Can we be fooled by
some weird town slogans?
Welcome to Good Mythical More.
There's a lot of towns out there
across the United States of
America, and- And they have mottos.
Well, you know, once you form
a town, then you start coming
up with ideas for things to do.
Like- Who are we exactly?
… people start working for the town, and
people start coming up with slogans.
Um, like Fuquay-Varina, their, their
latest one is, like, "Funny name,
great place to live," or something.
I, it's not, it's not that.
It's better than that.
Apex, "The peak of good
living." That's a good one.
That's about as good as it gets.
Um- Do I know any other ones?
Um Burbank, where… What's Burbank's?
Jenna, do you know?
I have no idea.
You live in Burbank.
Come on.
I live in Burbank.
You know what?
Burbank, where- Where's your pride?
… where movies are made.
Yeah.
Where movies used to be made.
Used to be made.
Oh, uh, Burbank's official slogan is
City of People, Pride and Progress.
Okay.
We gotta work on that.
So City of People, Pride and Progress?
I mean, it should at least be- Seriously?
… triple B instead of triple P. There's
nothing entertainment related?
Burbank, City of Beer, Brides- There's
an unofficial- … and- Burbank.
Burbank.
There's an unofficial one that's
Media Capital of the World.
So I feel like I was pretty close.
Okay, we'll take that.
Burbank, you know, game shows.
All right, we're ready for you
to try to stump us with either
Fakersfield or Realadelphia.
All right.
Your first one is from Gas, Kansas.
Don't pass gas.
Stop and enjoy it.
Gas… So are, we're, we should
not have to question whether
this town actually exists.
You should question.
So you're, you're not just making
up the motto, you're making up
the name of the town, writers?
Yep, absolutely.
Writers made up things.
So there's- Everything.
So there might or might
not be a Gas, Kansas.
Gas-Can-sas.
It's fake.
It, I mean, you- Right off the
bat, y'all trying to fake us out.
You didn't succeed.
Don't pass gas.
Well, you know there's that, um, uh,
convenience store, uh, what's it called?
And it has a really weird, uh, slogan.
I'm not thinking about Come and Go.
Well, that's a pretty good one.
I'll remember it.
All right, fine.
I'll say it's real.
Prove me, prove me right.
Link is right.
What?
It is real.
Gas, Kansas is a real city named
for the abundance of natural
gas they discovered in the area.
Don't pass gas.
Stop and enjoy it.
Well, that one was, just
wrote itself, didn't it?
So what can you do in Gas, Kansas, pray
tell, since we're in a praying mood?
Probably frack.
Brack?
It's like frack?
Frack.
I meant to say brack, but I
was thinking about Burbank.
You said it twice.
Probably frack.
All right.
Um, yeah, it's hard to get to the
gas without fracking at this point.
That's a, that'd be a pretty good slogan.
Their big roadside attraction
is the gas can water tower.
I like that.
Huh.
Okay.
Well, I won't be visiting probably.
Gas, Kansas.
We've never stopped at Ka- in
Kansas on any of our- I don't
think we have … our tours.
I don't think we have.
We gotta give gas their due.
Next.
Next is Bacon, Indiana.
"Wake up and smell us."
Bacon, Indiana.
S- I'm going back to Fakersfield.
Wake up and smell us.
I just, that's just so stupid.
That's gotta be fake because no town
commissioners would … N- nobody
wants to say, "Smell us." Right.
It, it- That, that's the real
problem here … it's the us part.
If it was wake up and smell- It
Wake up and sniff
That wouldn't help.
No.
That'd make it worse.
Make-up and smells.
It wake up and smell us, like
us being the town of bacon.
What, what, um, what about, um
The home that you bring it to.
Bacon, Indiana.
Bring home the bacon
We are the bring, bring home
what… Bring home home.
That's it.
That's the real slogan for Bacon, Indiana.
So y'all have decided
you're just gonna- It's fake
create better slogans?
Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
This is fake.
Okay, good.
So does Bacon, Indiana not even exist?
It's an unincorporated community, so
I'm gonna say- Okay … no, it does not.
All right.
Unincorporated communities exist.
Yeah, you heard Co- What is it?
What does it even mean?
You heard of Calumet Springs?
Yeah.
I mean, I think Buies Creek was
technic- is technically- It was and
probably still is unincorporated.
Unincorporated.
Like, it doesn't, there's no town
council at Buies, in Buies Creek.
There's no, there's no
government structure.
There's no mayor.
There's no police.
I mean, that's where you can
wreak havoc in Buies Creek.
No police.
It was briefly incorporated as a
town in 1914, but repealed in 1967.
Ouch, that's gotta hurt.
What, Buies Creek?
Yeah, and so it seems to be
unincorporated perhaps now.
Hold on.
We just missed it.
We were, we were, we're…
Buies Creek was unincorporated?
Yeah.
It was made… It was incorporated
and then unincorporated.
I, it's like, it depends
what your source is online.
Okay.
Pe- a lot of people are just
saying stuff about our hometown.
Yeah, you guys put it on the map.
I mean, if you just Google
Buies Creek, do we come up?
What if they get incorp- uh, they
make Buies Creek incorporated just
from talking about it so much?
I don't know if- Yeah
that's how that works.
We're gonna have a
conversation about that.
If you bring enough people there.
But, sorry, yeah, Matt and
I are having a conversation.
Yeah.
If you bring enough people there.
All right.
Let's, next.
Next is Bigfoot, Wyoming's slogan,
"We're the real thing." Okay,
well, that's the- I like it.
I like this
that's the Coke slogan.
So you might need to talk to them.
We're the real thing.
Bigfoot.
I like… When I heard it, I
immediately liked it, so I'm saying
this is- I think this is real.
If, as long as Bigfoot is a
town in Wyoming, then yeah.
But I haven't heard of the town.
We're going with real.
It is fake.
And the town does not exist.
Ugh.
Ah, but, but Bigfoot does.
Writers, you see what you've
done to us when you start
lying about multiple things?
It's like, it's, it's
double disappointment.
Yeah.
Right.
Like, nothing is real.
We want the town.
That's what we were gonna
call the show at first.
Double Disappointment.
Okay.
Yeah, it wouldn't have really
caught on, I don't think.
All right, next.
Hooker, Oklahoma's slogan, "It's
a location, not a vocation."
I believe that there's many
Hookers in America, towns.
Yeah.
And you belie- and you
believe in one of them.
So I believe in Hooker, Oklahoma
And I don't think that hooker
is really the proper term
anymore Like it's offensive?
I think sex worker is what we say now.
Sex Worker Oklahoma
Not quite the same ring to it.
So if I s- if I express any
exasperation over the fact that
n- you can't say hooker, then it's
j- it, then it's just bad on me.
Like, that's the trap we're in.
It's like when people say, "Well,
you can't- I'm not in it. I'm not
in it … you can't- I'm not in the
trap … you can't say hooker anymore."
It's like, but hooker was
such a fun word to say.
If, if I can't say it anymore,
let's let it mean something else
because it, it's fun to, to be…
It really rolls off the tongue.
Let's make hooker- Hooker does.
Let's make hooker something else?
Yeah.
How about just a really good fisherman?
Yeah.
Oh- I'm a hooker
he's a hooker.
I tell you, you seen him hooker.
He's a hooker, I tell you.
Driving down the street,
you see nothing but hookers.
Yeah.
There's that new- On the way to the pond.
There's that new, uh, my wife introduced
me to… Well, she didn't introduce me
to her, she just explained her to me.
There's, you probably know, you keep
up with the music scene, uh, Slayyyter.
Okay.
She's got, um, a bunch of
fishing lures on her shorts.
She has, like, two Ys in her name?
I didn't… It was not, it, the
spelling was never shared with me.
It was just Jessie was- Three?
Three.
Three Ys.
Three, three Ys.
Okay.
She was just explaining the, the
people who played at Lollapalooza.
And- Did she go to Lollapalooza?
No.
She's just explaining
it to me.
No.
No.
Yeah, we don't do festivals.
And, uh- That, that would be a negative,
hooker … and there was a lot of- See,
I can say hooker … uh, there was a lot
of, uh, ladies that really dominated the
stage at Lollapalooza is what I was told.
And, uh- She wore fishing
hooks on her pants.
And she's got fishing… Well, Je- Jessie
was like, "What do you call those things?"
And she was like, "Fishing, flies?" I was
like, "No, no, those are lures." Lures.
Lures.
She's got fishing lures,
presumably with the hooks taken out
because that would be dangerous.
And I guess she's from the South.
Is she from the South and she's trying to
make it seem like she's a fishing girl?
She's trying to make it
seem like she's a hooker.
I don't know.
By giving our new definition.
Uh, but not the old definition.
A hooker is a fisherman.
To be, to be very clear.
Just, a, you're talking about somebody
who's very good at fishing because
we're trying to redefine the term, okay?
I'm saying this is fake because
I just don't- Oh, I think it's real
This is real.
Yes!
Good for you, Hooker, Oklahoma.
And it's actually, it's named
after a person- Mm-hmm … named
John Hooker, which was his
nickname, which I- John Lee Hooker?
Yeah.
Uh, uh, John Hooker Threlkeld.
I think I said the last name right.
But his nickname was Hooker, so I
w- maybe he was good at fishing.
But isn't what you call somebody
who employs a sex worker a John?
Yeah.
That's crazy.
We gotta- Whoa, yeah.
But not anymore.
You can't call him John.
Not anymore.
Aw.
We're not using John.
We're not saying that.
You can't say- He, he is his own boss.
Ah, he's a John and a hooker.
I get it.
Yeah.
Well, we really explored it there.
Hooker's just a last name.
I should've known that.
All right, go ahead.
This one i- is a, is
also kind of a visual.
It's Just Oklahoma Okay.
Okay, More Than Just Okay.
Just Okay.
I'm so sorry.
Got it.
Just Okay.
Just Oklahoma.
Just Oklahoma, More Than Just Okay.
Well, that's a good name for
a town, and a great slogan.
I like this.
I'm going with real again.
I wanna believe.
More Than Just Okay.
This is fake.
Oh.
Well, okay.
Well, that should be a town.
Okay.
Y'all did a good job on that one.
Yeah.
Go out, go out and make a town.
And fill it with hookers.
And by that we mean people
who are good at fishing.
Come on.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's keep it- There needs to
be lots of water around there.
Right.
It's gotta be a fishing place.
Ready.
Redlyn, Iowa.
857
friendly people and one old grump.
I mean, it's just- Well, this has
gotta change pretty often, doesn't it?
Yeah, people die, people are born.
That number, you just can't…
We're going fishing, by the way.
You can't do that.
How do you feel about that?
We have, we have fishing on the agenda
when we go on our college boys trip.
I know.
Fly-fishing.
I hate the idea of it.
But, uh, I will be, I
will just be very drunk.
But it's fun when there's
other people there.
I mean, they said I could
drink on the boat, right?
I'm not gonna give you a rod and
reel with a hook on the end of
it and a beer at the same time.
Just, listen, just give me a beer and
call me hooker, and that, call it a day.
I'm pretty excited about it.
We, hey, we're gonna be
talking, we're gonna be h- like,
talking about hookers a lot.
Well, this is gonna be- Now
that we- This'll be the time
now that it means fishing.
If we get it to catch on
with the fishing guide.
Right.
Right.
Then he will then share it with
all the other tripters, you know?
So we get on the boat with this fisherman.
We'll tell you about it after it happens,
but, um, hopes are high that we, uh- I
don't even know if we- … we survive it
I don't even know if we get on a boat.
It's a river, but that's what threw me.
It was like we're f- you
don't fly-fish from a boat.
No.
You stand in the river
You stand in the water.
But they were talking about a boat.
Maybe we, we might boat to the
fishing spot, and then you get
out and you, and you wait around.
We should watch that,
um, fly-fishing movie.
A River Runs Through It.
Yeah, there's not a lot, there's
not a lot of fishing in the movie.
There's not enough.
Oh, you've seen it?
Of course I've seen A
River Runs Through It.
It's great.
Multiple times.
Anthony Hopkins.
Brad Pitt, right?
Brad Pitt, and, uh, is
it, who was the other son?
Elijah Wood.
Is it Thanos?
Josh Brolin?
Is it Josh Brolin?
We're saying this is
faker's field while we wait.
Are you?
No, I'm saying it's real.
With the number and everything?
Yeah.
This is real.
Yeah.
It refers, the Grump
refers to a local legend.
So in- Oh … 1904, legend goes,
scruffy traveler disembarked from a
train in Redlan, and within the first
day of arriving wouldn't greet anybody,
completely ignored everyone, never smiled,
and he became the Old Grump of the town.
And to this day, the Old Grump is a
title that they give, it's actually like
an honor that they bestow on a senior
citizen 65 and up that, and they get to
be, like, the Old Grump for the year,
and they get a license plate cover thing.
And y- anyway.
That is great.
But the population can't change?
Like, i- they, they're kicking
people out when somebody's born?
We gotta keep it at 857.
I think they just opened, I think
they just adjust the number.
They probably sterilized
a bunch of people.
Yep.
So they, population control.
It's 'cause they gotta, gotta
k- uh, fit with the slogan.
All right
Next is Jenny, Indiana,
population 8,675,309, or if
you just sound it out, 8675309.
Well, that's real cute, writers.
That is real cute.
That's a lot of people in
a town I've never heard of.
Yeah, right.
That would be more than, like,
the population of most states.
But you know what?
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Jenny, nothing.
Th- this is fake.
Fake.
This is fake.
All right, let's move on.
Let's forget that ever happened.
No, I like it, though.
I appreciate it.
It was fun.
It was fun.
I appreciate it.
I appreciate it.
Gettysburg, South Dakota,
where the battle wasn't.
Yeah.
Well, that's definitely not where it was.
Yeah, they really got tired of
having to answer that question.
People driving all the way
there, realizing that's not it.
Yeah, once you start driving out
there to the west- Yeah, realize it,
I don't think there was any fighting
in South Dakota whatsoever … you
might realize that it's not a, uh,
Civil War battle.
Mm-mm.
Well, we think it's real.
So they both said real.
You're correct.
It is real.
Where the battle wasn't.
All right.
The town was founded the year after
the Battle of Gettysburg, and I guess
they, they named it in honor of it, and
quite a large number of Union soldiers,
uh- And- … eventually moved there.
Wow.
And then they regretted it every,
every- 'Cause it was in South Dakota?
… since then because it's so confusing.
All right.
All right.
You're not fooling us too much.
See what you can do about that.
Dogville, Wyoming, a great
place to sit, stay, and play.
Okay, I like this.
Dogville.
Dogville.
It's the dogville of it all.
A great place to sit, stay, and play
I mean, I don't think there's a, I don't
think there's a, a town called Dogville.
Yeah, that, that's my thing.
I just don't think that… I
don't think we would've done that.
Sounds like a game that everybody'll
be into next year, you know?
Yeah.
One of those- So w- you lost us at
Dogville … role-playing games.
Are we right?
Everybody's a dog.
You're correct.
Yes.
It's fake.
Yeah.
Not even a real place, but a
great slogan for a fake place.
Okay?
You could write a movie.
Live in Dogville.
There is a movie called Dogville.
Of course.
Okay.
But is it the town?
Is it an actual… No.
Is it a good movie?
Never seen it.
Mm-hmm.
It's great.
It's a great movie.
All right, here's our last one.
It's Chicken, Alaska.
Slogan is, "Bok, bok, bok."
I feel like I had to do, right?
Yeah, I, I, I didn't
really hear you that well.
Can you tell me again?
Chicken, Alaska.
Bok, bok, bok.
Well, that's a good chicken.
Thank you so much.
That's a good chicken, Jenna.
Bok, bok, bok, bok.
Uh, I believe this is real.
When you get into a place like Alaska,
which we've been one time, I just think
that there's so few people in certain
parts of Alaska that I think it's easy
to, I think it's easy to name a place.
What are you gonna call it?
Chick- Not a lot of red tape … chicken.
Eh, Chicken, Alaska.
Let's call it Chicken.
We'll figure it out later.
Bok, bok, bok.
You know?
So you, you believe that
there is a Chicken, Alaska?
Yes.
Because?
Why not?
And then I think that when they s- started
trying to figure out, there's such a dry
sense of humor up there, too, ironically.
It's a dry cold.
Yeah.
All right, fine.
I think it's real, too.
You've convinced me
The slogan is fake, but
the town exists Okay, okay.
See?
Oh, God.
Well, maybe they'll change it.
People of Chicken.
Bok, bok, bok.
If you're- Come on.
Yeah.
Come on.
You can always change it.
Change the slogan.
If you change the slogan to bok,
bok, bok, we will come visit you.
Check out the latest episode of Last Meals
over on the Mythical Kitchen channel now.
I'll never forget Ash.
Someone was like, "Are you gonna throw
that away?" And she's like, "I'll
save it just in case." Just in case.
This is the foreskin.
Yeah, that's my childhood.
