family button okay so so you’ve got some some honorable mentions well I’ve got one that giant sloth I think is is my favorite – it blows my mind before you get into this of the the bigness of such a slow animal the bigness puss plus the slowness is uh is very surprising to me well that’s why he’s dead Oh usually there’s a usually you can use a reason gonna be slow you should be big so maybe bigness plus slowness is not surprised it just feels like it’s a big piece of meat walking around though is the thing you know a lot of that I mean a lot of these extinctions have to do with humans because these animals were around before people and then people show up and they’re like oh we should eat that look he’s not even running away look at that meat just standing there waiting for us you know and then typically what happened is that people just killed off anything like that that didn’t that didn’t have some sort of way of dealing with the pressure now everyone has heard of the Tasmanian tiger right I know yeah um you said you watch Discovery Channel that’s the Tasmanian devil yeah Tasmanian tiger is like it’s probably the most famous recently extinct species because there’s controversy surrounding whether or not this thing exists there’s video of this oh really this is an actual picture this is not like in some museum somewhere that’s a picture of the thing when it lived in this video on YouTube you just search Tasmanian tiger and there’s some grainy black-and-white footage of the thing walking around it’s crazy it’s got this really big head and it kind of looks it looks like it looks more like a dog it’s not a tiger technically but it has these stripes on it that’s why people call it a tiger now the cool thing about this thing is it was a marsupial meaning it carried its young in a pouch yes and that’s where it you know the most that’s where the baby grew mostly from that time you know and gets out and then it crawls up into the pouch you know marsupial and this is the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern so there are other carnivorous carnivorous meaning meat-eating marsupials you told me about the marsupial wolf that was around now there’s a lion there lion large super line there was a wolf at one at one point so this thing was in Australia Tasmania and New Guinea you know those islands down there and the last one that is on record was 1936 but people have recorded sightings of this animal since then and I camera I saw some documentary or some YouTube video a while back where they were talking about all these people swear this thing still exists and that they see it from time to time mmm-hmm so much there’s so much controversy around this that there’s a guy named Peter right who is a tourist entrepreneur which that sounds like a great job a but B he has a 250 thousand dollar reward for any form of evidence that the tiger exists today I don’t know when he came up with this but I believe that the reward he came out with right out of hence coming up with the title tourist entrepreneur now the last one that they were okay this is the last record of the Tasmanian tiger it dates back to 1936 but then here’s another fact that seems to contradict that but the last known one to be killed oh I know what it is they had them in captivity these ones that you see in the picture were in captivity hmm but the last one shot in the wild last one that lived in the wild was shot by a farmer Wilf batty Wilf batty is his name he’s a farmer and I guess in Australia or New Zealand the northeastern part of my Bona so he this guy saw this thing hanging around his property for a couple of weeks and then he’s just like that thing looks scary I’m going to shoot it so he’s claim to fame as he shot the last times media says meaning oh yeah he extinct to fight him what else do you have I have a great arc which is a baleen one which I didn’t think big England’s already too exciting everyone knows about the saber-tooth tiger you have heard of the top saber-tooth tiger I haven’t seen enough Discovery Channel to know that I love those guys and then originally we did have the t-rex on on the list just because it was but I don’t want to watch GT Rex back I don’t want to bring dinosaurs back period are you the Jurassic Park thing scared me for four weeks but these mammals that are recently extinct actually there are ways that they they can you know they’re bringing the mammoths back we talked about this on a long time ago on an episode because if they find something that the DNA has been preserved which DNA can stick around for a long time especially when it gets frozen so you’ve got these you know Manas that are in the permafrost that got the DNA it’s intact they bring it out and then they create the embryo and they incubate the embryo within an elephant because an elephant is a distant cousin or whatever are not so distant cousin of mammoths so the baby will theoretically grow inside the mother elephant when that baby’s born that moms gonna be freaked out I had a hairy one Bob what do I do I don’t think ill of us talk good point yeah but that’s what she’d be thinking her husband Bob would be like oh must is our mailman Harry well here ya are the male elephants Harry here’s a question note do you think that we should be bringing these back I mean you know you want them to go ethical I mean I’m just asking the question I mean the things that’s extinct should we bring it back why not that’s what I say why not uh you know it’s going to happen I mean thank you okay well I think you may have given the reason because all we’ll do is exploit it we’ll just put it in a zoo I want to bring you bring back the mammoths what are they going to do with it well there’s all that a couple places around in the entire world you’re not gonna captivate it captivate it yeah they’re gonna put it in is it I’m gonna captivate this thing um kept captivity it called it captive you know there’s only a few places in the entire world where it wild animals are roam free is mostly those huge parks in Africa like they like Gordon is that a good word sectioned off this land that doesn’t in America there’s you know there’s like yeah there’s Yellowstone but there’s no real there the wild animals there’s wild animals in the parks know what I’m saying like big wild animals like what are you gonna do let a mammoth loose in the middle of North America where it was no they’re not going to do they’re not going to do that anymore right we’ve taken over right you’re gonna put them in a zoo right now I don’t want that for it what if you could hide it even worse exactly though but there’s the human in you wants to ride the mammoth right you do tell me I mean you free mammoths rides you guys say no to that well be in the tourist entrepreneur that I am or what was it yeah torso ID I just I just want them to be I just want them to be happy well then it probably shouldn’t come back so that’s the ethical dilemma you know you bring it back kids are gonna ride it at the State Fair you don’t bring it back it doesn’t come back does it mean is it tamable like an olive Mammoth’s or something a little bit different I don’t know we got to bring it back and find out maybe we should bring him back and find out we should you
