GMMore 2923: Animal Sounds In Different Languages

How much do we know about animal sounds in different languages? Welcome to “Good Mythical More.” Now I just heard a chicken and what I think was a lion in the intro. And how would you- But that’s just ’cause I’m American. And what would you say a chicken- In English? The noise that a chicken makes? How would you spell it? Acka-wacka-woo! No, cock-a-doodle-doo. Well, that’s a rooster, but a chicken. A chicken goes? Bock, bock, bock. How would you spell that? B-O-C-K, B-O-C-K, B-O-C-K. And what do you think a different country, a different language might say a chicken does? Coke-a-wicka-woo, I don’t know. Exactly. You’re right. I don’t know, I don’t know much. I don’t know some things, I’ve said it before. Let’s start one. Okay, yeah, you’re gonna see how it’s spelled and what the language is, and then tell me how you think it’s said. Moo, it’s a cow! Majou? Moo! Majou? Oh no, meow, a cat. Aha! This is the easiest one. Meow! This is by far the easiest, most direct one. Meow! Majou though. No, it is pronounced more like meow. Meow! Meow. Because a cat literally says meow. Like, it sounds like… It’s so close. I think it’s more . But they say an M sometimes. They don’t mm. Sometimes they do. Ma, ma. Right? I don’t have a cat. Meow. Meow. Okay, all right, let’s get to a hard one. Or at least the next one. Groin groin. Groin groin, groin groin groin. It’s a duck. Groin? Groin? It’s a duck. Groin groin. Groin groin! Groin groin! This is a pig. Oh, you’re right, yeah, yeah, it’s a pig. How do you say that in French though? You took three years. Groin groin, groin groin. Let me drink this. I mean, I’m impressed. Color me impressed. The fact that the first thing out of your mouth groin, but you attempted to pronounce it correctly. You wanted us to say groin groin? We’ve grown. You’ve grown so much. We’ve grown. I don’t take that kind of bait anymore. I think I did say it. I did say, I said groin groin. I don’t take groin bait. But after. I don’t take the groin bait. But yeah, you’re right. Groin groin! It’s a pig, guac guac. No, you just guac guac. What is it? Okay, smarties. How about this one then? We don’t know Spanish now. Gwa! Guaooh! Guau, guau! It’s a lion. Guau! Gwa! Guau, guau, guau. It’s a dog. Think cuter. Cuter? Guau. Guau. Guau. Guau. I’m just a little cute animal. See, that’s a cat. ‘Cause it doesn’t make an M sound or a G sound. I’m gonna guau at you. Guau, guau. It’s a little dog, it’s growling. Think a little bit bigger cuter. Big and cuter? Bigger than a cat. Most of them, yours anyway. Guau! A dog? Mm-hmm. It’s a dog? Guau, it’s a dog. It’s like woof, guau, guau, guau. Now they’re wrong for this. ‘Cause woof woof! I mean, I don’t know how they pronounce it, but they’re wrong. If you’re growling a little bit, guau! Yeah, that would work. I’ma be a rap god. Oh, yes. I’ve already written down my lyrics. Yeah, me too. Well, my name is Link and I’m here to say chicken is my favorite type of poultry. Interesting. How about this one? Yo, yo, yo, I’m Rapping Rhett, this chicken tastes good in a tortilla, bet! Yo, yo, yo, I’m Rapping Link, I’ll have a chicken wrap for lunch today, I think. I like rapping, it’s the best, when it comes to chicken, I like leg more than breast. I’m dropping rhymes to make the ladies howl, when it comes to chicken, my beats are foul. When it comes to chicken, my beats are foul. I like it. Hey, listen. The best part of raps is the tortilla, if you tell me I’m wrong, I’m gonna say see ya! That sucks. That was a good one, you gotta admit. Tortilla and see ya? If you don’t like my raps, I think you should, my beats are sick, finger licking good. Am I a rapper or a DJ? I’m rapping about how my beats are so good? I’m a rapper producer. You do it all, you do it all. I do it all. Finger licking good. How about this? I’m rapping about chicken, from feathers to beak, the kids think I’m cool, so they say I’m on fleek. Bringing it back. Yours are better than mine a little bit. Yeah. Chickens say cluck, turkeys say gobble, am I the best rapper, it’s highly probable. Oh, gobble and probable. How about this? When it comes to raps, my sick beats linger, the ladies are dying for my chicken finger. Oh no, no, no, no. Put that away. Ladies aren’t dying for your chicken finger. Hey, it’s just rapping. It’s just rapping. I’m just rapping. I’m just rapping. Let’s see the next one. Kukuruyuk. This is a chicken. Coo, coo, coo! This is what I was saying, kukuruyuk! Kukuruyuk. Kukuruyuk! Kukuruyuk! Kukuruyuk! Kukuruyuk! It is a bird. If it’s not a chicken, maybe a rooster. Maybe it’s a dove. Kukuruyuk. A pigeon. Pigeon. Kukuruyuk. Kukuruyuk. Is Davin in here? Hi. Are you offended? No, rooster. Kukuruyuk, which you guys got it. Kukuruyuk! Do it the way that you would have done it in elementary school. Kukuruyuk! Oh! The rooster says- Kukuruyuk! Kukuruyuk! The cow says- Moo. It’s the same, actually, yeah. It’s the same. I had to think about it. The goat says- What does a goat say? I know, but what does- What would you say a goat says? Yeah, sheep would be baa, I don’t know what a goat sound would be. Um. Goats don’t speak, that’s what makes them creepy. The Komodo dragon says- Oh, they’re very silent and deadly. Sheep is also baa in Indonesian. Baa! Although a dog in Indonesian is guk guk. Say it again. Guk guk. Guk guk. Guk guk! Guk guk, guk guk! Guk guk. G-U-K, G-U-K. And can you explain that? It’s a dog barking. Guk guk! Guk guk. Is that what you hear when you hear a dog barking? When I was growing up, yeah. Oh, they sound different. What about a cat? Interesting. A cat also goes meow in Indonesian. Wow, this is fascinating. How could the dog be so different? I don’t know. Do animals get accents? You know, parrots do. I mean, they have to to some degree, right? No. Well, like bird songs are different in different parts of the world. It’s gotta be like- The same species of bird sounds different in different parts of the world? Probably. No. I bet you they do. I don’t know, I’m just theorizing here. But I think that animals have slight accents. Mikayla believes it. Mikayla believes birds have accents? Reddit says yes. Reddit. On r/Biology. Okay, read it. Okay. Do you want me on mic? Yes. I’m not mic-ed up. Or just yell. Just stand in front of a mic. Okay. There’s mics back there. Stevie, give us another one and we’ll come back to that. Mikayla’s ready though. Here’s a great comment. Okay, “Sperm whales and other cetaceans are known to have “localized language clicks, “sounds, and phrases, i.e accents, “here’s an article.” And it links to Science Daily. We know the guy who’s studying- But not dogs. The language of sperm whales. And it’s crazy, they’re speaking in sentences. And we’re gonna be able to decipher it soon and we’re gonna feel real bad. We’re gonna feel real bad with how smart they are. Yep. It’s not gonna be good. Maybe it’ll be cute and innocent. I don’t think it’ll be cute and innocent. I think it’ll be like… Okay, next. Come come. Polish. You did it. What does that mean? You did it. What does that mean? Kum kum. You did the groin thing. What does it mean? Kum kum! I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Kum kum. Kum kum. Kum kum. Kum kum, kum kum, kum kum, kum kum! Oh, turkey. Kum kum, kum kum, kum kum, kum kum. Kum kum. Kum kum. Bawk bawk bawk bawk, kum kum kum kum. Kum kum kum kum kum kum kum. Chicken. Kum kum! Kum! Frog. Kum kum, kum kum. Ribbit ribbit. Kum kum! Ribbit! Kum kum! Ribbit ribbit ribbit, kum kum kum kum kum kum. Yeah, this is a tough one. Well, when you think about it, ribbit doesn’t make- No, ribbit’s a bad one. They would be like, what? It’s really bad. ‘Cause you just think about the noise that a big bull frog is making, like in the south, like when they start making all that noise. It doesn’t sound like any English. It doesn’t sound like any word that you could make with your mouth. Nope. Apparently, they’re more Polish. It’s a Polish thing. How about this? Spanish. Pio pio. Pio pio pio. Pio pio! Pio pio pio! Pio pio. Pio pio pio pio pio pio pio. Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet. Yeah! Yeah. A birdie? Mm-hmm. It’s just a little tweet tweet. Pio pio. Pio pio. Huh. It’s also the sound that they used for guns in “Star Wars.” Yep, pew pew. Here’s another one. Korean. Eum mae. Eum mae. Eum mae. Eum mae, eum mae. Eum mae, eum mae. Eum mae. Eum mae. Eum mae. I’m trying to be an animal here. Eum mae. Eum mae? Eum mae. Eum mae. Ee-ah! You and me. It’s a donkey. Eum mae, eum mae! That’s close. What? That’s close? Horse. Eum mae! Eum mae! Horse? No. I mean, both donkey and horse are… Well, not better than. You haven’t hit it, but you’re close, I guess. Is it a ruminant? Eum mae! Elk. No. I would think that if you- Cow, cow! Yeah. Eum mae! Yeah, they do that. Eum mae! A lot of times they rare up into a moo. Moo! We have some corrections that need to be issued from one Davin, I’ve been told. Okay. Ergo intermissions, here we go. So I found an Indonesian sound for goat, it’s baa! Baa! Baa is goat and for a cat it’s Meong. Meong. Not meow, it’s meong? Meong. Meong meong. See, that’s better, meong. Meong. Meong. Meong. It’s not meow, it’s meong. I for one can forgive Davin I will be the first to forgive Davin. I don’t, I don’t. I don’t. Okay. I hold grudges. I do believe that they have the superior pronunciation of a cat. That would be an interesting exercise. Which language nails the sound of an animal exactly? Indonesian might be the best for a cat. Meong. And I actually think that the Korean sound for the cow is more accurate, because they lean into the eum mae! Eum mae! You know, like when a cow gets upset there’s a that happens right before it. So I like it, two syllables. Yeah. I like that. Here’s another one. Chu chu. Japanese. Chu chu, chu chu, chu chu, chu chu. Chu chu. Chu chu. Chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu. You had it close, it’s like a train in English. Chu chu. Chu chu, yeah. Chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu. Chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu. Cock-a-doodle-doo. No? Chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu chu. Chu chu chu. Chu. Chu chu. Chu chu! Chu chu! Chu chu! Hint, please. Chu chu! I had some of these growing up that I gave punny basketball player names to. Goldfish. That I told you about. That’s bubbles. Hamsters? Gerbils? Mice? There you go, mice. Squeak, squeak. Squeak, squeak? Chu chu, chu chu. You guys don’t remember Miceal Jordan and Shaquille O’Squeal? Yes, now I do. Miceal Jordan. You know, I wonder where they’re at now. Dead. Oh. That hurts. They don’t live long. You know, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen never went out to dinner together. I bet you guys each have one more rap I bet you got it in your back pocket. Towards the bottom of this list. Oh, I got one, I got one, I got one. Tortilla, chicken, shredded lettuce, we’d eat them every day if our doctors would let us. Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love, if you handle raw chicken, better wear a glove. I apologize for rhyming lettuce with let us. Okay, one last animal sound. Summ summ. German. Summ summ, summ summ. Sounds a little big more like a zoom zoom. Like a Z, zoom zoom. Summ summ. Summ summ. Summ summ. Summ summ. The summ summ goes summ summ. What is the summ summ? Summ summ summ summ summ summ. Summ summ. A bee. There you go! Oh, you got it, dude! German bee! Summ summ! Summ summ! “Mythical 24/7” is now available to stream on Vizio TVs.
