GMMore 2856: Trying Swig Soda Drinks Taste Test

Welcome to Good Mythical More. What did you just say? Oh, come on. Indiana is not that bad, but it’s not as good as wherever you’re at is what I tried to say. But it’s not as good as wherever you’re at. That’s what I tried to say, but I couldn’t say I got hung up on a wherever, but it’s not as good as wherever, wherever you’re at. But what if you are in Indiana? They’re not. They were on the beach. Oh, them. Oh, I forgot who you were talking to. This is confusing on multiple levels. It really is. You remember when we tasted swig? I thought he was talking to you. Swig sodas. Yeah. We’re gonna do that again. [Stevie gasps]. And we have, we have an actual Mormon housewife here to tell us about each one of these. Yes. Yes. Yes! But first, let’s boogie down now. What?! [electric music playing] All the way in from Salt Lake City, Utah. [Crew]: Damien, yeah! We have, we have the most electric personality on that show. What’s her name? Yeah. Becky? Whit– Whitney? Taylor. Yeah. Probably a Taylor. Taylor. Taylor, are you there? [Stevie]: Hey y’all! We’ve been, we we’re totally caught up, on the show. Same. It’s my life. I, I, I kind of have a little southern accent, but not really. ’cause I live in Utah. That’s right. You got you. I’m having a rough morning because I forgot what I sounded like, but if you could remind me what my accent sounds like, that would be helpful. Uh, well… No, it’s great how it is. I think, I think the way it’s evolving a little bit. It, it’ll. It’ll, it’ll work out the kinks. I think everything about it is great. Yeah. Do you want me to continue? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’re glad to have you. So, I mean, you don’t have to be that excited the whole time, but Okay. I’ll try and be less excited, but somehow the character is just excitement, so. Oh, wow. It’s gonna be difficult. Got unexcited and it was Stevie. Oh yeah. It sounded, oh, is that Stevie? I think when, when you became unexcited, you sounded like someone we know, somebody we know. That’s so weird, but I’m back. Uh, I’m, I’ve curated some of my favorite drinks off the swig menu for y’all or for, I don’t know what they say in Utah. Do they say y’all? Yeah. Yeah. For y’all. Yeah. Uh, these are peachy. Uh, which one you wanna try first? Uh, you mean all the ones that we’re about to try Peach? No, the ones in front of you were peachy. Oh, both of these are peachy. They’re both peachy. How long do you think, what did we see? Her name was Becky. What’s her name? Whitney. What was her name? Taylor. Taylor. Hey Taylor. That’s me. Yes. Um, if you, if you turn around, I think if you turn around and just, you’ll see a blonde woman. Okay. She’s like a little fair skinned. Yeah. She’s, she’s, um, she’s, if you, oh my god, I think I’m sitting on her. Oh, she’s there. Yeah. Yeah. If you just want to tap her on the shoulder and just say, Hey, if you wanna take it from here, that’s cool. Okay. I also like that idea because I was getting annoyed with myself. Okay. It’s me, old man Carney, you rang. No, we didn’t. No, we didn’t, we didn’t ring. This is, we’ve, we’ve, this is a…. And so guys, it’s weird because, uh, old man Carney turns out to be a blonde woman as well. We are in a, dangerous place right now. So Taylor was confused. Oh wow. Okay. I’m scared. I’m scared for the future of the show if we’re setting precedents. I’m excited about this and I’ve developed some new insight from local people to Utah share. Oh, really? That I will share. Oh, about Swig in particular? Mm-hmm. Uh, okay. Which one do you wanna taste first? Uh, the, I guess the light one. The light one. Well, you taste it. And then– I think I like, I like light drinks like this. Milky looking stuff. Oh, you can guess the name of it. Guess what’s in it and guess the name of it. Ah, it’s horrible. Oh yeah. You wouldn’t like it. Sorry, I forgot. Coconut? Dr. Pepper and cream. Coconut cream and peach cream. Creamed pepper. Peachy cocoa. These aren’t names you came up with, right? Peachy nut. Uh, no, these are names. This is like official swig menu drinks. Peachy nut. Um, and why are they peach? Is it the one that I don’t think it’s, I don’t think it does have coconut. No, it’s Dr. Pepper. It doesn’t. Oh, it has Dr. Pepper. Yes. Yes. I, that’s why so much. It has peach and Dr. Pepper. And then there’s two more things. Horchata mix and, uh, I don’t know. Fairy dust. I don’t know. Peach Dr. Pepper and cream. Yeah. Half and half and then one more flavor. That’s good. Cinnamon. I’m, I’m, I’m busted, man. I got nothing. Maple. Gimme a hint. Uh, it is an ice cream. It’s a, one of the basic ice creams. Vanilla. Vanilla ice cream. Yeah. Yeah. This is really good. Is it called a Dr. Pepper float? No. What’s it called? Dr. Peachy. I don’t taste the peach. You gotta think a little more swiggy. Sweaty? Swiggy. Wiggy. Swig. Like swig. The name of the think a little more punny. Think like cute. Dr. Swig. No. Pepper. Doctor Swig. I’m saying the names. Pepper in her step. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Dr. Pepper in her step. Okay. It’s centered around the, around peach though. Peachy, uh, peachy Cream. Princess Peach. Well, now you’ve guessed the name of the other drink, so that’s good. You’re ahead. Princess Peach? Yes. Princess Peach. That’s Princess Peach. But yes. Look at that. We just skipped ahead. Let’s try it. It is weird. What’s that? It’s better than that ’cause I– Grape soda? What is that? This, this, the froth on top is very thick. It’s almost like a marshmallow film. Can I just say that both of these– I don’t, I’m not talking about Ghostbusters. Both of these are markedly better than everything that we tasted last time. The ones that they’re making at Swig are way better than the ones that the Mormon wives were just making up. But you say that now, but I see what else is coming up for you. This is Coke? You might like these ’cause they both are– Oh no, they’re both Dr. Pepper based. What? Yeah, it’s just so, something about this was so bad that I didn’t even know this was Dr. Pepper. I never think about mixing Dr. Pepper with things, but with maybe I will. Is there, is there a fruit in there? Well, they’re both peach. Oh, peach. Peach, Dr. Pepper. And then there’s one other thing that you guessed for the other one. Coconut. Yeah. Coconut cream. Uh uh. Oh, I, and this one, I want to guess now other one’s called, has peach in it. Does it? Princess Peach is this one. Princess Peach is the dark one. All right, so this is, uh, princess…. Peaches. It has the word peach. But not peachy? Not peachy. Impeach. Peaches and cream. It’s very creamy. Peaches. Just what the doctor ordered. Um, it’s punny. Doctor my peaches. Dr. Peaches. Listen peaches. I cut you into peaches. The surgeon will cut you into peaches. What, a peach pun? Peach. Peach. Yeah, I know what you’re trying to do. Peach. Yeah, peach. You get it? That’s good. Uh, I think that’s all I got. Oh, shoot. I didn’t have anything else either. Life’s a Peach. Life’s a Peach. Life’s a– what’s in it, Dr. Pepper? Peaches. Vanilla. Vanilla, peach. Half and half. Half and half. Okay. As we bring, I like both of these and I do think that the Dr. Pepper went a long way, as we bring in the next two. I’m gonna tell you, um, I’ve recently made friends with some local, some local Utah people. Who, uh, are different states of– [Stevie] We could just do one. We could just do one by the way. Different states of Mormon hood. Wait, no. Put them back because I don’t think there’s two. And are these the same one? They looked like the same. One. One, yeah. Great. Good. Take it. Yeah. We have got former Mormons. We’ve got current Mormons and I had– Who’s we again? Me. Oh, that simplifies things. And, uh, I talked about a lot of things with them. They’re both local to the Salt Lake City area, and I’ve talked to them about these, these, uh, these sodas and, um. Have they knocked on your door? They are not, they don’t personally partake, but they said it is a cultural phenomenon and it is essentially, the concept roughly is that when you, um tamp down on some fun in certain places in life. It’s gonna pop up somewhere else. You push down on the fun. Oh yeah, yeah. It’s gonna pop up somewhere else. Whack-a-mole. You push down on caffeine or whatever, or you know, I don’t know, the things that you can’t do. Yeah. And then next thing you know. Illicit? Sugar. Woo! Oh, it’s sugar? It’s sugar and soaking. So those things are gonna pop up. I think there’s lots of other things that are, have to be pushed down as well. So I think your elbow needs to be over here on something. You know what I’m saying? You gotta twister this stuff. It’s a, it’s a whack-a-mole choice. So then the on, I mean once you get what you just said, I can’t even repeat it. Sugar and soaking? Yes. That’s gonna be the name of my soda shop. For that to be place where the mole pops up, you gotta be covering a lot of the holes, you know what I’m saying? You know what, I’m gonna open up a soda shop and the Salt Lake City area. And if you cover too many holes, you start to get a little constipated. But my soda shop’s gonna be called, soak it up, and it’s going to be sodas inside sponges. And so, so you, you get– I’ve heard it, I’ve heard a, a gross eiughhh. You get, you get a sponge just full of soda, no cups. That’s. No cups. Just free to the air. You take, you take a, you take a sponge out. Maybe, maybe, maybe you put it in a bag, like. It’s in a bag. Of course. Like, like cotton candy. It’s in a bag, it’s in a biodegradable bag and it– But it hangs upside down. You, you’re acting like it’s hanging from the ceiling. Yeah, you– Or floating? No, no. You hold it and you squeeze it into your mouth or your friend’s mouth. Soak it up. Okay. Have you guys been to soak it up? No Cups. I’ll consult with my– Just love. I’ll consult with my Mormon friends about this one. No cups, just love, dink it and sink it. Not a fan. It has a lime on top, which is– We’re back in, uh. It’s lime, but it’s…. The wives territory for, for me on this one. What’s the, um, cream? So it’s lime plus cream is like curdling at the top. It tastes like something from Thailand. Is there a Mountain Dew in there? [Stevie] No. There’s coconut. There’s definitely coconut. Yeah, there’s, there’s two kinds of coconut. There’s coconut cream, and then there’s another coconut that I think would probably bump you more. Coconut. Coconut jizz. Yes, there’s coconut jizz in that soda. That’s the pulp. Well, you said it would throw me and trust me, that would’ve thrown me. Yeah, right. Yeah. But it didn’t seem to throw you. No, we don’t serve that itself. It up. No, it’s, well, I’ll say it’s overall thank you, Carney, that, that gives you a, whatever that character’s name is credit later. Jizz.. For laughing at my joke there. There’s no sugar in the drink. Mm. So the fakeness– Artificial sweetener. Yeah. If they wouldn’t try to make, make it– There’s sugar free coconut. Tastes sweet, you’d be a lot closer to something I might like. You know what I’m saying? This is a huge miss for me. Would, would you, are you with me with the statement that I’m trying to make, which is we would prefer these not to be sweetened. I would prefer that, yes. You would prefer…. the soda drinks not to be sweet. Like for them to make, for them to craft, coffee, like drinks that like scratch a coffee itch. Oh wait, now hold. Hold on now. What the heck? We didn’t even go through all the ingredients. We didn’t talk about the names. Names. I know, but we are. Okay, hold on, hold on, hold– That’s on me. So it’s coconut. I definitely didn’t want that anymore. It is coconut and lime. It’s coconut cream, sugar free coconut, fresh lime, and then a soda base that we haven’t gotten. What’s that song about the lime in the coconut? The, I think it’s probably just a lime to coconut. You put ’em, you, you drink ’em both up. Put ’em together. That’s the lyrics. I’m telling you the lyrics. This is called the put ’em together. Well, the, and the soda base is, can you taste what the soda base is? Mm-hmm. Sprite. Weird. No, Sprite, really? Coconut. But it wouldn’t be– Coconut is so strong. It wouldn’t be that color. Well, it’s the cream. Oh, you mean it’s dark. Coke? It’s Coke. Pepsi. Diet Coke. Diet Coke? Yeah. Huh. I can kind of take, see, even with a Coke Zero, I, I just don’t want it. I, I don’t like the coconut part of it. Now this– Now that you told me it’s Diet Coke, I’m starting to feel differently about it. And? Like it more. Because? ‘Cause I know that it’s Diet Coke, ’cause I would’ve ordered it. You don’t, when you, you don’t get things not knowing what they are, you order them anticipating what it’s gonna be. Yeah. It’s like when you– Your pallets been wetted. It, it’s like when you’re at the family reunion and you grab a cup and just drink it and it turns out it’s, uh, tobacco spit. Nobody wants that. But if you, but if you knew it was tobacco spit going in, you’d enjoy it. Yeah. You know what I’m saying? Yeah, yeah. I’m following your logic. What, what do we call this? Coke? It’s, I don’t know why it’s called this. Granddaddy spit. It’s called coco-nut. Coca-Cola Nut, Coca-Cola. Well, I would know at that point why it would be called that. I don’t know. This seems, it’s seems Mormon-ish, but maybe there’s talking about the owner of Swig. Oh, it’s a favorite drink of the owner of Swig. It’s called the founder. Oh, yeah. Oh, but that, that does sound a little, yep. Yeah, right. A little– Right? But it’s actually just, right. It’s actually just a movie about McDonald’s starring Michael Keaton. A good movie. Rhett loved that movie. Cheers to this. This is a Purdy one. This is malt. This is called, uh, salt Lake Sunset. Damn, you all good? I’m sorry, I got it all myself. I can’t help it. They love the sweeteners. I mean, ’cause like you said, it gets pushed down everywhere else and then it comes up in sugar. You know, this is actually bringing back memories to my little breakfast I have with my, uh, assorted Mormons and, um, I, uh, I got a latte and I did, they didn’t gimme a napkin. They gave me no nappie. They gave me a latte. Really foamy latte and I kept taking a sip and then I would be like this and I’d be like. Now what? Oh. But I would turn so they wouldn’t see me do it. Because they were at the table. Yeah. Talking to you. Yeah. That close, huh? They never saw me do it. I turned away. So you would– And eventually they gave me a napkin. You would sip and you– They being the restaurant. And we being? Me. Yeah. Now this my friend, it’s growing on me, but I think it, I’m gonna have to get it removed. This has peach too. Somehow three of the four drinks have peach. Um, that’s why. What’s the soda base, you think? Sprite. Mm, close. Seven up. Close. Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew. Okay, now I want to like it. Peach. What makes it orange? The peach is, I think the problem, I like the cream on top. Can I get a spoon? Yeah. Just putting um, vanilla cream, just putting vanilla cream on top. And that is some thickness up there. On the ground? [Crew[ On the cart behind you. That is, you know what, I– Get one on the ground. It’ll be mean. On the ground. On the ground. Yo. Right behind you, idiot. This has been here the whole time. I didn’t, I, neither one of us has seen this. Boy, we’ve had a lot of visual references. Should we have been grabbing this stuff? Like, look, Dr. Pepper, diet Coke. I wonder if the next one’s gonna have Sprite in it. Were we spo, weren’t we? You, you, you’re gonna make your own. But now we’ve taken a really long time. Listen to this. Listen, listen. Tasting these others, so maybe we won’t. Check this out. You ever played a Sprite? And let me, lemme do that. It is gotta be Sprite. ’cause this Sprite hadn’t been open. Well, this is de, it’s deeper. Bring it up to the mic. Bring it to, bring it to the mic. Bring ’em all, bring ’em all. Bring ’em all. Bring ’em all. All the soft drinks are invited to the party. So, yes. And raspberry was the last thing. What is it called? Drink. Raspberry? So, okay, let’s just figure out our notes. [banging on soda bottles] Oh, Dr. Pepper’s low. Low. [banging on soda bottles] That’s low, honey. Wow. Listen to how low that is. This, only an elephant can hear. This mine’s lower. Hold on. [banging on soda bottles] Ooh, that’s a good resonant one. [banging on soda bottles] Keep it on rhythm. Okay, so I’ll. [banging on soda bottles] Go to Mountain Dew for a second. Yeah. Good. Oh, oh, oh. [banging on soda bottles] No, [banging on soda bottles] Do something consistent on that. [banging on soda bottles] It is like 2004 internet. Yeah, man. The good old days. Okay. Take a special look at Mythical Society exclusives on Good Mythical More. Now, how we would you just put that on your cheek and tell me how wet you, just using your cheek, just tell me how, what you think it is. Is that, is that, is it like a, a slug or a I’ll use it on your cheek. Oh, that’s what it’s like. It’s what? It’s kind of like a dog’s tone.
