GMMore 2861: We Plan The Perfect Summer Camp

Welcome to Good Mythical More. We’re gonna build our perfect day, well, our perfect summer camp day. Gotcha. In Good Mythical More, which is here. That’s right. Right now. Whenever you make a mistake, act like it was intentional and it was a prank. Just say gotcha. Okay, good. I got you. Okay. Uh, before we get into that, you gotta check out our, the new show we’ve been watching, uh, Icky Jessica, and the Mystery of the Stinky Sewer. It’s a little below our age grade, but it’s, yeah. Yeah. It’s kind of a guilty pleasure. It has a maturity to it that you wouldn’t expect based on the title. Because Icky Jessica is a, um, is an accountant. Yep. And that’s an adult thing. Mm-hmm. And the, the stinky sewer. Um, well. It’s really about infrastructure. Yeah. Accounting and infrastructure. So yeah, so it’s really for us. You should check it out. Well, we got some stuff to go through here, um, so we can make our choices. Do you wanna lay it out for us? Yeah. So we’re gonna build this, uh, summer camp day now, or summer camp, I guess it’s just summer camp. Perfect day. Gotcha. These are the options for food, which is very important. Starting at $1, you got soggy hotdog and tap water. Very common. Then you got– In, in camps. PB&J, and milk. Mm-hmm. Okay. Fish sticks and Capri Sun, and then at the top you got sloppy Joe’s and soda. Hmm. Moving on to your activities. Pick up why Are we okay? Or do you want to just do that one? Stevie wants to just do this. An overview. I mean, yeah, it’s a new thing, but I mean, not that I wasn’t really enjoying the first column, but to go through it four more times. Three more. Is that a Just kidding? It would be three. I wasn’t gonna do it. Gotcha. I wasn’t actually gonna keep going. All right. Uh, food is very important because again. This says build your ideal summer camp. So I think that, I know he said the perfect day, but I feel like I gotta be at this summer camp for however long. Well, yeah. The day is– Something that I made up? Don’t worry about that. You made that up. I don’t think I made it up. You, you were pulling a prank on us. Um, so I, I– Did you say how much money you have? $10. It’s obvious, Stevie. Why? Because we do this all the time. Do we always say $10? You’re being pretty controlling today. The answer is no. We don’t always say $10. I mean, I’m just saying. We’ve moved around the amounts to make it harder for us. ’cause people said we had it too easy. I’m sorry, I’m gonna go with PBJ. PBJ. That’s what I’m going with! And milk, because this has gotta last me all summer and I gotta say peanut butter and jelly and milk. I don’t really get tired of any of those things. If I had to just, every day I gotta go back to the pb and j, it’s still gonna be good. And it’s gonna still be a pretty nutritious meal. Yeah. Pretty sugary, but I can’t do fish sticks every day. And the sloppy Joe is too expensive. Stevie, do you want me to circle it in a different way? I mean… Yes. Because I know I put the two in there. Oh, you actually, You both did this similar circling I did too. You both circled in an interesting way. Uh, I think this might be one of my favorite meals. Just period, not just at summer camp. Just something about it. Something about when you put milk down your throat after eating that, it just really– Next time you say that, can you say drink milk? Yeah. Okay. That’s a good point. When I drink milk down my throat. No. Can you leave it? Can you leave after that? Can you leave out down my throat? Can you just say, when I drink milk, when I put milk, because milk as my drinking means it goes down your throat. When I drink the drink that is milk. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Now you’re getting controlling. Yeah. Well, I’m just, I’m, listen, I’m looking out for you. I thought I was the controller. If we’re gonna, you are. But if we’re gonna spend, uh, all summer together at this summer camp, I can’t have my best friend. When I’m not there, he’s talking to people and he is like, I wanna put some of that milk down my throat because then you, because, because then it reflects on me. And then I show up and you’re his friend, your best friend. Instead of his drink, he says, put down his throat. See the way you circled that bothered you. Yeah. Yeah, that’s right. And you fixed it. Now let’s talk a little bit about– I control myself. Kissing your crush at summer camp. I didn’t do that. I went to an all boys summer camp one week, and I never gotta go back because he didn’t take a dump the whole time. And I didn’t kiss any of the boys because that’s never really been my thing. Now I will say– But if I am, it’s gonna be a constipated one. Yep. I, no, not necessarily. I was a camp counselor. For a week when I was in college, when I did that thing where I went to New York and I did every, all those different jobs. Yeah. When I was on summer project and one of the weeks was going to the tri-state area, heard of it, and, um, being a camp counselor and we worked with the other camp counselors who have been there and it was like, oh, we’re gonna bring these other college kids in and they’re gonna be camp counselors for a week. And. Is this a Christian thing or is this a? Yes. Okay. It it, well. What I was doing was a Christian thing, like it was with Crusade, but also the camp was Christian, but it was pretty like the camp was just like kids having fun. Case in point. For Jesus. One of the things that was common– I thought you said orgies. Orgies. But you said, for Jesus. There were no orgies. It’s pretty alarming how close those two things sound the same. Costs $20. But what they talked about was. The way that the camp counselors would talk to the kids, ’cause the kids were all, you know, like middle school-ish, was they would openly talk about all the kids who were making out with each other and they called it linguini. Because they were all tongue each other. And the camp counselors– The kids called it that, or the counselors? The camp counselors talked openly to the kids about linguini. Like, you’re gonna get some linguini. That does not sound very Christian to me. Seems like stuck in my head. So now I, that’s how I talked to my wife about kissing. You want some linguini? Linguini. Um, but I, so you were like a pretend. Like the other counselors who were real counselors who were there for the whole summer had to like welcome fake week long counselors. I think the kids that we were working with came just for the week, but the other counselors were there for the whole summer. But the kids might come in for just a week and so. They didn’t know that. I had no idea what I was, I mean, I was a college kid. I can camp counsel. It’s how hard is it, right? I would just go out there and play basketball with ’em and they thought I was cool. Linguini. So, um, and then talk about linguini, which again, I was in my like real Christian judgmental days at those. So I was gonna say you didn’t linguini. No, no. When they started talking about that, I was like, yeah, bless you. That sound like a joke, sneeze. Like, you’re gonna have like a rabbit that comes out or something. Or at least a dove. Oh, no, no, no. Uh, yeah, I was like judging them in my heart. I didn’t say anything to ’em about it. Okay. I was like, were you like, oh, that’s cool man, you, you shouldn’t be talking about linguini’s. Cool, man. But anyway, I’ve always thought about how I would have liked to gone to summer camp and kissed a girl at summer camp. I never had that opportunity. I never, I had plenty of opportunity, I think, but I was too constipated. Two things, first of all, probably. It your hair. That’s kind of, I like what’s happening with it. That’s bothering me because it looks like a comb verse something. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So there’s that. For those of you who are like, is Rhett growing his hair out because he’s balding? Which I don’t know if that makes sense or not. Yes. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Yeah. Maybe don’t keep doing that. Um, I’m trying to create more of a space for it. It makes it worse. Second thing, didn’t something happen at that camp? That like kids were in physical danger. Like, didn’t some crazy happen? Was it– Oh, did you? Oh, is that a booger? Oh God. [Crew] Eww!! God. Oh God. Oh my God. No. No. Is that a booger? From your sneeze. Yeah. Oh, and look. Oh, you see that one? It is Rice Krispies. Oh man. That scared me. Or was that Mike’s our friend, Mike’s camp. Whatcha talking about where like, I just remember a story of like kids almost dying because the camp was such a free for all. What do you mean Fine, whatever. You have no patience for this. Is that what that face? No, I’m asking you a question. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Okay. That answers my question. Kids were in danger? I remember a camp story. From a counselor perspective, and it was either you or Mike that like kids were being allowed to do something. There was like – I had a a moment where kids were going absolutely ballistic. Now context. These kids were from the city and from troubled backgrounds, and so they were coming out to the camp to like. You know, see if that would help. And, uh, in, in some ways it didn’t seem to, and I was responsible for all these kids. They were like all like eighth grade kid. Eighth grade kids. Yeah. And they were hellions. I mean, they were just like, would say anything to you at all. And so they were just going completely ballistic one night. And I stepped out. This is again, this is the moment of my life that I was in. I’ve told you this story. I stepped out. And I placed my hand on the cabin and prayed. Oh. And then like 30 seconds later they got quiet. Did you do this like vocally and like performatively or you just quietly? No, they were all inside. I was outside by myself. Wow. And they were all performing linguini. It’s quiet. And I did not interpret that as a coincidence at the time. And maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it wasn’t. I don’t know. And also, did you imply that you held many week long occupations during this program? Is that what you had alluded to? I was a cook one week. Um, a Christian Cook. Christian Cook. Uh, I did a, it was actually an incredible summer. I worked at, it was always like with a church or with some organization. I witnessed multiple exorcisms one week. Um, I did not take part in them. Um, I saw, let’s see. Kind of puts the hand thing in perspective. It was a cook ,camp counselor. Um, one week we just went around colleges and like started awkward conversations with college students. That was the worst week. You know? Yeah. That kind of thing. I did a lot. I need to look at my journal to tell you all the things that I did. Um, activities. You can pick up trash for a dollar. You can play Dodge ball for $2, kayaking for $3. I like that. Kissing your crush. We’ve talked about, I mean, we both really wanted to do this and I just, I never experienced that, so I’m going for that. I’m paying the big bucks. I wanna say that too, man, but I’m just looking at what that’s gonna leave me. And so the thing is, is that I can kiss my crush back at school when we go back to school. That’s what I did anyway. That worked out for me. Okay. I was a real menace at dodge ball. And so I like that. And it’s a way to exer exert some dominance. So if like all of a sudden you, you’ve been shamed because your best friend said something like, he’s putting milk down his throat. You can assert your dominance on the Dodge Ball Court and make up for that social, uh, lack. Okay. Yeah. Got it. Camp counselor. I’m doing great right now. You could be Pedro Pascal could be your camp counselor. Bill Nye. I think that he’s grumpy. My parents? No thank you. Well, that would be weird, wouldn’t it? Yeah, maybe. Maybe. Alright, I’m going with AJ and Big Justice because that’s, that’s Camp Energy right there. That. We ran into, uh, they’re perfect for that. I, I wouldn’t say I ran into ’em. They were in the same room, uh, at VidCon and, uh, they were, there was a lot of booms going on with multiple people who were coming up to them. Yeah. And I gotta, I imagine that if you’re at camp with them, you’re gonna just be hearing booms a lot. That’s what the type of things you hear at camp. I don’t want that. And I’m stuck with the one porta-potty, which that’s a nightmare, but I back myself into that corner. That’s a nightmare. I mean, I’m not using it anyway. I’m at camp. I don’t poop. I feel like Pedro may be worth it. You think? Because that would be two, two and four. And so I’m left with $2, which means I have to either choose a mosquito infestation or the Jason Voorhees. And which Jason Voorhees is this? This is a newer one. He’s got hair back there. Is that, do they always have hair like that? Mosquito infestation? I think I’m gonna go with Jason because I think that makes it a little bit more interesting that week. I mean, you know what I’m saying? I don’t want, mosquitoes are gonna get everybody, Jason’s gonna get a couple and probably not me. It definitely, uh, adds a little spice, a little bit of steaks to you. Then I’ve got Pedro with me. You think me and Pedro are gonna get taken down by Jason? No. Not that team. No sir. I don’t think you’re a team. Uh, we would be, dodgeball team. Okay.
