GMM 2231: We Tried EVERY Gatorade Flavor

Is your favorite flavor of Gatorade the best flavor of Gatorade? – Let’s talk about that. (light cheerful music) – “Good Mythical Summer” finale. – That’s right, the sun is finally setting on what’s been one hell of a summer, y’all. – Yeah, yeah. – And that means we’re gonna be taking a brief one-week break to get rid of these fabulous summer tans, and then we’ll be back on September 12th with a brand new season of “Good Mythical Morning,” with new episodes dropping every Monday through Friday, five times a week. – Five episodes a week? – Five. – That’s unheard of. – And since I played high school basketball, and you kept score for the girl’s team- – Yeah. – I think we’re both very qualified to taste and judge every Gatorade flavor. – Stay hydrated, ladies. It’s time for, Gut Check: Gatorade Edition. Heading into this episode we had no idea that there are over 70 different Gatorade products out there. – Yeah. – That’s including protein shakes, protein powders, energy chews, all types of stuff like that. So, as much as I love staying hydrated you know you can only take so much so we are only tasting Gatorade’s flagship line of bottled beverages that they call, Thirst Quenchers- – Yes. – As well as their low-sugar alternatives. – But that still brings today’s taste test total to a whopping 40 products. – Yeah. – So after trying each drink we’re gonna give it a score on a scale of one to 100, based on our gut reaction, the scores will give us the top four and then we’re gonna try those four one more time to officially decide which drink will be voted, the greater gator. – I was provided with a new visual aid that is sports-themed- – Wow, that’s… – Look at me. – Very slick. – I’m struggling a little bit, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, I like it, I like it, I like it a lot. – Okay. – I get it. – I think you got it. On your mark, get set. (whistle tweeting) – [Stevie] Was that for me? – That was for you, yeah. – Oh, okay, yeah. Gentlemen, if at any time you would like to reset your pallet there is a gator ready to aid you with saltines. – I don’t want one right now. (Stevie laughing) – [Stevie] For our starting lineup we have the original Gatorade Thirst Quenchers and we begin with the very first Gatorade flavor ever, Lemon-Lime. – Hold on I gotta- – Classic. – I got a saltine that a gator gave me. (crew laughing) – Oh yeah, that brings me back to recreation soccer. – Good Lord, it’s good, man. – Ain’t nothing wrong with that, man. – I just love it, it’s so classic- – I mean, crap. – It’s so quenching- – You know, I. – 86. – I’m gonna give it a 95. (laughing) (hands clapping) – Get this started off strong. – Yeah, top that, other Gatorades. – [Stevie] Orange. – Oh, okay, I’m feeling you. – Oh, I got sick when I was a kid, my mama fed me this stuff. – She fed it to you? – Ugh, it’s triggering, man. – It’s definitely not as good as regular. – 20. – It’s not that bad. – Hey man, I got sick, I vomited this stuff again, and again, and again. – 59. – [Stevie] Fruit punch. – Uh-huh, we just called it red. Red’s pretty good. – It’s like Hawaiian Punch. – 79. – Eh, 50. – [Stevie] Cool Blue. – Cool Blue? – Cool Blue? – This is not Glacier though? It’s like a melted icicle. – I like it okay, 72. – I’m gonna give it a 81. – Oh, you’re liking the blue. – Yeah, I like it. – [Stevie] Lemonade. – [Together] Lemonade? (Rhett slurping) – Sorry for that noise. (crew laughing) – I mean- – I typically don’t like to make slurpy noises, I’m on team, not slurp. – I didn’t slur that time. As far as lemonades go it’s kinda weak, 45. – It feels like it needs the lime, you know what I’m saying, 49. – [Stevie] Frost Icy Charger. – Charger? – What is that? – It’s pretty sweet. I like a little taste of that, I don’t know if I could take a whole bottle, it’s 64. – I’m gonna give it a 52. – [Stevie] Frost Glacier Freeze. – Another blue one. It tastes a lot like another one I’ve already had. – Yeah, I’m- – I didn’t know we’d get there so fast. – I’m gonna give that one a 50. – Man, this is tough, 56 (chuckling). – [Stevie] Frost Glacier Cherry. – Frost from a glacier? – Is cherry flavored? Oh, you’re not gonna like that cherry flavored. – Eh, 19. – It’s not great, 31. – Now I do like cherries. – [Stevie] Frost Arctic Blitz. – Oh, so now they’re scraping frost off the Arctic. That’s interesting, yet subtle. – I just feel like I’m getting lost in like a flavor barrage. – [Stevie] Would you like a saltine, sir? – I feel like I might need a saltine, but I’m gonna give that one, 47. – I’ll take, part of one. – [Stevie] Frost Riptide Rush. – Riptide Rush! Bad Kool-Aid flash- – That’s worse than cherry. – Flashback to when my babysitter used to force me to go outside and drink Kool-Aid while she was watching her stories. – She gave you a cup of Kool-Aid and sent you outside? – 39, what a cup of nasty watered-down Kool-Aid. – It’s not good, 17. – [Stevie] Strawberry Kiwi. – Oh, this is interesting. – Um. I got the strawberry, I got the kiwi. – I like this. – It doesn’t seem like a Gatorade at all, 35. I was gonna say it’s pretty good, 74. – [Stevie] Strawberry Watermelon. – Oh, this is scary. – Tastes like a Jolly Rancher. – Yeah, like that Watermelon Jolly Rancher. – Which is not bad, 61. – I’ll be generous and give it a 40. (crew laughing) It’s not great. – Strawberry Lemonade. – The after taste, did you get that? – This is worse than the regular Lemonade. – Hmm, yeah. – When you call something Strawberry Lemonade you have a point of reference for it in like a restaurant, you know what I’m saying? – Right. – And you drink this! – 22. – 29 – [Stevie] Fierce Blue Cherry. – Beer? – Beer, yeah. – [Stevie] Fierce. – Oh. – Oh. – That’s not good. – Man, Gary, he’s trying things. – 38. – Do we not like Gatorade other than the original? 48. – I’ve liked a few I think. – [Stevie] Fierce Grape. – Oh, okay, oh, why is it blue? That has a very, like a new grape. – Yep, it really hits, but I’m thrown off by the fact that it’s not purple, but I do like the flavor. – I mean I give it… – Somewhat. – A 69. – 76. – [Stevie] Fierce Strawberry. – What makes these fierce, should I be scared? – The flavor is not fierce, all the flavors- – It’s just marketing guys. – Every flavor or Gatorade is watered-down, I’m gonna give it a 41. – Straight 50. – [Stevie] Fierce Melon. – Fierce Melon, that’s a horrible name. – Now if it was Fierce Melons. – That’s the most unique flavor so far. – It’s nice, isn’t it? – Is that a cantaloupe, or is it a honey dew, I don’t know, it’s just melons. – I really like it too, I’m a melon man. – Whoa, I mean something about that’s really pleasing, 87. – Yeah, 79. (Rhett laughing) – I think I just ranked that higher than the original, wow. – Wow. – Fierce Green Apple. – Green Apple. – I didn’t know this. – Oh, that looks classic. – Oh, that is… – That’s got some radio activity in it. – I know, neeee. We’re in Jolly Rancher territory. – Man, hold on, they’ve been going to the Jolly Rancher flavor factory. – They just melt ’em down. – It’s the same exact thing. – It’s actually too candyish for me, I don’t feel like an athlete anymore, 59. – Yeah, it feels like you’re cheating, but I like that flavor, I’ll give it a 71. – I need a pallet cleanser. This is, I mean, all of these liquids are really hurting. – I’ve had too many saltines already. – Fierce Fruit Punch. – How fierce can you get? – [Stevie] And Berry. – My tongue is not, the color? – It’s just tongue color. – Hmm, I’m surprised. – It’s not bad, it’s not great, 63. – Hawaiian Punch makes me feel sick when I’m athletizing. – When you’re keeping score? – 35 (Rhett laughing) – [Stevie] Lime Cucumber. – Cucumber? – This is spaish, huh? – Umm, hey, let me say something right now, that is the most authentic cucumber flavor, it’s very strong. – I’m in a spa. – And I love cucumber and I know he hates it, so I’m gonna give it a 100 just to give it a chance to get into the top four. I really like that, that takes me places. 100, my first ever 100 given to Cucumber Lime-flavored Gatorade. (crew laughing) I’m sorry. – It’s too bougie, man. – It’s incredible, how did they get it to taste like cucumber? – What kinda athletes are gonna drink that, like racketball athletes? – Racketball is every man’s sport. – I’m a par 3 champion, I give it an 11. – Oh gosh, you jerk! (crew laughing) Just take note, try that Cucumber Lime. – [Stevie] Now that we’ve capped off the original Thirst Quenchers please enjoy a pallet cleanser, well, do you want a pallet cleanser? – Yeah, I’ll take another. – Okay, let’s go ahead with the pallet cleanser. – I’ll have have some. – [Stevie] And we’re gonna be moving on to Gatorade’s healthier line of Low Sugar Hydrators. – Oh, these are all gonna be better. – They might be because we don’t put a lot of sugar in our bodies anymore these days. – Yeah, we’re athletes. – [Stevie] First up, Gatorade Zero Cool Blue. – Zero Cool Blue, okay. – There’s no cool in this. It’s got, what is that, some sort of sucralose? – Definitely it’s got some fake sweetener in it. – 38. – They’re trying pretty hard, I’ll give ’em a 43. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Orange. – Oh gosh. – And you thought you didn’t like orange, wait until you taste Zero Orange. – Well, I hate Orange, so I should love Zero Orange. – That’s true, give it 100. – Oh god, it’s so bad. – It’s not good. – Nine. – I’m gonna give it 18. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Fruit Punch. – Fruit Punch. – It’s like we’re going down the same path. – 19. – 19. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Lemon-Lime. – Okay, let’s see what happens. – The lemon and the lime actually do a lot of heavy lifting in this. – Yeah, it helps. – I might even go all the way to 60 on this. – Yeah, 57. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Strawberry Kiwi. – I feel like I’ve been benched too long, I gotta get back in the game, this is, eh, 33. – That was really, really bad, 24. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Glacier Cherry. (crew laughing) – Glacier Cherry, eh. – If you like cherry flavor, the cherry flavor cancels out a little bit of the stuff, but it’s still not great, I mean 37. – I’ll give it a nine. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Glacier Freeze. – Glacier Freeze. – All right, just straight up. – Cherries, yeah. They didn’t go to the part of the glacier that has cherries growing out of it, this is the part of the glacier that’s just ice. – That one’s not that bad at all, 61. – 47 – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Lime Cucumber. – Uh-oh, here we go again. – Oh. – Mmm. – I would like a deep-tissue massage. – Accompanied by a side trip to Erewhon. – This one’s better, if you’re gonna have cucumber- – You think it’s better? – Yeah, it makes sense for it to have less sugar. – Okay, I’ll give it 100. – What, no, you don’t do that. (crew laughing) – Yeah, let’s go see what happens. – What is your score? – 90 (Rhett laughing) – Seriously? – I love this cucumber stuff, man. – Well, I mean, I have to give it a 12. (all laughing) – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Grape. – Oh. – I liked that grape before. – 49. – 31. – [Stevie] Gatorade Zero Berry. – Zero Berry. – I don’t remember tasting just a Berry. – This has got a candy flavor to it, but then there’s no sugar. – Yeah, it’s weird. – It’s weird, uncanny valley, 41. – 41. – Man, weird. – [Stevie] G2 Fruit Punch. – What is this, a G2? Is this a different type of sugarless sugar? 29. – I don’t think it’s that bad, I’ll give it 60, a straight 60. – Whoa. You got Gatorade goggles on man. – [Stevie] So G2 is actually half the sugar of the original. – Oh, so it’s not… – Yep. – All the way to zero. – That’s why it’s better. – Yep. – Yes. – G2 Glacier Freeze. – Oh, my god. – This is… – I’m sensing a pattern. (crew laughing) – See, now that you’ve done the Zero, and you’ve gone back to 2, it feels like I’m going all the way, which is- – I just. – That’s a nice little trick that they’re playing on us. – But I feel bad for the guy that has to find all these different parts of the glacier. – I think that’s what he does, yeah. – I mean does he dress like Santa Claus, ’cause that’s how I’m picturing him. – Right, 69. (all laughing) – 50. – [Stevie] G2 Grape. – G2 Grape? – Half the sugar of regular grape which you’ve forgotten about by now because you tasted the crappy Zero Sugar Grape. – I’m so confused. – I know, 72! – I just don’t know anymore, 50? – Question mark. ♪ 50. ♪ – Oh yeah, it did sound like another digit was coming in. (fingers snapping) Okay, we’re moving on to the Gatorlyte. – What’s that? – Gatorlyte? – [Stevie] Yes, like their Pedialytish type of- – Is this for babies? – No, it’s for- – It’s for elderly. – [Stevie] Extreme hydration and we’re starting with Orange. – For people who just recently vomited a lot. – [Mikayla] Hangovers. – Mikayla whispered- (crew laughing) Mikayla whispered, hangovers. (crew laughing) – What’s in this? – I think you have to go back to pre-verbal Link to enjoy this. – Mama, don’t like it, 32. – Those are words, it’s just gotta be, ehhh. – What about numbers? – 3-2. – Ehhh. – What’s your number, dude? – Ehhh. (all laughing) – He’s giving it a 10. – I’m giving it 30. – [Stevie] Gatorlyte Cherry Lime. – Ehhh. – What, tell me what’s in ’em. – [Stevie] It’s like Pedialyte. – It’s awful. – Is there more salt in it? – Yeah, there’s sodium. – It’s chock full of electrolytes. – There’s vitamins. – It’s not supposed to taste good it’s supposed to be good for you and it’s in a pinch, you know what I’m saying? – Yeah. – 15. – 19. – [Stevie] Gatorlyte Strawberry Kiwi. – Kiwi though. – Um-um, hm-um. – Sorry. – Man, it’s a lot to take. It taste like drinking, somebody who was drinking Gatorade and then sweat it out. – Or like mama burning it. – Yes. – And it gets like- – But somebody actively playing racketball. – 19. – 37. – [Stevie] Okay, we’re moving on to Gatorade Fit. – What’s that? – [Stevie] Gatorade Fit Citrus Berry. – Citrus Berry? – Citrus Berry – Oh, it’s clear. That’s weird, I have to give it a 50. – I do not like it, 41. – [Stevie] Gatorade Fit Watermelon Strawberry. – Okay. – Hmm. – We’re gonna have to play sports after this just to justify what happened. – Can you just punch me repeatedly? – You wanna just like- – Not now! – Just like- – When this is over. – Okay. ♪ 24 ♪ – 38. (crew laughing) – [Stevie] Gatorade Fit Cherry Lime. – Cherry Lime. – I’m exhausted. – You’re gonna love this. – Eww! – That might be a one, that’s a one. – I mean I’m gonna be generous and give it a nice solid six. (crew laughing) – [Stevie] And finally, Gatorade Fit Tropical Mango. – Tropical Mango? – Come on, let’s go out on a bang. – It’s really not that bad. The mango flavor profile is pretty nice. – Having never had it. – It’s still not great ’cause of all the other things happening, I’m saying 59. – Yeah, you’re right about the mango stuff, but I just really can’t go over 37. – [Stevie] And that completes the low-sugar category. Congratulations gentlemen, you have offic- (zinging) – [Link] Hey, original Chase, welcome to the season finale. – Finale, I missed the whole, I can’t do this anymore you gotta take this thing. – I don’t want it. – Sure, I don’t want it. – Guys, (hands clapping) right here. (ominous music) Okay, just a little touch there, and then I just turn that off, switch this, okay, and twist, a little touch. We tasted everything? – [Stevie] Yeah, you have officially tasted all of Gatorade’s Thirst Quencher products. Your scores will now be tabulated so that you may more closely review the top four drinks and determine which is the best Gatorade. – All right. (light bubbly music) – [Stevie] According to you the top four Gatorade products, in no particular order are: Fierce Melon. – Okay. – Fierce Grape. – Fierce Grape. – Cool Blue and Lemon-Line. – Of course. – [Stevie] But before you crown the best one would you like to know which product you deemed the worst? – Sure. – [Stevie] Gatorade Fit Cherry Lime. – Yeah, that was horrible. – Yeah, the Fit is just scary. – [Stevie] Also, would you like to know what my favorite flavor is that I was holding so it wouldn’t influence you? – Yes. – Uh, yeah. – Cucumber, I like cucumber. – Yes, I told you it was good. – See Morgan said that was his favorite too, just to say- – That’s why I gave it 100 because I know a lot of y’all- – It’s so good. – Like that out there. – I mean, it’s definitely an adult flavor, so, not for me. (crew laughing) – [Rhett] Okay, going back to melon. – That grape really packs a flavor punch. – Blue has a tang that makes Gatorade really work in a way that Lemon-Lime does. Right off the bat Lemon-Lime and Blue are the top two for me. – [Link] Is grape too much? – I think it is, but I don’t feel that strongly about it. – I agree with you. – Of course if you feel that strongly about it. – So we’re gonna put Fierce Intense Melon in the third spot. – There’s no way that Blue is better than this, right? I mean, I like the Cool Blue, but I love the Lemon-Lime, I love it. – I don’t know, I’m really tempted to put Blue over the top. The one thing it doesn’t have, nostalgia. – So there you have it. – Take the top off that puppy. – Hand me that crown. – We have a screw-top crown, screw it on. – Officially, the best Gatorade flavor that money can buy is the only one they should have ever made, ha-ha-ha, Lemon Lime.
