Today we’re pitting Domino’s against Papa Johns. Let’s talk about that. ((Intro Music)) Good Mythical Morning. Over the years, we’ve pitted many foods against each other, including, three years ago, Domino’s against Pizza Hut. And Domino’s barely eked out the win, beating Pizza Hut by one measly point. Which means today, thanks to that one measly point, Domino’s gets the honor. the distinct privilege, I should say, of carrying on the fight against our next pizza contender. It’s time for Food Feuds, Domino’s vs. Papa Johns. ((Music)) – [Stevie] Who will win a chance to sponsor a future GMM episode today between our competitors? Only taste will tell. But first up, on Rhett’s side, you’ve got a small Domino’s ExtravaganZZa pizza for 13.99 Those olives. Love those olives! Thank you, Domino’s! – [Stevie] And on Link’s side, a small Papa Johns The Works Pizza for 20.99 Papa John’s across the board, I believe, is gonna be more expensive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you know why? Because they have to charge a little bit more because they have a quarter as many stores, Link. Domino’s has about 20,000. Yeah, only 5, 000. For, uh. Why’d you go for the most olivey piece? You should go for a low olive piece so you can pick off less. Well, it was just close to me. This, that right there has a whole bite that’s no olives. The pinnacle bite. Well, the thing they do is, see, they bury the olives. Bury the olives! I’m gonna have to get rid of some of these mushrooms, too, to get. To make it a completely different. Well, I just, I wanna put the stuff that I really like on the end so that I’m giving it its best shot. How do you know I don’t wanna take that home with me? Well, you can still take it home with you. I’m a sausage on a pizza man. You’re a pepperoni man. I like sausage, but pepperoni is my favorite if I have to choose between the two. Now I like both of these pizzas. Is what’s in my head right now. Right. Somebody’s like, we got Domino’s. I’m like, okay. They say we got Papa Johns. I’m like, okay. Yeah. That’s a pretty good pizza. I’m into it. Yeah. Now. This has got a pepperoni bite right on the end. Does it have better ingredients? And do those questionably better ingredients make a better pizza? I mean, I am pretty much getting the same stuff in the bite. They’re different. It’s a sweeter sauce. It’s a sweeter sauce. A little more cheese by default. They’re both really solid. I’m gonna go for a reverse bite. You gotta go to another piece. Just to get a little bit of, crust in here. Look at how much more grease has soaked through that Domino’s pizza than the Papa John’s. I’m not complaining about that. That is wild, dude. It’s kinda crazy, though. I will admit. Okay, just two guys eating pizza. Man. Going back to the Domino’s. Not easy. Let me just eat another. I think I prefer the sauce on the Domino’s side by side because the sauce on Papa Johns is a little sweeter than it needs to be, you know, by my taste. But it wouldn’t register if I wasn’t having them side by side. I’m sorry for just picking this apart, but. And I actually like these ingredients because of the pepperoni. I like this pizza. Stylistically more. Which is actually, oh no there’s pepperoni on this. It’s a better looking pizza. It’s all the same stuff. But it’s better looking. – [Stevie] That grease stain is like, so horrific. It’s not! It’s just melted, it’s just coming from the cheese. It’s just more picturesque over here, isn’t it? And I think the ingredients might be a little better. Alright, I’m a sausage man. The sausage is a little better over here. Pepperoni’s a little better. The cheese ratio’s a little better. So I’m gonna give the Domino’s a nice, solid 8. And this is on a scale of fast food pizza. This isn’t like you can go to the nicest, the nicest pizza joint in town. Correct. Correct. We just keep picking this apart. Alright, I’ve given it an 8. What are you gonna give it? That’s a really high score. I was gonna give it an 8, which, that’s really solid. Cause I was gonna give this a 7. 8 and 7. I’m gonna give the Papa Johns a 9. Whoa! Yep. Can you do that? Can you do that? I’m not trying to figure out what we’ve done, but I’m pretty sure that they’re tied right now. ((Music)) Before we taste hot wings, remember, it’s the last day of Mythical Food Week. We’ve had a blast this week, and we’re bringing it to a delicious end with an exclusive Spicy Buffalo Pizza Wings recipe inspired by this round, and a how to video with Vi over on the Mythical Society. Vi, tell us about these wings. – [Vi] These are called the Spicy Buffalo Pizza Wings. They are freshly baked chicken wings topped with spicy buffalo marinara sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and red pepper flakes. Oh, dang. So it’s like pizza on a wing? Dang! It’s gonna be tough to beat these. Even though they’re not really in competition against what we’re about to eat. It’s like instead of pizza crust. There’s a wing under there. So again, go to mythicalsociety.com, get the recipe, make these along with Vi. And as a reminder, a portion of the proceeds from new subscription purchases of the Mythical Society this week will be donated to No Kid Hungry. We don’t wanna get too excited about those wings because we have to judge. These wings. – [Stevie] Yeah, so on Rhett’s side is Domino’s eight piece buffalo wings for 9.49, and Link, on your side, is Papa Johns for 11.99, and you also have both blue cheese and ranch dipping sauces from each place to try alongside the wings. Well, thank you for that. All right. I’m a blue cheese guy, you’re a ranch guy, so I’ll just do blue cheese for both. Put them over here so that I can. Do ranch for both. And did you know that when Papa John, the guy who started it, was removed from association with Papa Johns restaurant Beause he said some stuff he shouldn’t have said. They also removed the apostrophe from the name Papa John’s at the same time. We’re all John now. No one possesses it. In 2021. Alright, so, little bit of ranch. I’m going no sauce for my first wing. When you get a hot wing. Tell them. From a pizza place. Tell them. You’re making a specific choice to like not get it from a wing place. This is not a fried wing, it’s like a baked wing. It’s not bad, but it’s like, I consider this a whole different food group. It’s soft. Personally. It’s soft all around. There’s not gonna be any crunchiness to it. – [Stevie] Rhett, if you wouldn’t mind just, we can’t really see, yeah. ((Laughing)) And you did it so beautifully. The taste. The taste is “deece”. Totally decent. Their blue cheese. What do you think of the blue cheese? It’s not, it’s not great, but it looks a lot better than Papa Johns. It’s like separated. That’s scary. So I’m gonna try some of this Papa Johns ranch. Wings are not bad. Ranch is a whole lot better from Papa John’s. And the wings themselves. So big. They have some dark char on them. They look like grilled wings. Totally different flavor profile. Yeah. They like things to be sweeter at Papa John’s. You’re right, it’s not as hot. It’s a better taste though. The wings themselves are just better. It is a better wing. The sauce is not as good though. Now, the buffalo sauce. It’s too sweet. Yeah. The blue cheese, while it looks weird. Tastes better. So I’m on team Papa Johns again for this one. I think Papa John’s takes this. Even though you are right about the wing sauce itself. These are almost just too mushy. Yeah, it’s soggy for Domino’s. Oh, thank you. For these Domino’s wings I’m gonna give them, and again, we’re on the fast food. It’s it own kind of scale. Well, the sauce is so good. Balance out the sogginess. I’m gonna go for just a delicate 5. I’m gonna give them a 6 because I really appreciate the sauce. I’m not going a full two points up for Papa. I’m going a one point up to a 6. Did I say? To a 7. Because I already said 6. 6 here, 7 there. The wings are huger. They’re tastier. The sauce is lacking, but they’re not soggy. They’re not soggy at all. I’ve gotta go up two, to a 7. Okay, all the way to a 7. ((Music)) – [Stevie] It’s time for our specialty sides round. On Rhett’s side is Domino’s Cheddar Bacon Loaded Tots for 6.99 And on Link’s side is Papa John’s Jalapeño Papa Bites for 7.99 Wow, they’re trying things! So this is a Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia? Or is that just what it says on top? – [Stevie] Yep. They’re trying to sell you that. It’s Papa John’s Jalapeño Papa Bites for 7.99 It’s what Stevie said a moment ago. They’re selling me a totally different thing on the top, which is confusing. Well, it’s also just called advertising. This looks like something you’d make at home. I stand by it being confusing. Do you want to join me over here? Yes, I do. Good gosh, this is chaos. Whoa! This is like something I would have invented in middle school. And put it in a microwave? Man, that Parmesan cheese is so strong and so good! Bacon and tater tots? These are crazy! It could be soggy, but unlike their wings, it is not. Why are y’all doing this? I mean, and I mean, I’m happy. is there a sauce on it? What is this sauce? Parmesan. Oh my god. It’s like a garlic parmesan. – [Stevie] It’s a garlic parmesan sauce, yeah. I don’t know if this will influence your score, Link. There’s no cheese on it? They used to have, no, it’s garlic parmesan. Parmesan is a cheese. Oh yeah, you’re right. But is it garlic parmesan sauce? – [Stevie] Yeah, well it says a blend of cheese with mozzarella and melty cheddar and garlic parmesan sauce, so it’s extra cheesy. But then a parmesan sauce. Yeah, so there’s also cheese. You just said, is it cheese or is it a sauce? And the answer’s both. Both. I don’t know if this is going to influence your score, Link. That’s a rough day. But. I just feel like I’m. – [Stevie] Listen boys, you’re both right. And you’re both having a good time eating food together as friends. We’re both right, man. I’m gonna, we’re just getting our wires cross. I’m gonna cheer you up. In, they used to have a 30 minute guarantee, right? Pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less. And then they had a series of misfortunes. Including, a Domino’s delivery driver who was really trying to get that pizza there on time, who ran a red light. And, ran into a woman. No. Who then got 80 million dollars. What? From Domino’s. Good God. I might get hit for 80 million. I don’t know. If it’s like a low sweep and I get to flip over the car and then land on my feet. I don’t know the circumstances, I probably shouldn’t be commenting on it. But it did result in the half hour guarantee being dropped in 1993. So they don’t guarantee that anymore, Link. Does that cheer you up? Yep, I was so upset and now I’m not. Great. Over here we have not the Cool Ranch Papadia. Now this is stuffed full of jalapeños because that’s what it is. And then I’m gonna dip it in this ranch cause that’s what you do. I’m gonna go dipless first bite. There’s no way this can be better than that, is it? It’s more traditional pizza joint food. Now is that cheese or a cheese sauce inside of it? – [Stevie] Actually, there’s a creamy alfredo sauce inside of it. And our signature cheese. Good question. So it’s both. It’s both. So it’s kind of like a. – [Stevie] I also said our signature cheese as if I’m. I like the way you’re owning it. – [Stevie] I’m like, at Papa John’s. It’s like a garlic knot. It’s really good. But this over here is just. I like the jalapeño Like I said, you just mix it up. It just, you can’t go wrong with this stuff. Unless you consult your heart doctor. That’s an 8. I’m gonna give that an unabashed 9. It’s just accessible. A middle schooler could make it, but yeah. You could also just have it delivered from Domino’s. This, I don’t know, it’s not wowing me in any way. I’m gonna give it a 5. It’s decent. Whoa. Yeah. It’s not ringing my bell. I’m giving it a 7. I like them. I like jalapeños This is something you get at a more traditional pizza joint. It’s solid. It’s just not quite as crazy in a good way as this. ((Music)) – [Stevie] And finally, it’s dessert time. On Rhett’s side is Domino’s Cinnamon Bread Twists for 7.99 And on Link’s side is Papa John’s Cinnamon Pull Aparts for 9.99 Mine come in a pan. They need it. Look, I mean, look how, they let things leak. Look, I mean, they just let things leak. at Domino’s. They don’t care. Leaky deaky. I mean, it looks, I know we’ve had these before, but, it looks like a cinnamon coated dog turd. Your dog’s making turds like that? That’s healthy. If you just walked up on that, wouldn’t you think it was a dog turd? I mean, if I got close enough, if I got down there and sniffed it, I’d probably realize it wasn’t. Gosh. Why’d you make that sound when you did it? Because I didn’t get a lot of, it just kind of stuck. Oh, there we go. Man, you hot. You gotta stretch it farther than that. Not today! That icing’s not gonna go. That’s really good. That’s great. It’s really moist. Very cinnamony. I was afraid it was gonna be dry. But it’s not dry. Yeah, even without the sauce it’s good. Even though I haven’t had it without the sauce, I’m just saying. It’s not dry. But they have done, I mean, look at all of this detritus down there, man. That’s a mistake. What, what? And look, on what? You know what you can do with this? You can put it back on it. Somebody made a mistake. No, they didn’t. They put too much cinnamon sugar. I mean, are you supposed to take it and lap it up? Yeah, that’s not a mistake. That’s a nice little feature. Right. You gotta watch yourself. Now, these, this is giving monkey bread. ((Laughing)) Oh, man, that’s beautiful. Oh! Oh! I’m going right for the middle. Good God! Man. There’s a strudel experience happening. I know where they put the apostrophe. They put it right there. Did that make sense? No. Dang, this is so good. These are both good, but this is like, you gotta have a pan for that. You know what this one has that that one doesn’t have? So much more butter. It’s very buttery. I’m going back to this just to sanity check. This is good, man. I mean, yeah, this is great. Like, if I’m going on its own and I’m giving this a score without thinking about this. It’s so good. This one doesn’t have as much cinnamon. If you really like cinnamon, you might like the Domino’s better. I mean, I’m, I still have to give this an 8, just, like, on its own. Me too. Then I go back here. That’s a 10. That’s the perfect fast food dessert. I mean, you can get as good, but I don’t think you can get better than that. Can you get better than that? It’s so good, y’all. Dang it, I’m gonna give this a 10, too. Oh, we did it! Double ten! I’m gonna give it a ten, too. Double ten. All right, so where does that bring us? Does it bring us to a winner? Congratulations to? – [Rhett] Well, congratulations to nobody. That’s right. We decided. There was just too many things on these menus to try in one episode, so we’re carrying this Food Feud over to a part “deu” What? Which means you’re gonna have to come back here in the new year to see who wins. It’s called a cliffhanger. Little experiment. And it’s not, I mean, only two points are separating them right now. Very, very close. So, don’t forget about us in 2024. That’s right. Thanks for subscribing and clicking that bell. You know what time it is. I’m Becca. And my name’s Alyssa. And we’re from Vancouver Island, Canada. And we turned Rhett and Link into a pizza. And it’s time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. Did you now? What’s that? One or both of us? Oh, yeah, that’s the desk. Oh, I see it now! That’s crazy. It’s amazing. Amazing work.
