MK 605: Making A Really Good Orange Chicken Sandwich

Let’s make an orange chicken sandwich. We’re going straight Panda Express style on this that starts with a fair amount of oil in the pan. Then we’re gonna start sauteing up some garlic. Yes, now, sauteing up some ginger, some nice zest in there. Yah! Just squeeze that. Beautiful, now we’re gonna let that reduce for about five minutes. More than a fair amount of rice, wine vinegar. Just about a half teaspoon of sesame oil. Then now comes the honey. It’s like mostly sugar. Hefty pinch of salt. I’m gonna add about teaspoon of that. Take a little bit of corn starch, mix that with some water. Stir it together until it gets nice and gloopy like orange chicken sauce. Perfect. Let’s fry some chicken. Take that orange sauce. We’re just gonna drop some chicken in there. I love you, chicken. Let’s build this damn sandwich. Sriracha mayo, lightly dressed cabbage, scatter a little scallion nest. Take your burning hot chicken. Stack that right on top. Couple little pickles made with rice wine vinegar. Boom, bun on top. God, that looks good. KFC could never. That’s the best thing I’ve eaten in the last three days. Four days ago though, I went to like a pretty nice restaurant and they had a good soup. This is really good, but it ranks just behind that soup.
