(rooster crows) (lion roars) – Welcome to “Good Mythical More.” How well do we, and you know your current television, as relevant as that is? – But first let’s play not a game, Merchicality. It’s the game where we recognize someone who wore Mythical merch in the wild, and they get a $30 Mythical.com gift card, and that is Kane Keele. – [Link] Kane? – [Rhett] Kane Keele. – [Link] You’ve done it. – Rocking that Merchicality out in the wild. So just, you know, #Merchicality, when you’ve got the merch, post it, we might see it. – Be your mythical best. – Give you that $30 gift certificate. – Look at that, look at those condos. Wow. – [Rhett] Yeah, brick almost all the way to the top. – [Link] Is that, is that a vaccination card? It is. – We’re not giving those out at Mythical.com, but we do encourage you to find them on your own. – Okay. – [Stevie] You guys know about TV? – No, let’s see though. – I’ve seen Wade Boggs on it sometimes. – All right, is it still on or is it long gone? We got it. – [Stevie] These are all TV shows that feel like they have always been on and always will be on, you know what I’m saying? Like a lot of soap opera situations. – Oh, okay, got you. – [Stevie] So it’ll be more clear why you’ll question whether or not these exist anymore. – Okay. – [Stevie] “Touched By an Angel.” – “Touched By an Angel?” – [Stevie] Is about a trio of angels that travel the earth, inspiring people at crossroads in their lives to turn to God. – Yeah, I remember. – [Stevie] But the angels aren’t only teaching people. They’re also learning lessons themselves. – This is an old show. – There’s no way it’s still on, but it was, it was at least one woman, woman angel. – It was like Michael Landon’s company produced it. Yeah, like Michael Landon was like, everything I’m gonna do is gonna have something about an angel in it. – ‘Cause he, what was his show called? – Well, “Little House on the Prairie.” – No, the one. – And then he was– – The return, “Highway to Heaven.” – What was the premise of “Highway to Heaven?” – Morgan? Okay. He was an angel I believe. But then this was more angels. This is not on anymore. – Yeah, it’s long, long gone for sure. – [Stevie] Yeah. You’re right. It ended in 2003 after nine seasons, ran from 1994 to 2003. – Yeah, kind of all went to hell in a hand basket, didn’t it? – Yeah, but it did make it through Y2K. – Let’s see another one. – [Stevie] “All My Children,” set in the upscale town of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, a fictional suburb of Philadelphia, “All My Children” revolves around the intertwined relationships and secrets of several families. – Now okay. – Christina, what was her name? She never won a Daytime Emmy and everyone was talking about it for years. Who? – [Stevie] Susan Lucci? – Susan Lucci, not Christina Ricci. – Christina Ricci, Susan Lucci. – Now is Susan on the same one where Victor is on? – No, that’s that’s “Young and the Restless.” – I was on, I was in like a waiting room at some point. – When Wade Boggs says his, sorry. When he mentions his ring, he winks. When I mention “Young and the Restless,” I wink. – Good for you. And I saw Victor and I was like, Victor was old 25 years ago and he’s still on the show, but that’s not that. – He’s not older now. This has gotta be still on. – All of the soaps are on. – “All My Children.” – All the big ones are still on. – [Stevie] No, it is not on. It ended in 2011 after 41 years. – Yeah, “Bold and the Beautiful” took its slot. – [Stevie] 1970 to 2011, and Kelly Ripa and her husband met on the show in 1995. I like Kelly Ripa, she funny. – I could never, I could never be in a soap opera because you gotta, you gotta memorize so many lines, and then keep saying them. – That’s the only reason. – Like again and again, like they shoot so much. – Well, your father-in-law, correct me if I’m wrong, still tapes a soap opera on VHS and watches it. – Uh, I mean, I haven’t asked him about it in five years, not that we haven’t talked. – About that. – But I will ask him about it. But yeah, as of five years ago, he was still taping his programs. – Wow. – [Stevie] Which one? – It might’ve been “Young and the Restless,” I’m not sure. I’m not sure. This is fascinating to me though. Let’s continue. – Yeah. – [Stevie] “NCIS” or “Naval Criminal Investigative Service,” I really sold that one, is about a team of investigators that covers crimes ranging from murder and espionage to terrorism, which also have a connection to Navy and Marine Corps. – Dan Harmon, or Ron Harmon. – [Stevie] Not Dan Harmon. – I know who you’re talking about. – [Stevie] Mark. – Mark Harmon. – This, I think this is, I think this is off. – I love Mark Harmon. – I think Mark Harmon, I think he hung it up like two years ago. – No, he’s he moves from one show to another. He’s always on because the moms and grandmas cannot get enough of that Mark Harmon. – Yeah. – He’s been in like three different shows. – But this isn’t about Mark Harmon, this is about “NCIS.” – Mark Harmon is still on. It is still on, “NCIS.” – [Stevie] It’s still on, after 18 seasons, first aired in 2003, and Harmon plays Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. – Leroy Jethro. – Are any of y’all. – Hogging the dumb names. – Anybody watch this? Anybody here watch “NCIS?” Oh, tweet, Twinkie Fingies did for a little bit. Like for how long? There’s a couple of years. – You’re an old soul. – [Stevie] Which one? – “NCIS.” – [Stevie] The main, is that the main one? – You’re getting it confused with “CSI Miami.” – [Stevie] Well no, because my next one is “NCIS: New Orleans.” – Oh yes, with LL Cool J. – [Stevie] Follows Agent Dwayne Pride, who leads a team out of New Orleans NCIS field office, investigates crimes affecting military personnel. – Scott Bacula. – [Stevie] He’s a local guy with a drive to do the right thing. – Yeah, that’s Scott Bacula. – [Stevie] Yeah, it is. – Of “Quantum Leap.” – He’s the new Malcolm, Malcolm Gladwell. Now he’s the new Michael Landon. – Bacula? – Yeah, Scott Landon. – I think he’s an edgy Landon. I think Bacula is more edgy. – Can we see the Wade Boggs thing again? I was in such a strange head space. Can we watch it again? Or do we have to pay him more? – Link, Rhett, it’s a baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. I understand you guys have a problem with the way my bar (inhales deeply) smells. It smells like the Hall of Fame. You guys owe me a big smelly apology. – I don’t– – There’s a lot to like about that. – I don’t think we apologized, did we? Did we? – No, not directly. – Should we now? – No, ’cause I wanted to make another video. – I like angry Boggs. – I want him to demand it. I mean. – Yeah. We’re holding out. – He definitely has, I think maybe he made a wrestling appearance at some point in his, in his fame. You know what I’m saying? ‘Cause the crowd would have gone wild. Wade Boggs comes in, everybody who’s into wrestling is gonna be into that. – He smelled his bar, but then he hid it behind his back. – He’s a little ashamed of it. It’s old. But man, I mean, look, he’s got his bat up there. He’s got gold plated cleats over his right shoulder. A bunch of trophies, and the smelling moment, it was, I mean. – [Link] Yeah, go to this sniff moment. Yeah, there it is. (laughs) – [Rhett] He almost looks like– – [Link] This is such a thrill. – He looks like he could be a Bond villain. Like go back to where his, when his mouth is open, like that, Wade Boggs could take a bite out of a baseball like an apple. You know what I’m saying? Like that is a powerful jaw. Look at that thing. He’s got goatee power. – Yeah, just his goatee wraps around his mouth and gives his mouth more biting power. – Yeah, yeah. It’s like that tape that you put on yourself when you go to the physical therapist, but it’s a goatee around your mouth. – All right. – He’s got, he’s also got bracelets in addition to rings. Are there, are those like– – [Link] So many stories. – [Rhett] Is that just like a cool beaded bracelet? Or is that like something you get for being a baseball player? Are those little baseballs? I think they’re probably little baseballs. – [Link] They’re little baseballs, yeah. – Yeah, but it’s only when you look closely. – I think there’s like some sort of, some sort of element in the bracelets that gives him power. – He definitely seems like a super hero. (crew murmurs) He did? – Yeah, Mr. Perfect. – It was written all over it. – Mr. Perfect. – This guy has been trained by whoever directs those, those wrestling interstitials, because he went right into that mode. – You talking about Kurt Henning? (crew murmurs) Okay Carney. – There you go. – Now Carney’s excited. – Yeah, because Carney really likes wrestling. I like the way he’s pointing. Look at that, man, you know what he could do with those hands? He could crush, he could crush your neck. He would just take it and he would just, he would grab it and crush it. And it would, you would die. You would die right in front of Wade Boggs. – Are we, are we doing this? Or are you repeating something he’s done? Is this his mythology or are you creating it? – Just look at him. – Okay. – That’s Wade Boggs, man. Now see, you weren’t a baseball fan growing up. But if I could go back to young fan, young, like eight year old Rhett and say, and if my dad was there, because my dad was the one who was really into baseball, and I was like, “dad, you know, when I’m 43, me and Link are gonna be sitting at a desk with one microphone. We’re gonna be looking at a video from the Wade Boggs.” – Yeah. – Where he talks to us directly and demands an apology from us for making fun of his very old candy bar, which will come out in three years from now. But will be like 30 years old by the time we make the video. – What? – And my dad would be like “this is crazy!” – Yeah, this is a milestone. – Yeah. – And you were here for it. Let’s hear another one. – [Stevie] Well, you didn’t answer the very important “NCIS: New Orleans” question. – I said that, I said that it was long gone and I was wrong. – [Stevie] It’s off the air. – Oh it is? – [Stevie] Ended with its seventh and final season on May of 2021, so just, just ended, just missed that one. – Did you come up with a new “NCIS?” Is that what just happened? – [Stevie] What? – I thought you said the one with Harmon was on? – [Stevie] That one we already answered. That one is still on. – Right, he’s on. He’s always on. I’m telling you, he will work. – [Stevie] This one was “NCIS: New Orleans.” – Oh yeah, that one’s long gone. – [Stevie] This is going well. Set in the glamorous world of the Los Angeles fashion scene, “The Bold and the Beautiful” focuses on the wealthy and powerful Forrester family. Its company, Forrester Creations, is the leader in the fashion industry. Add in rival businesses and families and you’ve got a classic soap set up. – I had no idea that that was like, I’ve never thought about what the setting and the plot for a soap opera was. There’s a family business that’s like a fashion business? – [Stevie] Forrester Creations. – Oh yeah. – I have no idea. – [Stevie] It reminds me of all of the top fashion companies in Los Angeles. – I just thought it was like rich people who went to each other’s houses and there was never any sort of like. – Well, they either sleep with each other or visit each other in hospitals. – There’s lots of hospitals. – That’s what happens on soap operas. – Because people do get sick. – They have, those are the two sets. – Well they gotta use that set. – King bed and in an adjustable bed. – Someone’s always laying down, depending. – Right, right, that’s the criteria. – Someone’s always horizontal. This is still on. – Right, in fact, if there’s a scene where people aren’t horizontal, they print it on the script vertical so you’ll know. – So you’ll know. Right. Everybody’s standing up for the scene. – No, I actually think this is long gone. – [Stevie] It’s still on, and it premiered in 1987, which was the year I was born. – They churn that stuff out. – [Stevie] 8,000 episodes. – It’s amazing. – We’ll never catch up with “The Bold and the Beautiful.” – [Stevie] I like this, notable guest stars include Fabio, the Laker girls, Usher, and Perez Hilton. – Okay, so do you think we could get on? – [Stevie] For sure. – We could get on “The Bold and the Beautiful?” – [Stevie] Yeah, should we make this happen? – Yes! I mean, I didn’t grow this hair out for nothing. I want to be horizontal on “Bold and the Beautiful.” – But I want to be mute. I don’t want to learn any lines. – So Link is gonna play a mute man, and I’m gonna just be horizontal in a bed. I could be injured or just sexy. – You want a love scene? You want a love scene. – [Stevie] Why don’t we just write it right now? I’m sure they’ll just put it in. – I want a mute hospital love scene. That’s what I want. – I, listen, I’ll take love scene, but I really, I just want to also just play like a nurse that comes in and it’s like, “you’re gonna die.” – All the love scenes are like from the, they’re from like the shoulders up. – It’s tasteful. You don’t have to get naked. – [Stevie] Yeah, what if this is a one-line situation? We could just write the line now and then, and then see if you could be on as that character saying the line that you wanna say. – Yeah. – Well, I don’t want to box them in too much. I mean, this is “The Bold and the Beautiful” we’re talking about. – [Stevie] I think they’re looking for stuff at this point. – I mean, I can come in and say, “sometimes I’m bold, sometimes I’m beautiful.” – I shouldn’t be. – You be the choice. That’s also the name of the show. – You be the choice? All right, if they could work that in, I’m tuning in. Sometimes I’m bold, sometimes I’m beautiful. You be the choice. – Yeah, it’s, yeah, right. I’m kind of coming in as someone who’s learning English. I’m like, I’m like a Croatian man. You be the choice. – And again, I don’t have any lines. – [Stevie] So you want to be, Rhett is gonna be a Croatian man. And Link is gonna be mute is what we’ve decided. – Yeah. – [Stevie] Okay. – He’s not gonna be mute, he’s just not going to speak. I don’t want to, you know, he’s just not gonna have an occasion to speak. – [Stevie] Let’s see if we can make that happen. – Let me give a quick promo here. The show revolves around the family’s relationships as they adjust a small town life. – No Viagra jokes. I think this is an HBO show. – I think you’re thinking about– – “Deadwood,” oh. No Viagra jokes. – Yeah, I think they would work either, either one. – Exactly. You be the decision. What was your thing? – You be the choice. I think this is long gone. – This is long gone. This is an easy one. – [Stevie] Yeah, I remember “Everwood.” It was on the WB. – Oh! – [Stevie] Wasn’t the CW, 2002 to 2006, and it starred Chris Pratt. Well, I mean, Chris Pratt was the brother in it I think. – So pre “Parks and Rec.” – [Stevie] But it was like, yeah, it was good, good WB teen soapy times. – So there was no like supernatural element. – [Stevie] No, that was “Supernatural.” – That was everything on CW after that. – Okay. – [Stevie] Oh my gosh. “Supernatural” is about two brothers, Sam and Dean. – People still talk about it like it’s on. – [Stevie] Who were raised by their father to hunt mysterious and demonic creatures after losing their mother to a supernatural force. You always got to lose the mother, is what we’ve learned about CW. – I think this is still on. – Lily was really into this, and so I know that it, it ended in like the last two years. – [Stevie] Correct. It ended in 2020, but it started in 2005, so 15 seasons. – Wow, that’s impressive. – I watched a couple of episodes with her. – Not for you? – No, it wasn’t, it wasn’t for me. I thought, I mean, honestly, I thought that the main guy, it sounded like he was doing a fake voice, and if that’s his real voice, I’m sorry. – Yeah, and just to clarify. – It sounded like he was making his voice lower than it actually was. So he was like constantly trying. – Talking like, yeah. – He’s like constantly trying. – [Stevie] Aren’t there two main guys? – Yeah, but one of them was doing this the whole time. – Not, not the, yeah, burned guy. – [Stevie] Was it Dean from “Gilmore Girls?” – No, the other one. – [Stevie] Okay, all right. That’s fine. – His voice, it seemed like he was really trying. – I won’t be doing that as the Croatian man. I’ll just be, I’m gonna be using my totally normal, I won’t do an accent. – We went to high school with a guy who– – Started doing that. – He would, he, he intentionally lowered his voice, I don’t know, to seem more mature in high school. – And then it just became his voice. – And then he committed to it for the rest of his life. – But it still sounds like he’s trying to be low. – As a middle aged man, he’s still like. – [Stevie] Okay, this is your last one. “Maury.” Do you say Maury, or you say Maury? – We know “Maury” is still on. – I say Maury. – We know that. – I want more, that’s how I remember that. – [Stevie] Okay, you’re you’re both saying yes, it’s on? – Oh yeah. – Yeah. – [Stevie] Yeah. You’re right. It started in 1991. So it’s gone for 30 seasons. – As long as there’s questionable paternity, “Maury” will continue. – Man, Maury. Maury’s gonna go until you can’t go anyMaury. – [Link] To get the Mythical Society onesie, join third grade monthly by July 31st or quarterly or annual plan by September 30th.
