anything hey what you think about my phrases what you know seriously what do you think about the fact those phrases that are overused it is interesting that I use a lot of those it’s it’s and it does come from when I worked as an engineer at IBM because it’s IBM such a large corporation a it’s fascinating to me how these phrases are perpetuated it’s like it when there’s an ecosystem of people working together these phrases catch on like wildfire like in any meaning if someone has to leave the meeting they would say I’ve got a hard stop in five minutes so and that’s that’s basically our way of saying and I always thought it’s very weird I could never bring myself to say that one you have to you can’t the meeting can’t go over you have somewhere else to be I want you to say that it caught it I a hard stop I have a hard stop at 11:00 I just don’t I just don’t like I in general I don’t like catchphrases it’s in because of phrases it’s him yeah it makes you because it makes you seem like this person is like a tool tools use catch phrases well what how good because it’s like I don’t I don’t only want to communicate something but it’s but I think it’s cool to use this phrase like a catchphrase it there’s implied a self-awareness of I’m cool when I’m saying this it’s like this lingos it’s not just it’s it’s like oh I’ve been here longer than you mmm like I have a I have some authority like I I know how to speak you say you’ve got to be somewhere at 11:00 I say I’ve got a hard stop hard out at 11:00 some people say that – yeah I have a out they would say that yeah and I mean have a hard stop I have a hard of things it’s just if you take you say that stuff at work you end up finding it at home yeah if I go home and I tell my wife I’m like baby I got a heart out it’ll look let’s bring a different turn dish then okay if I if I’m like yes I’m on your list here I’ll tell you if I’ve done anything I mean I can’t we’ve got new ones right with a straight face I can’t tell someone to think outside the box I can’t do that I feel like I’m not thinking outside the box by telling someone to think outside the box there is no what I mean oh it’s ironic yes especially if you’re staying in a box open your brain windows that’s pretty good I mean it doesn’t make any sense make yourself vomit that’s it go to the new ones make yourself vomit is is I get the right guys you’re gonna have to make yourself vomit on this one Pluto whoa we got to really try hard I get it you did you tell one of the new ones crapped all over my phrases man but what yeah I’m very interested in the origin of the term throat I throw under the bus I really threw teen under the bus on that one there was a kid in our elementary school who literally got run over by a bus I mean but no one in our schools is that he’s saying it was so hot he sank down to the asphalt it ran over his head the wheel of the bus probably don’t know the wheel of the bus ran over his skull but but the it was so hot that the asphalt melted and pushed him down into it and he totally survived was it it was me it wasn’t his head man it was his chest it’s an urban legend who was I don’t know what might not have even happened there was a kid in our elementary school there’s only 300 students let me tell you what happening I don’t remove it was read some more the corporate ones and I’ll tell you if I would say them back in the day give you a heads up this is not a corporate this is everyone I will admit I say this one give you an idea also say why I give you a heads up I’m going to give you a heads up this and let you know that we’re gonna fire you what they’re all related like being rude sanaya fires okay take it offline means let’s not talk about this in this meeting let’s talk about this later like I was saying we should take this yeah I would say though now one that went around a lot was due diligence I’m gonna do my due diligence on this one yeah and I hate it because it says unit saying do do do due diligence that’s when you that’s when the answers come back bad I did do due diligence this dude gave it up but it I always thought it was do diligence I’m gonna do diligence I’m gonna I’m gonna be diligent about what I’m about to do but really it’s I’m gonna give it its due d ue diligence I think here’s my advice for those that fascinating out there in the corporate world who you’re trying to make your work your way up you can fall in line screw you I thought that’s what you were gonna say here’s my advice for other people in the corporate world no I’m help I’m giving legitimate advice now man you soiled it this you will you can do due diligence on my advice seriously I think we need to focus back on our faces because it was like focus back there just oh we’re out of focus oh yeah yeah there and now we are very focused huh so thanks for joining us for good mythical more we’re in focus we now in focus um okay that’s fine I thought it was heady I don’t mean to throw you under the bus on that one but we’re gonna have to take this offline you can be a person who talks like that in your job open the window flaps you’ll be you’ll progress you’ll probably move up a few ladders but then you’re just gonna be another person who’s just part of the problem whereas if you’re like hmm you know what I noticed this person they don’t use any of those terms just like when they need to be out of the meeting they just say they need to be out of a meeting all of a sudden people will be like can she say that can she talk like that and then all in actually no she’ll be the CEO and everyone why talking normally again I agree with that I think a one that everyone would say people say net-net these aren’t on your list I’m remembering these people say net net be it what like better man like if you wanted to totally boil down a point like if you’ve been talking for 15 minutes like listen bottom line is I doubt about the updated version of bottom line is was net net and they would say something how it ridiculous is that I mean how can you take anyone seriously if they’re like net net net net net net yeah that’s ridiculous and they would also say I’m blocking and tackling you ever heard anybody say that yeah it’s like get back to the fundamentals right yeah primary tasks your basic tasks yeah get back to basics man why can’t you just say that blocking and tackling what client engagement I’m never never never heard of take it to the next level III don’t I think that’s good I don’t think we should get rid of that take it to the next level of course that’s good remember there was a friend of ours whose wife would say at any rate and any right you remember that we talked about that before true but she would say at any rate anytime every right yeah at a very high rate yeah yeah at any rate how did you write really whenever there was nothing to say we don’t know not any right seriously this is what you think that’s right anyways but at least it
