GMMore 2914: What’s The Best New Halloween Candy?

What’s the best new Halloween candy? Welcome to “Good Mythical More.” Gwynedd, welcome to you. Thank you. Welcome to me! For tasting the latest Halloween candies. Have you tasted these? I’ve tasted some of these. Some of these. These are the latest and the greatest, so hopefully. I’m really excited about one of these, Peelerz, but I know we’re gonna wait to get to it. Oh, oh, yeah! ‘Cause that is the stuff. That was a discovery last time. I was gonna say, so you guys have done the peelable candies before, right? Oh, yeah. It was a whole moment. It was a little bit life-changing. Mango. And then I forgot about it until right now. Oh no, I went to a… Well, I’ll tell you later. Oh, tell us later, Link. What I’ll tell you right now is- You’re teasing left and right. Every Halloween they’re coming up with new junk. Yeah, yeah. How on Earth would you know what’s worth buying? I mean, you gotta come here to the corn field and figure it out with us. Come to the corn field. Or you could go to Sporked.com. Coming to you live. Yeah, that too. Okay, what you wanna hit first? What do you guys wanna do? How about the KitKat Counts? Why not? KitKat Counts. Instead of doing new flavors of things, they started doing new shapes of things. Well, that’s good for them. I mean, it’s cute. Was that a fly? It seemed like it, yeah. What if it flew out of me? Is that part of the Halloween set, the fly? Little robotic fly? Spooky. It did a little spiral around me. Did it come with you, did you bring it? I don’t know! What was it, a fruit fly? Like that guy from The Peanuts. Whose the one that has all the flies? Pig-Pen. That’s actually my nickname. Okay. Pigtails. Oh my god! Yeah, see, it’s a theme. Pigtails, Pig-Pen. Wow, perfect. This is new territory for KitKat. Are there two in here, can you still break it apart? No, isn’t that horrible? There’s not two in here. Yeah, no. So it flies in the face of what… Flies in the face of what a KitKat is. You did bring the fly. It’s unshareable. Its not sharable, but he really is cute. You could bite half of it and share the rest of it. It definitely has more chocolate than a regular KitKat, right? I think the thing that made them late to the game- I think it has not half as much. The thing that made them late to the game, is the fact that there was a big debate at KitKat about whether or not they did one thing. Was it gonna always have to be a pair of something? Mm-hmm. I mean, I just don’t know how I feel about this thematically. I don’t know if I love it. How do we feel about the name KitKat Counts instead of something else? I like that. Okay. I am such a fan of the classic flavor of a KitKat, and this, the flavor holds up. Yes. Even though I think there’s a little… Well, there’s more chocolate on the outside. Yeah. But there’s less chocolate in the middle. Really though? Okay, I’m wrong. I don’t know. We don’t have a KitKat to compare. I’m just tell you that the ratios are working for me and I like it. I feel like they’re not quite working for me, ’cause I think the chocolate’s so sugary and I’m getting so much of it. It’s throwing the ratio off. A little bit. Like, a little bit off. Are you a candy-giver-outer? You’re the expert. Mm-hmm. Okay, so you have a house that children approach? Kind of. Sometimes they come, and then sometimes I eat all of it. So you have to be a little bit prepared. I live in an apartment. Okay. You know what I mean? Well, we also live adjacent to a rich neighborhood, with a lot of big houses. But do people come door to door inside the apartment complex? No, so it’s just a quad. Like, it’s just a quadraplex. So the doors on the outside. The doors are outside, so they can still do that. And I put up Halloween decorations, and I do, and I leave the door open, and I’m kind of like, I’m here. It feels inviting. I’m picturing it. You leave the door open, so they can come all the way in? Mm-hmm. Four doors for the price of one, that seems like a score. Yeah! And then you could be like, rich people that way. Spread the word. We always have good stuff. Well, ’cause I’m always bringing home stuff from Sporked, so I actually do have good stuff. But y’all don’t like this, so we’re saying this is- I mean, it’s not bad. It’s not bad. It’s not wowing- I think the kids would like it, is what I’m saying. The panel. Kids would like it, but kids have bad taste. Everyone knows that. It’s not wowing the panel. What do you think? I’ll take those. Let’s move on to the Jolly Ranchers gummies. I like it. I have them right here. Okay. They’re called Trickies. They’re Trickies. They are here to trick you and fool you. Oh, there’s a hair on you. On you? There was, on you. I got it. Did you bring the hair with you as well? I probably did. I just have like hairs and flies. Flies and hairs. A mess. A mashup of colors, flavors, and shapes. Okay. So I love the texture of these. Ariana figured out individually what flavor each one is, but I don’t remember what they are. ‘Cause the colors don’t- It tastes just like a Jolly Rancher. I know! I do think that there is one flavor that tastes exactly like permanent marker, but I don’t remember which one it is. Like, exactly the way a Sharpie smells. You’re like, why am I eating this? But mostly- It’s the dark green one, I just did it. Oh, you did. The light green one… No, I hoped it was apple, but it’s grape. The light green is cherry. It’s that one, and I kind of like it. This one? Yeah. Okay. I think so. Now I wanna try it. It’s got a Sharpie, now that you’ve said it. Right or wrong? Let me spit out this one, so I can eat the Sharpie. Eat a Sharpie. Well, I don’t know, you smell markers and maybe you’re like, I wanna taste markers now. Like, I’m a big fan of gummies. Now you can. I really like the texture of them, good chew. It’s very chewy. How scary are they? I didn’t really think about it. I like a gummy that’s slicker and bouncier. Mm-hmm. These are a little matte finish. Mm-hmm. You want a shiny gummy? I understand that. A shiny, bouncy gummy. The perfect consistency of gummy- What’s this, truck nuts. Both in the way that they look and the shininess, is those, speaking of truck nuts, the two cherries that are next to each other. The Haribo ones? With the green stem. That’s the consistency of a gummy that you’re talking about. They have two different colors? They have two little cherries and then they have a little stem. And the stem is a different color? Yeah, green. It’s green, yeah. What? Yeah. I don’t know about these. Yeah. Y’all are loving these. I like them. I’m liking them too. Okay. Wait, so do you guys get trick-or-treaters and hand out candy and stuff? No. Good. I live on a dead-end road and it’s dark. Oh, yeah, forget it. I’ve had like two trick-or-treaters. Two, you know them by name. In 15 years. Yep, Dale and John. They’re actually just adult men who still want to trick-or-treat. No, we’ve hardly ever had anybody. Are any of your children still trick-or-treating age? Lando is 15. That’s still trick-or-treating age. So he’s the youngest of all our children. Shepherd’s 17 now. Mm-hmm. They still might go out and raise hell. They go out. They go out, but it’s a different thing, you know what I’m saying? 17 is really pushing it for trick-or-treating, because I did that once when I was in high school and I got yelled at. Oh, really? Yeah. Got yelled at? They go out ironically. What were you dressed as? I think I wore like a hula skirt. I was in a costume. Oh, you still dressed up. Yeah! Wait, hold on, you were wearing a hula skirt? Yeah. I don’t think that’s culturally sensitive now, but it was the ’90s. Right. It was culturally sensitive then? Didn’t seem as egregious then. You meant the opposite. You know what I mean. I don’t know what the costume is. A hula skirt. A hula skirt, you’ve seen one of those before. Like in Hawaii? Like a grass skirt. Yes. Oh, a grass skirt. I was thinking poodle skirt and I was confused. Oh! Listen, I have every right to be confused on my show. Now poodle skirt, that would be inappropriate. Constantly. The thing that happens in LA though is people do these really advanced haunted houses that are just a house in the neighborhood, and I think that’s okay for a 17 year old to go into. Yeah, that’s cool. Yeah. Yeah. No, but this lady said “No candy for grownups” or something like that. Grownups. I was a child still, technically. And I go, “Are you serious?” And she goes, “Serious as cancer.” Oh! Like that! You remember the whole thing. I do! Wow. So that was inappropriate. Well, you told us you were wearing a hula skirt, but what was the top situation? Nothing. Seashells. Absolutely nothing. Gummy seashells. Coconuts, right? Yeah, it could be coconuts. I think I had a shirt on with the coconuts over it. Oh! Oh, okay. A flesh-colored shirt. A costume! A costume! How about mini pumpkins? Yes, okay. Reese’s is all over the map always. Take a look at those, Rhett. Now the big pumpkin might be my favorite thing that they do. What? ‘Cause it’s just so crazy. Yeah. It’s so big. Well, it wants me to get three, so I guess I will. This is a weird pumpkin. It’s got a huge stem coming out of like the middle of it. It looks like a weird toenail. That’s exactly what we said. Yeah! We were like, what weird little toes they’ve made here. They’re so gross. They could have done better with the shape. Yeah, big time. I wish they were all round. They’re flat on the bottom. They have flat toes. Can we see? Can you hold one for an extended period of time? Can we zoom on that? ‘Cause it’s very hard to see. Stevie’s gonna get a closeup there. Whether we share that in the edit. See whose running the camera. I don’t understand. I don’t understand even in the super closeup what is happening. See the side, look how flat it is. I see the flatness. I’m sorry, I got nervous. But why did they choose… It’s not that hard to do a pumpkin mold, is it? Well, apparently it is. They didn’t want the stem to go beyond- They wanted an integrated stem. This is a big mistake, Reese’s. You’ve made a huge mistake. Thank you for that closeup. I appreciate it, and I won’t be asking you to do anything special again. What? Am I still in it? You’re allowed. They taste great, I like the ratio. What does the Reese’s pumpkin look like that’s big? I think it looks like a jack-o-lantern and it’s long. It’s like this, and then there’s- Yeah, why couldn’t y’all- Yeah, why couldn’t you? Why couldn’t y’all? Yeah, ’cause look at that. Well, that one’s cool. It has a jack-o-lantern face. Yeah! That’s cute. That’s what you want. Oh, it’s long this way. But how do we feel about… Did you eat it in one bite or two bites? Yes, one bite. One bite. It’s a great one-biter. I need two bites. I’m a two bite guy. It’s two small for two bites. I gotta say it ruins the experience for me, ’cause I like biting into the thing and then looking at it. Yeah. When it’s that small, I’m not gonna do that. Oh, you’re right. Gwynedd, remind me where you’re from. Where were you trick-or-treating when this woman told you off? Hawaii. I am from Florida, and this was in Florida. Okay, ’cause the woman in your retelling had a southern accent, but then also you keep saying jack-o-lantern in a very- Yeah. Between those two things. They hit the O real hard in Florida. I guess so. Yeah. In Florida. I think I was doing it to be annoying a little bit. But I like the way it sounds. So are you a Floridian? You’re a Floridian. I’m from New York originally, but I did grow up in Florida for the most part. That’s what happens for a lot of peoples. So you could claim either one, but you’re claiming Florida. You’re claiming Florida? Is that what’s happening right now? You could say New York. Well, ’cause that’s what I’ve always said, I feel like I’m putting on airs if I’m like, I’m from New York. Then they start asking questions. Yeah. Tell me about your childhood, which was mostly in Florida. Yes. But I say jack-o-lantern. I like to keep people guessing. Whoops, sorry. Just throw them everywhere, it’s fine. I don’t think these were as good as the Jolly Ranchers, I’m sorry. Okay, I think that I’m on your side. ‘Cause I have such high expectations for Reese’s. Well, they look like toenails. Aesthetically, they fail. Yeah. So this is what I wanted. So this is a new Hi-Chew mix for Halloween. And there’s a mystery flavor, so I thought we could taste the mystery flavor and see what we think it is, is that fun? Which is this one. That’s so fun. It’s so fun. But I thought that the Hi-Chew mystery flavor was just its own flavor. Is a mystery, it’s its own flavor. Yeah, we’re not gonna get to the bottom of anything. Yeah, it’s an internal mystery. I’ve been told that Hi-Chew is like high value currency of Gen Alpha. Is that true is anyone here? I don’t know how true that is everywhere. In Gen Alpha prisons, yes. Wow! They make shivs out of it. There’s some children in here. They make Hi-Chew shivs that are really ineffective. I do not like the mystery flavor. I love it. What? I do! It tastes like fruit punch to me. I kind of like it. It’s a little too citrus-y, almost lemonic to me. Lemonic, I like that. It’s like demonic, but citrus-y. Lemonic, not lemony, but lemonic. There’s also a flavor called fantasy mix. Ooh! Which is for the bedroom. The Gen Alpha bedroom. All right, he said it. Currency in the bedroom for Gen Alpha. That’s where Gen Alpha people sleep. Okay, well, they’ve got other their fun stuff in there. Watermelon, blue raspberry, and candy apple. They’re trading Hi-Chew? They’re trading and they are determining the value of their friendships based on the trades and the amounts. Now this might be hyper-specific to the Los Angeles area, you know? How’d you learn this? Is this like your niece or something? No, Cassie does some teaching. Yeah, Cassie’s tapped in. That’s cute, what would be the equivalent- Cassie does Gen Alpha teaching. What does she teach them? Art. Okay. Yes. And Hi-Chew haggling? Well, a lot of things that start in LA end up spreading all over the country. There you go. That’s true. Maybe everyone will see in a few months that Hi-Chew is- Set the tone. I do understand it, because they’re a high quality candy with a nice little experience in the mouth. Are they better than a Jolly Rancher? To me, I think so. I love them a lot. Okay, well, we can put them at number one, look at that. I think they rule. And this is also a trick-or-treat appropriate candy and neither of these are. Individually wrapped, you mean? Mm-hmm. Yeah, actually. Yeah, you can’t give these to a child. Their parent’s gonna yell at you. Yep, as serious as cancer, what did she say? Yes, exactly! Okay, how about some Sour Patch Kids? Sour Patch Kids. I wanna do the Peelerz. I thought we’d save the best for last. All right, we’re gonna save the best for last. Well, if you keep teasing it. Here’s what I’m gonna do. Oh, these are cute. I’m gonna put it in there a little bit. Okay, Sour Patch Kids, individually wrapped. So the thing with these is just the head’s a different color than the body. Scary. Does anyone care? And a Sour Patch Kid already kind of looks like a Frankenstein. We do. Okay, good. Yeah, that’s true. These are big boys. Sour then sweet. Nice big boys. Unless you eat it backwards. Is there a certain way to eat it? I bit the head off. Well, it’s not like one end is… That is a scary statement. There is a fly flying around us here. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. I’m gonna be honest with you, it wasn’t here until you showed up. Stop, please, you guys. Oh, there he goes. See, he keeps going back to you. I know, stop! It’s ’cause I’m Pig-Pen. Well, they’re good, they’re Sour Patch Kids. I like that they’re big. Two bite. I don’t understand what’s so different. There’s nothing different. I feel like I’m being manipulated. Mm-hmm. I think that’s the thing with new Halloween candy sometimes is that it is just very subtle updates to candy that we’ve already had in our lives. It’s something about individually wrapping a Sour Patch Kid. I don’t know, there’s something about it- At least put three in there. That just feels like a bit wasteful. I agree. You know these LA kids, they’re gonna be ripping off the top, then dropping this, and it all goes to the ocean. You see the signs. With the dolphin. Drains to ocean. Drains to ocean. Kids, this goes to the ocean. Do you have that sign where you’re from, leave a comment. Yeah, I never saw that sign in North Carolina, even though I do think it did eventually drain to the ocean. Drains to ocean. If it went to Cape Fear River, it made it to the ocean. That’s true. Think about it. Well, we put some stuff in that river. All rivers go to the ocean. What’d you put in the river? All rivers go to the ocean? I took a dump in there one time. I’m sure lots of people do. All rivers go to the ocean? That is a blanket statement. Dad, come in here. Dad, come in here, Dad. All rivers go to the ocean. I didn’t even see Charles over there. Yeah, my dad’s here. Hi! Unless they dry up on the way. Listen, my dad’s rarely here. My god, celebrity guest. Dad, they feed me bull and keep me on the blind on this show. You know Gwynedd? No, but I do now. It’s nice to meet you. This is great. Don’t look at her creepy. This is huge. I’m just being Halloween-y. She’s got flies. He’s just being Halloween-y. I’m joking, Dad, you weren’t looking at her creepy. But you are like looming. Well, you called him in here. You called me in here. You can’t call somebody in here and be like, well, you’re looming. I’m sorry, Dad. Yeah, you can’t do that to your dad of all people. Oh my god, to boot. Where’s he gonna sit, on the desk? Say it to my dad’s face. All rivers go to the ocean, right? They do in North Carolina. Yeah, see, in North Carolina. But all around the world? Where else would they go? Dad, where else would they go? Help me out. Well, I don’t think the ones that’s in Michigan go to the ocean. Eventually they do, after they get out of Michigan. They gotta get out of Michigan first. See? Ha, see. You heard it here first. I don’t want you to fly back, Dad, because I need this kind of support. All rivers in Michigan go to Wisconsin. I never would have known that. Okay, all right. That’s so fun to be able to call in your dad when you need backup. Yeah, I know. I love it. ‘Cause I would have called you in, but you’re already here, and I didn’t wanna put you on the spot like that, Gwynedd. That’s nice, thank you. And finally. Oh god, finally. Look! These. They’re body parts. I got an ear. Are they all ears? No, I think there’s brains. Oh, I got a foot. And fingers. Ooh, a finger. But like a half finger, fingertip. Oh my god, look at these. All right, Stevie. I like them, they’re gross. I know you wanna see it, so there it is. It’s really gross. Matter of fact- I’d like to see that in comparison to the toenail situation. This is micropenis coded. Oh, look! You know, on the inside. Micropenis. Sorry. Sorry, Charles. Is that what you wanted? Yeah, thank you. It’s not all from the same person though. I mean, Peelerz is going for it. It’s not bad looking for what they’re trying to achieve. How do you peel it? Ooh, look at that. Ew, it looks like a wound! You gotta grab it. Oh my god. They don’t peel as well as the Banana Peelerz. Mm-hmm, no, you’re right. Like, they’re not nearly as… They don’t have the structural integrity of the banana. What flavor is it? Flesh. It does taste exactly like flesh. Wild. General fruit. You guys would know. It says raspberry and strawberry. Yeah, general fruit, raspberry, strawberry. It’s berry. Have you done it? Have you successfully- Peeled it? No, these are hard to peel. They’re harder to peel. But I do still think they’re cute. Speaking of raspberry, did you hear that Peewee Herman as a bird came to Emily at the Hollywood Forever cemetery and ate a raspberry out of her hand. No, I didn’t realize that. Yes, yes, yes. Wow! What was his name? Paul Reubens. Paul Reubens in the form of a bird loves raspberries from Emily’s hand. How’d she know it was him? I thought you were asking what the bird’s name was, and I was like, I don’t think she caught it. Paul Reubens. Wow. That’s pretty awesome, isn’t it? That’s incredible. Apparently you can go there and he’ll show up as a bird, you just gotta bring raspberries. Was he wearing like a little bow tie? I think it was just a bird. We ate all those. Y’all were stingy with those, are there any more? I mean, the whole box. I wanted to put Peelerz first, but I know what a Peeler can be. And the taste isn’t as great. Which flavor did you- And the peeling is not as satisfying. Did you like the banana flavored ones or the mango flavored ones when you taste tested them, do you remember? Both. We didn’t get the mango on the show. Oh, okay. We got the mango afterward. Somebody sent us mango once, because they said they were better. I got them at a truck stop. I like both of them. On a family trip, and I pleased my entire family. There’s another way to put that. I think they still should be number one though. Here’s why I’m gonna say that, because the theme. It’s so Halloween themed. I agree. It’s real body parts. It was gross. It’s a little bit gross. Yeah. Yes. Kids are gonna love it. You’re gonna be the most popular house on the block. But you gotta give a whole box at a time ’cause they’re not individually wrapped. No, they are. No, they are individually wrapped. Oh my god, that’s exactly what I experienced! I was about to say, hold on, we just ate them. I was like, give them the whole box? No, that doesn’t make any sense. Yeah, and they shouldn’t taste good, because you don’t want people to start thinking they can eat fingertips, ears, and brains. They taste a little bit off. And remember, drains to the ocean. Don’t put your trash into the dolphins. And whoever you are in my neighborhood who just eats fast food and then puts the whole bag outside on the curb, stop that! That happens in my neighborhood, but with 12 packs of beer. Yeah? Yeah. There’s just somebody who just eats all kinds of stuff, In-N-Out, McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr, whole bag, just outside the car. I’m gonna catch you, sucker. It sounds like a stakeout situation. Yeah. Steak And Shake out. Head over to Sporked.com to check out the Sporked team’s full list of best Halloween candy.
