What are the most regretted baby names? Welcome to Good Mythical More according to the Social Security Administration. Social. Here in America, United States of America. There are names that are cha, people change their names, right? They change their names, and then they get new names. So we've got names over here on my side. This is most changed names, so this is, the names that are most often abandoned that you don't like, we're gonna try to rank them from some options. Apparently James is on the list, which is your middle name, and that's why I don't go by it until I sing. I mean, when you're. What's wrong with James? James Brown? Uh, it's maybe it's common. James and the Giant Peach. Maybe people want something, a little more. You can call yourself Jim, Jimmy. I mean, you always went by Rhett. So why is that? Why did you never go by James? Because my parents. Wanted to call you your first name. I wasn't the kind of kid that would change his name. James is a family name, right? Uh, well, it's my father's name, which is his father's name, so yes. And then some people want to change their name to Sebastian, which we'll put up here on the most adopted names. Most adopted names. Now, that might be a little confusing and it is a little confusing because that's what the Social Security Administration, the SSA, yeah, that's what they, uh, that's what they call it when people adopt a new name, but it makes it seem like they're talking about, let me do this, the most adopted babies. So it has nothing to do with adoption except for names. So we're gonna say most chosen names, updated names. So, chosen, chosen, chosen. Chosen names. I recently found out that, um, okay, that does say chosen kind of in some world in a weird cool, cool font Link. It looks like Gosen. Most Gosen names. Macaulay Culkin changed his middle name. He chose to update it to be Macaulay Culkin. I did not know that. So it could be Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. Yeah. And he really did that as kind of like a. I don't know, a fun little thing. 'cause he likes to do fun things. Uh, j I'm gonna say James is, it's not that bad of a name. It can't be the wor the most changed name, right? Let's just put it down here. I, I like the name. James, what do you think about Isaac? Uh, land's Middle name is also James because Christy's grandfather, family name. So his name was James. So like we honored him with the middle name, you know, middle. And it was also a backup if he hated us for calling him Lando. Which hasn't happened yet, but I'm still holding out hope that he'll hate us for something. It's just hard to imagine Lando hating us for something. That's true. Not because we're great parents, just because he's such a, how did, how did you put it? A delight. Delight. But I will say that. Of a person. The ones that are, the ones that are that much of a delight are the ones that surprise you. I know. That's what I'm waiting for. Yeah. Yeah. The other shoe to drop. Mm-hmm. With the poo in it. Sebastian people are picking Sebastian. Wow. I mean, that's a lot of syllables, Sebastian. That's, I mean it, and if you say it wrong, it could be four syllables. I don't think this is high in high demand. Oh, here's some really helpful context. This is from the time period Oh, thank you, of January, 2017 to March, 2022. 2017 to 2022. Okay, so a five year span during which the pandemic started. Uh, but people changing their names basically modern times. Okay, Isaac, you guys to think about this, Isaac, then here's the thing. What's wrong with Isaac? The names that are tough to understand when you say them in a bar. Or a party. I go by James. And a lot, like if I, if, if I'm getting a order and they're like, what's the, what's the order? I'm James. 'cause it's so, it's, they know that name. Isaac. I go by Link. Isaac. Isaac. Isaac, what. You think people can't, and this, first of all, this isn't Isaac, this is Issac. It's two S's, not two A's. Is it? Oh, I think this might. Is that a way to spell Isaac? I think this, I'm gonna go how crazy out on a limb and say, this is an error on our part. No. Issac? This is a way to, of course you gotta change it because they misspelled it. Isaac's got two As in it. And so many people are misspelled. No, but no, but how, how often is that mistake made? Not very often. We read it. And we didn't bat an eye and then we thought about it. Yeah, but this means. Isn't. In order for a lot of people to change it, a lot of people have to have it. The input has to be high in order for the output to be high. So it is a legitimate spelling of Isaac, it's just. No, it's illegitimate. And that's why people change it. William, changing your name to William. So who, who wants to be called Bill? They don't wanna be called Bill. They wanna be called William. William. Why would you want, I see. I think the reason why people change their names is I, I guess if you had a weird name and you want a normal one, a lot of people change their names, but you're changing it to Sebastian. That's why I think that's low. It should be lower. William's got a IAM at the end of it. Sebastian's got a IAN at the end of it. Maybe that's a pattern, Michael. Boring. Okay, so now this is just people who are, this is just people who are bored with themselves. See? But if Michael's the number one. Oh, again, to my point, input equals output. People change their names for all kinds of reasons. Change of identity to get away from something. Michael is probably the number one name, period. So it's just by the fact that it is a popular name. It is a popularly changed name. Not that people hate the name Michael. It's just the percentage of people who changed Michael. So I just think we're like four. It might be higher than that. It might, I think it might be two. It might be higher than that. So yeah, compromise. We're gonna compromise at three. Olivia, great choice. Great name again, the IA in it. An ia. People love an IA in their name. I, I'm just gonna rank these by how much I like 'em, and then we can see where, where we land, because I don't know what the rationale is. If people are, Olivia is pretty high. He's a good name. Olivia is is just a, it's a great name. When you're old enough to name yourself, that's gotta have something to do with it and you love it. And your older don't even like Rena yourself. Olives, you don't even like olives and you'd like the name Olive. Interesting. Um, I like the number of vowels and how they all work together and how it comes off of the tongue. What about. Isabella, too many Ls. Uh, this was beca. The reason why people were changing is because of what happened to that Disney princess. There was a Isabella Disney princess and, um, she got canceled, okay? Mm-hmm. Uh, I think she was saying, um, she was saying. Ironically misogynistic things. Okay. I believe he's making a joke now. Uh, is Isabella even a Disney princess ever? Uh, Encanto has an Isabella. Okay, see, there you go. What's wrong with this? And was there, was there something misogynist in content? Conta is a perfect film. I don't know about this. I don't know why this is bad. I don't know. Why are you changing, Isabella? Jonathan, Jonathan, so people are stopping being Michael and becoming Jonathan. Why? It's, I don't know, what is, what changes fundamentally in your life when you go from a Michael to a Jonathan? I don't, well, it's not, well, they're probably not doing that. Somebody is, I think these are people who have a strange name or something, and then they just want. They wanna blend in a little bit. Well, what about Michael? It's a numbers game, like you're saying. We might have Michael and Jonathan on both of them. Chloe, all, all of the things are at play. People do wanna blend in and people want to stand out. Okay. Everything's true. This is not Chloe. This is Chole. This is Charlie. Uh, is it Choley or Cole? Here's the thing, Chole. Okay. All right. We've learned, okay, we're zeroing in on this. People put the wrong name down on the birth certificate because they can't spell. People think this is Chloe and it's Chole. People think this is Isaac and it's Issac. Oh my God. And that's exactly, and then literally days later they change it and that's, and based on that. And they change it to Isaac and they change it to Chloe. See, oh no, I knew that was gonna happen. Help us. Help us. See, now we understand. Look, so you have Chloe and Isaac in here? Yes. Yes. We figured it out. Yes, yes, yes. You can't get past us now, I think. Think it's time for a PSA. Public Service announcement. Uh uh, or some of these people would say a PAS because they cannot spell. Check with someone. Yeah. You've had time. You've had time to figure this out. You've chosen Chloe. This isn't how you spell Chloe. This is how Charles would spell Chloe. You know what I'm saying? That's why I'm named the same name as my dad, because he already knew how to spell his own name. Isaac spelled correctly. People were doing, so we we're thinking this is a seven to seven. Well, I mean, we just happened to put these down here. I don't exactly know why. But it feels like the misspellings have to be not as common as the just change for other reasons, right? I would hope so. Elliot, this is how you spell Elliot, but it's a horrible name. Everybody knows what's wrong with Elliot. Uh, it's, I mean, Elliot, what? I, I just, you know, it's. Ellie, what? That's your proof. It's easy to make fun of Ellie, what? Idiot or Elliot, you know, it's like, I mean, it's just it. You're just waiting to be bullied because it rhymes with idiot you're saying. Yeah. Elliot the idiot. Uh, that's two. I've never met an Elliot except for once. I'm remembering right now. We had a very good friend who was an Elliot. Yeah. We connected here. Both having mouth herpes. That's not why I connected with him. It's 'cause you didn't have it. Right. But he was a friend. He was a friend of mine. And he had it bad too. I'd be like, dude, what's up? I'm, I know. I feel your pain, dude. You gotta do better. I gotta, I think people changed that a lot. Sorry, man. I remember having that conversation. We became friends. Cho, Leo, cholo. Chloe, what? Where are you at? You're at eight. So I'm moving Sebastian's, I'm not weight down. People are correcting the spelling of their names. David. Okay. Again, this is, I think Michael or David are number one. I think the main reason people have changed their Michael's, number one, change their names from most common names is some people are also named the same thing as their dad, and then something goes south of their dad. They don't like your dad and they're like, or they meet another Michael, or they're just tired of being. Michael number three in the, in the, that's my situation. My dad's a Michael, and my middle name is Michael. Yep. Mm-hmm. Matthew Michael. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And we, we call him Mm mm Have you ever thought about the name that your three syllables? The, the, the sound that your three syllables makes? Clin, clin, clin and mine's. Lin is kind of like clean clin, m. Rid. Rid. Mine's two syllables. Clin and rid. Clin and rid Matthew. We got a Matthew over here now. Oh, so basic. No, no offense. I mean, it's just a, it's just, but people are choosing it left and right. And people aren't getting rid of it. It's just an easy choice. The reason why people choose him originally is why people choose him the second time around. Now, what's up with people getting rid of Sophia? I think Sophia's a lovely name. We just, do they list the why's? Do we know the why's? Do you have to log why you're changing your name? There's not. There's only, I don't, I don't know how it'll be helpful to you other than the the, I will say people are, hmm. What do you think the ratio of people who can't spell? Or do you think there's a higher percentage of people who can't spell or who want to change their name? From Michael to Jonathan. People who want to change their name. Okay. Yep. Oh, so we need to put Chloe and Isaac up. High is Isaac. Isaac is number one. Is Isaac number one? Isaac Number one because Isaac, Chloe's number two. I Sometimes I gotta look it up. How to spell it. What? But there's more, technically, slightly more women born than men, but, and Chloe's tough. Chloe's tough. I've always said that about her. And I think that women are more inclined to do something about a problem than men. Yes. Men ignore it. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Now let's talk about Connor. Uh, not a good name. Well. We have a, whatcha gonna, we have a story. We met, we met a man recently who talked I, oh God. We, we met a man Oh wow. In North Carolina who talked more unbroken. Like he's the kind of person that you wouldn't even have to ask him a question. He would start talking and he would talk unbroken to five people, so the two of us and three other people. And he would talk unbroken. For like 20 minute segments until somebody else said something. It was wonderful. He talked kinda like this. And he told a story about how he was working on a guitar of this guy named Connor who was from Ireland and things went south. Cliche I know of it. And uh, he ended up, the story is so ridiculous and I'm not gonna tell the whole story and it wouldn't even be funny because the only funny part is the fact that. He, he interacted with Connor's father at one time, and Connor's father in person was basically doing some of the same bull crap that Connor had been doing. And in the middle of the conversation, this man said, sir, Connor disgusts me. And then he said, as a matter of fact. You disgusted me. And so now for the rest of my life, when I see the name Connor, I will become disgusted. I had forgotten Connor. I was disgusted. I didn't know why. Disgusted me and uh, nobody wants to be. Connor, put it at number four. Michael. Here we are with Michael. Now we're putting this down here. Let's wrap this and I'm gonna match it. I'm gonna match Michael, 'cause you're changing from Michael to Michael. Now I have a Connor. People are adopting Connor, spelled the exact, nope, spelled a different way. Conor. Conor. Oh, going from Connor to Conor. Do something, do something better with your time. So we're putting Matthew down there. You know what here, here's a piece of advice. Do what we did in a sketch a long time ago and name your dog, Matthew. We thought that was funny. I think David is up there because, just for reasons and I think that Aiden. He's just a bad name. And uh, there we go, Elijah. There's different ways to spell that. I think that's the lowest one. That is Elijah Sebastian. That's Matthew, Michael, Jonathan name like Elijah. You spell it like that. Like Elijah. Like Elijah. Like Elijah. Come here, boy. Like Elijah. Okay. This is it. Okay. I mean, I'm gonna tell you the right order of things. Is that gonna change much for us? Yeah. Everything. Okay. Um, well, I tried to, I tried to help you out. Number one is Isaac and, and Isic and, and Isaac on the other side. Wow. It's the most misspelled name. Make the change. You want me to make the change? Yeah, we can do it. Make that change. Okay. Then Choley and Chloe. Yep. We were so close. Do you want, should I continue doing it? Like one in one or just Yeah. Should we focus on it? Yeah. Wild. Yeah. Yeah. It's so wild. Aiden. Oh, yep. Horrible. And Sebastian spe. Some people wanna be called Sebastian that a lot of people do. It doesn't shorten. I guess that's the number one, because the other two are spelling mistakes. The one's, that's the number one name people wanna be. It's because of the Little Mermaid. Then we have, or the sebaceous gland, Connor, with an E. Oh, so we got one right link and William, oh, ah, close. So you aren't going from Connor to Conor. Some people just change their, the spelling. Some people go in a different direction. Then we have Elliot. Yep. And on the other side we have Olivia. Oh, Connor's Way down there then. We have Michael and Michael. Yeah. Going from Michael to Michael, that's not much of a change. Well these people aren't, it doesn't go across. No. Does in our world it does. These are people changing their name. From Michael to Michael, we have James. It's millions of 'em. Just to know it was their choice. And we have Elijah, Elijah, James, and we have Isabella and Matthew, and. And then we have Sophia and Connor with an O, and then we have David and Jonathan. So there's a lot more male skewing names than females, so we were wrong about that. There's more male names that are choosing that are being changed and you know, you know what I'm saying? Typically associated with male. Um, but we don't wanna hold anybody to that. I was just gonna say, looking at the like, grass is always greener unless you misspelled your name. Yeah, yeah, right.
