GMM 374: Do You Sleep Too Much?

do you sleep too much do I let’s talk about that good mythical morning thank you for making us a part of your daily routine amongst other things that you do every day which means your teeth brushing your teeth you should floss which may include flossing and most definitely probably includes sleeping which is the discussion of today something happened to me which raised questions in my own mind which I was prone to Google and now discuss in this episode of good mythical aura okay over this past weekend my family had an engagement to attend to that was a play Lily’s friend was in a play heard about this and I decided I opted out and I also opted out because Lando just I mean as not even a four year old yeah I just don’t know how he’s gonna relate um if he’s if he’s gonna cause a scene how he’s gonna relate to a play yeah I don’t well you know you got to buy a ticket like a 15 dollar ticket there you go I didn’t want to get to the bottom of I don’t want to pay $15 something he ain’t gonna relate to or distract other people who’ve paid money to see right so Christy honey I’m not related besides okay me and Lena will hang out during the you know two or three hours that you guys are at this engagement quite a commitment but we all want to spend time as a family so we drive them there to Pasadena long drive you know and then we’ll just go and hang out a coffee shop or something so Lando falls asleep on the way there in the minivan of course that’s what they all do I drop off the rest of the family at the play and then I Drive over to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf or some some sort of coffee house yeah and because I’m thinking I can get Wi-Fi in a parking lot while Lando sleeps there’s quite a lot of cheapskate endeavors that are happening back to back to back I’d only pay $40 for the play no not yet free Wi-Fi no I’m considerate hey you’re a good citizen I’m considerate of the other goods there I’m considered of Lando’s experience and I’m considered of him sleeping and I don’t wake him up and drag him into some coffee shop right so I pull into the parking lot I’m like hey at least I can look on my phone or try you just want to access to the bandwidth and I said yeah I couldn’t get access from the parking yeah I got a goodbye coffee so I’m like well I can look back there Lando’s asleep we’ve no Wi-Fi the 4G is kind of lacking at this point yeah and I just our seats are put my power seats though yeah I splurged on power seats it goes back and I’m just I’m off to Dreamland within five minutes Wow I wake up um sleeping in the car an hour and 15 minutes later whoa Lando is still asleep in the backseat and I just been sleeping like like a dude like a lot of people in around LA who live out of their car not true uh and of course like I said I was in the parking lot and there were cars I could tell I could I remember hearing cars pull up beside me and people get out of their cars like I’m sure they were looking in and seeing this guy just a dude sleeping totally good you just go straight back and I went leaning to the side or do you do you get you get on the side like in a fetal position you note your knees up yeah I thought about it it wasn’t that comfortable but no I just I just leaned back and I I did put my head this way so it was like even open and then open your mouth yeah then the people who got out of their car doors they were like seeing me it was like some weird human exhibit at a zoo and he don’t look don’t look in the van look at that man but it occurred to me that I fell asleep so easily and slept for such a long time yeah having still had a full night’s sleep the night before that maybe I have a problem boy I mean I’m I’m not a three year old who has to have a nap the fact that I can go to sleep this easily and here’s another factor I had to pee the whole time oh that’s a tough sleep but not for me I remember thinking I I can’t go use the bathroom just kind of speed yourself no not for me I’m not good no that’s not me I’m not gonna I had I’m not gonna wake up Lander to use the bathroom I’m not gonna let him sleep this up and but I did have to pee but then I fell asleep anyways and I had to pee a lot like I mean there was a tension that I was still able to easily overcome and go to sleep so then I started thinking so tell it do I sleep too much do I have a problem is this something I should have checked out is this something that I should address I mean every night right you go to bed earlier than I do at 10:30 every night you go to bed it’s 10:30 and you wake up at what time 7:00 a.m. maybe 7:30 okay so you you’re talking nine hours eight and a half nine hours of sleep every night I mean at least eight is recommended so you’re you’re getting adequate sleep you’re actually getting a little bit more than adequate sleep but then you’re still finding the ability to nap at other times yeah yeah I could I can take a nap right here right now well because I care about you Linc and because I like to be able to inform the mythical beast about things I’ve taken upon myself to do a little research okay just you’re you you’re going to determine uh if I sleep too much well I sleep just about seven and a half to eight hours and I actually seven to nine is the prescriptive amount for people our age now your son who is three he is supposed to sleep for 12 to 14 hours a day and that will all happen at the same time so it’s totally not normal for him that he’s my guy yeah he’s gonna sleep he has an excuse but he’s three I don’t it isn’t I’m not homeless it isn’t necessarily abnormal that you took a little van siesta but it could point to a larger problem and that is the quality of the sleep that you are experiencing each night so people who sleep too much which I think you’re borderline usually sleep not too well seven to nine hours yet but then you’re sleeping again you can fall asleep at any point yeah like at this point in my life if I get adequate sleep I cannot nap during the day when I try I lay down I never open the mouth my jaw never relaxes that never happens ever open them off that’s the key that you’ve gone to sleep it could be because of five different things okay first thing is this this may be reasons that you’re not sleeping the sleep apnea you have sleep apnea is that that’s like snoring right this is like serious like stopping yourself breathing at night my mom has has dealt with this you have to wear like a special map mask and if somebody has sleep apnea you use like a pig’s eye was like a no choking on you won’t know it works oh yeah so your wife would probably food quick okay big choking on pork haha what do you mean evil self Wow I should be honest I said you you sound like a big girl up toward your sleep environment your sleep environment may be inadequate tell me about your sleep environment other than the Vans I sleep in a bed usually my wife and I sleep in a double bed yes close quarters I have seen your bed I’ve walked through your bedroom a couple of times but while you’re home and and I have noticed that uh your bed is very small your bed is the size of the bed that I slept in as a child and the two of you are in there now that would be a problem for me my wife and I have a California king size bed we well you have to sleep on that diagonally just your feet don’t hang on no it’s eighty or eighty four inches long man that’s not my problem I’m fine with that you’re finally constant contact in the middle of the night I think so yeah I intimacy uh parenting are you a parent yes yeah I having to deal with children coming in and out you kids wake up in the middle of night they cause disturbances no are you depressed because sometimes people who are depressed right wake up and then they will then they’ll start sleeping again if I was depressed would now be the time for me to price you and discuss that now no I’m not do you have another medical problem oh the catch-all I don’t think so I think you’re just a sleeper that’s my professional analysis is the mo k you’re just a guy who likes to take a siesta there’s nothing wrong with it well I hope you feel better thanks maybe you’re waking up constantly just don’t remember it you need a cam you need a sleep cam or your wife needs to wear a head cam or you can just put a camera somewhere on the bed you should start
