GMM 2321: We Tried EVERY Skittles Flavor

Today, we taste all the rainbows. – Let’s talk about that. (lively music) Good Mythical Morning. – We recently learned in a game of Scorn Hole that you hate Grape Skittles, even though we love ’em. – Right. Grape gets a lotta hate, but with so many different Skittles flavors out there, what if there’s something that’s more hatable? – Or, more importantly, more lovable? – Yes. – Today, we’re gonna try every single flavor of those kaleidoscopic candies, to whittle it down to the best Skittle. It’s time for “Gut Check: Skittles Edition”. That’s right, we’re gonna be tasting every single Skittles flavor available to us in the US of A, 35, to be exact. – Would you have guessed that there were 35? – No way, man. – I wouldn’t even try to guess. – I’m scared to guess that many. – All right, we’re gonna rank each flavor one to 100, based on our gut reactions, and the winner in the end will be crowned the Skittles Candy Most Dandy, and receive its own special bow tie. – And to help me along the way, I’ve been given yet another aid in scoring, my Link’s Rainbow Score Chart. – Oh, that’s beautiful. – Isn’t that nice! – That is so beautiful. And you know, at the end of last year, I requested, “Hey, New Year, maybe I can finally get my own visual aid.” So did that happen? – It did, I think. I mean, I’ve been telling them. For months. Even before you said it, that you should have one. There it is. There it is. – “Rhett Make Memories”? (crew laughing) – Just get ’em, right there. – How am I? What? How am I supposed to… – (mumbling) Ten to 60. There you go. All right. We’re ready, Stevie. – [Stevie] Okay, it’s time to taste the rainbow. Our first category is a quick one. It’s the classic Original Skittles flavors, starting with Strawberry. – Strawberry. We’re gonna swallow every one of these? – Eh, maybe not. I mean, it’s very strawberry, and then it gets a little sour, and it is one of their favorites, if not the favorite, from Scorn Hole. – I feel like you get the taste without getting the full swallow. I don’t want you to be here forever. – I’m gonna give it a 60. It’s just– – It’s a little too fruity. – I think so. – Sixty-four. – [Stevie] Orange. – Oh, I like citrus. That’s like an orange Tic Tac. – It really is. You’re right. You’re winning me over. – Seventy-five. – Sixty-nine. – [Stevie] So you would… You said that you’re spitting them out just for the sake of the Mythical Beasts watching, so we didn’t have to sit and wait for you to chew, is why you’re gifting us the gift of dual spitting 35 Skittles. – Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The gift that keeps on giving another 33 times. – Is watching us spit more palatable than hearing us chew, chew, chew? – [Stevie] No. Explicitly not, that’s what I’m saying. But you know what? We’ll move on. – I mean, I’ll just go right here and I’ll do this. And that way you won’t see it. And you put yours right there. – Why is my bucket smaller than his? (crew laughing) Has it always been that way? – Because I used to spit out a lot more than you. – Is this a good compromise? I’m a bigger man! – [Stevie] Well, we’ll see. We’ll see. Lemon is next. – Okay. – I think I’m gonna hate it, but… Yep, I was right. I hated it. – Forty. – Twenty. – [Stevie] Lime. – Lime. – The other citrus. – The superior citrus. – But not that much. Fifty-two. – Forty-nine. – [Stevie] Hey, I have an actual fun fact, which I don’t usually have for Gut Checks, but did you know that the green Skittle used to be Green Apple? – Green Apple’s like the best candy flavor you could have. – [Link] That was stupid. What happened? – Come on. – [Stevie] And Grape. – Oh, remember Grape? – We love Grape. It’s still good. – It’s just like a soda. Like a Fanta. – (indistinct) – Mm. Eighty-seven. – No, it’s not that good. – It is. – It’s a 76. – [Stevie] And that concludes our Original category. Our next category, the Specialty category, features flavors from the Wild Berry, Tropical, Sour and Smoothies bags of Skittles, starting off with Berry Punch. – Berry Punch. – [Link] That’s fun. – Pretty fakey tasting. – Seventy-one. – It’s so soft, I feel like I’m just gonna eat it. – What’s your score though? – Forty-eight. I don’t like it. – Huh. – [Stevie] Melon Berry. – Melon is not a berry. – That takes like a Jolly Rancher. I do not like that. Something about these. I just eat ’em. – Twelve. That one was softer too. I quite like that one. Sixty. – [Stevie] Strawberry. – We’ve already done that. – Strawberry what? Soft Strawberry? – [Stevie] Wild Berry Strawberry, – Okay. There we go. – Why are the wild ones soft? – That’s a better strawberry. It’s creamy. Isn’t there a creaminess to it? – There is a creaminess to it, Link. – Mm. I’ll give it a 68. – I’ll give it a 73. – [Stevie] Wild Cherry. – Wow. You gotta go into the woods to find it. – That tastes like cough syrup. – Yep. I’m not sick. – But I like cough syrup. – Don’t want it. – Sixty-three. – Ten. – [Stevie] Raspberry. – Oh, Raspy. Subtle. – Yeah, where’s the flavor? – Elegant. Where’d the raspberry go? – It does grow on you. You gotta work for it. – You feel like you wanna eat more just to find the flavor. That’s intriguing. – Yeah, I really do feel like I’m still in a 61 zone. – Sixty-eight. – And I ate that one. – [Stevie] Mango Tangelo. – Whoa. Huh? Whoa! There’s a lotta things happening there. I like that one. Seventy-six. – Tastes like a pink Starburst. Fifty. – [Stevie] Banana Berry. – Banana Berry? – What’s a banana berry? – I think it’s a banana mixed with berry. Is a banana a berry? Is banana just a long berry? – Banana’s a… Yes, it is. – [Stevie] I think technically a banana is a berry, but I do believe– – A banana is a long berry? – Yep, it is. – this is a combo – It’s the longest, – situation. yellowist of berries. – That was actually pretty nice. I like a banana flavor okay, and that was like a subtle banana. What is it about the subtlety? – I don’t like banana flavored things, but I did like that. It surprised me. I’m gonna give it a proud 59. – Okay. Proud. But it’s proud. I’m going 78. I quite like that. – [Stevie] Pineapple Passion Fruit. – Okay. Oh, and it’s blue. – Is it? Oh! A little pina colada. Which means you don’t like it. – The pineapple is spot on. But yeah, it’s got, – Why is it blue? – It’s got something. It’s off, and maybe it’s the blueness. – Fifty-six. – Thirty-one. – [Stevie] Strawberry Starfruit. – Starfruit. – Starfruit doesn’t have a lotta taste. It’s like a, it’s almost a floral sweetness. – That is really interesting. It’s an interest that I’m not interested in. Thirty-nine. – Sixty-two. – Let me see. Is this our pallet cleanser, just water? – [Stevie] Yes, that is rainwater, from the rainbow. – Oh, it’s wild water. – Yeah. (chuckling) Kiwi Lime. – Okay. Hmm! – That’s weird. That’s fun. – It almost has a sour apple taste to it, weirdly. – It really does. You could call that Sour Apple. – You said Kiwi and what? Kiwi and Lime? – Yep. – Seventy-seven. – I mean, I like it. I’ll give it a 71. – Sour Strawberry. – Okay, here we go. Now we’re getting somewhere. – Ooh, it’s rough on the outside. Mm hm. Oh yeah. – From the sourness. – This is what Skittles needed. – (spitting) Ech! I like the sour part. Hate the strawberry part. Nineteen. – As soon as we get a good flavor with sour though, this is gonna be good. I’m gonna give that one a 60. – [Stevie] Sour Orange. – Oh yeah, here we… Oh, man. Uh huh. – It’s like a sandpaper coated Skittle. – That tastes like a Sour Patch Kid that’s just been balled up. – Almost too much for me, ’cause the pungency of the orange is already hitting me. – Oh, I love it. Eighty-two. (Link stuttering numbers) – Is there a number in there? Forty-nine. – [Stevie] Sour Lemon. – Oh. – Oh, no way. Woo! – This one bites back a little bit. I still like it though. I actually think the sour makes the lemon make more sense. Sixty-six. – Mm, clean your toilet with that thing. Thirty. – [Stevie] Sour Lime. – Okay. Woo! Wheew! That one gives it to you too, man! Woo! – Actually, something about that didn’t work as well for me. Fifty-one. – Sixty-one. – [Stevie] Sour Grape. – Oh, here we go. – Mm hm. Mm! – Sweet and sour. – That is good! That’s the one I’ve been waiting for, ’cause we love grapes so much. – I don’t think it’s as good as the orange to me, but it’s– – Seventy-nine. – I’m gonna give it a, I’m gonna give it a strong 77. – I’m glad I’m not swallowing all these, dude. – Berry Smoothie. – I’d be hurting right now. – Blueberry S– – Burly Smoothie? – [Stevie] Well, I was missing the B. It’s officially Blueberry Smoothie. – Smoothie. – [Stevie] I was missing a couple of letters. It’s fine. – That takes like acai. – Euch! What is wrong… (spitting) Ooh. Ooh! – That’s got the other things that you put into a smoothie. Like kale. – Turd. – Forty. – Eleven. – [Stevie] Peach Guava Smoothie. – I just don’t! Something about smoothie-izing these things is just nasty. – I don’t like that one. – Twenty. – Thirty-eight. – Euch! – [Stevie] Raspberry Smoothie. – All right, come on now. I should like this. – What do they mean by smoothie? – [Stevie] I don’t really know. – I actually like this one. Something happened. – I’m still in 21 zone. – It fused. Seventy-five. Our scores are all over the place. We’re losing steam, man. Come on! (banging table) Hut, hut, hay! Gotcha! – Mango Smoothie. – Direct that to yourself. – This one is okay. – I like that mango flavor. And it works with the smoothie. – Forty-three. – This one’s good. Seventy-three. – [Stevie] Strawberry Banana Smoothie. – Banana surprised me before. Will it again? – Oh, (spitting) that’s awful. – Yep. – That right there, that’s a nine. – A nine. – [Stevie] And that concludes our Specialty category. Finally, we have the Gummy category, featuring Gummy versions of Original and Wild Berry Skittles. – Did you know this existed? – Uh-uh. Are they bigger? Yes. – [Stevie] Starting with Orange. – Now I’m using my teeth. You might lose a fingernail. – Did y’all know these existed? Skittle Gummy? That’s better than anything I’ve had so far that’s a Skittle. Eighty-four. – Don’t like it. Twenty. – What don’t you like about it? – The taste, the consistency. – Okay. – [Stevie] Strawberry. – It’s a harder Gummy. Seventy-eight. – Thirty-two. – [Stevie] Lemon. – Here we go. – Tastes like a dot. – (spitting) I just don’t like it. – Forty-one. – Eighteen. – [Stevie] Green Apple. – Yes! Are you messing with us? Are you sure this isn’t like, man, it’s hard to tell that it’s apple. No it’s not, man. That tastes just like green apple, and it’s gummy. Eighty-seven. – Okay, there we go. – That’s good. – That is a good one. – I’ll give it a 70. – [Stevie] Grape. – Gummy Grape? Why don’t y’all like this flavor? – It’s so good. (spitting) – “It’s so good,” as he spits it out. – Seventy-one. – It’s not as good as Green Apple, but it’s really strong. Eighty-three. – [Stevie] Berry Punch. – Little fakey, little cough syrupy. – Not much to say. – Fifty-six. – Forty. – [Stevie] Melon Berry. – That’s a nice change of pace. – That’s pretty nice. I’m gonna go up to 79. – Sixty-five. – [Stevie] Wild Berry Strawberry. – Okay. – Wild Berry Strawberry? – Using the berry twice. (spitting) Not great. – Thirty-nine. Not horrible, but… – Sixty-one. – [Stevie] Wild Cherry. – Oh, that’s so soft. Cough syrup. – Still is too medicinal. – Forty-three. – Seventeen. – [Stevie] Raspberry. – Why would you give cough syrup a 43? I don’t understand. – ‘Cause it’s gummy. – What’s this again? – [Stevie] Raspberry. It’s blue raspberry, ’cause it was blue. I’m gonna give it a 64. – Fifty-eight. – [Stevie] And that concludes the Gummy category. You have now tasted all of the available Skittles. Your scores will now be tabulated, so you may more closely judge the top four Skittles for viewers. – They’re gonna be meaningless. – Thank goodness! (lively music) (water trickling) – Before we show you our final four, we wanna remind you that Sporked, you know what, they’ve ranked a lotta candy. Best candy bars, best sour candy, best Starburst products. For rankings of the best sweet stuff you can fill your face with, go over to Sporked.com. – Don’t you wanna know the best stuff to buy? – Yes. – [Stevie] According to you, the top four Skittles products in no particular order are: Sour Grape, – Great. – Grape, – Great. – Green Apple Gummy, – Oh, the apple. – [Stevie] And Grape Gummy. – Okay, so we like grape, y’all. – We like grape! – [Stevie] Yeah, yeah. That’s clear. Before– – Give grape a chance. – [Stevie] Okay! But before you crown the best, the product you deemed the worst was Strawberry Banana Smoothie. – Yeah, that was awful. I’m sorry. – (duck quacks) I don’t even wanna retaste that, man. Get that outta here. And we were surprised by the Kiwi Lime. That’s the one that I’m suggesting you go back to. I thought it might make the top four, but didn’t. – I love the sour, man. – It grips you, and then it leaves you in a grape zone. – Takes a little bite outta you, then licks you a little bit. – Oh man, you know what? I’m almost done with this thing. – Hey, hey, hey! – I’m freaking tired of it. I’m tired of my sling! So I’m just gonna, Ima go loose sling. – [Rhett] Sour is better than regular. – Of course it is. Yeah, ’cause these are really hard to chew too. – Now what about Gummy Grape? Is it better than Regular? – Mm. – Yes. I mean, I love gummies man. It’s the perfect texture. I’ve never liked the texture of a Skittle. – It does have a really good taste. And it’s a firm gummy, but it’s not the firmest gummy, which is still better, I agree. So we’re kicking Grape to the curb. Regular Grapes is going away? – Yeah. And then we’re down– – [Rhett] Is it better than Sour Apple Gummy? I don’t think so. That’s better than Grape Gummy. – It takes some work– – What kinda work are you doing? – to really get through to the taste. – Maybe that’s the difference between me and you. When I eat, I’m not thinking of it as work. – I like chewing hard, and– – It takes some work. You have to chew it. – Chewing hard and tasting hard, man. – You have to think a little bit about what it tastes like. All the best parts of eating. – I think I know where I want to go. And since we got… Here, can you help me out here? So we got Gummies at the third place and second place. So we’ll just, oh, do we have another one? Here we go. Gummies. Thanks for all your help. – Welcome. You didn’t really consult with me, but I don’t disagree with you. – Well, no, I haven’t done anything yet. Right? (crew laughing) Oh yeah, I guess I have. – Link, okay. So I know you think that eating is work. Also, when there’s three places and you you add what was two and three, you usually by default are saying what the one is? – I thought you knew. – Oh, I did know. But it’s just interesting that you didn’t consult. – No. No. I know what you’re thinking. If you disagree, tell me. – No, I don’t disagree. – Right. I knew what you were thinking, dude. – There it is. The, oh! (party poppers popping) The best Skittles flavor that you can have is Sour Grape, y’all. – But hold on. We haven’t said the second and third place. (crew laughing) – Is it just me? – Which one’s second? – Am I the only one who’s confused? ‘Cause he put things up there. – Yeah, but it was just the thing, the backdrop. – Oh. I’m gonna do this without consulting you. – Because you know my answer. – Sour Apple is better than Grape. – I agree. – So Grape Gummy is third place, Grape Sour Apple is second place, and then the best one is Sour Grape. – So congra– (party poppers popping) There we go. Congratulations to Skittles. You got every place today. – Yeah, man. Grape is awesome. – Grape is so great. Thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. – You know what time it is. – Hi, I’m Nancy. – I’m Santos, and we’re from California. – It’s tummy time for Santitos, but for you guys, – It’s time to time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality.
