What's the correct way to eat a burrito?
Let's talk about
that.
Good Mythical Morning.
We are about to find out how the majority
of people eat certain foods, but first, this
portion of today's episode is sponsored by
Bombas, a comfort focused premium basics
brand with a mission to help those in need.
I very much love all of my Bombas products,
socks, and everything else included.
My slippers are at, they're, they're
basically my office shoes at this point.
I've noticed that.
I, I keep a pair here and
now they have outside shoes.
Like these.
The Friday slides.
The Friday slides, that's right.
I've been known to venture outside in
a robe for a number of reasons, you
know, to take the trash out, watch the
sunset, yell at the neighborhood kids.
Mm-hmm.
And now I no longer do that barefoot.
Yes.
I do it into my Friday slides.
And it doesn't have to be
Friday to yell at some kids.
No, it doesn't.
Or to chase my cat back into the house.
Oh, I don't do that.
Oh, I, that's my main reason.
Do you need help?
I slide, yeah.
Come over.
Okay.
If that sliding door stays open,
I gotta slide in my slides.
Now, the Friday slide,
it's light, it's cushy.
The foot bed is incredibly light so you
don't feel weighed down while you walk.
And you got this cup, these cups
in the background, so it cups
your heels so you don't slide off
when you're yelling at the kids.
They're designed to go wherever you go.
The pool, walking around town,
just hanging around your house.

Alright.
Now, when it comes to eating a burrito.
There is an objectively correct way
to do it, and that is in a dark room
where nobody sees the horrors that
I accumulate on my beard as I go.
But when it comes to whether or not a
burrito should be cut in half before
you eat it, and other controversial food
questions, we polled you for your answers.
It's time for
Incredible Edible Percentibles.
So Brittany did all the research for
this episode, so she's on the mic.
Hello, Brittany.
Hey guys.
We polled the Mythical Beasts and asked if
they preferred to bite their burrito whole
or cut it in half and bite from the halves.
Mm-hmm.
So go ahead and try both ways out.
You need to guess how the majority of
Mythical Beasts answered to get one point.
And if you get within 10% of the actual
total, you'll get three more points.
Yes.
So red is burrito cut in half.
Take a bite.
Now, do you have a, like, this,
I don't cut my burritos in half.
I don't cut my burritos in half.
Um, but I hate, I wish I did
'cause I hate doing this.
I love that first bite.
The tortilla bite.
That's a, that's one of the better bites.
Good burrito.
I mean it, what is it,
it's also the last bite.
It's the first bite of the last bite.
You gotta bite it, what you gonna.
You gonna just avoid it all together?
So you were way over here on
whole burrito, which I agree.
When I get the whole burrito, I
don't cut it in half, but I wish I
would because this is better, dude.
Well, I also think it's for people who
think they may not eat the whole thing.
Yep.
That's not me, you know me.
I'm gonna eat the whole thing.
Um, now Brittany, I understand that
this is, uh, this is personal for you.
This burrito thing?
Yeah.
I ate a burrito on the internet and I made
people really mad with the way that I did it.
Which is?
Uh, do you wanna know, I don't
wanna influence your decision.
Uh, you won't.
You have no influence over us.
I, well, good to know.
I had one bite of it.
Um, I poured salsa on it and I
poured salsa on the burrito whole.
People were very mad about the burrito.
You poured salsa down the burrito like an..?
No, I held the burrito vertically.
And then I poured salsa a little bit on
the top because it was too big to dip
into the little salsa cup they gave me.
Yeah.
I didn't want a dry first bite.
Why didn't you cut it in half first?
Well, I don't want it to get cold
and I want to eat the burrito.
I want it to be, it's a self-contained food.
I don't want to mess with
the structural integrity.
You can't let all the outside into
the inside of your burrito right
at the beginning of the meal.
The thing about cutting a
burrito in half is that.
Breaking the seal.
You're, you get a great first bite.
And then you have the option to
not just eat all that flour clump
at the end if you don't want it.
And it also encourages portion
control, but it makes you feel guilty.
Who cares about that.
When you do go to the second half
after intending to not go to it.
Right.
Also, I like my meal to begin
and end exactly the same way.
Tortilla, tortilla.
You just made, you don't.
Let me just say this.
He made that up.
I think that, I think that I
am probably in the minority.
I think that the average person
does exercise portion control.
I think that the average person does
like to be able to see the ingredients
of, I like to bite into things blind.
I like to have, there could be a human
finger in this and I wouldn't know it.
But, but.
That's how I like to live my life.
But people don't do what they say they
want to do, and I'm included in that.
But cutting it seems more reasonable
and people like to seem reasonable.
I'm saying for every reason.
But they don't actually do it.
The majority of people cut it in half.
The majority of people don't cut it in half.
What?
Yeah, they want to, but they don't.
I disagree with you and
I'm agreeing with you.
I think we're somewhere in here.
I mean, you think we're somewhere here.
People don't, I mean, you,
you have to have the knife.
It's wrapped up in foil.
You're gonna take foil all the
way off just to cut it in half.
No, you cut to the foil.
Oh God, that's the, that, that's the worst.
Because you get foil in there and
then you eat the foil, but foil
is good for you, 'cause it's...
Cutting through foil is like biting
foil with your teeth, which is a no-no.
It's like, it, doing to a knife
what you shouldn't do to your teeth.
Don't do that.
Okay.
Help me understand why you're saying
this, 'cause I. Well, I, that's, that's.
Kind of all I've been doing.
I don't know if you've given the logic.
You just said people don't do
what they think they want to do.
Because, all the.
But why did they do this?
All the reasons, because
they don't have a knife.
Because it's just there and it's ready to go.
Okay.
Well, it's not, it can't be more.
I love that there is a right answer
because usually we'll just argue to, and
then it'll be, it'll be the next round.
It can't be 40%, it can't be that 60%
of people want to eat the whole burrito.
Can it?
We get one point if we're
on the right side of 50.
We can't even agree on that.
I just thought the people like the idea of
cutting a burrito and that's what they about.
Brittany's over here, you're
over here, and I'm over here.
That's true.
Even though I disagree.
You still don't cut, and that's a big factor.
Exactly.
I'm saying here, move
it wherever you want to.
Well, we have to at least not
be on an even number, right.
But we always need to be, what did
we say we needed to be no closer.
We have, we, we figures.
How do we get the, the extra points are what?
Being on the, within 10.
If you're within 10% of the actual
total, you'll get three more points.
So it never makes sense
to be any closer to 50.
If you're gonna choose a side, you want
to have the option of being right in here.
So we should be on 41, we should
be on 41, we should be on 39.
Because it's either gonna be 51.
We are at 39% cut in half.
This feels crazy to me, but I hope I'm wrong.
85% of the Mythical Beasts
bite the burrito hole.
85. There is a God.
Hold on, but you're wrong.
That's what I'm saying, I'm saying that.
There's a God and, is it me?
No, I'm, my point is, is that
people actually do the right thing.
I just thought everyone did the wrong thing.
Okay.
No, they, they do the wrong thing
for the, they, for the wrong reason.
85%. Oh my.
So we got one point.
Yep.
It wasn't, it wasn't pretty.
Oh God.
Next we asked the Mythical Beasts
if they preferred to order their
burger with some pink or no pink.
Some pink, no pink.
Well, first of all, there's
a lot of pink on this one.
And uh, but you know, it's
just to get the point across.
And Nicole, I'm assuming that this was, uh.
You know, properly, what youma call it?
Temp checked.
Well, what do you do when you, you
like, ground meat, because you don't
wanna do like just regular ground
meat from the grocery store pink.
You want to, unless you do your, what
is it when you put in, boil what, what?
You mean grind it?
Did I grind it myself?
No, but right before you grind
it, you do something to kill the
bacteria on the outside of it.
What's it called to do that?
Cook it.
Okay.
Nevermind.
I cook, I temp checked and I cooked it.
Okay.
Not enough 'cause it's still pink inside.
I've never ordered a burger pink.
I just take a burger
however, they, they do it.
So I don't know the term, and I don't
know why I can't remember the term.
But typically when you go to like a
nice restaurant, you can feel safe that
you're gonna eat a pink burger because
they kill the bacteria on the outside
of the meat before they grind it.
If you just get ground meat from the
grocery store, that's just packed up.
It's less safe because the, the bacteria
on the outside of the meat might
be in the grind- grinding process.
People are scared of pink burgers.
That's all that I do know.
We're wondering if you're talking
about surface decontamination.
It's a common word and everyone, 85%
of the audience is saying it right now.
In the comments.
Cooking.
There's a word you're
like, oh yeah, that word.
Nobody knows what I'm talking about.
Cooking.
Meat washing.
No, it's when you.
Freezing.
No, the outside of the meat.
Raw meat.
It gets really hot, like you'll
dip it into boiling water.
Not cook it, to.
Shocking.
Curing.
What?
Curing.
No.
Blanching.
No, it's.
I don't have a microphone, I'm just yelling.
Somebody use AI and ask that question.
Okay.
It's, I mean, I'm just saying it's like you
see it anytime this discussion comes up.
I mean, look at Link, he thinks I'm
crazy, but there's a term for, you
wanna make sure that this is done.
Anytime you're talking about grinding meat.
I, you know what?
I don't think you're crazy.
I just think that nobody knows.
Everybody knows this, but when I, when
you, when you know the word, you'd
be like, oh yeah, that's the word.
Nobody knows, Rhett.
Okay.
Well, no one here knows.
I want you to adjust that and
I'll figure it out real quick.
The more, adjust what?
I I, I'm gonna sit outta
this round anyway, like.
Clock wipe.
I'm sitting outta this round because I
was so wrong in the first one anyway.
No but, all right, well, I've locked in.
You gotta hurry up.
Uh.
That's our answer.
Yeah, but you didn't say why.
What?
Why?
Because nobody likes pink.
I, I just don't, I don't have the patience.
I, I said people are scared of pink burgers,
and now they're scared of you, I think.
Brittany?
Okay, uh, 62% of the Mythical Beasts
order their burger with no pink.
Okay.
So I was way off.
Um, but we still get a point.
62%, huh?
I, I think it tasted a little
better when it was cooked more.
Uh, so I dunno.
I mean, I know you want a juicy burger.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Figuring it out, man.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Okay, I guess it doesn't exist.
Pasteurization.
Brittany.
That's the word.
Okay, um, we ask the Mythical Beasts
this time if they prefer their fish
tacos with grilled fish or fried fish.
Tacos, only.
Correct.
Fish tacos, first of all.
Hmm.
Not, I mean, I guess they're everywhere now.
The first one I ever had was in
California, the state I'm currently in.
Yeah.
When we, when we came to LA the first time.
Rubio's.
We got off the plane and we were like, we
need to get this thing called a fish taco.
And we were like, Rubio's is incredible.
It is good, but we didn't realize
how much better it could be.
It's like a fast food
chain if you're wondering.
I mean that's, to me,
that's a healthier choice.
But I get grilled anyway 'cause I think.
It tastes good.
It tastes good.
But,
when I get a, yeah, it, it's really just a,
um, it's a health conscience choice for me.
'cause this is gonna be good too.
Now, is this pasteurized?
No, it's just fried.
Beer batter fried.
Mm. I definitely prefer this.
Fried?
And back home, the only way we
would eat fish growing up was fried.
So we're definitely in fried territory.
I think more people prefer
fried fish, I agree with that.
This is really, really good.
What kind of fish is that?
Some people are still not
even familiar with fish tacos.
Halibut.
Halibut.
Halibut is so big.
62%. Have you seen how big a halibut can get?
Uhuh.
500 pounds, brother.
You know how many fish tacos
you can make from one halibut?
Probably 2,800.
22. 200. More than 28.
That's good fish.
62 people like pink burgers.
No.
Non pink burgers.
I think more people, you think
we're in here with fried fish?
I think we might even be here.
No, no, just I'm creating a pie chart.
Within a pie chart.
Mm-hmm.
So you're happy with me
doing anything in here?
I feel that way.
74%. Yeah, that's a little much.
72%. Do you think people are
thinking about health consciousness
when they answer this question?
I just think that some people
would never think about putting
a grilled fish in a taco period.
It's still a regional thing.
You're saying they didn't think about
it until we posed this question.
Yep.
And it was the first time some people had
ever thought about grilled fish in a taco.
Yes.
Because we presented the idea to them.
Yep.
And some people, when you say
something like that, they can't picture
it, you know about those people.
Nothing wrong with you, but if you
say, if I say grilled fish, you don't
have to look here to picture it.
Right?
Right.
You can see it in your brain.
Yeah.
What color is it?
White with blacks.
Stretch, stretch, stretch marks.
Okay.
Well, your brain works
a little bit different.
It, it, it, it had a growth spurt.
It's a little too fast
for the skin to keep up.
But there are some people that when you
say grilled fish, they can't picture it.
They gotta see it.
That's sad.
It's irrelevant to the conversation.
It's not too sad though.
Brittany.
And the only way to fix
them is pasteurization.
Come on.
Well, 59% of the Mythical Beasts
order their fish tacos with
fried fish.
So we were right, we, we were off by
by 3% of getting the double points.
We suck today.
I feel like it's mostly my fault.
I'm sorry.
Agreed.
Gonna keep eating.
If you're into strong food opinions
like we're getting into today,
and you're a kid or have a kid in
your life, we wrote a kid's book.

Now, Brittany, uh, we have done so bad today.
I know that we can't get
anywhere near 12 points.
We only have three points.
What are we gonna do?
Yeah, you've honestly done really bad, but
we think if you get within 2% of the actual
total of this one, we'll still give you the
really cool percentage T-shirts we bought.
Oh.
2%. 2%. Forks and spoons.
Uh, snoods?
Yeah.
We asked the Mythical Beasts if
they preferred using a fork or
spoon to eat their mac and cheese.
Spoons upside down is snoods.
What is your, what's your knee jerk on this?
My knee jerk is spoon, but there are
plenty of times that I've forked it.
I kind of like the fork.
So how does this impact
your feelings about this?
I eat mac and cheese, but I eat mac and
cheese almost exclusively as a side.
And when I'm eating it as a
side, I do not put my fork down
and pick a spoon up to eat it.
Now if I make myself a bowl of mac and
cheese, which I tend to not do, that would
be the occasion in which I would use a spoon.
So you never use a spoon to eat a
main, is that what you're saying?
That's the implication.
I think what you're really saying is
whatever you have in your hand, you're
gonna eat everything with it, because.
I do sometimes set a fork down and
pick a spoon up, but like for soup.
Peas?
For pudding.
Peas.
Peas, I try fork it first.
But what if you already have the spoon?
What if you're eating.
Pudding to peas?
Never done it.
French onion.
Never tried it.
To mac and cheese.
I've never gone pudding to peas.
What was the sequence that you suggested?
French onion soup to mac and cheese.
I will finish the french onion soup.
I will set my utensils down.
Usually the waiter will take the
bowl away 'cause it's an app.
Then there's never a moment when
I've got french onion soup and peas
or mac and cheese in front of me.
But I don't, I think most people are thinking
about a bowl of mac and cheese like we have.
And then just if, which.
When it's a bowl, you think spoon.
I always think spoon.
But I am now telling you that
if it's, if it's firm and
viscous like that, like this is.
You don't need a spoon.
I really like what the fork is doing.
So regard, I mean, I think what we're
gonna be, we're gonna be majority
spoon, but what, what we need to do.
Is be right on it.
We need, we need to be, as a
society, more fork friendly.
Next time you eat mac and cheese, go for
the fork and let and, and then, you know.
Email me.
And thank you.
What's your email address?
Uh, ratherbshaggin53@aol.com.
Okay.
All right, okay.
Um, man, um.
Nobody thinks forks and
they're not eating it.
They're responding to a
survey on the internet.
And they're just like, spoon, spoon, spoon.
Way, way disproportionate to
actual practice or superior method.
But then do they not think, well, when's
the last time I had mac and cheese?
Well, I guess I had it two nights ago.
It was a side.
Did I put my fork down and pick a spoon up?
I think not.
I think that might be what happens.
And then it, oh, you've already moved it.
Are you thinking that hard when
you're responding to our surveys?
Mythical Beasts think so hard they sweat.
And what does it smell like?
Rainbows.
Hyenas.
But we can't, we, this isn't about
the, this isn't about the 10 points.
This is about getting right on it.
You think it's higher than 60?
You think it's higher than 59, I can see it.
You think it's 63?
No.
No, I don't.
I don't.
I was actually gonna go this way.
I was gonna.
I don't know, it's.
85% of people like to eat their
burritos whole, which makes sense.
You're right.
I think it's 51%.
You think it's not, I I know
this isn't what I've been saying.
Well, I, I have, I've lost all confidence.
61. 59%. Nicole says she's never seen
anybody do the thing that I described
about pasteurizing meat before grinding in
a restaurant, and I take her word for it.
I think it's just something they write on
the internet to make sure you're being safe
and then nobody actually does it in practice.
Mm-hmm.
I feel like I've been had.
I don't, I just don't, I
just really can't engage.
I, I noticed.
I need for you to just move on.
Okay.
59, no.
Heinz, 57.
Okay, all right.
59% of the Mythical Beasts.
Hold up, it still, still.
Eat their mac and cheese with a fork.
Come on, be happier.
Oh, hold on.
Hold, hold on, hold up.
It's, it's the other side.
What.
With a fork.
Oh God.
What?
Be happier, be sadder.
It was the fork side.
Give us the shirts that you can't give us.
It was the fork side.
These are the shirts you would have won.
And we would've been so happy.
Oh, I like that.
Always go a hundred percent at work.
Oh, yes.
Your body's 70% water and I'm thirsty.
Yours is better.
I don't even want that.
I, I, I want this.
Well, you can't have it.
Thanks for commenting and sharing this video.
You know what time it is.
I'm Maddy.
And I'm Will.
And yesterday we got engaged in
Fisher, Texas and it's time to
spin the Wheel of Mythicality.
Congratulations.
Fisher, Texas.
Um, I'm trying to figure out what
that blue thing was behind him.
I think they've been rock climbing.
Yoga mat.
Oh.
I don't know.
You know what, we're gonna give some
unsolicited advice to one Delia.
Delia, here's the deal.
Should you break up with your boyfriend
because a psychic told you to?
Uh, no.
No.
Well, yes.
If the psychic was your boyfriend, yes.
That, then definitely yes.
And yes anyways.
But for reasons I can't get into, ah.
