Welcome to Good Mythical More. I’ve heard of crochet. I’ve seen crochet, but I’ve never crocheted until today. We’re gonna learn to crochet. But first, we’re going to do mirror mirror, and this is where, uh, one of us does something and the other person does the mirror of it as if it’s happening in real time. Would you like to lead or would you like to? Ah. Why are you behind me though? You gotta do it with me at the time because I’m a bad mirror. Hey. Yeah. Well, I try, I mean, let me, let me try. It’s gonna be just be like right on top of it. You go. Oh. Wooh, ohhh, hahaha. Okay. You did do good. Yeah. Oh, I just wanted to see you do that. Well, you did it too. I didn’t see myself do it. Welcome, Megan. Welcome Megan. The last person on earth who knows how to crochet. And you’re gonna give it, you’re gonna give it to us. You’re gonna give us. Oh yes. Before I die. You give us the ability. Did you make your outfit? No. No. Oh, I wish though. You didn’t crochet this? This isn’t crochet. No, I think this is like a blanket that was sewn. Crochet is more yarny. Yes. It’s this….. Design. It’s not knitting, which a lot of people like to say that they’re both, it’s completely different. I’ve never said that. And can I, I’m really, so this is, this is a mushroom. I’ve got a bag of stuff, but I made this bag, I made a little mushroom bag. A lot of them are patterns by other people. Mushroom with a and then you put a it. That’s the thing. And then you do this, my goodness. Cinches. How, how, how long did it take to make a mushroom bag of that sort at, at this advanced stage that you’re at? Well, for me, it was only a couple days, but– Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that’s a hat. What’s this? This is a hat. It’s like a little bucket hat. Okay. Yeah. Every, everybody, everybody can do that. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, here’s a sock. Now this looks harder. Yeah. A sock was hard. No. Have you ever worn, like in what context would you wear a crochet sock? Uh, when it’s cold. That’s a big foot. Really? Is that your, is that your foot? It’s stretched. Oh yeah. By, by your foot. By my foot. You put your foot in there. Okay. Yep, and then. Oh, oh, I made this for the winner. What is that? Oh, that would be me. Here, it’s a little headband. Oh, a headband. Yeah. So you could tie it like this. Or it could be M for McLaughlin. I was to remember how to crochet last night. Oh yeah. You could do an uh m. That’s cool. There you go. It matches my sweater. Wow. Well, you haven’t won yet, dude. Yeah, I did. The whole, the. I thought you. That was the main episode. I thought you meant winning the crochet. Oh, we could do that today. Oh yeah. I’ll give it back if you have a better crochet than me. Fine. Yeah. I also, these are, so I usually give over my cooler things to friends and I keep the lamer stuff, but I have a, a few pictures of. Oh, okay. Let’s see stuff. Let’s see, some cooler. This is cooler stuff. So that’s a Dragon Dice bag for Dungeons and Dragons. Or if you just like holding dice. Wow. Yeah. I made that for a friend. Right. Okay. And I heard you guys play. Pretty impressive. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah, what else you got got? Yeah, that’s a little froggy bag. It’s kind of like this. That’s cool. It’s, it’s a frog. Now do you follow, follow a pattern or do you just make this up? That one I made up. Most of the time, I am following a pattern to the dragon was a pattern, but, but I mean, what are we, how far are we gonna get here? Not far at all. You want some green? Yes. I love green. I would, I would recommend choosing lighter colors. ’cause the darker it is, the harder it is to see the. I’m gonna go with the hawt pink. The hawt pink. And I’m gonna write you a card here. Oh yeah, yeah. In a little bit. But we’re gonna get started on this first. So. So these are smaller hooks. Oh yeah. Let me, let me, let me get, let me get, thank you. So should I take this off? Yeah. Um, this is called yarn. Lily. Lily does this. Oh yeah. She’s doing this type. She’s doing this all the time. Do I take one of these? Yeah. She’s making sweaters. And what do I do? Tie it? She hadn’t made any frogs. Okay. Hold on, hold on. I wanna learn. Yes. Uh, okay, everyone. Or headbands. So these, if you guys are feeling like these are too small, I did bring bigger ones. Um, but this is the usual size for most projects. Yeah. We, we want to be usual. You wanna be normal. Um, so first you gotta do a slip knot. So if you don’t know how to do that. Slip knot. You’re gonna. Yeah. Try to go like. I mean. Across your finger. Like the band? Yeah, like the band. Just like the band. So if you do a cross of your, oh. Yeah. Like, yeah. I thought you said I know about a slip knot. You know how a slipknot and then you just kind of pull it through. Yeah. You just pull it. It’s a Slipknot normal. A slipknot. You would not be surprised how many people do not know how to do a slipknot. And then tighten that down on it. Yeah. So then you’re gonna. And you gotta a loop Put, take the hook. Take the hook. You’re so ahead. Put that through. Yeah. And then you can tighten it. Oop. Nope. I made a knot. You made a knot? No. On the bottom or on the bo, top. Right on the bottom. On the bottom. Done. Okay. I think you should keep that winter headband on for sure. Hey. And then, what– Oh yeah, you have um, you have a here, You have a little excess. I have a little excess. Do I need to cut because I have a knot? Yeah. I’m gonna cut your knot. You just cut that? Cut that off. That never happened. That never happened. That’s like a magic trick. Well, it was scissors. Little scissas. All right, so now I’m gonna try this again. Yeah. Slip knot. He’s still slipping knots? Yeah. That’s okay. Everyone goes at their own pace. Well, I have that and then, then I’ll put this through. Oh yeah, perfect. You did it. Mm-hmm. And then you tighten whichever one feels like it’s gonna tighten. So it might be the tail. Yes, the tail. Perfect. There we go. Yes. Okay. So this is the, the shorter piece is called the tail. Mm-hmm. This is just, we don’t need that. The part that you use, you don’t need that. We don’t need that. Forget about the tail. This is called, I’ve already forgot about it. This is called the working yarn. And that’s ’cause. Yeah, we’re gonna be working it. You’re gonna be working it. All right. Um, so first we’re gonna learn to do a chain, which is not crochet just yet. Okay. A crochet is the actual knot you make. So to make a chain, you’re gonna take this yarn. Yeah. You wanna hold. Thumb here. Pointer finger here. Okay. And then you’re gonna yarn over. Hold on. I wasn’t listening to ya. I’m just looking at what? Yeah, Nick was pointing to you. Oh, to me. Sorry, Nick. You’re gonna– He wants everybody to learn. Okay? Yes. All right. Also, I’m not a professional. Do not come for me. I just do this for fun. Okay. So we yarn over. Yarn over, mm-hmm. Yep. But not over the finger. Not on your fingery. Oh gosh. What’s happening over there, man? I’m trying to get the tail. I wanna make a bag. I’m trying to get the tail out of the way. I wanna make a backpack in the next 13 minutes. Alright, so I’m gonna yarn over that. And then you’re gonna pinch the bottom part. Pinch the bottom part? Yes. Or uh, so that it doesn’t move. Uhhuh like that. And then you’re gonna hook, you see the hooky part? Yep. It’s gonna put the yarn under the hook. The yarn under the working under the hook. Yes. So it’s like that. Yes. The yarn is under the hook. Yes. And then you’re gonna pull with this hook through the loop. Oh, my loop is so small. Yeah. You can unify it by pulling the other hook. I think I did it. Did you do it? I did it, yep. Wow. That is, I’m three. Beautiful. Yeah, I did it. I’m through now. That is called a chain. And the chain is what you work your crochet on. So if you wanna do like a long scarf, you do like this many chains, you wanna do a blanket, you can go forever. So let’s try that again. Go on and try that again? Yeah. What? What would that even become? It just seems like a different type of knot. Do I push it closer? It is a knot. So push it closer. You put that around and then you– Whoa. Whoa. What? Take your pointer finger. Yep. Hold the top. Right there. Yes. I think I’m allergic to yarn. Is it made from sheep? Sometimes, yes. Wool. It’s made from the thymus of a cow. Yes. Okay. So you’re gonna yarn over. Yarn over. Yarn over again. Yeah. And then pull it. And then you’re gonna pull it through like that. Yeah. Pull it through like this. Did you like that? Like this? Pull this through. I lost it, but I got it back. Uh, almost. I think you, I pulled it through then it down, then down. Um, I’ve done it. I’ve done it. I got, I’ve got a double knot now. I’ve done it. I mean, lemme take a a down and then I’m just gonna keep doing what you I, I’m gonna keep doing that again. I’m gonna yarn over. Yeah. You just stuck your. Hook in between. Oh, I see. See, it’s like just like a braid almost. Yeah. You’re braiding, you’re, you’re pulling, you’re pulling something. So, back to the, here something. Megan, how did you learn to do this? YouTube, over the pandemic. Um, I just don’t know why. Why? Yeah, why? Why people make clothing or? Yeah. That’s a good question. It passes the time. It makes you– It’s like it’s a, it’s a hobby that I find productive. ’cause I can actually use the things. That’s cool. That I make. Apparently you can do this quick. Yeah. This is like. Lemme just see how you’re doing it. This is the quick version where you’re just making a braid like that. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay, let, okay, yeah, let’s go back. Let’s go back. Let’s do that. No, just keep going. So I want, so, so I want, ’cause I wanna, I wanna make a little bit of a chain. Two very different students right now. So yeah. So comes over here like this? Yeah. That’s called a yarn over. Yep. And also. I don’t know where to grab it so I can pull it through. Yeah, that’s the issue. So the, a tip is you’re kind of like hooking this part of the string around your pointer and middle finger. Like that. Like that, so that you have more control over the string. Control. So when you. Why are you saying the last word? He’s, it’s sinking in. That’s how I learn. Yes. And then, yes. So then you yarn it over and with this. Yarn it over and you pull it. And by holding it, you have this tension. I’ve got so much a tension from that. So much. I feel it. It’s radiating on you and then you just pull through the last hole. But you have to– I don’t know how you got there. But you have to keep holding it, right? I did it though. Yeah. So the, I don’t, you don’t know how I got here, but here I am. If you, you want this knot to be down. Down further? Uh, no. I mean like facing down. So you see how this is down here? Like that? Like that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then if you, it helps to pinch the bottom with this, these two fingers, so that you can get it through. Okay. I feel, I feel like a freaking T Rex trying to do this. Okay. Okay. Here. This is impossible. No, it’s not you guys– I don’t think anyone can do this. I’m never gonna make a backpack. I don’t think anyone can do this. You need to make a backpack. Okay. Let’s give it a little bigger. Nobody actually does this. Take your pointer finger there. Okay. I I’m gonna, I’m gonna write you a, a card. Like this? Winner’s name. Oh, I think, I’m not gonna read everything, but I’m just gonna tell you, I’m gonna fill in the blanks. Is this too much of a yarn over? Winner’s name, Rhett. That should go. I think, I think Rhett should give you the verbs. Rhett was supposed to ask you so that you– He’s the winner. He is. Alright. Gimme a noun. And then how do I— Is that what you’re saying? Yeah. That’s how Mad Libs work. How do you hold, what do I, yeah. Hold this. The warrior is not listening up there. Yeah. Pinch that. And then gimme a noun dork. Pull it through like that. Like that. I’m gonna go with dork. Oh gosh. And then, and then I go back through. Go back through dork. Do it again. Um, do it a million times. I need another noun. I need a noun. I know what it says, so. Oh, I don’t want to cheat it. Forget. Forget it. Um, noun. Um, pustule. Mm, pustule gross. I don’t know how to spell that. Pu so you wanna go over it? Uh, I need another noun from behind. Yeah. As hard as you were to come up with that last one. I’m sad to say I’m gonna need, okay. I’m gonna need three more nouns. I’m gonna need three adjectives. I’m gonna need a professional, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. More nouns. I’m gonna need a verb. More nouns. Um, um, Shiv. Sh. A, a shiv. Shiv. Like a sharp thing in prison. Yeah. All right. Another noun. Yeah. Fissure. Okay. Yup. Okay. Fisure. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Uh, I need a couple, I need three adjectives. A very different way of doing Mad Libs. Three adjectives. Just get ’em all. Arcane. Arcane. Uhhuh. Go ahead. Um, questionable. Questionable. Um, blood thirsty. Blood thirsty. Uhhuh, uh, I need a verb. Grating. Grading isn’t is an adjective. Grate. Grate. Grate. A verb, Rhett? Is a word. G-R-A-T-E. Grate. Grate. Like grating cheese. Oh, okay. G-R-A-T-E. All right. I need a profession. You do. And I need another now. Okay. So you need a profession, um, substitute Rodeo clown impersonator. Okay. And then I need a regular noun. A regular noun? And the winner’s name, uh, which is gonna be Rhett. Um, uh, you already won. Booty. And then the loser’s name is Link. So here we go. This is my Father’s Day card. Yep. Do you want? Can I read it to my myself? What about a noun? You want one more noun? Gimme that. Turd. Yep. All right. There you go. Read right here. I got you. This. Oh, thank you. A card for me. Happy Father’s Day. Well, it says Happy turds Day on it. Oh. Oh yeah. Turds day. I forgot. How’d that happen? It was after Wednesday. Deer Rat. Happy dorks day. I don’t remember saying dorks. I said dorks. Yeah, you weren’t listening. You are the best pusule in the whole wide shiv. Dumb you. You are arcane, brave, and questionable. Being a fissure and a substitute rodeo clown impersonator is tough. Yeah, it is. But you make both seem blood thirsty. You grate me every day to be a better booty. I love you. Rhett, why did you, I love, I love you. Rhett, I love you Rhett. Sincerely, Link. Okay. I thought I wrote it to myself. Kind in a way. Kind. Hey, that is so sweet, man. That really means what? Yeah. What, what’s your takeaway? How do you feel? Um, you know, I feel like a winner and, uh. I know exactly how I’m gonna celebrate Happy Turds Day. How? I don’t know how to do this, but I think I’m getting it done. Let’s see. Oh, I mean, yeah, you’re killing it. You’re making ’em really tight, so it’s gonna be impossible to like crochet later, but. So you want it, you want it to be looser than this? A little looser. You see how mine are? Ah, ’cause you keep going into it. Yeah. So how it works is like you could connect a chain to a chain. You could, um, you connected chain. I’m really lost. You crochet into chains. That’s what I meant. Yeah. You knew. Um, I think I’m getting better at it though. I think you are. Because now what I’m doing is putting this over. Yep. Looping it through there. Mm-hmm. And then pulling it through. Just pulling that through. Oh yeah. But see, you gotta make sure you guys grab the whole thing. Look at my chain. Look at my chain. It’s three deep. Beautiful. How did you do that? I don’t know. All right. And what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna show you what I’ve been working on here in a minute, but I’ve got a, I got a few more key things to do to make some progress. So I’m gonna, it goes around. Yeah, it comes through. There’s just not a lot to this. Well, come on, don’t be demeaning. Okay. Look, look at that. Look at, look at. Look at that chain. I can see how if I got good at it. I would just do it automatically and while I’m watching a show. Yeah. That’s what I do. That’s what, that’s what I’ve noticed that Lily does. She can, she can watch a show. Yeah. ’cause you just. And do this. Don’t get your hopes up, man. I don’t know if you could do that. I think after some practice. Well, hold on. I’m already getting better. Look at this. I’m so, I’m so fast now. Well, oh no, look. No, I’m fast. Boom. You are doing it backwards. Yeah, but I have my own technique. Yeah. Yeah. The backwards chain. But the moment, oh, and I look, if you pull it, it all comes out. All the work is done. Yes. So that’s not a chain. All the work is gone. It is a backwards chain. Because you’re yarning. I’m like crisscrossed. I, I don’t love the fact that like– So you gotta go. Everything I did could is just instantly erased by pulling. Well, if you make a mistake, it’s easy to fix. You know about crisscross. Okay. You also have if, if you’re like, Hey, I’m done for the day. You have these little, these little things and you can loop it through. Yeah. Well, I’m gonna tell you right now. I’m done for the day. Okay. I mean, crisscross, crisscross, wore, put that in there. Yeah. They’re closed backwards and I crochet backwards. Yeah. So this is the Rhett technique. I’m pretty proud. Yeah. It’s actually not so bad. I’m gonna go. I’m gonna go home first and I’m gonna write a letter to my daughter. I’m gonna tell her that I’ve, that I’ve learned this. Handwritten letter? Happy Turds day. Yeah. Wondering what happens here on the weekend. Watch Good Mythical Weekend to find out. The same stims or anything from a movie. We like you guys. You guys like the crow? Yeah, we, we were watching, we just watched it last night. I could tell No way. Yeah.
