Oh. Is cheap German food better than expensive German food? Let's talk about that. Good Mythical Morning. We're about to eat some foods at different price points from around the world. But first, this portion of today's episode is sponsored by Olipop, a healthier soda alternative that supports digestive health with a functional ingredient blend. Okay. This summer, Olipop presents the Battle of the Berries. We got a new flavor, Raspberry Sherbet, versus a returning fan favorite, Blackberry Vanilla. Oh, yeah. I've been loving this. I, I've been, I've been drinking lots of Olipop. Alright. You've been watching me do that. You just watched me drink Olipop. When I'm not drinking water. I've been looking at you watch me drink Olipop. Mm. Ah. Okay. I'm gonna make some points for my side. Mm-hmm. Because I'm on the side of Raspberry Sherbet. It has a nostalgic sherbet taste, and it's only 30 calories with six grams of fiber. Well, Blackberry Vanilla's so good they brought it back from the archives. 50 calories with nine grams of fiber. Well, Raspberry Sherbet is only around for summer, so it's exclusive. Well, people wouldn't stop asking for Blackberry Vanilla, they had to make it available again. Why don't you just choose a side for yourself? Buy any two cans of Olipop in store and they'll pay you back for one. Works on any flavor, any retailer. Scan the QR code or click the link in the description to claim the offer. Olipop is available in the soda aisle and with the chilled beverages at thousands of retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Target. Thanks again to Olipop for sponsoring this portion of today's episode. And now we're going to taste iconic dishes from around the world to find out which, if any, are better when they're pricier. It's time for Naked Foods: Around the World Edition. Naked. The only thing that's naked is the food. I mean, can you imagine a sandwich wearing clothes? That sounds insane. All right, fellas. Today you will be tasting dishes hailing from different countries all around the world at low, mid, high, and fancy price levels. Okay. You can pick your favorites, and by the end we'll figure out how expensive your tastes are. And up first, Germany's own bratwurst. Bratwurst. Some but come with buns, some don't. Some but come with buns. We just asked for bratwurst, and this is what they gave us. Okay. And that's exactly what we did. Some white meat in this one. It's a whitish cross-section Not a lot of pop to the skin. I mean, clearly something that's in bread's gonna be good. This is good. It's fine, but I feel like- You didn't think it was fine? this, this has an advantage because it's in bread. Yeah. And I don't wanna just eat the wiener. But still no toppings. I mean, this, as served with nothing added is naked. I mean, that is a good bun too. Almost too good. I feel like I gotta just go straight wiener. Is the brat what's sweet, or is it the bun that's sweet? The bun. It's like a sweet Hawaiian bun. I think I might know where this is from. So good in there. And I've never had it from there. Me neither. But I've had the buns. Mm. This is a big sausage. Got a- Totally different flavor ... it's, it's darker. I think that there's a little bit- Is it gamey? ... of something organ-y, gamey, liver-y inside of a bratwurst that is supposed to be there and is really coming through with this in a way that I think I'm supposed to appreciate, but I don't. So you think this is high end, but too high end, over your end? All right. They grilled the bun. Nice grilled lines on this. Same darkness as the first one. Again, totally different. Mm-hmm. Hmm. This one's, like, peppery and spicy and... I never order bratwurst anywhere. Yeah, me neither. I mean, if I go to, like, the state fair or something. I usually get the Italian sausage. I usually get the Italian sausage too. Or the polish sausage. Hmm. But this is- That's flavorful, isn't it? It's a little spicy. It, it tastes very, like, grilled in a good way. Hmm. Okay. All right. We're ready. Hold the vote, then discuss. Make your choices in three, two, one. Great bread. So was this your second choice? Yeah. So I- The wiener's just kind of normal ... his first choice was my second choice and vice versa. All right. I really like the sweetness in this. Rhett, you chose the, uh, Wurstküche bratwurst. Oh, I did. That's just our mid price point for $11. Ooh. Uh, Wurstküche means sausage kitchen. I thought, oh, okay, I thought that was gonna be from the Wurstküche. But we think this one is from, um- Dog Haus. The Dog Haus. Yep, that is the low price point from Dog Haus for $8.99. It's good, and their bun is great, and their hot dogs are crazy good. Have, ha- I've only had their burgers, 'cause they put their burgers on Hawaiian buns too, right? I don't know, but their hot dogs are great. Yes. You gotta have one of their hot dogs. Oh, snap, we need to go to The Dog Haus. It's the cheapest. The others were from, uh, our fancy option from Wirtshaus for 17. This is fancy? That's fancy. And then our high price, price point was Red Lion Tavern for 15 bucks. Yeah, this is l- this is- A little too authentic ... a little too much for me. A little too authentic for us. I love being cheap and happy, though. Woo, yeah. All right, these are jerk chicken wings from Jamaica. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. That's where you went on your honeymoon. You got a flat? I'm getting me a flat. I'm getting a flat and doing the lollipop technique. Hmm. It's a dry rub. Mm. I like dry rubs on my meat. I, I just don't like wet rubs. Ooh, that's spicy. I love a jerk wing. That is so good. It's a lot more heat than flavor in that one for me. Oh, I think it's got both, but- Whoosh. And this one here is just golden yellow. Hmm. Hmm. It's good. I don't think it's good. It's not bad. It's just not crispy at all. It's not what you expect. I thought what you said about the first one- I need more ... heat without flavor is what's happening there. This felt like flavor and heat. I can't even tell if I'm getting heat over here because- No, it's still hot. There's so much heat in the first one. But it's a lot of, like, the skin just isn't popping, you know? These are beautiful. What do we got here? Beautiful and not broken. And it's the whole wing. Mm-hmm. With that funny little part, the funny little wing part. What do they say in the Fuji song when he's talking about the chicken wings in one of those interstitials? I don't really go back and listen to the skits. Um, there is a sweetness in this one. In addition to the spiciness. That's a good wing, but I feel like I gotta go back to this one and figure out what happened. It's so charred in such a good way. Hmm. I hid a little bit of my first one so I could go back to it. Hmm. I wonder if one of these places is the Jamaican place that we went to- Next to the um- ... after we shot that thing at the cemetery. Yeah, the concert place at the, at the dead people place. The Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Yeah, there you go. The Jamaican place next to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, we went in there and we had to, like, yell into the kitchen to get somebody to come out and know that there were customers. It was a little bit strange, but it tasted good. It's a laid-back culture. Yeah. All right. Let's make your choices in three, two, one. See, I knew what we were gonna do. I went for a little sweet over spice. They're v- it... They're very good. They're probably the fancy ones. They got all the wings, the wing parts on them. Uh, Rhett, you chose our mid price point from The Jerk Spot for $9.99. Okay. Um, and Link, you chose our fancy option- Oh ... for $16 from Bridgetown Roti. Uh, since you picked the fancy option, you get to do a fancy pants dance. Unfortunately, zombie Moochelle has gone missing, so please welcome, uh, Moochelle's mother, Meemoo. Okay. Wow. Moochelle had a mom. Moochelle She's got a bad back. Take it easy, mama. Whoa. She still loves to dance, though. Whoa. She loves dancing. All right. Get out of here. Wow. Yeah, she loves dancing. I got to vouch for these, man. She's moving, moving out of here pretty slowly. So now I've gone from being cheap to being super fancy. That's right. $14 for those wings. And I didn't even pay for them to pull the wings apart. Yeah, you gotta do that yourself. And, uh, the other one was our low price point from Sprouts for $8.98. Sprouts is not doing it, man. Uh-uh. They're not doing it. Nope. When we go on adventures, leaving this desk behind, but not each other, we like to film some vlogs for you. We actually went to a red carpet event of sorts. Yes. And Mythical Chef Josh came with us. Also, my daughter, Lily, came with us, and we're posted that, we posted that as a vlog over on the Mythical Society exclusively, so join All Access now to watch that vlog. Okay, what do you call this again, Chase? I call it Spanakopita from Greece. Spanakopita? So it's not spanakopita. I mean, some people do call it spanakopita, and that's- Spana- ... what the pronunciation guide in front of me says. Oh, okay. But I've always said spanakopita. Oh, really? So it just kinda rolled off the tongue. What, what, for real, which one is it? Spanak, it's spanakopita. It's spanakopita is- Spanakopita I love this stuff man. Phyllo dough, spinach. There's so many layers. you've ever seen an old Greek grandma making this stuff on the internet? With just one layer after another. It's very spinach-y. Yeah. Not as much cheesy. Yeah. This one is a beautiful circle. And these are little... Like, hand pies? Hand-rolls? Triangle pieces. Hmm. This one's a lot cheesier. Got a spinach and artichoke dip vibe in there. You're a spinach guy. Nope. We were doing smoo- smoothies. I do kale smoothies, you do spinach smoothies. I d- I'm a raw spinach in my smoothie guy, yeah. But like- I think spinach tastes better than kale, but the kale, I read somewhere that you're more likely to get kidney stones with spinach than kale. Huh. Well, that's why I don't eat. And my dad and my brother both had those, so I just went kale. But I prefer this one. Does the first one even haves cheese? Haves cheese? Does it haves cheese? Yes. The, the, the second one haves cheese. This one looks very- Oh ... very buttery. The, the dough. What? Phyllo dough? Yeah. It looks, yeah, it looks pretty real. I'm feeling that dough, boy. Good Lord, that's good. Good Mythical More-licious. There are versions that come without cheese and egg, uh, during, like, Lent and other, like, religious, uh, fasts. But usually, yeah, always cheese, always egg. Feta. That's the best dough But it also looks like it might be the simplest one Super greasy. This is a long one. It's been cut. Got a nice cross-section there. Hm. Good on the cheese. Mm-hmm. Mm. I don't wanna be tasting the spinach. I wanna be tasting the cheese. That's why the first one is just out the door for me. This is pretty ch- uh, spinach heavy, too. Hm. Hm. Huh. Huh. Eh. Heh? What? Those last two are really good. Hm. I'm having to eat so much of it to just to know what I'm thinking about it. Okay One of these is, like, very balanced. Every flavor that you want, you're getting. I'm ready. All right. Three, two, one. Wa-ping. Dude, that is so good. I mean, 'cause this one was just about the dough, but this one's about everything. That is a great spanakopita. It's the standard. So you both chose the mid price point option from Nick the Greek. It's actually a new menu item for them. Way to go, Nick. Uh, it's $6.95. You're doing it right, Nick. You hit the, hit the spot. And then you also had the, uh, low price point from Trader Joe's for $4.99. This one? That one, yep. Yep. From our, right next to that is our high price point from George's Greek Grill for 10 bucks, and then the fancy option from Greek Bistro for $15. Nick bringing it home with the new menu item. Doing good, too. Keep going, man. Don't stop, Nick. Or maybe it's short for Nicole. Don't stop, Nicole- Keep going, girl. Just in case. All right. These are Cuban sandwiches from, uh, uh- Cuba? Spanakopita ... Cub- They're from Cuba. Spanakopita. Uh- Spanakopita ... in a second, uh, a second ago, we were told- Spanakopita ... uh, that we were saying spanakopita. That's not right. Spanakopita. Spanakopita. Spanakopita And so if you, uh, took it- Spanakopita upon yourself to make a comment earlier- Spanakopita ... when we were saying it wrong- Spanakopita ... uh, you can now delete that comment. Spanakopita. Uh, or you could just now re- Actually, you know what? For engagement purposes, please reply to the comment that you made- And apologize ... and apologize. For not giving us the benefit of the doubt that we would come right back and correct it. And if we've just said it again wrong- Leave another comment without- ... leave another comment. Oh, it's a good day behind this desk. I love a Cuban sandwich, man. I love it when I get it, 'cause I just rarely do, and it's roasted pork, Swiss cheese, ham, pickles, and is it mayo? Mustard usually. Mustard It's a nice flavor combination. This is not one of the best ones I've ever had. I'll just be honest with you, this first one. The pork is pretty good, though. It's not bad. But they can be so good. I don't feel like I need the ham on that one. But then it wouldn't be a Cubano. It's just, that one's just all about the pork. I'm not, I'm not tasting the complete thing- There's lots of cheese in this one ... is really what I'm trying to say. Whoa, this one wants to talk to me. Hello. Thicker ham, lots of cheese. The bread is more what I like on this one. Pressed down. Definitely getting the mustard. But the pork is- It's almost just like- kind of an afterthought ... it's kinda just like pulled pork, which a lot of the really good ones I've had before have a little bit less altered meat like that. I like that one. I, I mean, I'm getting so much mustard. You're not a mustard guy. Well, I wanna taste everything. Look how fat this one is. Now, this one- Look at that. This one's got some promise to it. The ham looks normal, and I swear that's mayo. It is. And, and mustard. Mm-hmm. There's definitely mayo on this. Hmm. What are you getting? The pork has a smoky flavor to it that tastes, um, a little bit- Hmm. Hmm. That bite was better. It's smoked, but then it's also fried. The pork is, like, pan-fried or something. I don't know. I'm gonna have to keep eating to find out. Lot of mayo. Ugh. Hmm. Huh. I think I'm gonna have to go back. Yeah. Well, look at this. Look at the layers. This is slices, not pulled. Interesting. I have to assume Porto's is up here, one of these. And I think we may have just eaten it. But you know what happens when you assume, Link. Sometimes I'm right. Yeah, that's ... Yeah, sometimes. Hmm. I gotta go through 'em. Sorry. This one's the easiest to eat, and just as one thing. Like, it's a unit, because everything is sliced and biteable. I like that about it. They're all very different. This one has clearly the best pork. It has the pork that's been mixed with the most other stuff. Let me go back. I don't know if I would call it the best pork in my opinion, but it is the most mixed up pork. Like, there's, there's, like, the pickles are mixed into the pork. Yeah, green stuff. Green things. Huh. All right. This is tough. This is tough. But what a privilege. I just wanna say how grateful I am to be able to sit here and eat from four different restaurants without doing anything besides lifting a finger. I wanna say how hard it is to do this, uh, because, you know, I wanted to make the right choice, and I feel so much pressure. Uh, and when I get pressure and I get nervous, I get hungry. Yeah. I mean, you can eat more after, too. All right. Make your choice in three, two, one. What? Oh, you're going with that one? Let me taste this one again. Just the pork itself is so important to me that I had to go with that one. But this is my second choice over here. Well, Link, your first choice was our mid price point from La Bamba for 12.95. And Rhett, you picked our fancy option from Made in Havana for 18.50. And you know what that means. 18.50? What does that mean, Chase? Why did you choose this? 'Cause I thought it tasted the best. Well, you could be more specific. Dance with the cute old lady. Where do I h- where do I touch you? Can I touch you? Do you have ear consent? You're not gonna hurt yourself, are you? I am. You're like you're steering her like a- I am. I'm, I'm worried, I'm worried, I'm worried for her. I'm worried for her. Oh, whoa. I heard something snap. That was my back. Uh, you know the reason I chose this one? Is because it was the most Cuban uh, Cuban looking Cuban sandwich up here. With the way the- You fighting off a burp? Yep. No, I didn't fight it, it happened. Um, the way the bread was, and the cheese. Okay. Uh, the high, uh, next one, uh, is the high price point from Mofongo for $14.99. Nice. And lastly- Porto's ... Link, your second favorite from Porto's, $9.19. Porto's does good work. None of them are bad. People line up around the block. None of them are bad. But La Bamba got my heart here. Yeah, my heart's racing, too. Um, all right. So Rhett, your, uh, ideal price total was $46.44. Oh, yeah. And Link, yours was $44.89. Pretty close. Yep. Okay. Well I guess we can st- we can keep eating together then. Yep, we can keep eating together. You can't pin us down. Thanks for commenting and sharing this video. You know what time it is.
