We're trying the new nuggets
from McDonald's and Burger King
Welcome to Good Mythical More.
There's some new nuggets on the prowl.
And these have been released
right around the same time.
They're not necessarily in direct
competition with one another,
'cause they're not trying to
do exactly the same things.
Because from McDonald's we've got
the spicy chicken nuggets- Mm-hmm
uh, that were introduced in 2021,
but they're bringing them back and
they've got this mighty hot sauce.
And then Burger King, this is a
completely new recipe of, I think
this is just their new nuggets.
Is that?
It's not like a new type of
nugget, but it's like Bur- Burger
King will, like, reinvent their
nuggets every once in a while.
People are complaining about them
being, their nuggets being rubbery,
dry and disappointing, and they
went back and rethink, rethought
every element of the nuggets.
Okay.
After extensive recipe development
and guest testing, Burger King is
introducing new nuggets made with
100% white meat chicken, crispier
golden breading and a more flavorful
marinade for a juicier bite and
upgraded packaging, now served in a box.
So they used to not be served in a box,
so they've, they're- They were served
in, like, a little, um… Let- let's
start with the Burger King ones because
the M- McDonald's ones are spicy.
Spicy, and it may influence our palates.
So we've got a special savory
sauce, hyuh, for these.
It's just called Special Savory?
Says it right there, Special Savory- Well,
that could be so many things … sauce.
That could be s- oh, but you know what?
I'm gonna tell you.
It looks like- Well, it looks like- You
know what sauce … it looks creamy,
tangy, with hints of barbecue seasoning,
ketchup, garlic, onion and black pepper.
You think it looks like Chick-fil-A sauce?
No.
You think it looks like In-N-Out sauce?
No.
You think it looks like-
Raisin Canes.
Oh.
Exactly.
Yeah, I'm just, I'm not as
familiar with… Yeah, but
you're right, the Cane's sauce.
It is not Raising Canes.
Okay.
It's not as good, but,
oh, it is good though.
Mm. Interesting.
Mm. It's very pungent
It's very black peppery.
I like it.
And a little Worcestershire.
We should talk about what
happened at the party we went to.
W- when this is done, we're g-
w- 'cause I wanna hear w- your
perspective on what happened.
We're- No you don't.
We're … Oh, really?
We're both at the same party, and
something mind-blowing happened to me.
I just couldn't contain myself.
Let's do it.
I didn't expect it.
We'll talk about that
The second bite I'm gonna eat without
the sauce just to see the nugget.
Now you know we've been
in Burger King commercials
The reason why is because we were honest.
We c- we, we were honest
about Burger King stuff.
So to their credit, they came through and
said, "We're trying to improve stuff. We
wanna have you guys in the commercial."
And we said, "Yeah, but that
doesn't mean that we're gonna tell
you these are great." They're,
what, uh, what'd I say they were?
They're not a sponsor currently.
They are incredibly nuggety.
But I'm gonna tell you
right now, they're great.
Um- Anyway … they, it's like they, I
don't remember what they were like before.
I know Burger King has done, like,
the chicken finger type things.
They were, there were
cr- Crowns at one point.
Mm-hmm.
This is sort of a, like, a
return to traditional nuggetry.
And, uh- Nu- you like that?
I do.
You like it when you hear
yourself say nuggetry?
Yeah, yeah.
I crack myself up.
And- Nuggetry.
I mean, that's a slogan
and, and also, it is 100% white meat-
We've upped our nuggetry … but
it's not like, it's not a tender.
There's, th- this, this chicken
has been processed to some degree.
That's okay.
But I think that's kind of- I actually
prefer that … what you want in a nugget.
Yep, in a nugget that's what I want.
In a finger- It's not a strip
I don't want a, I don't want a
particle, particulated strip, but
I do want a particulated nugget.
And the sauces is really good.
They're crispy.
Mm. I don't think there's
anything to complain about
I gotta be in a nugget
mood to get nuggets.
I thought you were
always in a nuggety mood.
I thought you were always
feeling a little nuggety.
I went through a nugget phase
in my 30s, 20, late 20s, 30s.
It, that happens, you know?
I'm- It's a human thing.
I'm more of a sandwich man at, at
this point in my life, you know?
Let's try the, uh, this bite.
This, this has our approval.
Now, I had this sauce because
I stopped by- Mighty hot sauce
… Mickey D's for a couple of…
I'll do this every once in a while.
If I had to get up too early to, and
I wasn't able to make my smoothie,
and I'm coming into work and I'm still
hungry, I'll stop by the Mickey D's
and I'll get two sausage burritos.
I don't get the McGriddles because
that makes me feel like I'm just,
I've thrown caution to the wind.
Yeah, bad, bad, bad boy.
But the, the sausage burritos feels like
it's, th- you can still have, there's
still some responsibility in your life.
Yeah.
And I love that salsa.
I got up there, I order 'em.
S- hot sauce.
The salsa.
Salsa.
I will get to why I'm g-
talking about this in a moment.
Okay.
Salsa.
The salsa that comes with
the sausage and egg burritos.
I got up there and they're like,
"We're out of the salsa." So
I tried to put it in reverse.
I was, people were behind me, I was stuck,
I didn't know what to do, I was trapped.
Mm-mm.
And I said, "Well can you give me
anything?" And they said, "We've
got this new mighty hot sauce.
We'll give you that."
Can you give me anything?
So I dipped my… I'm familiar with
this sauce 'cause I dip burritos in it.
Okay.
I'm- And I gotta say, it's not as
good as the salsa for burritos.
Breaded in a spicy and crispy coating,
flavorfulls- flavorfully spiced with a
blend of aged cayenne and chili pepper.
This one's pretty dry.
This one's so dry.
It's thin too.
Look how thin it is.
Yeah.
Let's get a side by side here.
Look how thin this one is
Again, that's not the
point of this exercise Hmm.
I mean, these are relatively fresh
You think so.
You don't know.
He doesn't know.
I mean, they're not from
yesterday, are they?
Well… I just don't want…
I'm about to dog them so hard.
I just need to know if they're
from, if these are from yesterday.
Do we know?
Why are they so, why are they so thin?
Because a chicken nugget- They're so thin.
Like, a McNugget isn't this thin, is it?
They're spicy.
A McNugget is not this thin.
The flavor's good
It's r- they're really hot.
It is very spicy.
Yeah, we film this show
early in the morning.
Sometimes McDonald's aren't up,
the fryers aren't running yet.
Okay.
It's possible.
So it's from yesterday.
Who knows?
Who knows?
Not Blaine.
Do you want an answer to that question?
Okay.
Uh- So let's say that
these have been reheated.
The sauce is g- what, they,
they wouldn't get thin, though.
But, but, but why would it get shr-
why would they shrink that much?
And even if they shrunk some,
they wouldn't shrink that much.
But you s- I like the flavors … are
the burger, are the Burger King
ones from yesterday m- too?
They are.
Do you want an answer?
The answer was yes.
Well, they held up.
So we are comparing apples to apples.
These are too hot.
The spice builds, and give it to
them, when they say it's spicy, it is.
But- Yeah … but you
gotta eat them real fresh.
But Burger King- They're juicy … you can
wait un- till the next day and eat them.
They're still juicy.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well- K- kind of like
what I saw at that party.
Oh, God.
Go ahead and tell your story.
Oop.
So
this is our friend's, uh, 50th.
That's a big one
which makes me feel old We, we were
planning it for, it w- I mean, we
were, it was on our calendar for
months, and then a few days before
we have to go, or we get to go,
Christy decides she needs to go home.
Now, these are close friends
of ours and, and yours.
Mm-hmm.
Um, the, the guy is t- turning
50, but the couple we've known for
as long as we've been in LA, you
know, so li- long-time friends.
Christy was super bummed
she had to miss it.
She had to go home and, like, take
care of her parents, um, 'cause there
was some medical stuff going on there.
She's still not back yet.
She gets back tomorrow night.
What if she never comes back?
She'll come back.
Okay.
Good, good.
Um, anyway, so Christy didn't get to go
to the party with me, and so I'm like,
"Hey, can I ride with y'all?" Right.
So then you and Jessie come pick me up.
We go to the party.
Um, and then, I mean, a, a lot of fun
things happening at the party, uh,
including DJ, dancing, ice cream, cake.
Roving magician.
R- roving close-up
magician, which I avoided.
The first thing he did, we were the first
people that he started doing magic to.
I was the first person he
asked to be a volunteer.
You were the first.
I was like, "No, no, no, no. Not me."
No, you were the first in our group,
but he had, he- Okay, good … he had
been going around, just so you know.
I was like, "No, no, no.
You don't want, you d- you don't want
this." And I told him, "Yeah, yeah, you
don't want him." Yeah, so I backed away.
And then when they were doing the … The
party kinda spilled outside because
the dance was happening inside,
so people were going outside and I
was one of the first- Pretty loud
to be outside, and I was talking
to, uh, a couple that I was catching
up with, hadn't seen in a while.
And the magician came out, and he was over
here, and so he was gathering a crowd,
and then I was like, "You know what? I,
maybe I can gather a crowd, too." Yeah.
"I can gather the anti-magician
crowd." You can, yeah, you
can compete a little bit.
So I stayed over here
and I talked to them.
I didn't get, I didn't
get pulled into that.
But I'm looking, when I'm talking to
the guy I'm talking to, I'm looking past
him, I'm seeing a group of people, and
that's, well, that's when I spotted her.
But I'll leave it at that for now
because the n- … some things
happened, but I'm curious about
what happened from your perspective.
Okay.
Well, I was in another conversation.
I'd gone outside because it was so loud.
I was not able to hear
people talking inside.
Okay.
And I, you know, this is
a 50th birthday party.
Let's, let's just have
some light piano music.
Come on, dude.
I mean, my, my- Light piano
music … my, I've thought about this.
My 50th birthday is next year, and
I'm going to have a big party, but I
think there's gonna be light piano.
'Cause I just want people to be talking.
I mean, like- Like a jazz bar?
I think maybe at some point he'll pick
it up and maybe do a little ragtime
so people can dance a little bit.
A little Char- people, you want
people to do the Charleston?
Yes.
Um, so I'm talking to a couple that,
uh … Well, it's always fun when somebody
says, "We we- we had dinner together."
And you're like Don't remember you.
But then they explained it was, it
was when we were on tour and we went
through Portland, and we saw our
friends whose birthday party it was.
They were there, and they brought
this couple, and we all ate together.
So, I was like, "Oh," it was
just one of those things that
it was, like, a few layers.
Oh, I didn't remember that.
Yeah.
And then I s- started putting it together.
But we were catching up and talking
about a lot of things, talking about
our kids and similar age and different,
you know, places in life or whatever.
And then, like, all of a sudden, this man,
my friend, comes up and he's like, without
He just comes into the middle
of the group of people talking.
He's like, "Hey, hey.
Uh, you gotta come over here.
I gotta show you something." And then,
and then you realize that you were
getting me to leave, and then you just
told the other people, "Y'all too.
You can come too." I didn't know
him, but I realize that I kind
of busted up your conversation.
And so I was like, "Okay." Uh,
so we all walked over there.
Now, the first thing, I don't know if
you noticed this, but when I got over
there and you started telling me what
you were gonna tell me, the first thing
I noticed, now, we're out on the street.
This is a str- just this is, like, the
street and the sidewalk outside of this
venue, so we're, like, in a city area.
Yeah.
And your fanny pack is just on the ground.
On the sidewalk, just on the ground.
Like, you had left it and
then gone, and just, like,
you're … It's just on the ground.
For the most- Like, your, the, your,
all your valuables, your ID, ev-
Probably … It's just on the ground.
I was like, "His-" Well, you
know, I, Christy wasn't there.
I thought the whole point of having
this thing is to have your stuff with
you, and you've got it on the sidewalk
outside in a city, just on the ground.
For most of the time, I
was standing beside it.
What- Until I came to get you.
Why don't you just wear it?
It didn't, it didn't
really go with my outfit.
Well, you're gonna have to
start getting purses, man.
I know.
Yeah.
I need to start collecting
purses that go with my outfits.
Uh, and so then- Good
idea … that's when he's like,
"Look at that woman over there."
Look at her.
And, uh, I mean, you've said that
before, but we were probably 20.
Unmarried.
I mean, um- I couldn't believe it.
You look at, look at
that woman over there.
And so I looked, and I will say, as
soon as you told me to look, I knew
why you were telling me to look.
Okay.
But j- I didn't get the reaction from you
that I wanted, which was like, "Good gosh,
I can't believe it. This is uncanny."
It was
At certain angles it was uncanny.
Right.
And I showed you a picture, right?
Well, you t- we're
taking multiple pictures.
He's standing there taking
pictures of this woman.
Well- And, and then I was like, "Listen,
you gotta stand, you gotta stand over
here and look at this woman." Yeah.
She was talking to somebody.
And meanwhile, the other people-
She was kind facing away.
She was looking that way … the other
people have come over here with me.
Just for him to be like, "Look at that
woman." He's like taking pictures of her.
And I've got these people with me.
Because, because I couldn't
control how, the angle with
which he was seeing the woman.
I wanted to show him the, the proper
angle to really take this woman in.
And this woman was also at the
party, just so you understand.
A party that didn't have that many people.
It's just another woman at this party.
So I started showing you
the pictures that I'd taken.
Which we're not gonna show, because we
have not received this woman's permission.
No, at any point.
And, um- We never interacted with
her … I was like, "It's Christy.
It's my wife.
This is her.
My, she's at the party.
She's not in North Carolina.
She's right there.
She's right there." As long as she
looks away and I, like, get the hair.
Her hair was exactly the same.
Her height was exactly the same.
Her style was very similar.
Yeah.
And then her, this part of her nose-
That would stick out right past her
hair … that would stick out if, like,
when she, like, when I got, when I got
the right angle, like, if I took pictures
between the two couple, the couple I was
talking to- … it didn't look like her.
But then if I started going behind, if
I took my camera behind the woman I was
talking to, then I got the right angle,
where it was just the right amount
of nose popping out from the hair.
But let me tell you how this came across.
And it was exactly- Let
me tell you how this came
across … it was doppelgang 100%.
Just from the per- perspective of the
person that was, the people that were
with me, is you go over there and
there's a man taking pictures of a woman.
And literally, this is what
he's saying, "That's my wife!"
I couldn't believe it.
Look at her.
Look at her.
That's my wife.
It's like one of those guys that thinks
he just spots his wife and is like,
"I'm gonna marry that woman." You know?
It's like … And it- And I was just
like, "I don't have any explanation for
this." I wasn't gonna try to translate
it for the people that were with me.
It, it was … And then I was
texting, I texted it to the family.
I picked the right photo and I
texted it to my family group chat.
Oh, I saw the, I saw how Lily responded.
And then, um, I, I just sent the picture.
I was like, "Can you believe this?"
And it was wide, it was a wide shot
of the people I was talking to and
then their mom standing back there.
And then they wrote back,
"Dad a little tipsy?" Yeah.
I, I j- I just saw, "Dad,
are you drunk?" Yeah.
And then- … the k- they, they started
… Yeah, they thought I was drunk.
And I was like, "Zoom in on the
woman." And, uh- And then they were
like, "Yeah" … it didn't get any
better from that- Yeah … from there.
And then I, so then I just, I
started going- I didn't get from you
what I wanted, didn't get from my
family what I want, so I was just
started going up to other people.
Well, Jessie said, when, when you told
Jessie about it, she said, "That's so
sweet that you miss her so bad that you're
just seeing her everywhere." Hallucinating
her- It's like- … in all places.
Yeah.
So I'm, like, going up to other
people that I know or kinda
know, and I'm like, "Y- you know
what my wife looks like, right?
She's here.
Can you believe this?" And everybody's
like, "Well, yeah." And then I,
I'm just no one's giving me what
I want, which is, "I care, bro.
Like, this.
This is what I wanted." Well, but
it, b- but just to be clear, it
just didn't, that wasn't warranted.
And then what I started to realize-
It wasn't warranted … was I'm
getting awfully close to having
an interaction with this woman.
Yeah.
This is not gonna … I do not know her.
Yeah, that would- I don't
know who she's with.
I don't know anything about her.
That would have been wild.
But, and when she looks right at
me, it's definitely not my wife.
Right.
Like, from the front, she
looks nothing like Christy.
It's just, like, this part of
her nose from the side and the
hair looks exactly like her.
But I realize if some- I was like,
"Don't introduce me to her." I
star- I started having to say
that when I was talking to people.
I was like, "Can you believe this woman
looks exactly like my… Well, you
wanna… Oh, that's so…" "Oh, don't
introduce me to her." Yeah, I- Because
I realized- I don't wanna talk to her.
I just wanna talk about her
if I, if I met her, then I would be
saying to her what I was saying to
everybody else, "You look just like
my wife from a certain angle." Who's
still alive and actually just in another
state right now And then be like, "Look,
you look just like my wife from this
angle." And then I would, like, show
her the picture of herself that I took.
Yeah.
And then I would be like- I'm, I'm
glad for your sake that that didn't
happen … not so much from this angle or
this angle or this angle or this angle.
I, I mean, I took 23
pictures of the woman.
And I was like, if I meet her,
I will show her all 23 pictures,
and this will not end well.
And to my credit- Oh, you
Hold on.
Yeah.
Somehow after all that you just
said- To my credit … you're
about to say, "To my credit"?
To my credit- Uh-huh … I
did not meet this woman.
How did you get there?
I did not have an awkward
interaction- We're, we don't need
to be crediting you for anything
… with my wife's doppelganger.
Yeah.
You know what?
I'm, I'm growing.
Well, maybe next time, just a, and
maybe to set a little bit of a higher
standard for your growth, um, the next
time you see that, you can be like,
"Oh." And this is all inside your head.
"Oh, she kinda looks like Christy from
this angle." And then just move on.
Like, don't break out the camera.
Don't interrupt other people's
conversations and bring strangers into it.
Uh, just have these thoughts in your head.
I mean, maybe it would be enjoyable.
It's crazy.
I mean, look
I mean, look
You know what my wife… You d-
you don't know what my wife wants.
Blaine's like, "I'll do
it, but I don't know."
But not so- We're not
showing you the picture
See, and, and here's a picture,
here's a picture of a blurry…
That's, that's the woman I was
talking to, and she's blurry because
my camera's moving past her, taking
pictures at everybo- everybody else.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
It's just… It, look,
I mean, look at this.
Look at this, Jenna.
Come, come back here.
Give me what I need.
I know, I know.
I was like, "You just need someone
to be really excited." All right.
So this is the guy I'm talking to.
Uh-huh.
He's blurry.
I, I mean, I'm talking to this
guy out of the corner of my eye.
Look.
And then if you zoom in, look.
Oh my God, that's Christy.
I can't believe it.
I, I- I thought she was in North Carolina.
See?
Oh my God, believe it.
And look, I mean… But not so much.
See, where are the other pictures?
Yeah, where are the other?
There's plenty.
Yeah, the, the… We need the
just the nose and the hair, right?
That was a little too much.
See, that one doesn't look like her.
Something about the, the
up- That's not quite your…
No.
The up- upper lip.
Yeah, that's not quite Christy.
Yeah, that's not her.
That's, and that's the- How many
pictures of this woman have you taken?
I'm gonna need you to l-
delete all these photos.
Wait, I feel, I feel so bad for the
people that you're talking to who are
in the foreground of all these pictures.
Here's like… It's like…
Oh, and look at this.
Here's a-
What does that even have
to do with anything?
Why are you showing me this milk?
I, I wanna show… Here's
a bottle of chocolate milk.
I t- took a picture of that, too.
So if you feel like you need a
picture of something from me,
here it is, chocolate milk.
