GMM 2051: Best Peanut Chocolate Candy Taste Test

Beware! It’s time for a spooky peanut chocolate candy show down. – Let’s talk about that. (gentle, upbeat music) Good Mythical Morning. – It is our fourth annual Halloween candy tournament. – [Both] Tournament. – You’re saying it like you’re from the Northeast. – This year, it’s going down a little bit differently than it has in the past for the first time ever. We’re bringing you three single day Halloween candy showdowns, each with its own specialized category to get y’all ready for the candy season in a very specialized way. – For today’s mini tournament or tournament, we’re going all in on our favorite type of anything peanut, specifically chocolate peanuts. – We’re gonna determine the very best chocolate candy that involves anything peanut, including peanut flavoring, peanut butter, or just straight up peanuts. It’s time for The Hexed and Haunted Halloween Haul of 2021, chocolate peanut candy edition. – Behold! The bracket of petrifying, painstakingly picked packs and pieces of perfect chocolate peanut-y perfection! – This bracket contains the top eight peanut-y chocolate Halloween candies, as voted on by you. So don’t complain to us. It’s you. 40,445 votes, to be exact. – What? The peanut and chocolate candies we’re gonna be eating today are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. – [Link] Mr. Goodbar, Reese’s Pumpkin’s Peanut Butter Cup. – [Rhett] Butterfinger, Peanut M&M’s. – [Link] Peanut Butter M&Ms. – [Rhett] Snickers. – And Babe Ruth. Now, we have to be upfront about something real quick. – Yeah. – We had plans for the person at the tournament board to be John Wayne Chasey all week long. – Yeah. – But it turns out that we forgot that Chase is gonna be out all week, so we asked some of the crew to step in. So please welcome John Wayne Chasey, who looks different. – Hey. – Okay, Emily, a slightly different take. There’s a cowboy hat, first of all. – Yeah, I think I read the email wrong. Did you guys know that that Western actor has the same name as a very bad man clown? – Yeah, John Wayne. That Western actor, yeah. – Yeah, yeah, yeah. They have the same name. It’s crazy. – But you know what? You look great and just just don’t smile and that’ll- – Oh, okay. You want me to try to do some cowboy clown puns? – Yeah, do that. – Okay, I’ll do my best. (laughing) – Oh, later. Okay, we’ll wait. – [Emily] I gotta think of some. – I’ll be thinking of them in the meantime. – In each round, the losing candy from each pairing is gonna be doomed into the cauldron of witch’s spew. Spew? – Spew. – The witch’s spew in here and it spews out. – And in the end, the best choco-peanuty-iest candy of all time will be crowned the most handy peanut chocolate Halloween candy. – Let’s get chocolate nuts, y’all. (gentle eerie music) – Okay, we’re starting the first round of today’s tournament with the winner of 2019’s best Halloween candy ever and number one seed, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, with 23,694 votes versus the number eight seed, Mr. Goodbar, with 3,626 votes. – All right, let’s get into it. – I mean, this can’t. – Start with the overall winner from 2019. – Now, would you believe me- – Standing strong. – If I told you that this is not the most popular candy in America? This is the third most popular candy in America. – I’d be shocked. Based on the comments, people don’t like it when we love peanut butter, so. – Well, number two is actually just Hershey, like a Hershey bar. – Kind of vanilla, but chocolate. – And number one is M&M’s. – I’m not going to taste it more than once, even though I’m tempted to. – Now, I’m happy when I was to get Mr. Goodbar in my little bag because I still do that. – I like the shiny edge. – Well, it looks like it’s gonna be wrapped and then foiled, but it’s all just one thing. It’s deceptive. They don’t even fit Mr. Goodbar on the packaging. Do you see that? There’s not a lot of care taking in this. – That says Mr. Goodbar on the back. The back. – [Rhett] The back? (mumbling) – The back. Now, this is very nutritious. Back during the Depression, Mr. Goodbar was marketed as a tasty lunch. – Oh, I occasionally have it as just a lunch of Mr. Goodbars. I can’t justify that, man, and there’s no way it can beat the cup. – No, we just wanted to talk about it a little bit, but it’s clear that Reese’s Peanut butter cup is moving on. That means you gotta put the tasty lunch in the witch’s spew! – Boom! I missed. Boom. – There’s more chances. – [Link] I missed. – [Rhett] There you go. – It’s in there. (witchy screaming) (Link chuckling) (gentle eerie music) Now, we got the number four seed, Butterfinger, with 14,547 votes, versus the five seed with 13,283 votes. Pretty close. Reese’s Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cup. A lot of people think they might be pumpkin flavor. They’re not and they’re also not pumpkin shaped, really, when you get down to it. I mean, technically yes. There are some wide pumpkins like this. – But the packaging has this protective sleeve to keep it from, I guess, doing what it did anyway, which is kind of crack. Look at that one. – Oh, man. – But it doesn’t taste like a pumpkin, man! I’m so disappointed. I never thought that would happen. Have yourself a Butterfinger. Been around since 1920. These things do not play and they get crunchy because there is corn flakes in there. – I did not know that. – We’ve been eating these for years. I didn’t know about the cornflake crunching. – You’ve been complaining about how much you don’t like them for years, if I recall. – [Link] Yeah. – I’ve been saying how much I do like them. – It’s a great taste, but you gotta be honest and this is not the first time I pointed this out. What am I gonna say? – It’s not as good as regular peanut butter? – Well, that’s true. I guess I’ve said a lot of things. – You’ve never seen an episode of The Simpsons. – That’s true, too, in this entirety, but you gotta clean it out of your teeth, man. – And every time you clean, you taste again. This is not a negative thing. I’m a huge Butterfinger fan, but I gotta say, side by side with the wonderful chocolate peanut buttery goodness of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that’s in the shape of a pumpkin, even a Butterfinger man like me is gonna have to say that you gotta put those into the witch’s brew or whatever it’s called because we are moving on. Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins. – Great, do my job for me. John Wayne Chasey, do your job. – Yee-haw, there’s a snake in my crawl space. – Oh. (chuckling) That’s where he put the bodies. – And now, we’re gonna go Butterfinger go bye-bye. (gentle, eerie music) – In a week all about treats, we would be remiss if we didn’t invite you to experience our favorite internet cooking show, so please check out the Mythical Kitchen channel. You can laugh and learn with Josh, Nicole, Trevor, and Vi. Very proud of the work they’re doing over there. Check them out. – Yes, now up next, it’s the M&M’s face off! We’ve got the number three seed with 16,675 votes, Peanut M&M’s, versus the number six seed with 12,980 votes, Peanut Butter M&M’s. – So if you smashed these hard enough. – I think you turned them into peanut butter in your mouth. – There’s a green one. There was a brown one. There was a brown one. There was a brown one. There’s no yellow one in this, originally voiced by John Goodman. – And then voiced by JK Simmons and sources have it. (Rhett chuckling) – Yeah? – That he still does. – Oh, crap. We saw him in a mall food court one time. – Yeah, we did. – That’s not bad for- – Been around since 1954. – An M&M. – M&M. That’s not bad for an M&M. – The Peanut Butter M&M’s have been around since 1991, so they’re new kids on the block. – And less votes. Not as popular amongst the Mythical Beasts. Totally different shape. – Now, is this not a Reese’s pieces? Which is not on our bracket. – It is not and you know why? Have you ever had a Reese’s pieces? – Yeah, but I don’t- – A Reese’s pieces is all peanut butter inside. No chocolate. This has more chocolate. – You still got all that chocolate. – I love those. – I do, too. Let’s do it. – No, I gotta say something about these. My favorite part- – You’re gonna do my work for me? – Of the M&M, the peanut M&M, is that you can M&M. – M&M. – Is that you bite it and you take the shell off and then you’ve got a singular peanut that you can experiment with inside your mouth. Like this half bite. – Oh, look at that. – It pops out. You chew that around. You end up making peanut butter, anyway, in your mouth. It’s like your mouth becomes a factory of happiness. I’m going with the mainstay. I’m a peanut, not butter, but peanut M&M man, when it comes down to these two. – And I’m not. I’m not moving off of peanut butter. – Well, my friend, we’ve come to a stalemate and you know what that means. – We need a tie breaker, which I’m cool with that. – This is a very special tie breaker because there is a Mythical Beast on TikTok who’s been trying and reviewing different types of water for over a year and over 200 days straight, in hopes of getting our attention and being on the show. – Yeah, you may have seen his comments under every single TikTok that we’ve posted. – Yes, his name is Jack T. and here’s one of his water reviews. – Today, I’ve got a nice cold glass of water, dedicated to Rhett and Link yet again. Cheers. (gentle music) I hope you guys are staying hydrated. This water’s a 6.6. – (laughing) There you go. It’s 6.6. – All right, well, all of his hard work has paid off. Please welcome our tie breaker, Jack T. (applauding in background) – [Jack] How’s it going, guys? – All right, Jack, you’re in Canada, so you’re not here with us physically. – I’m not, no. – [Link] But you can still break a tie. – But do you have water with you? – Of course I do. – (laughing) Of course you do. Now, this is not water. These are M&M’s and you have these two types of M&M’s in Canada? – Yes, I do. – [Both] All right. – Give them a taste and then let us know which one should move on. – Let’s start with the peanut M&M’s. These are the ones I’m a bit more familiar with. – Yeah, right. – Around since the 50s. – [Rhett] Yeah. – That’s a classic taste. – Classic taste, right. – Since the 50s, yeah. – I like the roasted peanut flavor and the extra kind of crunch with the peanut. – [Both] Yeah. – You’re speaking my language. – Now for the Peanut Butter M&M’s. – Brace yourself for more flavor than what you’re used to with water. (Rhett laughing) – It’s a little bit more one dimensional for me, though. It reminds me, honestly, of peanut butter spread on some toast. It’s like a breakfast M&M. – Oh. – So honestly, I’m gonna have to go with the Peanut M&M’s. – Okay, you’re going with the people and me. – All right, we respect that. We respect that, Jack T. Thanks for your water review. Take another sip and yeah, you’re off the hook. You can continue, but you don’t have to. – You gotta figure out something else to do on TikTok now. – After this. – Okay? – I don’t know what I’m gonna do now, but. (Rhett laughing) Thank you guys very much. – It was quite a run. man. It was a honor to have you, even though I fully disagree and look at that. Great work. – Let’s put those peanut butter M&M’s in the witch’s spew. – I’m losing every time. At least my side is. – Nothing against you. (witchy laughing) There’s somebody getting ready to hock something up. (gentle eerie music) – Our next contenders include the number two seed with 16,678 votes. Snickers over here versus the seven seed with 4,066 votes, the classic Baby Ruth. When Baby Ruth came on the scene, Rhett, it cost half as much as all the other bars to really get a leg up. It was a deal. It was a steal. It’s got peanuts. – In 1921? – Yes. I always find it fascinating that the peanuts inside of a Baby Ruth are so intact. – [Rhett] They have some sort of a chocolate phobic surface. I’m not a fan. However, Snickers, I am a fan. – I’m a fan. – Apparently, you are, as well, as the number two seed. Did you know that Snickers was named after the favorite Mars family horse? – No. – So, you know you think about naming a horse Snickers? – That’s a good idea. – You mean naming a horse after- – I’m gonna have to talk to you. You know how lots of horses are named Snickers, like those of you who’ve written horses and you’ve done like day rides and stuff? – [Link] I love horses. – There’s always a horse named Snickers. – And they’re named after a candy bar. – They’re not named after the candy bar. Apparently, Snickers was a horse named first and now it’s been reversed and now people named their horses Snickers because somebody named their horse Snickers and then came out with a really popular candy bar called Snickers. – The nougat. (chuckling) It’s enough on its own. Baby Ruth is not greater than the sum of its parts. Every part wants you get all the attention. Snickers is like, we’re team players. – Yeah, this is no contest. So that means Snickers easily moving on and- – [Link] Do it, John Wayne Chasey. – All right. – Are you watching this show from over here? – Hang on. It was Snickers, right? (Rhett laughing) – It is confusing. – It is. – [Rhett] Right, well, she has a lot of clown makeup on. – Do you have a horse? – I do. If you lead a horse to water- – [Rhett] You can name it Snickers. – Will it float to Georgie? – Oh, that’s worse. – Really, really trying with these. – [Link] Yeah. – I like that one. – [Emily] Thank you. – Hey, you get to, yeah. You get to try again. – Oh! – That almost went into top of the. – Okay, screw it. (Link clapping) (gentle, eerie music) All right, first in these finals match-up is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup versus Reese’s Pumpkin’s Peanut Butter Cup. Okay. – This is gonna be interesting. – Never done this side-by-side. – [Link] I’m gonna open one of these for you now. – Now, there’s obviously a distinct difference here in form. – Look at the difference. One’s a cup and one is a very flattened-looking- – Look how much thicker it is, though. Look at the thickness difference of those two. – Yeah, yeah. It seems like the pumpkin is the equivalent of a cup and a half. – Maybe. – I’m gonna eat the cup first. Dink it. Oh, not now. – Too late. – I really like biting through the edge. – The crust. We can dink this one. – Let’s dink it and sink the pumpkin. So much more peanut butter. – I’ve never had these side-by-side. – [Link] Me, neither. – I have found myself being drawn to the pumpkin and the Christmas trees, but that’s not what’s up for debate today. The ratio is definitely different. Let me just be the first to say, at least of the two of us, I prefer the pumpkin. – I love peanut butter. Is it too much? – I do miss the crust a little bit. – But the smoothness of the chocolate on the outside is kinda nice and it’s festive and it’s a limited time only. – There’s too much chocolate in this. You heard it here. – The pumpkin is gonna win this round, y’all. – We did it! – It’s happening. It has defeated the winner from 2019 overall. – Because we didn’t put these against it. Okay, so there you go. The pumpkins are moving on to for finals! – [Link] Boom. – That means I hate to do it. Reese’s, you’re actually going in the witch’s brew. – Did it. Nailed it. (crow cawing) (gentle, eerie music) Peanut M&M’s versus Snickers. Isn’t this just- – Fun? – A done deal? Here, take that right there. You know what an M&M doesn’t have? – Nougat. – Nougat, baby! We love nougat so much, we made it a central plot point of an episode of Buddy System, season two. – This is not an immediate thing for me, but Snickers has brought something new to the game. It is more than the sum of its parts, which are peanuts, milk, egg, and soy. May contain tree nuts. Watch out. But yeah, I think we’re sending Snickers on to the finals, which means that the M&M’s are going into the witch’s spew. – [Link] Spew it. (candy bouncing) – Oh! Oh! – Come on. – Did that go in? – Yeah. All right. And I just learned that trees have nuts. – Yeah. (gentle eerie music) – And now the finals. – Oh, crap. – The Reese’s Pumpkin Peanut Butter. They don’t they don’t call them cups. They call them Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins. We’ve been saying that different. You notice that there’s a jack-o-lantern? They’re a little misleading. I haven’t considered this up to this point. – Oh, yeah, it really implies that there’s gonna be two eyes and a mouth. – [Rhett] It makes you think you’re gonna get a jack-o-lantern. – [Link] On this thing. – [Rhett] But you don’t, unless you make that. – That is a demerit, man. This thing right here is just, it’s like, yeah. It’s like popping a pill that makes everything better. – Why would you say that? (crew laughing) – There’s people who’ve built a whole career on that. – Taking pills? (crew laughing) – I’m talking about pharmacists. – Oh, oh, okay, yeah. – Come on, cowpokes. Why so serious? (Rhett laughing) – Yeah, I didn’t know how we got here. – You’ve made that very unappetizing to me, but I’m still a pumpkin man. I’ll be a pumpkin man until the day I die. I’m like Cinderella. – Snickers are the best candy bar ever, but when it comes to Halloween candies and it’s Halloween, man. We can’t forget that. – Don’t forget that. – Don’t be afraid to go full theme. Reese’s, it’s blazing a trail and they’re winning! So Snickers, you’re going in the crappy cauldron. Bring it down. Bam! One shot Sally. (groaning in background) – That’s somebody that got some nougat went down the wrong pipe. – Yeah, it was. – And you know what? That means that the Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkin is most handy peanut chocolate Halloween candy of them all! – Tell them. – Put them in the hand. – Yes! – Oh. – And we got more tournaments tomorrow, y’all. – Thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. – You know what time it is. – Hi, I’m Janelle and we’re from Winnipeg, Manitoba. It’s my birthday and we’ve just decided that Oh Henry! has won the Halloween treat showdown tournament and it’s time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. – That was a play on us for saying tournament. – Yeah, we can’t say right. – Sometimes, we get it wrong. Oh Henry!, really? Okay. Click the top link to watch us decide which cute thing is more creepy in Good Mythical More. – And to find out where the Wheel of Mythicality is gonna land. (yelling in background) – It’s fine, I have a splatter guard. Is this the top or the bottom? (laughing in background) That needs a little more time. Sadly, this is all going according to plan.
