GMM 2310: Ranking The Most Satisfying Videos

What’s the most satisfying, satisfying video? – Let’s talk about that. (bright music) Good Mythical Morning. – When it comes to satisfying videos, everybody’s got their flavor. Me, I’m partial to the smooth plastic film being peeled off an appliance. So satisfying. – Well, I know that some of y’all like those horse hoof cleaning videos, but you know how I feel about that whole process now. It just, I mean, it’s nightmarish to me to just sit there struggling while your best friend makes fun of you and does absolutely nothing. You didn’t even offer moral support. – I am still very much into those videos. – I’m not. – But today we’re gonna figure out what videos you’re into when it comes to the most satisfaction. It’s time for exposing the top 10 ways to satisfy yourself. – [Stevie] We posted a poll of the most satisfying video categories and the Mythical Beasts weighed in with their favorites. This time we also left an area for them to write in why. Your job is to figure out how they ranked the categories that made up the top 10. We’ve helped you out by giving you three video categories already on the board manned by our lovely research assistant. – I see those three. Thank you for that, Chase. – Yeah. – At number 10, we have factory/industrial manufacturing videos. I also love those. – So that’s, like, a how it’s made kind of thing, okay. – I think I’m gonna love all of these. Number seven, antique/rust restoration. – Okay, I’ve seen, yeah. Mm-hmm, yeah, mm-hmm. – Nothing like a finished product. Four, we got hydraulic press, which- – Oh, we’re so familiar with those. – We’re big fans of. – We’ve done those real live and in person, right? – That’s right. – Here on this stage. – All right, so we only gotta fill in two, four, seven. This is child’s play, Stevie. – How many do we have to get right in order to be the winning guys? – [Stevie] If you get at least six out of the 10 rankings correct, you get to be the winning guys. – The winning guys! – The winning guys! – But- – What do the winning guys get? – [Stevie] You also get some super satisfying bubble wrap suits to wear and pop in Good Mythical More. – Oh, I wanna be the winning guys so bad. – Yes. – [Stevie] All right, well, let’s kick things off with our first satisfying category, and here’s the clip. – Oh, what’s this called? – Perfect fits. – Oh, no. Oh, ooh. – That doesn’t go in there. – It does. – But it does. – Barely. Oh! Are those Game Boys? – Yes. – That’s a lot of Game Boys. – Yes. – What are you gonna do with that many Game Boys? – Ship ’em. – Oh, is that, ooh! – A coffee mug on the end of a- – You’re gonna just leave that there? – Bumper? – That’s an anti-coaster. Oh, are we- – Right in there. – Is that a marshmallow? Are we cooking? – Perfect. – No, you can’t do that. – No, yes, yes, yes! – No, no! – In the, oh, the eyelet of a canvas. – In what? Where’d it go? Who knows? – And how could that be so perfect? And what is that even? I don’t know, a table? (Link sighs dramatically) Why do you think that’s so satisfying? Is it because it’s like sex? – It’s- (crew laughs) It’s, I think it’s because these things are obviously not meant to be together, but yet they’re perfect. – I also- – Perfect fits. – This isn’t ready. I gotta peel off the- – No, can I? Let me. I see it. – Yeah, yeah. – [Rhett] There’s a film over the whole thing? – What, okay, here we go. – It’s over- – Here we go. Here we go. Shh. – Individual pieces. – Now, here’s the thing. – Oh, gosh. About satisfying peel videos. – [Rhett] You can’t talk during it. – Don’t talk during it. – Okay, okay. – Well, I was gonna tell you to say that to yourself. Here’s the other thing. I kinda feel like you have to pull it back so that we, ’cause you’re about to pull it in a way that you’re going in front of it. I feel like you should reach across, not to be a critic here, but- – And you gotta see the whole thing. – I won’t say a word. (film peeling) (Link sighs dramatically) – Oh, wow, man. – There’s more where that came from. I can see ’em. I can spot these mile away. (film peeling) Oh! – Oh, I could do without the sound effects. (Chase laughs) (film peeling) (Link imitates film peeling) (list item clunks) – Oh, oh, oh, okay, that was very not satisfying. – No, I’m gonna leave one for you, Chase. – That was the opposite of satisfying. – [Link] You do the last one. I’ll leave one for you. (film peeling) Nice. – Ah! – There we go. (crew laughs) All right, so perfect fits. Perfect fits. – I’m gonna be leaning on you on this one, Link. You like this kinda thing a whole lot. It really appeals to your personality type. – Yeah, that’s gotta stop. (Chase laughs) – See? – It’s at least number six because they happen so quickly that there’s not a lotta buildup and it’s just kinda like, there it is. It’s immediately satisfying. – I gotta say, I feel like we were, like, almost cheering, you know? Like, we were really getting into it as we were watching it. So I feel like I don’t necessarily do that when I see industrial manufacturing or rust restoration. – Right. Let’s put it at number six for now. We’ll be able to switch it around at the end. – I feel good about this. – Yes, soap cutting. – Oh, we’ve done this. – See how they’re pre-cut and then- – So many pastels. – And now it’s just- (soap scraping) – Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. – We gotta hear the sound, huh? (soap scraping) Yes. If I was her, I would not have any fingers. – Oh, Degree. – Not a sponsor. – For men. – Oh! – Oh, no, you didn’t. – What! – Oh! – What? – This is better than any Degree commercial I’ve ever seen. – Is that for real? – Oh, and then it goes away. (crew laughs) You could show that to me 700 times and I would still never understand how it happened. – I don’t love these as much because someone’s gonna draw some blood, lose a finger, slice off a layer of skin. – I don’t disagree with you. – It gives me a little anxiety. – There’s a little bit of anxiety. However, I will say that these kinda have a little bit of a, they would be in the hall of fame of satisfying videos because it’s one of the first things you think of when you think of satisfying videos because it’s, again, one of the first things that we did, I think, when we were trying to get into this trend. It can’t be all the way at the bottom, can it? – [Stevie] I don’t know if this is helpful but one Mythical Beast wrote, “Makes me feel like my spine is being split in half. I love it.” (Chase laughs) – Yeah, that was not helpful. – Really? (crew laughs) And anyway. – Yeah, this wouldn’t be higher on my list, but it could be in the top three. – You wanna compromise at five? – Yeah, let’s say five for now. – You got it, dudes. – [Link] I feel all right. – Yeah, I like- – I feel all right about that. – I like when you call the winning guys dudes, that’s cool, I like that, Chase. – Winning dudes. – Yeah, we could be the winning dudes. – Ooh, ooh. – Painting in the lines? – Oh. – Ooh! – Oh, that’s impossible. – Now, this is sped up, of course, but- – You don’t know that. – Yeah, I don’t, you’re right, Rhett. – They could be, like, the Steph Curry of painting inside the lines. – It’s kind of, it’s got a jerky herkiness here. – This is kinda like you in first grade. – Yep. – I mean, you weren’t this advanced. – So this is puff paint stuff, man. – Oh, the puffier, the better. Look, look at that, look. – And when you speed it up- – It’s like a real flower. – It seems like there’s something amazing happening. Like, a level of fidelity. Well, they didn’t finish. – Oh, they probably did. They probably did eventually. – You got, you can’t not finish a satisfying video. – That’s very, very, you’re right. – That’s the one you picked to represent puff paint? Where’s the rest? – I would’ve picked a nice light blue to fill in the rest, or maybe a mint green, just between you and us. – [Link] Maybe it goes on for like another hour. – Painting in the lines. – Low. – Very satisfying when you see it, but not very satisfying when you think about it. – In a survey? – Yeah, I’m thinking nine, maybe. Eight or nine. – I hated it. Let’s go with nine. (crew laughs) – You hated it? What if it had finished? – I would’ve loved it. Oh, power washing, yes. – Okay, this can get good. What is that a, that’s a car. That’s a car. That’s a car frame. – Yeah. Yep. – That’s a where the gas tank goes right there. There it is. (water spraying) I mean, I personally prefer decks. – I love decks better, too. – Oh! – Oh, yes. – What is that, a mailbox or a birdhouse? – There we go, now we’re talking about it. – Look at that. – That is an electrical box with algae. (Chase laughs) Oh yeah. That’s smooth. Don’t not finish! (crew laughs) – Okay. – Good God! – What, I mean, what- – What are you doing to me? – Was that calculated? Was that calculated to- – It’s not funny, guys. (crew laughs) – You have no idea what we’re gonna do when we go home after this. We’re gonna finish everything. – [Link] Chase, whose decision was that? – [Rhett] No stopping short tonight! – Was it a direction you gave on purpose? – Based on my research, I thought it would be funny. (crew laughs) – Yeah, well, it’s funny for somebody. Not for us! – [Link] I think this is in the top three. – Wow, top three. – And I was curious if it was because I’ve actually power washed. – I was gonna say it is the most relatable because, you know, as a dad just goes about his dadding, he’s gonna end up power washing something. – My dad, one of his things he does for a living, he paints houses. – Is power wash. – He power washes. He taught me to power wash. He has a powerful power washer. – [Rhett] It’s not number one though. – I’m fine with number three for now. – Okay, number three it is. – So we’re gonna put it at number three. And, oh, speaking of my dad. He has a podcast. – I’ve heard it. – It’s called Dispatches from Myrtle Beach. He dispatches news and happenings from his life to me here in Los Angeles. And it’s 30 minutes every Tuesday now wherever you get your podcasts. And starting today and every Thursday following, the video version is available on YouTube. – What? – So subscribe to the YouTube channel, youtube.com/dispatchesfrommyrtlebeach, to watch my dad talk to me and all of his facial responses to me talking to him. (crew laughs) – Awesome facial responses. – He has just as many facial responses as I do. – Yeah, it’s where you get ’em from. – Dispatches from Myrtle Beach. – Let’s watch the next video. Oh, okay, these get me. – Really? – These get me, man. (dominoes clattering) Oh, look, look. – It’s cool. – I don’t even know really what happened there. – The cat got a little sadder, I think is what happened. – Oh, oh yeah. Oh, those are technically cards, but I get it. Oh, the whole- – Wow, backwards and forwards. – Look at this. Look what’s about to happen. Look. Oh my goodness. (Rhett gasps) – Ooh. And it’s a combination of the sound. – I want it to be one of those things where it’s just, like, a big- – The sights – It goes into a big flower or something. – Where’s the spiral? Oh, it’s going up the- – Upstairs. – Now, that feels physically impossible. – Downstairs. – Okay, defy gravity. And what’s this gonna happen here? – What’s this gonna happen? – Oh, look at that with the spiral action. I love that. Oh, it looks like a big key. Oh, gosh. (crew laughs) – I’m- – I’m sorry. – You’re gonna make me go home and- – I’m sorry. – Stack up a bunch of dominoes. – I’m sorry that we’re doing this to you. – I’m gonna get Shepherd to just stack a bunch of dominoes just so we can finish. – The things that are great about this are- – The falling. – The falling, the sounds, the colors, the reveals. There’s a lot going for it. – You know what I- – There’s something going against it, though. – Okay. – They take too long. Sometimes I’ll lose my patience. This makes me think. I’m thinking about our placement in a future category. And I actually think that Rube Goldberg is probably going to be one of the next two out of these last two. Like, I get more- – I don’t consider that, well, I guess it’s satisfying, but- – I think maybe, here’s the thing. You like things being cleaned, so if you like things being cleaned when you see the dominoes fall- – Something made right. – You see the dominoes fall and you might be thinking, “Oh, that’s gotta be cleaned up.” And so it’s a little bit anxiety-inducing. – Maybe. – I like the domino more than the cleaning ’cause I don’t like to clean. I like to see things fall. – So you’re trying to put this at what, number two? – It doesn’t feel right. Again, if more people watch satisfying videos to, like, see something be made right, then domino would be at the bottom, would be a eight. But if more people watch it to see something cool happen, it would be at the top. – I’m fine with putting it at number two before we move them around. – Okay, okay. – [Stevie] Okay, just a quick warning to people watching at home before we show this next one, if you don’t like seeing large chunks of earwax being pulled out of ears, just close your eyes for the next 30 seconds. – Okay. – Oh, man. I knew this would be one. – I don’t think I can do- – [Both] Body extractions. – No. Oh gosh, no. – Oh, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. – Uh-uh. – No, no. – No. – No. – Uh-uh. Uh-uh! – Oh, no! Bro, what you been doing, man? – What’s your problem? – How did this happen? Well, look at his pants. (crew laughs) I mean, that tells you everything you need to know. – He’s been digging in his ear and wiping it on his pants. – I know, I think he’s got a little flock of birds he keeps as pets on his lap. He’s got lap birds. – So that one didn’t really finish, but it wasn’t my fault. – [Link] Mm-mm. – Thank you for that. (Chase laughs) – We have to put this low because it’s very polarizing. We gotta put it at eight. But if you like it, you love it, so much so that it’s the only one that’s up there that there’s a whole television show around. – [Link] Mm. – [Stevie] Yeah, there’s, like, a poetic thing that someone sent in. “How the anticipation builds while waiting to see what mysteries those inflamed bumps hold.” It sounds like a quote out of, like, a turn of the century letter, you know? – Yeah. – Yeah. – I would like to peruse your inflamed bumps when you return from thoust journey. (Rhett laughs) (crew laughs) – All right, this should be the last one, huh? – It is. Oh. – Cookie and cake decorating. – Okay, so no Rube Goldberg. I was wrong about that. I like some cake decorating. I do like it. – Yep, and the way that it’s so smoothed out. – And it’s got a TV show. A couple of ’em. Ooh, this is almost abstract. Well, look at that. I’ll tell ya. People are so surprising. – This is fun to watch because it’s tantalizing. – Oh my goodness, is this a whole new one? – It’s satisfying in, like, a syrupy and slurpy. It’s got artistry. There’s colors. There’s no sound, though, so it’s missing that. – Oh, gosh. I bet you it ended up filling that whole thing over. – I’m over it now. So- – I like cake, too. – Yeah, I mean, it’s skilled craftsmanship. I mean, there’s some- – And it’s food related. – It’s food related. – Well, we’re kinda stuck with putting it at number one, which this is the least confident I’ve ever been about one of these episodes where we arrange something. – Yeah, because it’s so person-specific, but- – Yeah, yeah, it’s people’s opinions, man. – [Stevie] Well, that’s the right feeling for you to have. – We’re wrong about everything? – [Stevie] Yeah, well, I mean, or you could say you have three correct, but we also gave you three. So yes, you are wrong about everything, but you get a chance to switch, so- – All right, so- – So, cookies and cake. Take that down. – I think it’s always figuring out what is number one. Like, out of all those things, what is really the most satisfying thing for people? – I’m gonna say power washing. – Really? – It’s just, it’s so straightforward. – I understand why you like it, but- – You don’t like ’em. – No, I like all of these. – There you go. There you go. You do like it. – No, but I feel like we’re a couple of middle-aged dads. Power washing. – Yeah. – I don’t think we represent- – But also, like, young kids who are like, “Oh, I’m excited to use a power washer one day.” – [Rhett] Yeah. – Yeah. There’s danger involved. – I’m only saying this because it has a television show. I think that you might have to put body extractions at number one. – Mm-mm. Nope. Nope. Too many people hate it. For every person that loves it, there’s three quarters of a person that hates it. – It is very polarizing. Okay, so what’s the next- – No, it can’t move up. – [Rhett] Soap cutting? I mean, soap cutting is the granddaddy, you know? It’s the hall of fame. – If we put soap cutting at number one, then we have to put power washing at number two. Let’s try that. Soap cutting, power washing, and then that pushes dominoes. – That perfect fit was really, really nice. Again, I don’t know how much people- – We love that. Let’s move perfect fit up to number three, and then let’s put domino falls at number five. Nope, six, sorry. – We’ve got cookie and cake decorating down there. That’s gotta go somewhere. – We gotta pick, put cookie and cake right there at number five. – And then we gotta switch body extractions and painting in the lines. So you’re putting body extractions all the way down at the bottom. – Yep. – Okay. – If you love it, you love it, but if you hate it, you hate it. And now I still wanted to put power washing at number one. – I mean, honestly, I don’t care. If you wanna do it, do it. – No, I think that we’ve cut soap on this show. – We haven’t power washed. – [Link] We haven’t power washed. – We are locked in. – We’re locked in. – [Stevie] Okay, you already got the 10th spot, factory/industrial manufacturing. At number nine, narrowly beating factory/industrial manufacturing, is domino falls. – What? We were three. Rhett, this is on you, man. – Yeah. – You kept pushing that up. – I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I told you I was bad at this. (Chase laughs) – [Stevie] At number eight, painting in the lines. – Hey, hey, hey! – There’s one. – [Stevie] At number seven, you already had antique/rust restoration. Number six is soap cutting. (Rhett scoffs) – Ooh, Rhett. (crew laughs) – I said body extraction should be number one. – You’ve really messed me up. – [Stevie] At five- – If power washing is number one, I’ll come power wash your deck. You don’t have a deck. (crew laughs) – Well, you’ll power wash something. – [Stevie] Narrowly beating soap cutting, it’s perfect fits. Number four you already had, hydraulic press. Number three, cookie and cake decorating. – Oh, shoot, hold on. First of all, body extractions was up there, so- – [Stevie] Coming in at number two, body extractions. – Oh, it was number two. – [Stevie] Which means power washing is number one. – Power washing is number one! Hey, I’ll come power wash something for you, man. Dude, we can’t put on the bubble suits? Come on. Can we put on the bubble suits, please? – [Stevie] Oh, well you can put ’em on but you can’t move, ’cause if you pop one, you can’t win that prize. So you can put ’em on and stay really still. – Okay. Thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. – You know what time it is. – I’m Ryan, I’m from Chicago, I’m peeling a fridge in a really satisfying way, (plastic peeling) and it’s time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. – She didn’t finish. – Finish! (crew laughs) – Click the top link to watch us discover the most satisfying petty revenge stories and try not to pop any of these bubbles in Good Mythical More. – And to find out where the Wheel of Mythicality’s gonna land. – I gotta do this without popping. – Now, where do you stand on caffeine? – Oh, I consume way too much of it and my doctor told me I have to stop. I try and keep it under- – Change doctors.
