? What is that? I hope so. No, that’s the toilet paper rule. But you could put a… You can put a security camera- In low security camera. It’s just, it’s constantly turning. Look at that toilet in D. That is a smart toilet. Mm. That’s a self-standing toilet. It’s actually hanging off the wall. It’s not standing at all. I think I know. I think I know what you would choose. I think I know what I would choose. Okay. I definitely know what I would choose. Okay. I’m changing my answer. Well, why? I’ll tell you why. I feel like there’s like that bathtub in B seems dangerous. Like, it seems like a challenge. Like, why is it on- Yeah, when you get out. Quite slippery as a slide. Because it’s the slipperiest place. Well, I think the whole thing goes up like this when you’re bathing. Oh it’s like a rodeo. It feels like a ride. Okay. That’s not helpful. Yeah. Put the self-standing tub and a… All right. I chose D- As I knew you were. I almost said B because I did like that design. I’m glad I changed the D. The reason why is just that smart toilet, I mean- I knew you would talk about the toilet. That is- That’s why chose it. That is again. I know, he like that toilet. I was like, “He’s gonna like that toilet.” Now I chose B because I like the vibes there and I love that window right next to that bathtub. I like bathing and looking out a window. Definitely. Could you fit in that tub though? You mean, I don’t know. I gotta see myself in it. I thought you were gonna pick B, so we were right. We finally got it right. And if that wasn’t comforting enough, I want to let you know that all of the cardigans… Cardigans. All of the cardigans, Mr. Rogers wore on air were knit by his mother. What? That can’t be true. I hope it’s true. Can’t be true. It’s comforting. What a sweet woman- Be comforted. Smells really good in here. I wish you had television. Wait for them to do the rest, just looking around over there. Yeah. And I feel like- No, they’re not taking this seriously. Seriously.
