What if Chutes and Ladders had higher stakes? Welcome to Good Mythical More. Chutes and Ladders. It's a game. You remember it. Maybe you played it. Maybe you haven't. But have you ever played the version where when you go down a chute you have to take a nasty shot? Because that's what we're about to do. Oh my gosh. I've always been bothered by the name Chutes and Ladders because these are slides to me. Never called it a chute. Is that a, um- Slides and shoots … a regional thing or something? Like, is, does… Who calls slides shoots besides Milton Bradley? I did own this game as a child. Oh. I was very good at it because it involved no strategy, knowledge or- So when you say you were very good at it, you won 50% of the time like anyone- Right who plays this game? Let's see if that happens. Every time we hit a shoot, which is a slide, we have to take a shot. Um, you know that, um, that slide that went viral? It was that playground slide, and it was like that cop went down the slide, and he came out real fast. Um- And then what happened? He just came out so fast, and I can't even remember the details. He just like, it was this slide is way too fast. He was in uniform? Yeah. People go to that slide, and every once in a while people will be like, "We're at the slide." Huh. And one of those videos popped up on my feed, and it was a husband, and the wife was waiting for him. And he came out of that thing so slow that it was literally like, "Eh, eh, eh." He was like having to move himself. So I think they've roughened up the slide. Huh. I think the slide used to be fast, and after that cop came down so fast, they've roughened it up. I think that's a good thing. Um, would you like to go first, and would you like to be the boy or the girl? I would like to be the girl, and I'd like for you to go first. Okay. Six. Ooh, look at you. Go, go for it, Jenna. The game Chutes and Ladders was actually a, a take on the Indian game called Snakes and Ladders, which is almost 1,000 years old. Oh. So much older than this game. Yep, played the same way. And the reason it's called chutes instead of slides, basically they didn't want it to be scary for kids to play, thinking that slides are a bad thing. Yeah, like why are they in playgrounds? Oh, yeah. That, that works. Another thing that- What, what do you mean that works? You think kids are afraid of slides because they're in playgrounds? No. They didn't want kids to be afraid … If they called it slides, and then slides become a bad thing on the game, and then it makes kids afraid of slides- Ah in the real world. Oh, is that what, is that what you were trying to say? Jenna? Yes. Yes There's also- They didn't wanna turn people against slides. Yeah. Well, that was nice of them. Big Slide had something to do with that. Okay, there's another thing before I spin again, and that is I don't know why there's so much slide content that's coming up for me. I get lots of water slide content. Like, water slide's big for me in my algorithm. Those are so squirrely. You're not strapped into anything. The, the, the, the physics of it c- just goes awry. But did you know that there was a water slide that I believe was in some Scandinavian country, and it was at a water park for 10 years. I think it lasted from, like, 1995 to, like, 2005. Okay. And it was a slide that was completely underwater, and so you would go down it, but it was, the whole pipe was completely full of water, so you were completely submerged for 15 to 20 seconds. As you can imagine, they discontinued this, but it lasted for 10 years. 10 years, people getting on the slide and being like, "Oh, crap, I can't breathe." But when you hit the water, don't you stop? Uh, it's more water flowing sideways. So it was like, it was less of a slide and it was a pipe. A pipe. It was like you- Like a culvert … you can get in this pipe, and you can go completely submerged for 15, 20 seconds, which brings me to another video that came up in my feed. So signs would say, like, "Hold your breath now"? Yeah. One, two, three, four, five. This was in the Netherlands. Netherlands, yes. What? And th- another video that came up in my feed that's slide-related- Two … sometimes good old boys on the- One, two … internet will make videos where they go into culverts during a storm on a, on a, on a raft. Have you seen these? And there'll be, like, one guy with a camera at one side, and he'll run over the road- Yeah … and then wait for his buddy to come out, and those are the most nerve-wracking videos. We did that. Yeah, but the, our culverts were huge. The Keith Hills. Those culverts were real big. We were in a kayak, and, and I remember I had to get down like this to go through the culvert. Yeah, we shouldn't have done that. We shouldn't have done that. 'Cause we could've gotten sideways in there, and then the … Man, it could've been real ugly. Three. Where am I? One, two, three. So now you're standing in a basin. And I have a shot here that looks carbonated Spicy Oh, spicy? That is a spicy Sprite. What make it spicy? That's a good question. One.
