Brenda Song is live on the stand up to red carpet to give us a peek at all the action let’s go to her now Brenda thanks guys and as you probably know the stand up to cancer TV broadcast will be airing very shortly and supporters are already filing in including y elbron hi y get over here Hi how are you and celebrity and cancer cancer Advocate Hi Megan former hi you guys so wait y tell me a little bit about your experience with cancer so my mom got breast cancer about 10 years ago mom’s a four time breast cancer survivor so I’m with you glad glad to hear that um and the experience obviously changed us all so started um a cancer organization because of it and you know has spent a lot of our life with and around it amazing so let’s talk a little bit about the power of social media and how that’s changing how we engage with cancer you know what social media is changing everything the internet is changing everything the way we communicate and consume content and product is changing and so with that the way that we communicate and consume information is changing too so we have more access to information than we’ve ever had before and to community so you’re less isolated when you’re going through experiences like caner yeah I second that um and now so Megan so why do you think that it’s important for the younger generation to be involved with this fight against cancer well the social media Generation all the M Millennials we have 75 million Millennials in America and through their content across all social media platforms they can reach billions of people people so they’re the they’re the most important group of people that can raise awareness to the entire world and we need to provide the right content for them to educate people about all the available options when it comes to uh cancer treatment yeah thank you guys thank you guys so much for stopping by for being here so remember we all need to get involved in the fight against cancer this isn’t just your parents fight this is our fight too all right back to you guys Max and Tyler everyone keep it up yeah okay 100% of your donations support standup to cancerous research programs so anything you can do will make a real difference and to keep you motivated here’s a very special treat as long as you keep donating YouTube Stars Rett and Link are going to do one of their famous challenges where they’ll eat incredibly nasty food I’ve seen what’s under here don’t peek it’s the worst it’s the worst Rett and Link have something extremely unappetizing waiting for them right in here and even better the more that you donate the nastier their food gets okay and now in um what’s the clumsiest clumsiest segue ever please welcome our next guest Ken Jang thank you my wife TR was diagnosed with stage three triple negative breast cancer 10 years ago and I’m happy to announce she is 10 years cancer-free my wife is the strongest person I know and tonight I I’m here to celebrate her and everybody who stands up to cancer even in the darkest moments I honestly believe having a sense of humor is possible I’m not saying make fart jokes or anything like that but if organic moments of levity come up don’t be afraid to find the lighter moments because they may get you through the darkness my wife Tran has the most amazing sense of humor and is the funniest person I know she makes me laugh she is the biggest inspiration in my comedy and in many ways the hangover is my love letter to her I mean let me explain there’s there’s moments in the movie I actually tell Vietnamese in jokes just to make her laugh and and playing Mr Chow was so cathartic for both of us and helped us both get through the worst experience of our lives and what I’ve learned from this journey that it’s totally okay and even therapeutic to find lighter moments in the face of adversity I mean that being said I mean you don’t have to be naked like me in The Hangover and leap on a Bradley Cooper’s shoulder with a tire iron but just you know that is exact what I’m saying so if anyone watching at home wants to get naked and beat up Bradley Cooper with a tire iron his home address is 1511 no he’s going to win an Academy Award this year stop it enough it’s so inappropriate copy that I’ll just post it on Twitter no that’s Tak the bit okay well this seems like a good time to introduce our our next guest actress host and comedian she does it all Liza Koshi here she is all right how we doing guys okay Liza I heard that you’re going to take part in a very special challenge for us tonight that is correct as long as you mean lucky for me I also never go anywhere without a lovely assortment of stick on tattoos let’s see what we got wow that’s perfect we special on where should we put that like it um I think right here all right let’s put it in right on there we are standing up and we are sticking on we are standing to cancer and sticking it on your face that’s true that’s hold on put it on there put it on we get this on Fe on your feed and liking it on Facebook and Twitter and giving us a thumbs up on YouTube we’re going to keep sticking tattoos on Liza let’s do whatever we can to cover my body in the most GES way possible okay that sounds like a plan to me perfect and now let’s switch gears a bit and hear a special message from Katie kurick I stand up for Abby Shapiro a fun feisty Fearless 16-year-old who lost her battle with osteosarcoma 3 years ago today I stand up so that more children diagnosed with cancer will have a chance to grow up thanks Katie I’m Mackenzie Ziggler and I’m Maddie Ziggler to inspiring a women whose lives have been affected by cancer so Tenny I heard that you recently you lost your best friend at cancer I’m so sorry um so who’ you go to for support um you know on A’s family and friends we are all so connected and especially over this loss I mean it brought us much closer together so just having that support has been tremendous yeah it’s amazing and Pierce as a cancer survivor yeah you’ve been a part of standup to cancer since you were 10 we actually met at 2010 stand up to cancer so we go way back how does it feel to be back here with stand up to cancer on its 10th anniversary it is so amazing such an amazing feeling I actually got to work with the teams putting all this together all summer as an intern and so just being back here as a Survivor you know my first few years I was in treatment I was um you know inness of disease and now being back here as a full Survivor as being part of the crew that got to actually work on this and meet all of you guys and all the people that are here for the first year so amazing oh that’s amazing and so Tenny how do you feel about you know this younger generation being involved and having like real conversations about cancer how important do you think that is now I think it’s absolutely imperative for younger people to get involved and have that ation because we just don’t think it’s ever going to happen to us but the reality is is you know cancer doesn’t discriminate so I think awareness absolutely you know awareness education talking to each other about it I talked to so many people who won’t even visit a doctor for a checkup me I’m like BL T once a year let’s do it exactly we got to take care of ourselves P you in exactly thank you guys so much for stopping and chatting with me seriously and remember you guys all the donations that you guys make a real difference to the lives of people fighting cancer every dollar helps now let’s find out how healthy eating can help prevent cancer with my healthy dish blogger and Chef my Newan thanks Brenda as you said one way you can help prevent cancer is by eating healthy that’s right um I am all about eating healthy even though I ate a Burger about four minutes event yes I’m a I’m a real health nut myself right anyways one way I like to get all my fruits nuts and whole grains is by making a smoothie and to show you how easy it is I’m going to open up these two lunch boxes see what we have inside and whip you up a delicious healthy smoothie oh my gosh right here right now yes let’s see what we have we have Greek yogurt which is high in protein lots of probiotics for your gut right right right milk which is high in calcium yes it is I’ve known that since I was a kid banana potassium yes I knew that we like in school Carriage for everybody um actually I’m going to actually just snack on on some almond butter that stuff is good to snack on just squeeze it right out of the tube like toothpaste all right guys so thank you m you’re welcome enjoy so much okay hello hello I’m Hannah Hart now one of the advantages of being a wildly famous internet star is getting access to what we in the biz call a craft Services table and now this table in particular is filled with important reminders that cancer can affect more areas of the body than we probably think for instance fellas did you know you can get skin cancer on your this symbolizes your penis and ladies obviously you probably know a lot about breast cancer but did you know cantaloupes are delicious see you thought I was going to liken cantaloupes to breast but really these are way too firm I don’t know anyway ladies remember though you can check yourself for signs of breast cancer by paying close attention to how your breasts normally look and normally feel and then reporting any changes to your doctor right away or ask a friend to check maybe turn it into a fun thing also last but not least one way that you can reduce your risk of cancer is by staying active that’s why you should take every opportunity to exercise even if it’s something as simple as like juggling fruit dinner and a show 3 second rule okay thanks Hannah I’m I’m here with with Rhett and Link the duo behind good mythical morning and a ton of Awesome videos you’ve seen all over the internet thank you and I’m very excited because the guys have agreed to take on one of their famous challenges trust us this is going to be awesome I’m glad you’re excited why excited I’m not particularly excited about this but we agreed to do it because uh we see the donations pouring in and we want to thank you for your generosity and the best way that we know how by eating something completely disgusting right and um we are going to eat what’s under here and then as the donations pour in we’re going to eat increasingly gross things so let’s see what we’re going to start with here oh this is good three two one here we go this is the waxa which is a quesadilla but instead of cheese we have melted crayons it’s stuck to the point I can’t why not right this is very real why you messing with MineZ you’ve got your own look we’re going to check in with Rhett and Link a little bit later let’s go to Tyler at the fan wall y yeah hey thanks Max appreciate it uh reminder keep those donations coming uh they support research that can help people fighting cancer people like Brendan Connor’s check this out I always had the travel bug but not like this it was one of those things where you just realize how short life can be and there was a lot of places that we wanted to see when realizing why am I waiting to do it why don’t we just do it as soon as possible I’m Brennon Connors um I’m 35 and I am a metastatic melanoma cancer survivor back in 2010 I scratched a mole on my back and my younger brother was like you know your back’s bleeding so went to a dermatologist they did a pre-biopsy and saw that it was precancerous they found out that there was a mass underneath my shoulder that’s where the cancer had actually spread to some way went from the left side of my shoulder um an area and then made it into uh my right bone of my leg and it was one of those things where it was kind of like surreal were like by the way you have stage four metastatic melanoma I was able to then enter into this clinical trial I was going through an immunotherapy process and when imun y essentially is it’s taking the cells in your body and it’s actually teaching them that cancer is bad so your own cells are then fighting the cancer cells they were monitoring to see how the cancer was continuing to shrink my last actual treatment was about 5 years ago and I’ve been uh cancer free since then so towards the end of the treatment was when I was um turning 30 and I wanted to put something together that was going to make everything you know worthwhile I wanted to make a list of things that I could do should do and I thought 30 things in the year 30 would be a great way to kind of do that my goal is to finish all 30 things by the time I 31st birthday happened for 30 and 30 we decided to go to the Havasupai Falls which is in the west room of the Grand Canyon it’s a solid 11 M hike and then you come upon this beautiful waterfall this is actually the first time where I told uh my girlfriend at the time I now wife that I loveed her we were in Italy we ended up going up to Lake Garda I decided that the best part would be to surpris her and get engaged in a castle overlooking the water with mountains in the background that she had no idea that it was coming and it was absolutely beautiful we were at Rainbow Mountain part of the two-day hike was actually camping overnight at 14,000 ft just sleeping was tough because the air was just so thin we got to the peak of it and it was 16,300 ft which is essentially taking three empire state buildings and putting them on top of each other you don’t really know the limits of kind of where your body can actually take until you actually push it um and you don’t have a choice for pushing it when you’re going through different kind of of therapies you just have to trust that you know your body is strong enough and that it will do it being able to struggle through actually breathing as you walk to the top of the mountain which just one of those realizations that all these trips that we’re going on you want to step back and think about the reason why we’re doing all this and how it has like a larger meaning while I was posting some of these a lot of people didn’t know that I was actually going through Outpatient Treatment while the photos on social media look you know great there is obviously always that story that goes on behind my advice to someone that’s currently battling cancer is just keep your head up knowing how far you’ve come already and just staying positive wow amazing Brandon what an inspiring story that was so great thank you for sharing uh we’ve got a lot of Stories on our fan wall right here keep them coming in but first we got to check out what’s going on with the wax Adas it looks delicious how’s it going Max well I’m I’m really proud of these guys all right let’s just about to dive in three two 1 dink it sink it I mean real heroes it says non-toxic on the crown but that doesn’t mean it’s enjoyable or technically edible and just keep going man I think tonight we’re going to try to eat each and every bite of whatever you we put in front of you you just said we so here you go and now I think this is our time to throw it to somebody else I did it who else do we have coming up and I’m still standing up to cancer you guys really did it man well I’m still doing it it’s going to be a while this is going to take me a second I’m going to do it proudly though okay now here’s a message from Jessie I stand up to cancer because I hope for a world where all patients become long-term survivors hey guys I’m Candace Patton and I want to take a second to speak to all the women who are watching us right now now no doubt some of you younger ladies are looking forward to turning 21 it’s a big deal it was for me but there’s something we need to do when we turn 21 get screened for cervical cancer in fact between the ages of 21 and 29 women should have a Pap test done every 3 years and beginning at the age of 30 the preferred way to screen for cervical cancer is with a Pap test combined with an HPV test every 5 years now look I know this is a lot of information but basically what I’m saying ladies is that we need to be proactive about getting checked for cical cancer so take the initiative talk to your doctors and stay on top of your appointments we owe it to ourselves because remember it’s up to us to take down cancer hey hey so we have Liza here and she is completely tatted up now you guys are such givers which means I kept on putting a tattoo this one’s still healing healing it’s still healing working on it but now um it’s near and dear to my heart see stand up to cancer I’m pretty uncomfortable I mean all this glue is kind of like a little bit itchy here I think I’m actually starting to break out just to tiny bit I think is that a rash or is that a tattoo don’t worry we’ll you’ll be you’ll be fine probably uh all right I trust you you want to you want to get some more tattoos yeah I think so oh I I could use a couple more I think I think my sleeve is getting a little full wow look at you you’re really building up I really went everywhere I can’t show a lot of it on camera but no you cannot everywhere else because this is live T and you cannot be naked on on camera can live unfortunately cuz I would love to unfortunately but they’ll still donate anyways I’m sure right guys absolutely keep them coming I’ll still keep getting tatted right she keep getting tatted the boys over there will keep eating weird stuff and we’ll all love you so much please keep donating thank you so much for helping out liking our stuff sharing sharing with your friends we love you all so much we do we do so guys make sure to keep sharing keep talking and keep the conversation going because we’re all aware but now it’s time to do something about it right yeah that’s right that’s right so did did this all hurt that one on the forehead looks extremely painful does it actually this is one that hurt the least that’s the one that Max gave you right that’s the one that Max gave me I’m glad it finally worked out cuz it looked like it was something was struggling for a little bit it was it was I’m going to be standing up to cancer for like weeks cuz that’s for the rest of your life you’re going to be standing up cuz these are permanent that that’s correct these are permanent and we should all be standing up to cancer for the rest of our lives let me see out oh you see it check it out man looks good looks good I did a good job thank you who did this who did this other stuff sorry guys I’m going to go sit uh good luck with the tattoos I’ll see much you think looks good right I mean yeah thanks man okay Tyler has a very special interview let’s go over to T hey guys uh I’m here with Paris bris and Britney and Ashley Wilkins um Paris you play a character who’s battling cancer on the Netflix series Alexa and Katie as an actor you kind of got to research for your roles did you learn anything about researching for her um what I I learned is oh thank you uh what I learned is that even if somebody does have cancer you shouldn’t treat them any different they’re the same person um and it doesn’t make them any different than how they were before absolutely yeah and and they really appreciate that kind of thing you know like it’s it’s tough trying to you know deal with that while other people are trying to like treat you differently especially when you’re a teenager all you want to do is just be normal and be yourself and then when everyone’s treating like oh my gosh like they don’t want that they want to just be treated normally that’s that’s awesome I’m glad you got that from that um that brings me to Britney and Ashley uh can you guys tell us a little bit about how cancer affected your you guys and your family so for me my brother he was diagnosed when he was four which made made me S years old and my sister was a year old so I practically had to step into becoming my sister’s mother because my parents went around all the time so I had to grow up really fast yeah absolutely that makes a lot of sense did you guys look to anyone for help I mean like growing up so fast young age did you guys have anyone outside of your immediate family to kind of ask questions and help you out yeah um our Aunt really helped us out a lot she we practically moved into our house and like so much that my cousin thought that we were siblings because I spent so much time at their house wow that’s interesting though like cancer even though it is such a a hard and intense subject it really does bring people together my my mother passed away and it brought me and my my dad and my brother so much closer with each other so there’s positives in there it’s it’s it’s an interesting thing um thank you guys Paris Ashley Britney thank you so much for these stories uh and it’s stories like this that remind us how personal the fight against cancer really is um thank you guys so much okay do not forget keep those donations coming and R and link my boys over there will eat something even more disgusting than melted crayons and now let’s go to Brenda’s song live on the red carpet Brenda so I’m here with one of my favorite actresses Slinger SL just all around awesome babe I love you Holz um so Olivia what inspired you to get involved in stay up with cancer you know cancer has definitely hit my family in a really intense way so I think you know being able to be here and be young and to have a voice and to I think just to be surrounded by all of this incredible energy to support and to be here and to just I don’t know to be able to participate in something really incredible to move to move forward and to hopefully you know find a cure for every type of cancer out there so can I ask who you’re standing up for tonight my little cousin Jace a hi jaay um so is this your first telec yeah this is my first one and it’s amazing I’ve heard nothing but incredible things so like I’m happy to be here it’s good and how do you feel about this younger generation and how we need to be more involved with the fight with cancer I mean I’m so empowered and inspired by all of this the fact that we’re all here I mean I’m I look around and there’s so many young people here today and to be able to be in that and participate in that and to be involved and to see the growth and to see how incredible it is the support and the stamina to like sit there and to partic it just is amazing and I just like I’m so inspired by TR it and I’m really happy to be here we’re so happy to have you um I’m very excited you’re going to love it it’s so much fun I know I’m excited I know so remember 100% of your donations to stand up to cancer go directly to cancer research program so please donate now and be sure to check out our website standuptocancer.org now I’m back with r link earlier you guys ate melted cray it was so good but now it’s time for something even more I don’t even know how to describe this uh well I’ll just tell you what it is we call this one pasta arredo yeah what better way to get crayon out of your teeth than to eat spaghetti with M dog food on it and just just so so we can authenticate this Max please smell just smell it just smell it it smells bad you don’t even need to get up in there it smells bad I can smell it’s legitimately dog food I recommend a good twirl you know if you’re going to if if you’re going to eat I’m always up for a noodle twirl going to puppy child dink it dink it and sink it all right that’s how much this means to us just keep going going to let this to be a part of this yep we are thrilled at what point to be a part of this at what point did you guys disc like decide you know what this is a real talent we just eat this you know like dog food for instance like you know what maybe we should eat that I don’t think we’ve ever decided that it was a talent until you just christened it that well clearly it is people love watching you guys e this stuff and you’re and you’re good at it I’m I couldn’t do it you never watched the dog eat dog food and said that me see but that’s where you guys have really like this is the genius because dog food is for dogs and you’ve turned it into we humans that’s right the gravy train I’m going to pass on this and well while Rhett and Link enjoy their tasty treat I want you to remind everyone that when it comes to defeating cancer the time to act is now stand up to cancer is about life-saving research making today’s cancer patients tomorrow’s cancer survivors so please donate today okay so how do we think everything’s going on are you doing okay over there how we doing on Facebook right now well I don’t know if there’s an appropriate Emoji response for what we’re experiencing I’m getting hold on I’m getting word that the donations are the people who are donating are saying they want you to eat more of of what’s Happening Here we got to see more Facebook emoticons That’s What I Call apparent hold on the Facebook have to pour in we have gotten emoticons they’re po they are who you listen I don’t believe you okay here we go in 3 2 1 we just made thousands of dollars thousands of dollars we just made th then what what you’re seeing here is it’s worth it it’s worth it philanthropy at its best totally worth it I’m so proud of these two so glad to be a part of it they’ve taken their talents and and donated them to stand up to cancer T night and we’re all so appre of you and we wouldn’t be anywhere else it really is it really is special could be doing something else here’s another thing i’ like a privil do you guys prepare the food no if we prepared it we could never eat it I mean if I prepared it I would have made this regular meat on the show do you like do you have a chef that comes in it’s like we’ve we we have a mythical Chef yeah he’s an imaginary Chef his name is Josh okay um he knows his stuff he what’s Josh’s deal he he he’s actually professionally culinarily trained but then somehow we talked him into coming and working for us what’s like the worst thing that you guys have ever eaten um today no in general I mean did it happen today we want we want put um Cod sperm into a dumpling all right so uh this this is we’ve learned a lot today from Rett and Link how well let me ask you it ain’t over have you ever fully thrown up uh I don’t know in like immediately immediate gag reaction where it just it I think you’ve actually gotten into the into this region and it and it and it returned that’s never happened to me I’ve just not been able to get things down um okay now please continue to donate more after this thank you so much they don’t want us to study cancer they want us to solve it the central passion of stand up to cancer is to bring new and effective treatments for the benefit of patients as rapidly as possible scientists come to us because they want to make a difference what stand up to cancer funding does is it brings together leaders from diverse institutions to work together on this particular problem and allows us to work effectively together across divides stand up to cancer Prides itself and successfully funds major changes and ideas in our thinking and our Technologies and the way we’re trying to speed up if a drug really is worthy of FDA approval means a lot stand up cancer is an organization that really does make a difference you can see changing people’s lives I don’t think there’s any question that patients are alive today because of the stand up to cancer efforts physicists used to look at the sky and predict when the next Supernova is going to happen this is the next Supernova in cancer medicine hey guys I’m JoJo Wright and I want to talk to you about something known as balls yeah in case you’re wondering I’m talking about you know testicles you can call them what you want nuts nads the Family Jewels but fellas they are important and do you know why they’re important well for starters because rattling off some crazy nicknames for testicles is always funny always uh but also because the rate of testicular cancer is increasing in the US and it’s important that we’re being proactive about our testicular health so I’m going to ask you to take a second and really examine your mhm go ahead I’ll wait while you while do it there okay uh now as you’re exploring your undercarriage I feel if you uh if you have any kind of uh you know lump or hardness or pain or tenderness if you feel that see your doctor immediately about half of testicular cancers occur in men between the ages of 20 and 35 but testicular cancer affects men of all ages so check yourself regularly in the bath in the shower in the bed wherever no judgment here maybe a little bit not much uh but if you’ll uh just do that we appre appreciate that and stay healthy now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to think of some more names for my my my fellas down there maybe some nads testicles junk twig and berries yeah JoJo that’s that’s great advice I started getting checked out not too long ago um because cancer runs in my family my my aunt unfortunately passed away from cancer uh about 6 years ago and my mother uh passed away about 4 years ago and she was diagnosed when I was was 18 years old right before I started the show Teen Wolf and I even thought about not going to film Teen Wolf because I wanted to be around my mom and be there for her um but getting you know that’s that’s my connection to this whole thing and being able to connect with people who have gone through the same thing is just therapeutic and and it’s really good therapy for you and and I getting checked out is is you it’s mandatory you got to do it like Jojo said anybody men and women go get checked out just just stay on top of it stay ahead of the game um but you know and my demographic I’m 26 years old and we’re trying to get the kids cuz that’s when the bad habits start whether it’s smoking or eating unhealthy you know uh we’re trying to get into everyone’s heads my age and just say let’s tackle this you know let’s let’s be a team let’s be a unit and this is this is the greatest thing ever so thank you guys for being here yeah and it affects us all you know I was talking to uh our friends uh Jason and Ashley this week and their daughter Ava just finished a 2 and a half year treatment for leukemia and thank God she’s cancer free now but I asked them I said what’s the one thing that that’s the most helpful that you’ve noticed over your period of time time while you were dealing this with this and they said donations money you know money really does help every little bit that you can give truly does help whether it’s research or going to people who are dealing with it who are financially uh you know insecure it is uh the donations really do mean something it’s true it really does a lot um and that’s why we’re here research it really has helped I mean you know we’re still fighting it but it’s helped immens ly in the world of curing cancer um and you know we’re head at the fan wall here at the fan wall and thank you guys for sending in your stories and I’m going to read a few this is from Holly she’s 10 years cancer free it always warms my heart thank you stand up to cancer 10 years that’s incredible congratulations Holly there’s an Applause in order for you thank you so much for for sharing your story this is from Arlene I donate and I pray for healing for all the those who are battling cancer people just like you just donating any little bit helps research that’s where it begins research for cancer is is is what it takes to tackle this you know this huge epidemic and issue that we’re going through and we all connect with um so thank you guys keep sending them in keep donating we love you so much stick around we have more okay you guys you’re doing a great job helping us spread the word about stand up to cancer don’t forget to donate and if you’re watching on Facebook you can donate directly by clicking the button donate and now we have a special guest who’s doing who’s going to share the their unique story of her battle with CA uh cancer Kelly Lennon hi okay here we go hi Hi how are you it’s nice to see you nice to see you too it’s great to be here um now Kelly how did you feel when you were first diagnosed with cancer well I was first diagnosed with cancer when I was 17 um I was a senior in high school um was waiting to here where I was going to go to college and um it was a shock I’ll admit it it was a shock um I had I was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma um and I went through radiation therapy 3 months of radiation therapy 5 days a week and it worked um and I mean it was hard but we did it got through and everything was great um and then fast forward 30 years and I was sitting in um a dental checkup mhm and my hygienist said are we just watching that bump in the back of your mouth and I thought oh my goodness I you know I knew it was a problem um and it ended up being a pallet cancer and um I got that taken care of head surgery um and they were deciding whether I needed additional radiation therapy to take care of it um and during that process they found lung cancer so I was diagnosed with lung cancer um and when you find out do you are and when when you are diagnosed and you find out that information what kind of advice would you give to a young person who who is been given that same diagnosis I mean how did you deal with it um I’m a scientist uh so you know my first thing was to go find information you know find out about treatments and about um prognosis and all that kind of stuff and I recommend not doing that because if you you know you Google these things don’t Google don’t Google it’s crazy you don’t want to do that talk to your doctor get advice from them because they’re the experts on your case your situation don’t you know everyone you know is going to give you advice just listen to your doctor trust your nurse okay now nurses I guess as a scientist do you know how have cancer treatments Advanced since your first battle as a teenager to your most recent battle as an adult it’s so exciting it’s so exciting 30 years ago when I had radiation therapy it was was um mostly manual you know you there were people putting lead blocks into the machine to block out different parts of your body it was very general you know they couldn’t Target very well and then going in in 2014 and having radiation you know as scary as it is it was just really interesting and exciting and hopeful because it was Hightech you know that was very precise precision and and um all computerized it was just cool and then um as far as you know my the metastatic lung cancer when I first got uh diagnosed it was 2014 and I had standard chemotherapy and radiation and it still progressed um and then I ended up you know having a second type of treatment that didn’t work for me either um and in somewhere in that time uh Amun theapy got approved for use in non-s small cell lung carcinoma so I was right there to receive it let me ask so so during this whole time what kind of support system did you have did you feel like you needed that you were happy that was available to you there was I had tons of support my husband’s a saint he went with me to every treatment every appointment um my family you know my mom and my sisters would come and take my son I have a 10-year-old so they would take him if I had to go in for surgery um my my son’s um you know I’m friends with the the women that were um associated with my son’s daycare whether it’s the staff or the other fellow parents they set up a meal train for me so that during my treatments when I wasn’t well that I didn’t have to worry about what everyone was having for dinner um and did your 10-year-old son have like how how aware of was he of what was happening he it started when he was six in kindergarten and we decided that we were going to be open with him yeah so what did you tell him well we told him you know first about the pallet surgery that I was going to have and that I had um cancer and he knew that IID had cancer as a teenager I mean we’ll talk about it um the lung cancer was kind of like oh my goodness how are we going to tell him I got to have another surgery it’s like three months after the last one yeah yeah so um you know we thought about it talked about it came up with a strategy sat him down and um we told him about it and his response was that’s okay Mama the snake lady only has one lung which is like what the heck are you talking about well apparently at his summer camp there was a woman that came in and she brought reptiles snakes all kinds of stuff and he overheard her talking about having had surgery and she only had one lung so he’s like if she can do it you can do it so he’s he’s so strong and tough at you know 10 and then what kind of advice would you give to to to other families who might be dealing with this I think my advice would be to try to tell them as much as you can without scaring them because they know something’s going on anyway totally and it would be better to sort of address it so they don’t think like I don’t want him blindsided if this progresses and I’m you know sick again I want him to know you know what we’re doing now is we’re out living life having fun because it life is short um and I want him to know you know to always have hope because my situation was you know very bad in 2015 and now I’m living life and I’m good and um and I want him to lean on his faith so you know that’s they’re all lessons that I feel like I’ve been given time to really focus on priorities for what I want to teach him yeah absolutely is good so before we wrap this up who do you stand up for today I stand up for my son Liam um because I want him to know that no matter how bad things look that you should always have hope and I also stand up for my husband um because he’s never had cancer but he’s been a cancer Fighter for four years um standing right next to me and I think that’s sort of where the strength of like stand up to cancer comes from because you can all we we’re all stakeholders so we can all stand up we can all fight together um I sort of joke about it that you know the biggest risk factor for getting cancer is having DNA so you know it’s it’s all of our it’s our issue you know well thank you touches every I mean great so well said Kelly and as you’ve heard many times tonight it’s up to the younger generation to stand up to cancer it’s # up to us to stand up to cancer it’s # up to us to change the odds Our Generation can make the impossible possible there are more than 15.5 million survivors in the US let’s keep raising those numbers we can be the generation that takes down cancer it’s # up to us it’s # up to us it’s # up to us to win cancer as we know it I’m here in the red carpet with internet star Andrew ret who we actually met at the 2016 ton which is amazing how does it feel to be back especially on stand up to Cancer’s 10th anniversary oh my God I’m so excited especially at being the 10th anniversary it’s exciting to be a part of it and to be back and just see how it’s grown it’s really cool and who are you standing up for tonight last year I was fortunate enough to not have anyone personally that has been affected by cancer but this year I am stand standing up for my grandma she was recently diagnosed so standing up for you Grandma and why do you think it’s important for the younger generation to have the conversation to be a part of the conversation about cancer I think the sooner you can start the conversation the easier it is to kind of pick up on those signs and you know kind of know ahead of time and figure those things out so you know if you need to go get tested and that kind of thing recognize the symptoms sooner yeah and we’re both talking um Andrew is actually a vegan and we’re talking about healthy eating and taking care of ourselves how do you how do you think that we can spread the message with our younger generation to start just taking those steps to not only taking care of yourself but like getting your Texs a little early and being aware self-aware absolutely I think the the best thing you can do especially to spread awareness is let other people know you know let your family know remind your friends and family you can never say it too much you know there’s no cons to repeating yourself over that kind of stuff you know you just got to be vocal and get checked it’s the most important thing you can do yep I second that thank you so much Andrea okay everyone reminder the standup to cancer TV broadcast will be live very very soon on almost all the channels on your TV so be sure to tune in and now let’s get back to Max and Tyler okay guys the donations have been pouring in great so you know what that means y we got to keep eating stuff yeah you know we enjoy those first two courses so much that we thought we would extend this meal into dessert we call this one cabug oh God cug now um of course we’ve got a cinnamon roll here of course and it we appear to have some crickets some sort of larvae stuff um and really all of my hopes and dreams for what a great meal should be and there’s also a live ant live ant let throw that live ant in go right on I don’t that wasn’t part of the but we’re winging it oh my goodness we want to thank you for donating yes uh I want to encourage you if you have not to go ahead and donate please make what we’re about to do levity that Ken Jong was talking about earlier let’s see it boys okay so let’s dink it and stink it stink it yeah baby good for you just put the whole thing in there oh you got you have a leg sticking from your mouth yeah yeah shove that in there go it gets stuck in the beard right there on the beard man I’ll eat that here I’ll a wing there’s a lot more want to eat that right there oh that’s a leg finish this I’ll CH well that’s the idea I mean I think we’re like Max we need to make up some time for this oh no we got more dog food here get you a for Max here’s the thing guys this is the future of food you realize this is the way society’s going moving mhm what is that the future yeah here we go yes Facebook and Twitter apparently going nuts it is crunchy right that’s not bad at all see it’s not bad yeah it’s it’s way you know what’s really great this looks this this looks like the oh there I me this really should have been last yeah you know what it’s the worst but it’s not dessert okay let me try this that doesn’t mean you can’t try it after dessert are there any dogs present I’m going to try this should I try it with the bugs in my mouth oh you you’re trying all of them going for it oh it smells so you know what I have eaten dog food before yeah who hasn’t you know those little beef jerky dog treats yeah it smells like beef jerky I’m like I’m I got to try it and you store right next to the beef jerky which you shouldn’t do but for some reason you do I mean so I wish I could use that as an excuse as to why I ate it but I was just I was a curious lad it’s a little bit morbid that there is an ant here to eat his Brethren just weird think about it that way you’re a cannibal yeah go on they’re trying to donate their cause to the I want this year stand up to cancer makes more money than they ever had you deserve this is the real deal here though what Tyler’s doing because hey guys link let me ask you real quick on a serious note what does stand up to cancer mean to you we actually lost one of our best friends like it wasn’t always R link it was R and Link and Ben it was our best friend growing up we were a trio and about 10 years ago he passed away from testicular cancer yeah um so means a lot to us we dedicated our our book to Ben and he’s a huge part of our our childhood so we we’ve watched The Telecast every year but being able to be here and be a part of this in honor of Ben is is a really cool thing dude that’s really cool man that’s awesome to Ben yeah all right man I guess if we’re now that you told the nice now that you told the nice story yeah I don’t want to do this yeah just experience crun it’s just a crunch you know now this right here you’re in a you’re in a cakewalk man you’re going to love almost it’s just a little texture in in your normally chewy cinnabun it’s protein and I wouldn’t look down in here after what we’ve put in it but uh okay well did you get it down I got it this this this seems like the opportune moment that’s right and a and a good way to wrap any show up um oh man wow yeah we’re going to move over here thank you link thank you much thank you Bo take the leave it there um I’m really happy I wasn’t a
