We're playing this or that with sandwiches.
Welcome to Good Mythical More.
You're big, dude.
You were so small for a. It was cool
for a little bit then very scary.
It was cute.
So we have a plethora of sandwiches
to play this or that with.
It's my understanding that all
of these sandwiches have been
photographed and eaten by Brittany.
It is true.
These are, uh, Brittany
original photo eatings.
Okay.
That we are going through.
Alright.
Uh, I do have, I have the information
about the, the restaurants and the pricing.
I find that as I look at the
pricing, in my mind, all sandwiches
cost $5, which is just not, uh.
True.
The time that we live in.
So I don't wanna influence your,
you, you should just go based
off of deliciousness and looking.
Which one would you want to eat?
Yeah.
Yeah, totally.
Okay.
Now, what do we do when we disagree?
Because you're.
Fight.
You're a cold sandwich man,
and I'm a hot sandwich man.
And let's just take it as.
We are presented with that, uh,
conundrum right here at the beginning.
So the, this looks like a Turkey.
Mm-hmm.
Turkey, it's arugula.
The thing that, what is the green stuff?
I believe you're correct.
It is arugula.
That's a lot of Turkey.
It is.
Now, I'll say.
Arugula.
They did not make the mistake that
you often complain about, which is
uneven distribution, which can happen.
I love that about this.
And, and also the ratio of
bread, meat to bread to bread.
It's almost like they took bread
out of the middle and replaced it.
There's a lot to love about that.
I will say that ingredients wise.
That's good, dude.
Ingredients wise, not super excited
about this because it's Turkey
and you're not a Turkey guy.
No.
Uh, but I will say on the that side, what.
It looks like we have a, what I would
call a chimichurri steak sandwich.
Is that right?
This is a bifana, if I'm
pronouncing it correctly.
It's a a Portuguese pork sandwich.
Oh, pork sandwich.
It's pork loin or shoulder.
Wow.
It's marinated and, uh.
Well, I gotta have that.
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had was
in Portugal, and it was the one that, I can't
remember the name, but it's the one that I
showed you that was a steak sandwich, and
then they put cheese over the whole thing.
So it just looks like a pie.
It looks like a pile of
cheese until you cut into it.
Wow.
It's so good.
But I know.
We gotta go with that, right?
Yeah.
We gotta go with the pork loin sandwich.
Never seen anything quite like it.
Yeah, that rustic bread, it
looks like that's some oil.
We're going with that.
Oh, lobster roll.
Okay.
This is, I mean, I love a lobster
roll that's, you know what I found?
I like a shrimp roll
better than a lobster roll.
This is where the same place?
No, this is the iconic, uh,
Broad Street Oyster Lobster roll.
Can I talk to you about,
speaking of $5 sandwiches?
How much a lobster roll can be.
Ooh.
Oh, so.
How much?
Over, not over $30.
When.
Over 20.
In some places, this, this one's 25 bucks.
So it's a steal.
Highly recommend something if you haven't
done this, and I, and I know this is a
little bit like, some people don't like
to do this kind of thing where they're
traveling, 'cause if it feels too touristy.
Okay.
But if you go to another country, and
also if you go to a city in America,
I think that one of the best, um
collections, like the best food court
that there is is the, uh, is it Time Out?
Um, is that what they call 'em?
Is that the name of the, I dunno,
a name of a publication called.
Time Out is a publication, right?
Yeah.
And they call, but like the
Time Out space or something.
I took, I, I told you about one of these.
We went to one.
Yeah.
Somewhere in some town.
A Time Out food court.
Yeah, and they do.
And so I know it sounds cheesy, but that's
where I got that sandwich in Portugal,
because what they do in foreign countries,
is that they take the restaurants that are
people's favorite restaurants in the town
and they give them a spot at the food court.
Interesting.
Time Out Markets.
Time Out Markets.
Go to a Time Out Market.
Now, where this is leading is in.
Boston, New York.
I went to one in Boston, so we
dropped Shepherd off at like a
summer music thing in Boston.
Mm-hmm.
Last summer.
And I'm like, oh, they
have a Time Out market.
Let's go to the Time Out market.
'Cause we had to like, you
know, how do you even choose?
Because there's so much, 'cause
So I was in Boston and they had
a place that had a lobster roll.
Mm-hmm.
Did it look like that?
So Jessie and I, it looks good.
Ordered two lobster rolls.
Two lobster rolls.
How much do you think the lobster rolls were.
I'm gonna say $32 a piece.
$45 a piece.
Oh my God.
Was it worth it?
And, and when she said
that, I was like, hold on.
When they told you that you, she was
like, well, I just, you know, once you
ordered it and then you got the credit
card, you're kind of just like, I'd
have been ordering one at that point.
We'd have been splitting that thing.
I savored that, but I'm
like, how is this, this?
Was it larger or something?
No, it looks like this.
It did.
How do they stay in business?
Was it hot?
Was it warm butter or was it cold with the.
Warm butter.
Yeah.
You could get it either way,
if I remember correctly.
And the warm butter is the way to go.
I would love it, but I wouldn't have
bought, I mean, if, if you heard that.
Price.
Would you have gone to Just wait.
Remember?
That's why I was like, I don't
want you to consider pricing here.
'cause this is just.
Yeah, yeah.
These are sandwiches that
are being gifted to you.
Exactly.
They're right in front
of you and you have to.
This is not a $45 lobster roll.
This is a fish captain, sea captain
just caught it and made it for you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm going with the lobster.
I love a lobster.
That is a good looking one.
It's all one piece.
Well, two pieces it looks like.
But those are huge pieces.
And when it's done right, it it might
be, it could be the best sandwich.
It could be.
Is it as good as it looks, Brittany?
It's amazing.
It's so good.
Alright, we're gonna go with this.
Do they still have lines
there at Broad Street?
Um, not really.
Oh, it taste better without a line.
Broad Street Oyster in Malibu.
Not crazy lines.
Malibu, I haven't been
to Malibu in over a year.
It's so far away.
Yeah.
Can you still get out there?
Yeah.
Oh, there's one in Grand Central too.
Mm-hmm.
That's kind of like a Time Out market.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It is kind similar.
The the, the new that here is a tuna.
That's not for me.
You're not gonna like that.
That's not, I mean, it's tuna.
I like it.
Tomatoes.
I don't, I'm not gonna get excited about.
Raw tuna.
Uh, seared.
We gotta stick with this.
We're sticking with this.
Our new That is a pickle
covered, is that a bao?
It is the, um, the bread, the,
the scallion bread sandwich from
Joy with the five spice beef.
Hold on, this is a thing
at Joy that I haven't had?
Yeah.
I'm, I'm going to Joy this weekend.
I'm going tonight.
For Lando's birthday.
Lando's taking friends to, uh, to Joy.
Lando's a friend of mine, he.
Uh, yeah, sorry.
The invitation was tight.
The list short.
I'm not in his friend group.
You are personally not
in his friend group, no.
Oh gosh.
Okay.
So, but Jessie's coming.
Yeah, she'll be there.
Joy, and I'm gonna get this.
Oh my God, everything from there.
I'm just like, I'm losing it.
Looking at this.
I can't.
I can't.
So that's.
Oh yeah.
Well, 'cause they have bao buns, but
then they also have their scallion bread.
You know, you can get a, a combo there too.
So you can pick like
multiple things into one.
Yeah.
I've gotta expand my horizons at Joy.
I've just been getting
the same couple of things.
I am gonna get the scallion
bread because I do not like bao.
I just, I don't like it.
I don't like the texture.
I don't like the taste.
It doesn't, it's not coming together for me.
Something about it, it's like eating.
It's like eating the resin.
Okay, well.
It's, it's like fake and, and feels fake
and then it doesn't taste like food.
But it's, I thought you would
like it 'cause it's doughy.
That's what I thought too, like
it doesn't taste like much.
It's not actually doughy, it's, it's mushy.
It's like a squish toy.
I can't say I crave it, but.
It's just not my superior.
Now I don't even know what this tastes
like, but just out of curiosity and
knowing how good Joy is, I'm gonna
go with that on this one, I feel like
we have to switch over at this point.
Also, nine bucks.
Nine bucks.
Nine bucks.
I'm, come on.
We got a new this.
This is a bagel.
Can I just say I'm just never been super
enthusiastic about bagel sandwiches.
Too much bread.
It's, I'm sorry, this is from Hank's.
I know that we do Hank's here sometimes.
I don't get it.
I don't get Hank's at all.
I don't think there's
anything special about Hank's.
Dang.
I'm sorry.
Shots fired.
I'm sorry.
It's not for me either.
It's just, bagels are hard to eat.
Well, you've also seen me try and get
like every time I make the mistake of
ordering a sandwich from Hank's and then
I have to sit in front of everybody in the
writer's room meeting, trying to eat like
a human being and it's very difficult.
Yeah, it's tough.
What's place with you can't it?
With the rip and dip bagels
and I'll rip it and dip it.
Oh yeah.
Wake and Late has 'em too.
Wake and Late.
Wake and Late.
Oh gosh.
Now only on Sunday, so the weekend, so.
Yeah, so on a Saturday when I want to be
a bad boy, what I'll do is, and I make the
whole family be bad because me and Jessie
and Shepherd will all get the breakfast
burrito from there, which is crazy good.
It's really good.
Small though.
And I will get the, yeah, because, and
which is okay, because I get the Chipotle,
uh, no, the uh, the little green.
Sweet onion.
The green sauce, and then.
We get the bagels, and if we're feeling
real bad, we get one of each kind of bagel.
Mm-hmm.
And then you get dips.
And then three different dips.
I mean, talk about the pricing on that.
When you add it on
Postmates, you're like, no.
Yeah, yeah.
No, don't look at that.
I have that part of my phone blocked out.
Yeah, you have a piece tape over.
But the.
Like, Stevie's webcam, the, um,
the, you know, you got a piece of
tape over, over tape over, yeah.
It's just privacy issues.
So if you take the, uh, the onion
bagel from, no, you take the Parmesan
bagel from there and you dip it
in the, uh, onion cream cheese.
Yeah.
And you're ripping and dipping baby.
It is exquisite.
That's the only way to eat a bagel.
It is.
So those bagels are great.
They are, but courage is
still really, really good.
It's just a different
type of bagel experience.
But we're, we're gonna stick with that.
I mean, between these two.
Yeah.
We're sticking with that, easy on this one.
Ooh.
Now we've got a cu Is that a Cuban.
Is that a Reuben?
Is that a Reuben or a Cuban?
This is a pastrami.
Okay.
Yeah, it's just a past.
From Belle's in Highland Park.
I've been there, and I got this too.
That's rye bread.
It, it's singular.
A lot of places they'll pile the
pastrami so high that it just
becomes a, a, a montro monstrosity.
They do not pile it high, and
I think the ratios are better.
I haven't been to this place.
It's Belle's.
Good luck.
It's good.
Is it just really crowded?
It's really crowded.
This, this is, they used to have like
a window and then they opened up like.
It is, the vibes are really cool, other
than the long ass line that you're in.
You have like, yeah, it's, but the
vibes of the place are really cool.
It's like a old style.
Uh, New York, I passed it.
New York Deli, I passed it.
Yeah.
They also have a cocktail menu
that's inspired, like deli
inspired, which is really cool.
So props to them on all of that.
Just the busyness factors.
Woo.
I love a messy pastrami sandwich, man.
I. But I've had it a lot.
It's a toss.
Yeah, I've had it a lot.
Let's stick with that.
We'll stick with that.
Oh, is this a hot chicken sandwich?
It's a double down.
This, this.
A Panang, Panang, Panang Chicken
Sando from Ban Ban Burger.
Where's this place at, Brittany?
It's in Sawtelle, it's um Thai Fusion.
So they do smash burgers and they
do these with, with Thai influence.
You know that's good.
I love when people start messing around.
Well, they've started off
on the right foot, which is.
I love when they mess around.
That is a chicken thigh.
The superior.
Yeah, the superior starting point
of a chicken sandwich, you know.
Oh, this is tough, man.
This is real tough.
Let's go with this.
I think we gotta go with this.
So it's Thai.
Ooh, we, we got a pickle boat over here.
What is going on?
This appears to be a baguette with
prosciutto and, uh, cornichons.
It's Daniel's favorite from
Maison Ma. Who's Daniel?
You know Daniel the owner or something?
I don't.
It's the chef.
The chef.
I don't.
I, I, this is a non-starter for me because
Does it have anything other than what I said?
Does it have butter on it?
Is that what it is?
Yeah, it has butter.
A ton of butter.
Have you had a prosciutto, Dan?
Oh, maybe that's why it's called that.
I don't know.
Maybe not.
It's just like a good baguette, thick
layer of fresh butter and prosciutto.
I mean, it's, I know it would be good.
I haven't had it.
You don't like prosciutto?
Is that what you're about to say?
Prosciutto's okay.
But it's stringy and it, it doesn't,
there's not a, it is hard to get
a clean bite and then you add on.
I just think it's hard to eat because
that baguette, you're gonna chomp
down on that and you're gonna, you,
it might, it's gonna hurt your mouth.
It doesn't feel very inviting.
Just looks like it's got mouth on
baguettes, so it's got baguette trauma.
We're gonna stick with this.
All right.
That is from this, from the.
No.
Is this is from The Cheese store?
No, this is from Ugly.
Ugly.
What's the name of that place on, uh, sunset.
We like this place.
It's just a fast food.
It's a, it's a chain.
Ikes, no Jersey Mikes.
Yeah.
Huh.
Really?
Mm-hmm.
It doesn't look like Jersey Mike's.
Jersey Mike's got, uh, bought by
private equity and they're about to
like double their number of locations.
Uh oh.
And I think that we are in a, this
could be, it could be watershed,
the quality could be going down.
I'm scared, you know, that could happen.
I'm gonna be watching you closely.
They're doubling their locations.
Yeah, I mean, I, I just paraphrased
an article that I didn't read.
It ain't broke.
You know what I'm saying?
I saw a headline.
It ain't broke.
Don't fix it.
And then I was like, oh no man.
They're gonna subway it.
They're gonna subway it.
Make it Jersey Eric's or something.
Don't do it.
We gotta stick with this.
Jersey Jared's.
Even though we love.
Don't do that.
Whatever you need.
Jersey Jared.
Don't do that.
Don't.
Oh, I really want that this, switch to that.
Oh, now chicken versus
chicken, is that Howlin' Ray's?
That's Howlin' Ray's.
Howlin' Ray's a fan of the show.
Howlin' Ray's closes early and I went there
and I was like, why do you close so early?
You have limited hours, it's because they
want everything fresh and they run out.
As is contrasted to Dave's who again, I
mean, I didn't mean to just talk about
this today, but I think Dave's also sold
to private equity, and so that's why you
see them everywhere and Dave's is really
good, but I haven't had it in a while,
but I really, I wonder what Howlin' Ray's
versus Dave's tastes like right now.
There's no competition.
It's like the OG that's keeping it real.
Mm-hmm.
Brittany says, no competition.
No competition.
No competition, and.
It's not even in the same league.
I don't know if that's the chicken
thigh though, at Howlin' Ray's.
It doesn't look.
Lemme see.
I mean, my experience is, if they know
how to cook it, it doesn't matter.
Yeah, it, it'll still be great.
I use thighs because it's, it's so forgiving.
You can get, can't mess it up
in chicken at Howlin' Ray's.
Right, just straight up fried chicken.
Dang, I just.
Still hot chicken.
Uh.
Yeah.
Yeah, you can get both.
I need to, I gotta make some plans as we can.
So you can specify the thigh.
I just go, uh, but the sandwich
is a breast, not a thigh, but you
can get all pieces of meat there.
You know what, I think we
should go with that because.
It's just, it is what it, it is not a fusion.
It's not, it is what it is.
It is what it is.
And it's amazing.
It's my favorite type of sandwich
is a hot chicken sandwich.
Oh God.
That.
This is not gonna beat that, but I like it.
What's it, Schlotzky's?
This is a spicy guy from Vesti.
It looks like a, yeah, an Italian sandwich.
That looks, that looks to
be one of the best Italians.
Yeah.
That you can eat.
I never get excited about,
uh, eating an Italian.
And, uh, never get excited about that.
Um, Little Doms used to have a sandwich
called the Brooklyn Dodger, and it was a
ver their version of an Italian sub, and oh,
boy, that that thing I, I have dreams about.
Doesn't exist anymore.
Mm. Doesn't exist.
Not enough people having dreams about it.
Dang, there's so many good
places to eat in this town.
Let's stick with that.
It overwhelms me.
It overwhelms me sometimes.
The sandwiches.
You, you will take a sandwich picture.
Good on you.
Yeah.
That is in the writer's room.
This is, or that is.
My bad, this is in the writer's room.
Yeah.
The one that's not on the sidewalk.
What do you mean it's in the writer's room?
Oh.
That picture picture was taken.
Walk through.
Oh, I thought you hung this
up in the writer's room.
I was like, okay.
Well y'all got some weird stuff in there.
That looks really good for a
normal, it's like a bacon, turkey.
There probably is a LA restaurant that
serves sandwiches called the writer's room.
Yeah.
Right.
Is it a, is it a, is there egg on it?
This is The Nancy, which
is a California club.
No tomato.
There's no egg that, I believe that's
an heirloom tomato is the yellow.
Yeah.
Yep.
I was wishful thinking.
I'm not excited about it.
I'm sorry.
Yeah.
That spread on the bottom looks
interesting, is that avocado.
It is Avocado.
It's not gonna be that.
Nope.
Howlin' Ray's.
Wow.
There it is.
Looks like you've chosen.
The Howlin' Ray's Hot chicken sandwich.
Thank you for the reminder.
Get it medium.
We gotta go there.
Check the hours though, because
you don't wanna show up late.
And the parking lot will be full.
And there's a Shake Shack nearby.
But don't stop there because you,
you're there for Howlin' Ray's.
But you don't need to do that.
Don't change your mind.
Right.
