are you ready for another near-death experience story from rhettandlink yes let’s talk about that good morning to you Lincoln it is Friday February 25th 2011 Linc welcome back you’re alive yes thank you you’re not gonna vomit on me if you vomit vomit in this pocket or that pocket or both right at the same time which I might vomit for because that’s why you were out yesterday your least test a cover story your whole famine was throwing up all over each other yeah I think all the hazmat people out I just told you that so I could lay out of work for a day oh okay that wasn’t nice I hurt my neck while you were gone working alone I have to do Batman neck and turn if you like this do you have a grappling hook or some sort of utility but I do have that’ll even it out I just have a leather belt just sounds like a normal belt that that doesn’t overcome the way that you’re you’re turning but you’re back I’m back yet I mean the family’s on the road to recovery thanks for your comments of encouragement yeah I mean one kid starts vomiting and then up look now the moms vomiting and look now the other kids vomiting I think I’m gonna get a big bowl of ice cream it’s like yawning but where does the ice cream come into play well my stomach felt uneasy but I thought that eating ice cream would like coat it and soothe it and make me feel better but it it was kind of cruel because they were real sick and I was like eating ice cream it was like oh but uh at least I didn’t want anything it makes no sense at all I know it made me feel better well good I’m glad you feel better now let’s get back to the business at hand well first of all last episode of good morning G link in the finale episode is Monday not this episode but Monday because we didn’t give you an episode yesterday make sure today another heart warming near-death experience totally true story but first disclaimer everything we say that we did in a story is true but you should not do it okay do as we say not as we do and what we’re saying is don’t do what we did people could have gotten killed easily some people almost did that’s not kidding we’re not getting about that but that being said let’s you know let’s reminisce tell it that the son is really dancing out there I think it adds to the drama it’s like worth it’s like we’re by a campfire telling you this story but it’s a very slowly burning campfire that looks like the Sun okay so we told the Fond Omega story of when you turn 16 and got your license and you know how you treated your vehicle the next June I got my license and I got my 1987 Nissan pickup the one that in college hit a tree head-on and I told you about that in another episode you learned so much about us got my truck in June okay so now this story takes place in October October 31 Halloween night all of our friends get together at Chris Gardner’s house I remember it and we’re like well what what what should we do what we’re too old to go trick-or-treating and then somebody was like we should egg houses it was Jason Keenan yeah let’s blame it on him at least miss Jason Kenan’s fought well he was after all from Angier you know which is where all the people who have naughty ideas comes right we were from Buies Creek you know goody two-shoes that’s what we were but so we were just along for the ride of course I was driving and I said okay uh this sounds like fun listen you know we got a bunch of cartons of eggs and we said okay I’ll Drive my truck and a lot of people can get in the back you and Heather Wilson both got in the front of the truck because that’s what we thought a pickup was for we in North Carolina growing up we didn’t think a pickup was for like construction equipment or like tools it was for people to get in the back and drive around in especially which is a horrible idea launching eggs so three people in the front Rhett Heather me driving and then in the back eight people eight more people and then I including my girlfriend at a time amber also all the people who were yeah that was very very chivalrous of you Rhett forever you get in the back I mean it was you know I mean it was we were like two weeks into the relationship okay okay and Heather was just yet she hadn’t earned the front seat position yet heather was a better friend and I scene remember there was a whole group of other people who got in Michael jubie’s car but Michael gob he was he was a smart cat I think they just ended up like going to the movies mmm-hmm yeah if only I’d gotten in his car they stayed out of trouble okay so we get the cartons of eggs eight people in the back three in the front we drive to some nail Eber Neal’s Creek Farms that were there all the rich folks in it that’s right cuz if we were life you’re gonna egg somebody don’t egg to poor people egg to rich folks it’s like Robin Hood you know you accept Plus egg if he was an egg er and like a malicious spirit yes yeah okay so we we go we’re driving through the neighborhood and I would you know I doused the lights and then we that’s what you say like back in the 50s they didn’t say turn the lights off they just said douse the lights 2011 and then we would I’d stop people would hop out of the truck and go egg the house and then run get back in the truck and zoom we’d go down a little bit further to where that house couldn’t see us anymore could you had to get out of there in a hurry I mean you know you do the egging and then you get back in the car and you move on because you’re gonna come outside and write what just holy is there like as a bird having a bad day it’s all flock of birds having a bad day or is that was I just egged so you know this is the pattern throw the eggs get back in the truck zoom get do it again do it again so we’re we’re nearing the end of the neighborhood and we don’t really know it because we’re not familiar with the neighborhood yes the Venice but you know it’s like okay we hit the last house they get back in the car I never left the truck so and did I mention it’s rainy and dark yeah it’s nighttime and it rained so they get back in this last time in June okay we’re going we’re going we’re going and all of a sudden I’m like did I just run through a stop sign and I’m in the passenger seat so I actually had the best view of the stop sign and I remember that as we’re exiting out of the neighborhood we it was very dark and it was one of those neighborhoods where there’s no lines on the road it’s just this it was dark and it had been raining and it was just a black road you couldn’t see anything everything kind of blended together but then there was this huge right octagonal red stop sign I didn’t see it and I was like that is not good so what I realized it and I immediately slammed on brakes and I turned the wheel because I knew I needed to turn right but then it didn’t turn at all the brakes lock topped up the truck didn’t turn it off thank goodness the truck didn’t turn it all because then we would have rolled you know sure I’m glad that didn’t happen so we’re going straight and I know there’s not I know it another Road well enough to know that the road doesn’t continue to go straight it’s a t so I had to a turn right but I’m going to Shh going straight sliding through the intersection no cars are coming thank goodness then I realize okay this is going to be okay it’s a field so you know we’re going into the field it looks nice and cushy I remember the same thing the same thing I was like oh everything’s gonna be okay we’re gonna go right into this cornfield that had been plowed up he was that time of year so it was just a dirt field I was like we’re gonna rolled nicely into this nice little field everybody’s gonna be ok what we didn’t see was the huge ditch in between the end of the road and the beginning of the field his thing was at least eight feet deep but I felt it BAM it was like the whole front of the truck just went boom down into it boom boom it was like it was being pile dry boom and then it boom popped out popped up did I mention boom yeah you did a few times popped out on the other side lands in the field and well and kind of rolls to a stop but tell him about the boom well what happened to the boom now again there’s all kinds of things that we did in this story that you should never do like for instance when I got back into the cab of the truck I didn’t put my seat belt on because we’re we’re trying to get out of there so all I remember is that it didn’t register in my mind what had happened when the boom happened but it registered as soon as we hit the field it my head just broke the entire windshield it was like you know it’s like heading a soccer ball I think it’s what happened I was sitting there and I had no time to react with my hands or anything when we hit the ditch my head went up and right there right on the top of my forehead boom I busted the glass in the entire windshield shattered and I came back down and was just sitting in the same exact place no blood no blood and and all of a sudden we stop and I look up and I see the windshield and I go ha ha ha ha I start laughing and one of those like I think I’m in shock kind of laughs but as soon as I realized that I’m okay I started thinking there were eight people in the back of the truck and they have all just died and I’m thinking the same thing I’m petrified so I get out of the truck and as I’m getting out I look and there’s four people over here in the field and there’s four people over here in the field they have been thrown out and they’re all dead and all I remember was my girlfriend at the time was I dating her at the time they were not all dead first of all they were walking around I was like okay you just said they were all dead that’s horrible I was joking that was a bad joke yeah they were walking around they were all alive all I remember was it was dark and you couldn’t really see anything and I just remember amber standing over there and she said I’m bleeding I’m bleeding and it was like everybody been glistening all over a forehead and it just she looks like she’s just bleeding ball from over a whole face we all run over there and Chris Gardner says it’s egg roll egg I just gave myself salmonella poisoning so I’m like I’m like everybody get back in the truck we have to get out of here before we get caught and everybody’s like I’m not getting back in your truck hit there I’m not I’m not your friend anymore we’re telling everybody to get back in the truck so we can push it out of the field but they’re all totally traumatized and we thinks that she’s just busted her head open but it’s really just egg and so they’re like we got to call the police and we’re not you can’t call the police because then we’ll get in trouble for everything that we’ve done tonight to end this story we pushed the truck out of the field it would not drive the axle was so messed up it was leaving rubber tire marks on the street as we pushed it back to the last house we egged because it was the preacher’s house we thought he would give us Grannis reverse or forgive us or say grants mercy it says like so we go there the cops show up our parents show up thank goodness no one was injured except for Don Warren yeah Don Warren I know Don was sitting in the back right next to the the back glass every window and the entire thing was broken at the end of this thing by the way Don’s side of Don’s face broke the back window and he still has a scar to this day he lives up in Peck’s and he has a scar right here on his face from that terrible thing that you did to him and he still hates me he should sue you for that no see we’re friends what a traumatic stupid experience we were lucky that we got out unscathed and that Don just got a little scar don’t do that kind of thing it does not even worth the story that you’ll be able to tell later in life let’s check in with chinking yep mm-hmm all right we’ll send him off some glorious
