[Music] Scary at the ending. >> Yes, Halloween week. Yes, it is. >> Happy Halloween, father. Yeah. Happy Halloween to you and all you murder beast out there. Yeah. >> You going to give your normal intro or did that throw you off your game entirely? >> Well, I uh I I just wondering, you know, I got me a got me a little costume to wear and I just thought uh I I kind of went and looked and I I found this gangster outfit to wear. >> Yeah. Hey, you you got a white tie, you got a black shirt, you got a pinstripe jacket, >> pinstripe jacket. >> Got your hair slick back. >> Yeah, I see. >> Oh, look at you. Do you have like a Tommy gun? >> No. >> Any other accessories? >> They tried to get me to buy one, but I was too cheap. >> Okay. >> I Hey, I’m a bad enough gangster. I I don’t need no Tommy gun. >> That’s right. I just I was just wondering, you know, if you need any gangster people to help you out at work with security for you, I’d be the man. >> Yeah, the man. You look good. I mean, maybe just a bouncer. >> Yeah, that too. I could I can handle that, too. >> You could be You could be a gangster bouncer. Oh, he’s got a what? He’s got a hat. Okay. Oh, yeah. That’s >> Yeah. >> Look at that. >> Now, did you buy >> I mean, >> did you buy that gangster hat with the with the outfit or did you have that separate? >> I already had that at the house. >> Okay. Yeah, >> cuz Yeah, I thought so. It looks a little It looks a little cowboy. >> Just a little bit. >> A little bit cowboy, but >> cowboy gangster. I like it better with just the slick back hair than the >> Yeah. >> It’s not too It’s not a fed It’s not a fedora, Dad. That was a cowboy hat. >> Yeah. Now, I had a lot. >> You are cheap. You You didn’t want to buy a fedora either. Or a top gun. >> Well, we can take a break. I got a fedora in there. >> Well, that’s what you when you go out. Is it black? >> It’s black. That’s Well, that’s what you need with your gangster suit, Dad. >> Oh, okay. >> You You use You’re wearing the wrong hat. Well, >> well, when I come to be your bodyguard, I I’ll have my fedora on. >> That’s right. That’s right. You going to be You going to be throwing bodies off the pier and stuff. Boy, I got >> I can’t say I have many enemies. I don’t think I have any enemies. I don’t uh unless I made one today somewhere, but I don’t think I did. I don’t believe I got many. >> As of yesterday, you didn’t have any enemies, but you haven’t you haven’t assessed whether you made any today. >> I’m not I I’m not going to open that ball of wax cuz I I may have one or two. >> What happened? What happened today? Did you make an enemy this morning? No. Uh cuz all I did was work by myself and >> Okay. All right. Just wanted to make sure. >> Yeah. I didn’t I didn’t make No. >> By the way, are you going to welcome everybody to Dispatches for Myrtle Beach because you didn’t do your intro. >> Oh, well. Well, I got kind of confused cuz I got so scared. >> I know. >> Yeah. Yeah. All you Myrtle Beast, welcome to Dispatches from Myrtle Beach with >> Charles Neil and my son Link. Good mythical morning. Sorry I missed that, but you know it is Halloween. >> Yep. Things get things happen differently. Things get all out of order. >> It’s kind of messed up and screwed up and and if I’m involved with it, it can get really screwed up. So >> And that’s a good thing. >> So where you going to wear this gangster outfit? And is Nancy in gangster mode as well? Uh this may be the only time that somebody gets to see me this year >> in the gangster mode cuz you know with >> everything that’s going on with >> Nancy with her uh cancer stuff. Well, we’re not going to be going out and letting her being around people >> and stuff and all that. So, >> well, you can you can uh you can be her personal gangster. >> That’s what Yeah, I’m going to do my best, but I you know, I I am trying to take care of her and uh be her uh gangster bodyguard and take care of her and I don’t even hardly been letting her drive and go a lot of places by said but that ain’t cause of the cancer. That was because of something else happened with Nancy, but um >> Okay. >> It’s It’s been u It’s been interesting. >> Yeah. >> Already. Hey, I already put two Christmas trees up for >> you. You skipped you skipped Halloween entirely. You gone and >> Well, no. The house is still decorated for Halloween, but she wanted she said, she asked me said, “Would you go ahead and get the trees up where and maybe I can work on them a little bit before I have my surgery and stuff?” So, you know, >> Got it. >> But she may not may not be able to lift her arms up and stuff for a while too much to be doing stuff. So >> So after Yeah. after her surgery, she can enjoy the decorations instead of making you do all of it. Cuz you would still do it. >> I I would do it because uh Hey, and I I you know, she she’s always she you’ve heard her tell me this to say you need some patience. >> You of course you I think you’ve probably heard that at your house, too. But uh >> a little bit. Uh, but uh I hear it right often. So, I’m trying to have I’m trying to have some patience and be a a ganga for her >> love. Take care of her. >> A ganga for her love. >> Oh, man. I like that. I like to say love. >> Ganga love, baby. I’m telling. Yeah. Now, when you say you’re going to put up two trees, though, I thought you had like six or eight Christmas trees. >> No, we >> Okay, >> we got three. >> Okay. >> But she didn’t want to put but two of them up. >> All right. >> Of course, I Hey, I I put one of them up and then I thought I was putting the other one up that I was supposed to be putting up yesterday and it want the right tree. So, I went out there and got the other one, took that one down and put the other one up. >> Well, you should have left it. You should have left them up. Then you had all three up. >> Well, it I’d had to put it in the bedroom and >> Oh, don’t want that. >> Okay. All right. >> But we’re doing good. >> I’m glad to hear that you’re supporting her. I know it’s not it’s it’s a difficult time when you’re getting she’s getting prepared for surgery and all that and you know >> Oh, yeah. >> trying to stay positive and things like setting up the tree and getting things ready. I think are uh good steps. >> Yeah. >> So, I’m glad to hear it. >> Yeah. >> But we can’t be in full Christmas mode yet cuz we got to get a little we got to stay spooky first. >> We going to get back We’re going to get back in the hall happy Halloween week mode now. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So, uh >> I don’t know if I’m gonna be doing anything this year either. I might be laying low because Christian and I took Lando um and a couple of his friends to they had they had well as homecoming dance and when they were all together taking pictures we were in a neighborhood that does trick-or-treating. So I told the families with I was like well I guess we’ll be around for trick-or-treating. I was like well hold on. I was like guys y’all are too old for trick-or-treating right? And the the mom that I was talking with, she was like, “No, they’re not too old.” And I was like, “I think they’re too old. Y’all are too old for that, right?” And they they didn’t seem to know the answer to that. So 15. I was like, “Okay, I think 16 is too old. If you can drive yourself to trick-or- treat, it’s over, >> right?” >> Yeah, that’s what I think. I we’d have to if if you’re older than 15, the gangster man might come and get you and telling you you can’t be trick-or-treating no more. >> Oh, >> but and you wouldn’t be the gangster of love. You’d be the gangster of bad news. >> Yeah. That you ain’t getting no candy no more. You have to go buy it yourself. >> I don’t know what he’s going to do. I I’m assuming just some sort of Halloween party. >> Yeah. >> If if that. But trick-or-treating now we’re just like I don’t know those days are gone, you know. >> Yeah, >> cuz we’d always we’d always have the youngest kid to take out trick-or-treating, but not last year. Last year we just dropped him off. I think year before that, maybe. So, I think this may be a first clean break from Halloween for us. >> Well, you don’t have to worry about what he’s going to wear. He He probably took care of that himself anyway. So what he was going to dress up like. >> Yeah. Well, between he and Christy, they usually handled it. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> So, no plans for me either. >> Well, what are we going to do? >> Uh, >> you got to do something to scare me, Dad. And we don’t we don’t we don’t have anybody here that comes and we’ve been here eight years and never had a trick-or-treater. >> That’s cuz everybody’s retired where you live. >> Well, there’s kids and they school here and all kind of stuff. >> Well, then what’s the problem? They got because you have to go you have too many steps. Your house is on stilts. >> Yep. And then >> no kid wants to go up. like no candy bar is going to be worth all those steps. They go to the next house. >> Well, they don’t even do that. My neighbor told me they said he ain’t had a trick or trader in seven or eight years since like we’ve been here. So, >> I hear that you’ve got something prepared for me to scare me. I >> I got a Yes, I have. Yes, I have. And uh >> You think you can do it? Well, I’m going to absolutely do the best I can do. >> And what is this? >> It’s it’s it’s a a scare a scary story to tell in the dark. >> Oh, okay. Oh, >> and you know, >> he just turned off some he turned off some lights, but it doesn’t look that any different. >> And and you know, you and I aren’t really I I think I get got this right cuz we did one of them little things before. We don’t like scary movies. >> No, I don’t. >> I don’t watch them. >> No. No. >> That’s cuz we’re smart, Dad. >> We don’t need to be putting those images and thoughts into our head. Oh, now >> now it’s dark. >> Now it’s getting dark and we >> So, what are you about to do? >> I’ve got a little Viper story for you. >> Okay. with about the vapor. It says a a widow lived along on the top floor of an apartment house. One morning her telephone rang. “Hello,” she said. “This is the Viper,” a man said. “I’m coming up.” “Somebody is fooling around,” she thought and hung up. Okay. >> A half an hour later, the telephone rang again. It was the same man. It’s the Viper, he said. I’ll be up soon. The widow didn’t know what to think, but she was getting frightened. Once more, the telephone rang and again it was the viper. What? I’m coming up now, he said. She quickly called the police. They said they would be right over. When the doorbell rang, she sighed with relief. “They are here,” she thought. “Don’t answer.” But when she opened the door, there stood a little old man with a bucket and a cloth. “I’m the viper,” he said. “I wish to wash and vip the windows.” Windows. >> I what? I wish to vip the windows. >> The windows. >> Vindos. Yeah. We I wish to v and wipe the windows. >> The windows. >> The viper wishes to wash and wipe the windows. >> The windows. Yeah. So, yeah. >> It took a long time for the viper to get upstairs. Yeah. Well, he he must have got tired of uh talking to her, so he went somewhere else and vin the windows. >> The vendors. >> The vendors. Yeah. Yeah. Well, what kind of person what kind of person comes into your house to watch? You got somebody coming in your house to wash the windows? >> Really? Well, uh, sounded like she lived in an apartment building and they must have vised and viped the vendors. >> There you go, Dad. >> For the people there >> because she’s a vido. >> Yeah. >> And then the cops showed up and what happened? Did they arrest him? >> Uh, it don’t just >> I feel bad. I feel bad for the guy. He was just trying to wash the windows and he got arrested. >> That’s such a horrible story, Dad. No. Is he Is he still >> Is he rotting away in jail right now? >> No, he’s he’s ving and vifing vendors still. >> Okay. All right. >> They let him go. Okay. >> They let him go. >> They let him go. >> They figured out that, you know, it was hard to understand what he was saying a little bit and >> he’s So, he’s still ving and viping the vendors. >> Okay, you can turn the lights back on now. As scary as that was, I don’t think I can take anymore. Oh god. Yes. Put the lights back on. Gangster in the dark with a little spooky accent story. >> Well Well, Link, we we were talking a little bit earlier about Nancy a little bit. >> Mhm. >> And I’m not going to get into it a whole lot, but we had another little episode with Nancy this past week. >> Yeah. and >> which I which I do know about >> and her heart rate got kind of low. But anyway, I’m gonna give a holler out to all the nurses all the nurses in Lupe at C Coast Hospital and especially the nurses in the emergency room and the ICU unit that looked after my Nancy and took care of her. A holler out from dispatches from Myrtle Beach at Charles >> Ne Coast. Sea Coast what hospital? >> Se coast mloud sea coast hospital. >> Mloud Sea Coast Hospital. Holler out. >> Yeah. >> Taking care of >> That’s good. Did you do you have a view of the ocean from the hospital room or from the ER? >> Uh, no. It’s about five or six miles guess across the inland waterway on the other side. >> What kind of people coming in and out of there? Uh what kind of injuries are are people in the emergency room there for? You got firework injuries year round in South Carolina. >> What What else are they doing in the emergency room? Maybe farm implement in implement entanglements. >> I I won’t out there long enough to tell. It looked like it was kind of like a normal emergency room. People just coming in. >> Let’s just people >> Well, this was I was drunk that >> I was there during the daytime. I won’t there at night. >> Okay. What about like weird things stuck stuck up their butts? That happens. >> Um >> see anybody sitting funny? >> No, I didn’t see anybody like that in the emergency room either. So, >> okay. Well, if they were if they were standing awkwardly >> and they were open seats, then you know what they’re doing in emergency room. >> Yeah, I guess >> kind of bent over a little bit. It’s kind of like maybe they’re seated but they’re kind of leaning to one side. >> Yeah. You don’t have to ask them because you already know. Oh. Mhm. You put a doorork knob up your butthole. I didn’t see anything like that, but I I really weren’t watching a lot of stuff cuz I was following where they was carrying Nancy from one room to the next. Uh, I have been on ear. >> That’s right. That’s the only reason you know about it. So, Rhett and I have a podcast. I Hey, it’s not our podcast. It’s a different one, >> you know. Oh, yeah. Some some will say it’s worse, some will say it’s better. People have all types of opinions, >> but the truth of the matter is Rhett and I are taking a break from it at the end of the year. And we made the announcement on ear biscuits and we kind of gave all the listeners a heads up. I think many of the people that listen also listen to dispatches >> and one of the things that I said was, “Hey, if you want to hear me talk every week, I got one better than Rhett. I got dad right here. Start watching and listening to dispatches. >> So >> yeah, >> if uh we might have some people coming over and checking it out and we welcome all of you ear biscuiters to become Myrtle Beasts. >> Dad, you might need to tell you might need to give some sort of a welcome and orientation to anybody who’s only listen to ear biscuits. >> Yeah. All you fans of Beer Biscuit with Rhett and Link, if they’re taking a hiatus, you need to come on over and see Charles and Link. >> That’s right. >> On Dispatches from Myrtle Beach and just come on. Some of you might have caught a glimpse of it somewhere now, but come on over and just get a taste of what we’re doing cuz uh >> Mhm. >> uh ours is a little more lighthearted than >> what your biscuits might have been at times. it. Uh, but I I am inviting all of you to come on over and uh help me out and keep letting uh Dispatch of Myrtle Beach grow and just uh come on over and after the first of the year uh we’ll be doing some new stuff and >> That’s right. and talking about and then uh may hey blink maybe you can get hey just the inside thing maybe the maybe the people that sponsor a sponsor your ear biscuits thing you can get them to sponsor move right on over to >> maybe we’ll see what we can do dad >> yeah tell them tell them I’ll be glad to meet with them >> dad will meet with you >> that’s not typically require, but he will do that. >> Yeah, >> he will do that. Yeah. So, in the new year when Ear Biscuits is not happening >> for an indefinite hiatus, come on back over to Dispatches from Myrtle Beach every week. >> It’s going to be happening. >> It’s going to be happening. >> And if there’s something that goes on in my life that I need to tell you about, Dad, then they can they can benefit from hearing it as well. So, >> that’s right. >> There you go. >> Yeah. >> And, you know, we all we like to play together in all types of ways. you know, we we kept it under wraps. We did tease it a little bit, but when you came out for um you flew out here and you taped a little bit for I’ll call it the halftime show of Good Mythical Evening. >> Yep. >> Which now, have you seen your contribution to it, Dad? Because >> No, I didn’t. >> We should watch it now. >> Okay. So, it has come out. >> Yeah. Good mythical Evening was a, you know, live event. Uh, it’s, you know, uh, Good Mythical Morning always stays within within PG-13 range basically. But Good Mythical Evening goes Rrated because it’s it’s at night and it’s live and anything can happen like going into outer space and trying to save the world from an impending asteroid impact. >> Yeah. So, at the at the midpoint so that we can have a breather and a bathroom break, we cut to this um this little film within the middle of Good Mythical Evening. And let’s watch let’s not watch all of it because what I don’t want to spoil everything, but I will say Myrtle Beasts, if you want to watch all of Good Mythical Evening, you can watch it on demand at good mythicaling.com now through November 9th. it will be available and then it goes away. So, while you can get it, get yourself a little uh get a video on demand download. But this is dad, this is the middle piece. I’m very I’m very happy with um your contribution. This is again we’re trying to save the world from an impending a asteroid and we’re flying around in this spaceship and we um we hear a a distress call that we follow to a particular planet. Is that big enough dad? Yeah. >> Look, it’s some sort of cave thing. >> Uh, yeah, a cave. >> Hello. So, we landed. Anybody here? We saw your beacon. >> Help. Who goes there? Identify yourselves or I’ll blast your dumbing faces off. >> How does he know we have a dumb face? >> There’s no reason to fear us. We come in peace. Look bear. >> Wait a second. I know you. You’re those boys from YouTube. >> What? >> Kylo Ren. >> YouTube? I’m a big fan. >> Look at here. I’ve been stuck on this planet for years and the elements have not been kind. >> How do you mean? >> I’m only 30 years old. Look at my face. >> Looks older than that. I was sent into space on a top secret mission and the ship exploded and there was blood and feces and wires going everywhere and there was only two of us that survived. >> What happened to the other survivor? >> Oh, she’s still here. And by golly, we have become lovers. >> There she is. >> Oh, okay. [Music] Hey baby. Hey Britney. I love you. Huh? We know of Britney too. >> Anyways, we are plum tickled that somebody has come to rescue us. And we are plum tickled. >> Rescue you? Sorry old man, but we are on >> He’s only 30. >> Sorry young man, but we are on a mission to save our planet. Yeah, there’s a huge asteroid headed straight for Earth and we are the only ones who can destroy it. >> That’s the missing zone. You boys don’t know what you’re with. It ain’t a asteroid. It’s a hemorrhoid. >> Hemorrhoid. >> And there’s only one way to destroy a hemorrhoid that big and nasty. >> Cream. >> Alas, you need the right delivery mechanism for all that kester cream. What would that even look like? >> Well, it need to be about 5 ft long with plenty of holes in it and curvy in the right places. But they ain’t nothing like that up here. [Music] Oh my goodness. So, Dad, >> what did you think of your performance? First time I seen it, I I thought it went pretty well. >> You did awesome, dude. >> Because And of course, we cut it short and in the next scene, we try to take your Britney with us in order to destroy the >> It’s not an asteroid, it’s a what? >> Hemorrhoid. >> Hemorrhoid. Hemorrhoid. >> How many syllables are in hemorrhoid? There’s an extra one. Hemorrhoid. >> And we get into um a standoff. >> Yep. >> And so you I mean you got >> you you can describe what happens because >> Well, I I think they they’ve got a glimpse of everything that’s going on and they need to uh tune in and watch. >> That’s a good promo. But what I mean, if you want to give him a teaser, what happens? You there’s a there’s a standoff between you and who? >> Do you remember? >> Uh, you and uh you and Rhett. >> No, no, no. You and Rhett. >> Oh, yeah. Me and Rhett. Yes. >> Don’t you remember when you’re you you have you both have your uh laser guns >> and then you you touch tips? >> Yeah. But then you you come in with the rock and >> Oh, and don’t tell them. >> Yeah. That’s what I mean. >> And do you die or not? >> Uh, >> don’t tell them. >> I’m not going to tell them. No. >> You don’t even know. Do you know if you die or not? >> I don’t know. >> It might have seemed like it, but I don’t know for sure. >> If you did die, I would say that’s two years in a row. Two years in a row. Yeah. >> Now, there were some lines that you had difficulty with when we were recording. Um, would you or would you disagree? >> No, I would agree. >> Yeah. >> But when you saw it all edited, how did you feel about it? >> Y’all did a great job fixing it. >> All you got to do is get it get it get it right once. >> I I got it. I I finally got it right one time. So, uh, that you you kind of laughed and said, “See, there you got it.” >> Yeah. And we It was pretty great. Yeah. So, the part that we’re not showing is uh it’s it it it gets even funnier and action-packed. So, goodleading.com. Dad, I’m super I’m super proud of you. You can put that in your reel, in your acting reel. >> Oh, okay. >> Do you have one of those? >> No. know you ain’t helped me get one yet. >> I don’t want to help you get one cuz I don’t want you to start starring in other people’s movies. I just want you to be in my movies. >> Okay. Well, I mean, you just do that once a year. I mean, I believe u I can handle it, you know, another time or two somewhere else during the year. >> When you Okay, I’ll think about it. when you said okay that >> the um there was a an explosion and there were there was blood and feces and wires everywhere. I think you made up feces and wires. I think that was an adlib. >> Uh >> I don’t think we told you to say that. That was good. >> Okay. >> You’re an improv actor. >> Yeah. Yeah. I can, you know, uh, embellish and keep things going and make it >> where it’s a lot better. So, >> yeah, you improved upon upon the script as as it was written. >> Don’t have to throw the writers under the bus or anything, but >> No, I ain’t. No, no, >> and you were plum tickled. I think that was also something you came up with. >> Yeah. Yeah, that was just something I say once in a while. Yeah, I was plum tickled. that y’all come to save us. >> And we are plum tickled. >> You said it twice, >> which I thought made it better. >> Yeah, >> we are plum tickled that y’all came to save us. And we are plum tickled. >> Yeah, it was good. It was good. It was uh that’s a new bar for you, Dad. So, every year we got to beat that. Yeah, cuz I think last year all I really did was got kind of laid down, said a few things, and just got slimed with a bunch of stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. This year that happened, but you said more. >> You had you had to act more. >> Yeah. >> And use a laser gun. >> Yep. If you could call it acting. Yeah. Well, I thought it looked pretty good to me. >> Yeah. You look good. You look good. Look like right out of Star Wars. >> Yeah. maybe have a future in it. >> It’s time for another edition of I’ll help you get out of the woods. I got a email from Debbie and Debbie wants me to help her get her out of the woods again. >> Okay, she’s back in the woods. >> Help. Help. Well, no. I think that was somebody else, but it says, “Hey, Charles, I’m wondering if you can help me get out of the woods. My daughter Megan, who is 10, loves owls. She recently saw a billboard for Hooters while we were driving and love the aisle. And now she wants to be a Hooters’s girl for Halloween. Help. Since it’s so close to Halloween, I bought her a cute owl costume that she doesn’t know about. Can you please help me explain to her why she can’t dress up as a Hooters girl and give her the idea of this cute aisle for her costume? >> Okay. So, Megan Megan is 10. >> Can you Megan’s 10 >> speak directly to Megan? >> Yeah. Well, Megan just coming from a man that’s had a daughter that’s 10. And I know that uh you young girls grow up a lot sooner than you think you do. And you when you’re 10, you think you’re 16 or 20. And you don’t need to rush being 16 or 20 because you’re 10. And it’s Halloween. Halloween’s a fun time. And um Megan, you need to enjoy being 10 and help your mama out a little bit and not let her get so stressed out about you her you wanting to be a Hooters’s girl and let that happen when you can uh do something for Halloween. uh when you go out like me and Nancy do when you’re older and wear a costume and go out and do things with it and you can dress up every year if you want to and be a Hooters’s girl, but while you’re 10 right now, help your mother out and she’s probably got you a wonderful costume and it’s probably got something to do with the aisle >> maybe. And maybe, but you know, just give her a break this time cuz I know you love your mother and it would make her really a lot more easy if you go out and be something different uh than a Hooters girl, you know. >> Dad, can you explain what the eyes in the Hooters logo represent to Megan? Uh, I don’t have no idea. You’d have to do that. >> Well, >> I don’t >> They’re not I’ll put it to you this way. They’re not Those aren’t eyes. >> Oh, >> they’re in specific spots on the shirt. >> Oh, on Oh. Oh, yeah. They’re uh they’re on the front of the breast where the nipples are at. You need to talk to Megan about this. >> Well, Megan, you you don’t I’ve already told you, you don’t need to be worrying about being a Hooters’s girl right now. Uh just wait till you’re older and you grow on up and >> because Tell her those aren’t eyes. Those are something else. >> That they’re eyes. They’re They’re not eyes. They’re something else. I And that I don’t know what they are. I don’t think I’ve ever been to Hooters, but one time in 73 years, and it’s been a long time ago, so >> if you’ve seen them once, you you remember them. >> I don’t remember them. >> If they’re not eyes, what are they? >> I guess they’re nipples. >> Mhm. Boobies. >> Boobs. Yeah, >> boobies. boobs with nipples on them. But >> Yep. The best kind. >> Yeah, I’m telling you. Yeah. >> So, don’t >> But >> so you’re saying Megan can be a Hooters girl starting at what age? >> It’s according to how she develops, you know, maybe between 16 and 21. Let’s say 18. >> Let’s say >> 18. 18. Okay. 18 and 21. >> I think I I don’t think you can work at Hooters if you’re under 18. >> Well, >> maybe under 21.
