GMM 1044: Testing Weird Beard Products

When it comes to the beards, some products get weird. Let’s talk about that. ♪(intro music)♪ Good Mythical Morning. My beard is a part of me. When I had to part with my beard recently, I felt like a part of me was washed down the drain. Had departed. But it wasn’t washed down the drain, it was put into a plastic bag that I keep in my office. I need to do something with that at some point. But slowly, my beard grew back, and, with it, came me. Rhett was back. I care about this beard. I spend a lot of time on this beard. I invest money into products that will help me make this beard what it needs to be, so I can be the best me that I can be. Yeah, all this amounts to a sad testimonial, while I spend every day trying to keep my beard from blossoming. – But– – Different problem. Whether you’re in one situation or the other, today, we’ve got news for you. It’s time for, – ♪(dreamy music)♪ – (Link) Weird products you must have (Link) Beard edition. (Link) First up, the MoGuard, it protects a man’s mustache (Link) from beer foam, and other liquids that cause drippy lips. Oh, wow! Here it is. It’s kind of floppy, it’s rubber-ized (Link) It’s in the shape of a mustache. But then, oh! You’re going to test it out? (Rhett) I have a green smoothie, ’cause I’m thinking about what goes into my body these days. And you have a mustache atop your beard, so you’re the one to test this. – So, you– – You flip it. (Rhett) So that it reads MoGuard towards you. Now, would you say that you don’t like having all the stuff on your– Yeah, I mean, especially now that the beard is a little bit longer, you see how it kind of goes over the top of the lip, so this is a common problem. That’s why I carry a napkin in my– I don’t have a pocket with me, but usually– In your imaginary breast pocket. Alright, so you want to try it with first, and then without. I want to try it. (Link) Now, yours aren’t– Oh! (Link) That worked. Clean? Now take it off and let’s really test this thing. (Link) Eww! Look. You got a little– And then I have to go like this. (makes slurping sounds) Very nasty. I don’t like myself when I do that. I’m glad you’re realizing this. But, you know what? It’s a little bit– I can’t fit this in my pocket, ’cause I don’t always have my pocket. Nine ninety nine. Price is right. It’s really cool, but you got to carry it with you all the time. You know what? I think we can one-up this idea. Introducing, the MoCap. Woah! How did that happen? Magic. A jump-cut. Now, see, I can wear this at any time. All the time, and it’s for America. What is it, though? It’s a MoCap, it’s a swim cap for your mustache. You can drink any liquid. Including, this cottage cheese. I know you know me. (laughs) I know that you know. And how much that I love cottage cheese, the liquid-y kind. But you hate getting it in your mustache. – (crew laughs) – But now you’ve got a swim cap (Link) for the mustache. Look at that. Do I have anything on my mustache at all right now? – An American flag. – (all laugh) – And what’s the problem with that? – I love it. You look great. – Yeah. – I won’t be seeing you in public. This works. (Link) Next up, bacon shaving cream. Shave with a scent that you crave. Because I’ve always thought to myself, when shaving, “Dang, I wish I smelled like bacon right now.” Because you don’t always have bacon for breakfast. This is thirteen ninety nine at Stupid.com. Oh, my favorite website. Let’s crack it open. It smells like I would expect. That, like, fake-y bacon. Fake bacon flavor. And it’s shiny, it’s iri-freaking-descent, y’all. Have you been using it, Link? It’s half gone. (Rhett) Is that all that came in it? – (Rhett) Woah! Hold on. – (Link) It looks like cotton candy. That doesn’t look like something you should put on your face, man. It looks like it’s been under some sort of reaction. Oh. The consistency is so interesting. – It’s like thick lotion. – I think you may have used too much. Work it as a lather, man. Really get it in there thick. (strained voice) Oh, smell. It’s so strong. Eugh! Golly, (Rhett) That doesn’t smell like any bacon that I’ve had. You look good, though. – Oh yeah. – Get it in there. Get it on all the follicles, man. You can’t leave any follicles out of this. It’s got a refreshing feel. But, you know, there’s only one way to truly test the bacon shaving cream. – Shave. – No. That’s to see if it BLTFs. Bacon, lettuce, and tomato face. Face me. Oh. Face me. Oh, that’s cold! I got to hold that one. Okay. Why am I cooperating? (Rhett) Alright, now come in here. I gotta really just– Oh! (Rhett) Really just– Work. – (strained sounds) I think you got hair too. – (Link) I think you did shave my face. – (crew laughs) No you don’t. How is it? (coughs) (Link and crew laugh) Oh, man! You’re seizing. Not intended for consumption. (Rhett) Next up, the beard bib. The bib that catches your beard (Rhett) as it falls off of your face. Okay, we are asking Eddie to come on out, and demonstrate the beard bib for us. So, Eddie? – Yes. – Welcome. Look at that. And usually it’s suction cupped to the mirror, but we, as we do with many things here, we’ve added dowel rods. (laughs) Yeah, we’ve got a lot of dowel rods to go around. I think this should become your signature. Look that way. You kind of look like a guy whose– A super hero whose cape is blowing in the wind. – (Rhett) And wears it backwards. – But I fly this way. Yeah. Fly backwards. Now, I got to say, as a man with a beard. this is something that I could use, because I do get beard hair all over the sink, and surrounding area. My wife doesn’t like that. Wives do not like that. Now, we’re going to demonstrate on you, but I do want to take a monent to just recognize the fact that you’ve grown a healthy beard. – Thank you. – (Rhett) I mean, it’s something to be very happy about. But now it’s going to die. Thank you for sacrificing it for the sake of beard cape science. Let’s make quick work of this. – And see if it catches it, effectively. – Are you okay? Do you want to say anything to it? Before it goes. I’ll see you again later. (Rhett and crew laugh) That’s good enough for me. Yeah, down here. Look up. ♪(bouncy music)♪ Okay, you ready to lose the stache? – (Link) Stache looks pretty– – (crew laughs) That’s a good look for you, man. – I don’t think so. – Okay. Coming off. ♪(bouncy music)♪ Alright, that was weird for everybody. – You look great, Eddie. – Thank you. Wow! You look so young and vibrant. Your face is, like, you’re still the same person. That’s the difference between you and me. When I shave, I’m not the same person. You still look like Eddie. Eddie’s just– His beard’s gone. I don’t know if you can tell, but, like– There’s a lot of beard there. This thing pretty much does its job. I would say it’s worth the thirty dollars, or how much we paid for this thing. I didn’t get any hair on me. There’s no hair on you. There’s hair on me. – Really? No there’s not. – Okay. – It totally worked as advertised. – Worked pretty well. But here’s the thing, you gather all this hair, pretty effortlessly, but if you just throw this away, you’re throwing away – a world of opportunity. – And that’s bad for the environment. Which we are ready to capitalize on with the, patent pending, Build-a-Beard. Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, we invented this. It may just look like a piece of paper, that looks like a cheap Santa beard, but it’s actually two sided tape that looks like a cheap Santa beard. So I’m going to take off one side of this tape. I’m going to expose the sticky. – I’ll pull that off. – (Link) Help me out. And then… Place that, face down. – Spread out. – Let me spread that. Spread that out in a beard fashion. – Golly, Eddie. – Eugh! You should have de-oiled man. I’m sorry. You use some of Rhett’s beard oil? Or… Yeah, it’s great for beards. Yeah, I don’t mind touching my oil. (laughs) In someone else’s beard? Okay. Still my oil. (Rhett) I didn’t do much. You know what? Sprinkle. (laughs) Oh, gosh! This is gonna be good. Just a little pat-down action. (crew laughs) It’s a little bit of a compromising angle there on the main camera. (laughs) (all laugh) We’re gonna figure this out eventually, Eddie. (laughs) And check that out. (all laugh) – It’s perfect. – Then all you gotta do is pull the… Uh oh. You got ripp-age. That’s fine. And, if you have beard regret. (Link) Oh, gosh. You just put it right back on there. (Rhett) Just like that. Could have done this before, you know? We could have just put that on his face, and then I’m just gonna – It looks great. – (Rhett) work your hair back onto the… (Link) Oh, look. (spits) Oh! (Link) There we go! (all laugh) That could have worked, Eddie. – You blew it! – It worked for a second. You get the idea, right? Too much thinking, though, right? But, yeah, so, what you want to do, is you just want to be able to shave on the outside of these things. So make this one wider, to go around the… I’m going to go wider. – You can roll– – Roll it wide at the top. I feel like it’s pretty good in the other dimensions. (Alex laughs) You don’t look anything like Bane. Can you talk like Bane? – (Bane impression) No. – (all laugh) It needs to be a little bit wider. Have you ever had a goatee? No. Alright, you will today. – You’re about to. – (both laugh) Look up. Try to find your– – Happy place. – Hope. So, as far as sideburns, Link, let’s go even with the bottom – of his ear. – The earlobe? – Yeah. – Oh, we’re going low with it. ♪(bouncy music)♪ I think this could be our job, Rhett. You and I could be double-up barbers. (Baseball charge theme) ♪ Double up barbers, double up. ♪ Is it twice the cost? Twice the cost. (laughs) ♪(bouncy music)♪ Okay. (Alex) Oh, man. Now, how do you feel? (laughs) Really good. There’s a whole other world under there, man. – Let’s check it out. – Three, two– I’m nervous. Alright. One. (all laugh) (Link) Looking good! Man, you look like a country singer. (all laugh) Look up, man. Show it off. (Link) Look to the ceiling. – That is awesome. – ♪ To the windows. To the wall. ♪ ♪ To my goatee. ♪ You need to keep this, man. Oh, man! You need to keep this. – I’ve always remembered you this way. – (crew laughs) This is how you see Alex on the inside? Yeah. This is the real Alex. Well, you’ve been revealed. Well, thank you, Alex. Oh, thank you. But, you know, you actually don’t have to limit the Goatee Saver to just the face? Oh, I know. You can put one anywhere. Oh! I’ve done a little work. And you’ve got the golden child under there. Can you guess what I’ve done? (all laugh) I got a pretty good idea. I put a goatee on my chest. (all laugh) (Rhett) It feels like I shouldn’t be looking at it. Oh, man! You should go to the pool like that. You will be immediately asked to leave. (laughs) (all laugh) You know what? I kinda like it. It’s not technically a goatee yet, though. (crew laughs) There it is. Just in case you can’t tell where the mouth is supposed to be. (laughs) It looks like an open wound. (all laugh) There’s an open wound in my chest. That’s why I couldn’t shave right there. I’m sorry, man. I thought that was a good idea. That’s horrifying. They’re definitely not going to let me in the pool now. (shouts) Sir, no! No! – Don’t swim in the pool. – Do not get in the pool. (laughs) It’s oozing. Gosh, it looks horrifying.
