GMMore 2559: Surprising Ages Of Popular Characters

I’m glad I have my flannel jacket to cover my arm. That hurt. What if it just took, whoa! Oh, gosh. Look at you both. We’re in trouble. Look at you both. That’s us both. I was disassociating at that point, because we’ve been failing. It’s smart. So much. Welcome to Good Mythical More, wherein we look at characters and, assert what their age is supposed to be. But first. Freeze frame. ((Dramatic Music)) ((Laughing)) That might have been cool. That might have been cool. It might have been cool! Who are we to know? We’ll never know. Let us know if that was cool. That’s the only way we’ll know. – [Stevie] How about we kick things off with a movie I know you’ve actually seen? Okay, cool, cool, cool. – [Stevie] Elf. Elf. Okay, how old? – [Rhett] How old is Elf? – [Stevie] How old is Will Ferrell supposed to be? Buddy. – [Stevie] Elf, Buddy, supposed to be in this movie? Nineteen. Well he grows up, I feel like they say it. I mean. They do. – [Stevie] They say it. There’s a quick line at the top. This is your favorite movie. There’s a quick line where. It’s not even your favorite Christmas movie. Stevie, every time you say something wonderful. – [Stevie] At the top of the movie. Rhett says something not wonderful. It’s your favorite movie. You gotta get this, man. At the top? Like, in the storybook part? – [Stevie] In the, yeah, the narration. I think really he’s supposed to be 21. Like a college graduate. Time to figure out your life, elf. Discover your inner elf. I would not have thought he was that old. I’m gonna say, I’m gonna say 18. – [Stevie] Really? You’re remembering what Will Ferrell looked like? So, yeah, so I think that Will Ferrell was probably I guess that’s true. 32 years old. That’s a good point. When the movie came out. But, yeah, Rhett threw me off, so. But the question is the character. – [Stevie] Yeah, often times, people cast actors that are around the same age or trying to portray a certain age of the character. 29. – [Stevie] Okay. And what did you say, Rhett? I said I thought he was 32 when he played the role, but I’m still going with 21. Is what he was supposed to be? – [Stevie] Okay, he’s supposed to be 30. Oh. – [Stevie] And Will was, we just call him Will because we’re friends, was 35 when they filmed it. 35. Okay, so, so that one’s acceptable. There’s nothing weird about that one other than the fact that he’s an elf. I’m not listening to you anymore because you threw me off. Now I know how to play this game. Listen to your heart, Link. – [Stevie] Tommy DeVito from Goodfellas, played by Joe Pesci. – [Link] Well, first of all, I think that Joe Pesci – Is. – A great rapper. He had a rap album. Joe Pesci had a rap album. Look it up! – [Matt] Are you thinking of Fat Joe. Joe Pesci had a rap album. Fat Joe Pesci. Look it up. We can’t play it here, but we’ll play it as soon as we cut. Great. Was this in the Lethal Weapon days? – [Stevie] When the album was? When he showed his comedic side. Was this a comedy album? No, he was not trying to be funny, but that makes it very funny. I mean, in this photo, he, the actor, looks to be. Thirty-eight. Forty-three. Maybe, yeah, somewhere in, maybe around forty. He’s supposed to be thirty-two, though. No, I think he’s supposed to be thirty-six. – [Stevie] So, he was forty-six during filming. Forty-six? – [Stevie] He’s supposed to be in his twenties. It says that, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta’s characters first meet as teenagers and are supposed to be close in age. Really? – [Stevie] Thomas DeSimone, sorry, whom the character is based on was only 28 when he went missing in 1979. So, he’s supposed to be in his 20s, but he was 46. Joe Pesci and I are the same age in that picture. Do I look older or younger than Joe Pesci? Do I look older or younger than Joe Pesci? You look younger. I mean, he’s in a suit. Oh, you think it’s just the hair? – [Link] I said the suit. I said what he’s wearing. You think it’s just the way he looks? The way he’s dressed? Yeah, I think it’s the way he’s dressed. You think if he had long hair and a tie-dyed, cloud colored shirt from mythical.com, he would look younger? Totally. Okay. Like when you told me that they put, Estelle Getty’s, or, no. Rue McClanahan? Which Golden Girl’s hair on JLo? Blanche. Whoever played Blanche. Blanche. Rue McClanahan. Because Blanche, Blanche at her peak and JLo are the same age now. That’s not really fair. And so they would take Blanche’s hair and put it on JLo. JLo now with anybody else her age now. No, no. No, no. But actually, the fact that JLo looks so much younger than she actually is. The whole point of this comparison is to show you that putting Blanche’s hair on JLo makes her look 60 or whatever Blanche was. Oh, great. That’s the whole point of it. It’s just like, yes, JLo looks great for her age. She’s taking care of herself, whatever. But she’s wearing her hair and dressing in a way that makes her seem younger. Right. Just like you. Yeah, just like me, Link. – [Stevie] I think they call it hair theory on TikTok. Hair theory. – [Stevie] How your hair style dictates the age you’re supposed to play. Rose from Titanic, played by Kate Winslet. – [Rhett] She’s supposed to be 17. – [Link] 16. I think she’s supposed to be 16. – [Stevie] How do you guys know this one? Best movie of all time. I don’t know, it just, it just feels like she’s the daughter of somebody. Was she engaged? – [Stevie] She’s 17. Was she engaged in the movie? – [Stevie] Yeah. She’s supposed to be 17, but she’s actually 28 in this role. No, no, no. She’s probably 24. – [Stevie] She’s 21. She’s 21. Playing a 17-year-old. Okay. Alright. It’s easier that way. – [Stevie] Have you seen Priscilla yet? No. Good? ((Laughing)) I don’t think I’m gonna see it. – [Stevie] It just brings me back to our Graceland days, and. How much you admire Elvis? ((Laughing)) She accidentally did an Elvis impersonation. – [Stevie] Priscilla starts at 15, 14? In the movie Priscilla Oh, right. And that’s a, that’s a little. – [Stevie] Oh, a little. A little questionable. – [Stevie] yeah. I will say, it’s the same actress that plays Priscilla from 14ish all the way through her early twenties. And the actress is, I think 25 and they did, such a great job with hair and makeup to make her look, she looks like she’s 14 at the top of the movie as she’s 25. Oh, anyway. They might’ve done some airbrush to the face. You could do some airbrush. – [Stevie] That and some hair theory and some, and some clothing choices. Okay. Big Bird. Okay. Now I actually, we’ve been exposed to this information on this show. See if you can recall it. I cannot recall it. I think that Big Bird is quite young because he’s supposed to be. A hatchling. No. Not that young. But he’s supposed to be, like, inquisitive. But he doesn’t. Precocious. Not knowledgeable. He doesn’t know anything. He’s definitely supposed to be a teen. No, no, no. I think he’s eight. Eight-years-old. Okay. A human eight-years-old. Not bird eight-years-old. You might be right. I’m gonna go based on the fact that his voice sounds a little bit teen. Teenish. I think he’s fifteen. – [Stevie] Six. Oh, dang! He’s six-years-old, dude. – [Stevie] He revealed his age in 1972 and has been six-years-old ever since. Human six, huh? Not, not Big Bird six. Big Bird is six? Yeah, man. He’s, he’s, he’s innocent. Are they all, are they all that young? Are they all, like, kids? – [Stevie] I should hope so. No, Bert and Ernie have their own apartment. – [Stevie] Oh, that’s true. ((Laughing)) Well, wait a second. Cookie Monster. – [Stevie] How old are Bert and Ernie then? Cookie Monster. Bert and Ernie are. Bachelors. – [Matt] I think the Count is probably pretty old. Yeah. He’s at least twelve. – [Stevie] Oh, Bert and Ernie, according to Sesame Workshop, Bert and Ernie don’t have official ages. ((Laughing)) Unlike the way Elmo is always three and a half. And Big Bird is six. That’s right, they don’t want to say it. They don’t want to say it. Oscar the Grouch is Seems old, man. He’s a grouch. Well, being grouchy makes you seem older than you are. Was he always grouchy? He’s probably 29. I mean, he lives in a trash can. It’s kind of like, somebody who like, works in the sun a lot. They’re gonna age. – [Stevie] It says, I don’t think that there’s an official age, but the guy who plays him says that he, he performs him as a 43-year-old. He performs him as a. You gotta have the age of your character in mind. You got to. Even if you’re Oscar the Grouch. Alright, alright. Alright. Alright. – [Stevie] Do you think if Oscar was wearing a cloud, tie-dyed, Mythical, embroidered. He’d seem 46. – [Stevie] Yeah. Uncle Jesse, from Full House. In the first season. – [Link] The first season. – [Stevie] This isn’t the first season, though. What we’re talking about is the first. He’s supposed to be 27. I think Uncle Jesse’s that cool, young uncle. He might, I think he’s 23. And I think that he was actually 29. John Stamos is currently 23. – [Stevie] He looks good. You were all over it. He’s supposed to be 24 in the first season. We splits it. – [Stevie] And he technically, I guess the character was born April 15th, 1963, and John Stamos was born August 19th, 1963. Oh, so he’s playing his age. He’s playing his age. And you know this isn’t season one because, she, the Mary-Kate, Ashley, Michelle, Michelle wasn’t part of the first season, right? She wasn’t alive. – [Matt] No, she was a little, little infant, baby. And Jesse had a mullet, too, in the first season. Oh, yeah. A baby. She was a baby. We watched her grow up. We watched them grow up. Yep. – [Stevie] Yeah, it’s true. At some point they stopped growing, though. They did. – [Stevie] Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation. – [Link] Well, Stevie, how old? – [Stevie] At the start of the series. – [Link] How old do you think he is? I mean, look at that stache. But how old would you think? I mean. He’s a Klingon, and I don’t know what the Klingon age is. We met with an expert Klingon guy one time. Yeah. Now those are, those are, those wrinkles come with age. Now when they’re first born, those, that’s like a totally smooth. I think you can count the wrinkles like a tree. I think he’s supposed to be 190 years old. Oh, really? Yeah. You think he’s got like, he’s got some years on him, huh? But I think the character playing him in that picture right there is 37. You know how they made his forehead like that? – The. – Big raisin? The art direct, they put a big thing of, they put a big thing of, mud, like putty on his head and then the art director sat down bare assed and clenched cheeks. And the art director was a 90-year-old man. 90-year-old man. Yep, and every morning that’s what, he would sit on, sit on his forehead and just clench. That’s how they did it in season one, but in season two, you know what they did? Every day he would show up and they had a lukewarm bath and he would just stick his forehead in it for approximately two hours and then he would play the role. Shrivel up. His forehead would shrivel up. That’s what happens to you. – [Stevie] You guys know so much about Star Trek. I think he is, I think the actor who plays him is. – [Stevie] Michael Dorn. Michael Dorn is 35 at the time, and I think that this, he’s supposed to be 50. – [Stevie] Michael Dorn was 35 at the time. He was supposed to be 24, and he was born in 2340. So, that puts Star Trek. He was supposed to be 24? – [Stevie] Yeah. He’s a youngster, huh? Why? – [Stevie] I don’t know. I don’t know. Like, why? – [Stevie] I think that they’re all around the same. I don’t know, it’s hard watching. But he’s, he’s like, he’s too stern to be. Is that their, is that their way? Yeah, Klingons are stern. Yeah, I guess so. – [Stevie] Did you ever watch Star Trek? Not really. I wasn’t ever a Trekkie. It would be like, oh, Star Trek is on. – It, originally. – I’m not watching this. The original, but the original Star Trek, if it was on, all the episodes were self contained. Like you, and I think that was also the case with The Next Generation. Like it wasn’t like a seasonal, I mean there was maybe an arc of some kind. But you could just be like, oh, I’m gonna watch this. Check in on it. So total Star Trek episodes, in my life, a dozen. – [Stevie] My dad is a Trekkie. So, this was always, something like this was always playing. How much of a Trekkie? Did he also have books on the shelf? – [Stevie] He’s definitely seen every, no, I don’t think so. Does he keep up with the new iterations? – [Stevie] I think so, yeah. i mean, it gives you something to do. Is he into other sci-fi as well? – [Stevie] Yeah, he’s a big sci-fi guy. Okay, alright. – [Stevie] He was playing, The Last of Us when I was, The Last of Us? Oh, wow. I want to. – [Stevie] Video game. He plays video games? Yeah, yeah, yeah. – [Stevie] Video game. I was, you know, I was not impressed. I was impressed with the game. But I told him he needed to, you know, step it up a little bit. You weren’t impressed with his skills? – [Stevie] He got killed pretty early on. He said he had not played for a while, but I was like, dang. And they will kill you hard in that game. But then you just kind of pick up where you left off, right? – [Stevie] Huh? You just pick up where you left off. – [Stevie] I don’t know. Yeah. You asked him to play it so you could watch? – [Stevie] For a second. I was like, I’ll be into this and then, and then I wasn’t. That’s not, it’s nice that you asked, you asked your dad to do something that he was interested in. – [Stevie] So nice. And then I, then I immediately said you’re not very good at this. And he was like, I’ll never do this. – [Stevie] It’s okay. I didn’t want to play. It’s terrifying. Have you seen the, have you seen what that game looks like? I’ve seen the show. Mushroom? – [Stevie] Guts come out. Scary? – [Stevie] I told him that we went to Horror Nights and they had the live actors, with us for that. He was impressed with you? – [Stevie] No. Yep. That street goes both ways. He didn’t ask any follow up questions, huh? – [Stevie] No. Nothing. Who else we got? – [Stevie] Rachel Green from Friends. – [Link] All the friends. – [Stevie] Season one. – [Link] Young and vibrant. They are all, all mid twenties. They’re all supposed to be. They’re all in their twenties. Get your first apartment? I think 25. 25 is what I was gonna say. Supposed to be 25. She was. – 25. – 26. – [Stevie] Close. She’s supposed to be 24, and she was 25. Oh, pretty good. How many episodes of Friends have you watched? – [Stevie] Every single one. Multiple times. I don’t know that I’ve ever watched a complete episode before. – [Stevie] It’s just good fun. I’m sure I have, but. – [Stevie] It’s just good, clean fun. What about you? I definitely haven’t seen it all. Not even close. Yeah, it wasn’t my thing. I liked it, but it wasn’t appointment TV for me. – [Stevie] No. Well, it used to be on after school. Reruns would be on after school for me, so if you caught them, you caught them. My favorite thing about Friends is that, I mean, they’re just actors on a sound stage that are having a good time with each other. Having a good time. – [Stevie] I love it. And finally, Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction. – [Link] Mrs. Mia Wallace. – [Rhett] She’s supposed to be Marsellus Wallace’s wife. I think she’s supposed to be 27. That’s a good guess. I think she was 30. One. I’m gonna say 27, I’m gonna say, no I’m gonna say 26 and I’m gonna say 30. – [Stevie] She was supposed to be 25 and I believe she was 24. Oh. Oh, she was 24. Buck the trend, Uma! She played an older woman. Man. – [Stevie] I think so. Uma. Oprah. Irma. Was Irma there? Oprah. Uma. Remember that? Decent movie, that Pulp Fiction. Who else remembers what I’m talking about besides Carney? Link, you know what I’m talking about? It’s when Letterman. – Hosted. – The Emmys and. His whole, his whole bit was to dryly introduce Oprah to Uma. Uma. Oprah. Oprah, Uma, and no one laughed. And I loved it because it was the kind of thing that I loved. I don’t know where Irma was. Wasn’t there. – [Link] Check out the three new pieces to our Mythical Embroidery Collection at mythical.com including fan favorite Crystal Wash
