Which one of us would last longer on Survivor? Welcome to Good Mythical More. We're gonna talk about where we think we would s- excel when it comes to different reality TV shows, who would go further on a given show. Hmm. And we're gonna start with Survivor. Now, Chase, I am told that the crew has been polled and there are comments? Oh, yeah. The crew has been polled. They had, uh, some interesting opinions. Okay. So once you guys come to a consensus, I'll tell you if the crew agreed with you, and then, yeah. There's, there's definitely a lot of comments, uh- Okay … in favor of, of either of you- Mm … in, in any given round. All right. Good. So even if we disagree, I might still be able to make you feel a little better about about yourself. So Survivor, of course, I'm a f- You're a big fan. You understand the strategy. Big fan. Um, my family, we watch, we started watching Survivor bef- right before the pandemic hit, and then that was, like, our lifeline to, like, sit down every night and just binge through season after season after season for a couple of years. Um- But when you watch it, do you think to yourself, "Oh, man, this is the decision that I would make," or are you just kinda taking it in? I've decided that I would never want to participate in Survivor. So as I'm watching it- Okay … I'm just being entertained by it. There's so many different parts of it that I am entertained by. I like the characters. I like the editing a lot. Um- So you'd like to be an editor for Survivor? The stra- yeah, I'd like to be an editor. Um, I like the strategy. I usually look at my phone during the, um, the challenges. Definitely when they're telling me how to- You're not interested in the challenges? Mm-mm. How to perform the challenges, I'm like, well, I'm about to watch them do the challenge, so I'm not gonna watch them tell me how the challenge works. You'll figure it out if you watch. I can figure that out as I watch them just do it. So I definitely, like, go to the bathroom, get a drink, just get on my phone, and sometimes that will spill into the actual challenge, and I'm fine with that because- I j- I'm really into the, to the relational aspect of the game. So I'm not much of a out play. Mm. I don't know if I'm an outwit, but I still think I'm an outlast. I also, I like my creature comforts. That, uh, I don't think- I think I would be miserable and ill- 'Cause don't you have to actually- … the whole time. I'd be in such a bad mood that nobody would like me. I can attest to that might be the case if you were in the place that you were not happy with. Uh, but I think, I don't, I think I couldn't sleep. They sleep on the ground, right? Sleep, yeah, you could… I mean, but nobody sleeps well, so the s- how do you deal with sleep deprivation? Are you saying that you're, you're used to it? No, no, no, no. I, I think I have two distinct disadvantages. Disadvantage number one, I'm just, I'm pretty old at this point. And, uh, if I don't sleep in a bed, if I sleep in a bad hotel bed, I will have a bad day the next day. In ter- and, like, and all of a sudden, I gotta sleep in a ba- So you're gonna be ill too. It's not, I don't get ill. That's not, I get, I literally get ill. Like, I will be physically unable to do a challenge. So if my back is hurting me really bad- Okay I'm not gonna be… People might be like, "Oh, he looks like he might be good at physical challenges," and then he's like, "No, he's not. He's a liability because-" That doesn't matter as much anymore … "he's, he's kinda old and his back is hurt all the time." I mean, you can be, if you're a challenge beast, you can get really far, but, like, it, people don't vote you off because you're not helping their, like, tribe through challenges. They don't. But I also think that, uh, in my little experience with watching Survivor the first few seasons, I know things have changed, my impression was people who you perceive as being competitive and really wanting to win and, uh, like, I, I would even, I would be- If you're overtly strategic … I would be accused of being strategic even when I wasn't being strategic just because of my personality a- and the way I look. People are just, "Oh, he's trying to win. He's try- he's trying to do this. He's trying to do that." Whereas I think people would assume the best about you and be like, "Oh, he's just, he's just a, he's just…" What, you would be ill. Just, just say it, dude. No, pe- no. People, "He's just a nice guy. He's just trying to be my friend." A meat shield. Other than the fact that you would be ill, that would work against you. But I don't think people would be like, "Oh, what's, Link's over there thinking about how he's gonna win this game." Every- Every, every time they looked at me- Yeah … they would think I was trying to do something conniving- Yeah and they would get rid of me 'cause they would see me as a threat. Yeah. I don't think there's any way I could make it halfway past the midway point. I'd like to think people would still like me, and, uh, I would not be strategic. I just, I don't have the energy for it. But if you were on Survivor- But yes, I would be- if for some reason you got to the point where you were on there, you would… How many d- total days is it? 26 now, yeah. Yeah You could get through that. Yeah. I s- I think I could. So I think I, I'm gonna go with Link on this one. All right. What is, what's the, what's the crew saying? The crew said 68% of the crew thought that Rhett would last longer. Why is that? Um- And that's why you would v- that's why you would vote me off. People said- Yes … that, uh, in a group of people, Link would be voted off early, uh, Rhett, because part of it is based on having a social strategy and making people like you. Um, and- People don't, the, the, the crew doesn't think that I ca- I, I, I, I care if people like me, 'cause I just don't care if the crew likes me. Right. Uh-huh. Okay. Right, yeah. And they're not people. Also, people said Link's too particular about food and wouldn't be able to get the nutrition needed to retain his strength. That is possibly true. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Link, so Link, you're gonna have to go on Survivor and prove everyone wrong. You guys are wrong. You're gonna have to go prove everybody wrong. You guys are wrong. And I don't like you either. Okay, what about Chopped? Uh, me. All right. I, the extent of my reality- You have to cook, right? … TV competition- Yeah, cooking competition show … has, has been extended already in this conversation. So you're gonna have to tell me. Is Chopped the one where they're stuck with ingredients? Yeah, they, they have to get … They're stuck with unusual or rare ingredients, and they have a limited amount of time to cook- How, how could I win this? The only way I could win Chopped is if Link was also on it. You know? No, hold on. No, it's out … You have to go further than me. That's the question. Yeah, yeah. It's not can you win or not. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So what I'm saying is that I would not be good on the show, but I would go further than him. Yeah, I think the crew agrees. Yeah. I mean, we don't even need to discuss that one anymore. That was 85% of the crew. Well, hey, you, the 15% of y'all. I'm one of them. Okay. All right, Carney, explain. I used our comfort food challenge episodes that we do where we combine unlikely episodes. That's not cooking. Well, not cooking, but you're making food creations out of ingredients you've been handed that you don't know what to do with. Yeah, yeah. He's won most of those. He comes up with unexpected things. But we're stuck with our ingredients. And I think unexpected … Stuck with what? Aren't you stuck … Are you … Do you … Are you stuck with ingredients individually- So it's, so in comfort foods … on Chopped, or are you both given the same ingredient? Everyone's got the same ingredients. See, that's the difference. But I think that if you're thinking from a producer standpoint on that show, it'd be like, "This guy's coming up with crazy stuff. That's gonna keep people hooked. Judges, let him go further." Oh, and then they would sh- they, they would manipulate it. Mm-hmm. Makes for better TV. You gotta think of the next level. Okay. All right. Okay, I can buy that. Yeah, I'm a behind the scene … I'm an industry plant. Yes. Yes. That explains your tattoos. Thank you, Carney. Yeah, you're welcome. Any other pro Link comments? Let's see. Uh, yeah, I mean, he would think more outside the box and wow the judges. Um, he'd mess around and somehow create something equal to a beef Wellington. So I would accidentally win. Yeah, exactly. All right. All right. What about, uh, Dancing With the Stars? Or Strictly Come Dancing if we're in the UK. Mm-hmm. I think we're equal dancers except for the fact that you're, everything you've already said about injuring yourself. I don't think that either one of us are good at, um- Whoa, now. Only speak for yourself … uh, uh- Only speak for yourself … d- d- dances with actual steps. You know what I'm saying? Like, I, I have not seen either of us ever do an actual real dance, like the kind of dances that would be done. I don't know how, how to do them. I've never seen you do them. Uh, the last time we- You- … I did that was, um, when we had to do that dance in Buddy System. That Tik- Oh. Oh, no, the, we did the TikTok dance. And I would say that we were bo- And we almost killed somebody who worked there … both equally bad. Like, both equally bottom-rung, like- I- learning dances … yeah. Do you think part of this also comes down to who you're paired with, like the pro dancers? 'Cause they are coming up with all the choreography for you and your dance, and, like, learning- I mean, do you get to put your feet on top of their feet? … what you're capable of. No. You're definitely not gonna do that. You'll get you'll get deducted points if you're stepping on them. But yeah, I mean, like, they're coming up with the choreography. They're teaching you how to dance. They're picking the music. Um, and so, like, a lot, a lot of times you see some of, like, the worst- I think I could like it … people, the choreographers- I think I could find a way to enjoy it dance around you. I, I could find enough enjoyment to be motivated. Oh, yeah. I, uh, yeah. Well, who's the tallest person to ever be on the show? Uh, they've had some basketball players. We're gonna look Because I don't know if that's a good or bad thing because you're gonna be so much taller than your partner, and are people gonna be like, "That's cool to watch"? Looks like it was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Oh my… Well, okay. I mean, how far did he get? Not far. Couldn't have. I don't think he made it very far. Yeah. Mm-mm. Yeah. Okay. Mm-mm. No, man. You're… I, I got this one. Yeah. I don't, I mean, I'll give it to you, but I think we both wouldn't make it very deep into Dancing With the Stars. But, but speak for yourself. Um, I'm speaking for both of us. I'd, I'd beat you. And you know what? I think I could go all the way. Dancing With the Stars. Okay. Call me. Well, they did. Once I'm done with Amazing Race. They, they did call. They've called, they've called a couple of times. Oh. Ah. We've said no. Yeah. All right. I don't wanna do it just to prove Rhett wrong. 93% of the crew decided that Link would win or go further than Rhett. Yep. Sure. Between the two of you, Link would win. Anything you wanna highlight? Uh, I mean, not in favor of Rhett, people… There's a, a quite a few people who just said, "Tall people dance bad." Yeah. Uh, "Rhett's probably too tall to be graceful." You see a lot of that with, like, the, yeah, the lankier, taller people that- Yeah … when they need to extend- Yeah … their arms and stuff- We have a bad track record … it's just a little off. Yeah. Um, in favor of Link, uh, "I think Link is less self-conscious about his dancing style, so he'd take more risks." Hm. "Link is more limber-" That's true "… and willing to dance and move his hips, so I think he'd succeed." Willing and able are two different things. Uh, when them fajitas come out sizzling, need I say more? Geez. Yeah, that's true. Thank you. I'm an icon, dude. I'm a dance freaking icon. If there was a freestyle division, you might win the whole thing. All right. Freestyle, yeah, you gotta make it far in the competition before you can do- I must say- … more freestyle dances you seem a little hurt. Yeah, yeah. I think I'm gonna go on Dancing With the Stars now. Are you, are you hurt? Uh- Your body language … phys- physically? Your body language, the look on your face. Yeah. It's like you're defeated. It's like I beat you at Dancing With the Stars. I mean- Yeah, I mean, I just played the whole thing out in my mind. You're really, you really- Yeah … seem dejected about it. Uh- It's okay. This is my con- It's okay to not- This is my contemplative posture. Okay. See, this is why you get voted out of Survivor. 'Cause I'd be sitting around thinking about, "Hmm, I'm actually…" When I, when I commit to thinking, you ever seen me do a test before? What are you thinking about? Losing Dancing With the Stars? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What is there to think about? I'm trying to, I'm trying to win at this game we're playing right now. It's not a game, see? It's f- you hurt his feelings. Just vote for him on everything. Next. Okay. Uh, well, what about Squid Game? Um- Like, real, the show Squid Game, where you will actually die. Yep. That's, the outside-of-the-box strategic thinking, I just feel like I, I would implode. I- Um, even if it wasn't life or death Yeah. The under pressure having to do something and not break something- Yeah … I think I could do pretty well at that. Yeah. I think I could, I don't think I would, I, I don't think I could make it in maybe in, like, to the top 50%, but I think you're out in, like, the se- first or second game. And they, like, there's, like, some people, like, lead gangs of people and get them to do what they want. You could do that. Lead a gang? You, so call me a gang leader? Yeah. I'm giving this one to Rhett. What's the, what's the, what's the tally? This was a completely clean split 50/50 amongst- Oh … the crew. Wow. Interesting. And people just had, had strong opinions either way. Uh, some people said Link has the vibe of the season one bumbling main character, so you'd make it pretty far. Oh. Um, I think Link could fly under the radar enough to win. Uh- Okay … we had Rhett is more mentally tough, uh, and potentially better at rash, uh, logic puzzles. But then, like, against Rhett someone said- I get rashes too … uh, Rhett would get too into the weeds about the rules and get himself killed immediately. Mm. I would ha- I would have to bumble my way through it, 'cause I'm not gonna try that hard. Yeah. D- was there a season two of that show? Yeah. And people like it? And season three. Okay. But we're talking about the game show, not the… There's a scripted, it's scripted first, right? It's the- 'Cause people died … original scripted show. There were I think, uh, three seasons. Okay. I never watched that- Right, right, right … 'cause that, like, that seemed scary. I was even too scared to watch it, so. Okay, how about The Bachelorette? The Bachelorette. So we're both single. I mean, I gotta give this one to Rhett because you're so- amorously motivated. Like when- Amorously motivated? Whenever he would get a girlfriend- I've been married for 25 years, man … I'm saying if we were single. Oh, okay. Yeah. Based on your dating life, like- I actually pursued women whenever you dated- … you, yes, you, you are like, I, you would forget that everything else on the planet existed. Yeah. You were completely obsessed with winning the girl. Here's the thing. I, I've- I mean, that doesn't mean you succeeded … I've, I've watched those shows. I, I don't watch them anymore, but, like, there's, like, a pandemic, sort of… Like, first of all, everybody watched The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, like, when it first came on, like, 20 years ago, whatever. And then I quit watching it, and then I watched it a little bit during the pandemic. And it feels like by the time the pandemic came around and that show had been around, like, the people who were on the show, um, my observation was is that it wouldn't be that hard to stand out as an interesting person. I'm not… You know what I'm saying? I'm just trying to… Like, the people who go on those reality shows. And so sometimes when I'm watching it, I can't help but- It's a bunch of tools … I, I'm just like, "Dude," like, it would be… You could… The thing that you could say right now or the thing that you could do right now, that would be… And I think I would be good at figuring that out. And yes, I think there's sometimes the girls will be like, "Oh, you know, Toby is so cute, but, like, he just won't talk to me." I think that's what would happen with you. I think they would be like- Yeah … "I w- I want Link to talk to me, but he's just not doing it. He's-" I clam up … he's on the, he's on the zip line. I clam up. You know? Okay, but what would be, like, your special thing you do when you get out of the limo? You know, like, everybody has a little gimmick- Oh, God … where they do something, like, that plays to their personality. Uh, first of all, the producers really make those guys look bad. They, they m- you know they make them do something, and I always feel bad for them 'cause- Like fake basketball dribble? Yeah. Yeah. I, like, I would be like, "I got it." If they suggested something to me, I'd be like, "I got it." And the way that I would stand out in that situation is by not doing something that made me look like an idiot. I think I would carry, like- I think so … an aquarium of fish. Yeah. See? Yeah You know? I don't know. But what would, how would you present that as a tie-in to romance? You just don't walk up with fish to say like, "Hey, there's lots of fish in the sea, and I'm one of them." Like, something like that. That's a good idea. Okay. Well, so the aquarium would be around you. You'd be coming out of the aquarium. Oh, yeah. You'd be dressed as a fish. There's lots of fish in the sea, but you've met the one. Yeah, yeah. That's, there it is. And then you bust the aquarium with a hammer, and you start bleeding, and you're like, "Oh, no." And all the fish die. Yeah, yeah. But they're fake fish. Yeah, the fake fish die. Okay. What did the crew say? The crew said, uh, Rhett would, would last longer, 75%. Uh, looks like I'm selecting Rhett because of how great he looked in the Golden Tee promos. Okay. All right. Okay. Rhett's a crowd-pleaser. Uh, Link is for specific palates. Uh- Specific palates. And then, but in favor of Link, people said, um, "Ladies love Cool Link." That's better. Is that like a LL Cool J reference? That's an LL Cool J reference. Yeah, okay. Yeah, okay. Yeah. I appreciate that. I, I don't need to hear anymore What's the next one? How about, uh, RuPaul's Drag Race? Ooh, we've both done this. Link, we both, we b- we both, uh, already did that. Yeah, but who do you think would last longer? So I, I out… You're saying I, I, uh, I out-slayed you? I think you, I think your, uh, transformation was more significant. Has any… H- here's, here's what I'll ask. Has anyone, has a bearded person won before? We're gonna have to look into that. Maybe in UK. We're looking it up. Okay. You know how they are in the UK. Oh yeah, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Uh, what was the, what's the tally on that one? It looks like 89% of the crew said Link would last longer. Yeah. Uh, Topo, Topochico cannot be topped. Uh- I don't even remember my, my name at this point. Wet McLaughlin. Oh, Wet McLaughlin. That's a good name. Oh, and look, the, yeah, there was a, a drag queen named Danny Beard, who was the most famous bearded drag queen in RuPaul's Drag Race. All right. And it was UK. All right, let's get- But no Americans. All right, let's finish with- Let's get one more … Traitors. Very popular show that I have not watched yet. So what does it take? You, you have one person who's- You got, uh, usually three people who are the traitors secretly. Okay. Uh, it's very kinda like Mafia. Mm. Uh, like the game Mafia or, or Werewolf. Yeah. You have three people who are traitors. You like playing that game. Everyone is working to build challenges to build a pot. I'm very, I'm very … This is one of my favorite types of games. I don't, I don't watch Traitors- Yeah … and maybe I should, but, like, like Mafia, Werewolf kinda thing, like, I'm very, I l- I'm very into it. Yeah. And I don't know if that is a, an advantage, again, or a disadvantage, that people are like, "Oh, you're trying too hard." But I think you would forget which one you were. You know what I'm saying? That has happened once or twice. No, I, I think I would be good, I think I'm good at lying because I convince myself that I'm telling the truth. And so in that way, I would forget, but I would've programmed myself that I'm … I might be a dark horse in this one. But strategically speaking, uh, I don't like to play the games, but if it was real life So you'd rather be a traitor in real life? Yeah. Than play the game. Yeah. What's the, what did the, what's the crew say? 57% said they thought Link would last longer in Traitors. Yeah, but they don't. Uh, and people did think that, yeah, you would forget that you were a traitor, uh- Exactly or just, like, how the game works. Which would be an advantage. And that could definitely… Yeah, 'cause everyone's looking for little- Signs … clues as to who the traitor is- Right … 'cause they get to banish one person per night. Yeah. Yep. Um, and yeah, people think- I do get accused of being… If I play Mafia or Werewolf again, like, I always get accused of being a werewolf. Like, people, maybe 'cause I look a little bit like a werewolf. But I find myself having to defend myself and being like, "No." And then I have some techniques for making it very clear that I'm not, but, like, it's uncanny how often I'll get accused. Yeah, that makes sense. So if that's part of Traitors, then that may be a problem. And then also people were just, I think, like, people were saying that Link would be so out of pocket that people would just kind of disregard you. You'd just be saying random stuff all the time.
