What is the worst corporate lingo? Welcome to Good Mythical More. We both have experience in the corporate world. Mm-hmm. And now we try our best to not make Mythical feel corporate. Sometimes you get sucked into it, though. Yep. Uh, the lingo, when you have a group of people- Mm-hmm … uh, who are working together, things start happening and things start being said, and then they start getting repeated, and then before you know it, you've got this inside language. I mean, do you think anyone in the past week here in this building has said, "Let's circle back on that"? Well, we do have too many meetings. Mm. Right? That's right. That's what the, that's what the survey said. That is what… We put the survey online. We reviewed the results of the recent survey. You think the survey's gonna say we need more meetings? No. One person was asking for more meetings, but it's anonymous, so we don't know who it was. Right. But don't worry, we still fired them. Hey, hey. Not funny. No, we didn't. What? We'll circle back on that. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. We need to- We'll circle back on whether or not we're gonna fire them. Um, so we are going to rank these from b- best to worst. Where's worst? Worst to best. No, the worst it is- Is on my side. Yeah. So we don't like… I, I like circle back. Circle back, circle back. I worked at IBM for, let's see, uh, all told, I guess it was maybe close to three years, and it was definitely a corporate environment. Like, you would walk around, I mean, multiple buildings. There was a whole campus. You would walk from, from cubicle, cubicle level to cubicle level, and I would go up two floors to, to do number two in a bathroom up there. Yes. And these are the things you learn in a corporate work environment. You always do number two on a different floor. On a different floor than you work on. Because everyone knows your shoes that day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I would go to, like, the manufacturing plants, and, um, I also knew where to drop a deuce in, in those places. Uh, that's the main thing about navigating corporate world- Yeah. The main thing you gotta figure out about that- … is where do you, where do you do number two? I mean, we know, you, m- you know, we have two different types of employees here at Mythical, those who take dookies on this side - … and those who go to this side. Which kind are you? I don't know anymore because we got new bidets. Well- We got a new … That's a … This is a complete- There's new bidets on this side. Yeah. Yeah. Which I haven't actually used yet. Uh- You, you recommend? Well, I gotta say that I- Or do you wanna circle back? I haven't y- I haven't deployed the bidet, but what I did notice is that- Mm-hmm … I couldn't get the seat to quite stand up- Stand up. Yeah … on, on one, and then I thought I was gonna, I was gonna have that thing that happens where midstream it starts to fall, and you reach for it, and y- as you try to grab the toilet lid- Right you go through your own pee stream- Which happened to you … with your hand. I remember that happened. And, uh, that has happened to me in a diner before, and I really don't want it to happen at work- I've figured out the solution to that … with all the hands that I shake. Not to be graphic. The solution that I've found is as the seat starts falling, just start peeing on the uppermost part and- And force it back up and then force it back up, and then pee down. Uh. And then as it comes down, you're good. Here's the thing. I could do that- It's one of these things … I could do that in my 20s. Can't, can't … How did we get here? Uh, uh, corporate environment. Yeah. Let's circle back on that conversation. But- Walking down the halls, there was monitors, and then, like, the president of IBM would, like, give an address, and it would show up on the monitors. It w- … So you worked at IBM. I worked at Black & Veatch, which was a smaller engineering firm. We … It was a large corporation, but it wasn't like IBM level of organization. So- Mm-hmm … like, I don't even think we ever, I ever met the, the president, 'cause he was in Kansas City. Okay. It was just, like, whatever was happening in a- You had cubicles. Yeah. Okay. You had multiple floors. Yeah. But you didn't have closed circuit television. No closed circuit television. It was IBM TV all the time. And also, a lot of these words, I don't feel like they had really caught on yet because this is like- All of these words were being said … I think, uh- Yes … like, a place like IBM probably started it. They're being invented. Circle back, I think it … There's a … It … As you already illustrated, it's like if something's kinda going sideways- It's useful … it's j- it just kinda, like … It diff- So we're gonna say it's okay … it diffuses and pushes, pushes, pushes something off, pushes a problem off to a less embarrassing moment. Speaking of embarrassing moments, I forgot, uh, that I have the privilege of … What am I delivering, zingers? What am I- Rizzing me? Razzing? Cheap shots. Cheap shots. Oh, cheap shots. Uh, in addition to, what is it, plaid day, which was the one that I came up with, uh, I also have some other ones that someone else wrote for me. Uh, how about this one? If the rule was women, children, and dumbasses go first, you would've survived the Titanic. All right. A little harsh there. Well, you gotta start somewhere. Well, let me piggyback off of that. And say that, um, uh, I'm not a ship guy. Piggyback. This means, um… It means take something somebody said and build upon it. So if you're in a meeting and you're, like, talking and somebody says something… I'm gonna piggyback off that. You're gonna piggyback off that. Which is actually an underhanded way to say, "I'm actually going to go a completely different direction- No, it's not … and make you think that I'm building on what you said." Oh. You know what I'm saying? That's how I use it. I think it's at least a way to commandeer the, the meeting for yourself. Yeah, it's a way of taking back the control. Is it, though? I don't like this one. But, but people will just say it as a yes, and. I mean, at face, at face value, it's just y- more, more of that. Right. But you also, you can't give piggyback rides at work anymore. Since that Supreme Court ruling. Right. It used to be, happen every day. And, um, but we're not gonna do that. We're not gonna tr- we're really not gonna try to r- we talked to Lisa about this. I'm sure, I'm sure- We're not gonna bring back piggyback rides … I'm sure there's still employees who'd let me r- piggyback on them. Nope. I mean… No, uh, nope. It doesn't, you can't do that. Don't even live my way. Okay. Uh- Uh, we got, we, we gotta get some water- Oh, wow. I got- … before we start … okay, this is a big one. Synergy. That's horrible. This is the, this is the one people like to make fun of. It's a, it's a made-up word, um, that's only used in corporate environments. Aren't all words made up? And it's, it's just so eye-rolly, right? N- no one can sincerely say this. I don't think anybody's saying synergy here. I'm proud of that. Yeah, we, we wouldn't do that. In fact, let's, uh, let's put out a little watchdog effort here. What? If you hear somebody say synergy- Of course, what- … they have to give you a piggyback ride When synergy does happen, though, I mean, it's a g- it's a good thing, it just doesn't, it needs a new name. 'Cause what do we say when we're experiencing synergy here? Vibe. We're vibing. Uh. It's more than vibes. It's like- It's something that- … what we're all bringing to the table is catapulting us forward. One plus one equals three, man. It's, it's moving us forward. Who's that actor that says one point, one, one plus one is three? Terrence- Terrence Howard? … Howard? Let's just say we're Terrence Howard-ing. I have just been informed that there is a strong synergy user within Mythical. Ooh, wow. That came over Slack? That came over Slack, and I'm willing to say the name. Okay. Well, I'm willing to hear it. Are, are people, have people been talking about this? Uh, I don't know, but I, I just got a Slack- Like, is it common knowledge? Were you surprised? If you… No, I wasn't surprised. I don't work closely enough with this person to know, but- Okay … um, said lovingly I'm not surprised at all. Would you like to guess? Is this a, is this someone in management? Uh, yeah. Mm-hmm. Synergy. Mm. Um, I know it's not you. I don't send e- I don't send emails, man. I don't know. Who is it? It's- I'm gonna tell you if I'm surprised. It's Terrance. Terrance. Not to be confused with Terrence Howard. Terrence Howard. Our Terrance, yeah. Our Terrance, you know, he's a, he's the logistics guy. Yeah. I think it, I think he gets a pass. I think he can- C- because if… Yeah, I- I think he gets a pass. I think, I think he is the only able to synergize. Yeah, yeah, right. It's so important to his job- Yeah … to synergize. Yeah. That it, I mean, without another word. Until we come up with a better word for Terrance. You know? Of course, he could, we could go with Terrancing because then he could be the one who says it, and then it means him, and it means Terrence Howard, and- Yeah, I think, I think, I think that's what it is. And what are the chances? This is the worst. Uh, T- bring Terrance in here. Okay. No? No. All right. Uh, you know what? I'll just address him through the internet. Yeah. Terrance. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, not, not Howard, even though thanks for watching. Yeah. Uh, I'm talking to you, Terrance, that works for us. Well, what's your job title, you ask? Um, you are important. And I, I know it has to do with production. And we've heard po- in post. Yeah. Post-production, production. Yeah. Pr- pre-production too. You hold the purse strings. You make sure that, that we're not spending too much money on the stuf- Yeah, you didn't even have to guess really. We value what you do. Just afforded that whole thing. And, uh, we value the Terrance that you bring to everything. And when I say that, what I mean is this. Thank you. But we're not gonna say this anymore. Let's just say Terrance. Right. Your, your name now represents everything you wanna accomplish here. Just be, just be yourself I'm sure that's gonna go over well It'll go happen Uh, I got a little something for you here It's the worst We joke that you have a nice fat ass. But it's not even that fat. It's like a seven out of 10 max I expected that to rhyme like the rap did. No, no, the, the, these aren't, this, this isn't that bit Double click. What does it, what does this mean? This is like drill down. Oh, the new drill down- Yeah … is the double click. Yeah. I'm gonna … Let's double click on that. When somebody says double click- No. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Mm. I … Here's the thing. This, the, I think the thing that- That's worse than synergy … when you take something that happens on a computer and you bring that into the real world, I think that we should just have a rule against that. It's fine to take something that happens in, like, the Wild West, circle back, and bring it into the corporate. We don't take something from the computer and bring it in. Like, and by the way, like, we're gonna offline. We're not gonna do that. And download, we're not gonna do that 'cause that, uh, uh, that basically commits the same- Right offense. You know what I'm saying? I don't like that. As a principle, we sh- keep things on the computer on the computer. I c- I, I, I kinda like saying give me the download. Well, come up with a new thing. Unzip that file for me. I guess I did it again. I did it a- I can't help myself. How about back that thing up? Yeah, there you go. Yes. We … That works. I like that. Add that to the Terrance- So this is … So we've got Terrance for synergy. We got back that thing up- Back that thing up … for download. Double click, the, the reason why I have such a reaction, especially to double click, it just seems so toolish to say. It's like you're, you, you If you get so ingrained in your corporativity that you forget that you're a, that you're a person outside- We got another one … of the walls. Make, print another. Corporativity. Is that you, you've kinda lost touch with- Yeah. I hate this one … being a n- just being normal. Yeah. Like, speak like a normal person. Yeah. We don't, now we don't have anybody that double, says double click, right? I've been told that Terrance says it every single one of these. I mean, other than Terrance. Terrance says double click? Okay. What is this f- Friday Jr., I- This is new to me … never heard this. But as Mikayla pointed out, it just means Thursday. What, were you cheating, talking to Mikayla before we do this? Yeah. Well, she was here. You were apparently dropping a deuce on the other side. F- Friday Jr.- And, uh- … is Thurs… So it's like what we call spiritual Friday. Which I like better, you know? Yeah. Spiritual Friday. Okay. Um, I don't know. That's when you're shooting something that's going to, that's at the end of your shoot week, but it's not a Friday, just so you know. That's how we- Right … make sense of that. We, we don't have to shoot anything else that week, so it becomes a spiritual Friday. Yeah, and I've always taken issue with that because it doesn't apply to me. I have to work the next day. Well, we all do. Well, Brittany, we also work the next day. We're just not filming. Then it's a spiritual Friday for nobody. Uh, but this feels like a different job. Right? Well, let's see if we can get- Maybe we should close the loop on that Let's see if we can get a little Terrence, okay? Um, close the loop. Now, that's not… I say this one. This feels okay. Is that a c- is this a cowboy term? Is this a rodeo term? Yeah, yeah, if we can say that. You close the loop on something, like you throw a rope over the horns of a calf, and then you close the loop? I guess I just feel like it's so important to close the loops, that it's okay to say it. Well, maybe it would appeal to you guys. Some places say it originates from engineering, where it's like a closed loop system. Hmm. Circuit. A loop is not a loop until it's closed. That's why I think it's so important. This is redundant then. Yeah. It's cl- close the- Make it a loop. Let's not lose the loop here. I don't like that either. It's kinda like lose the plot. If w- we, w- w- Close the loop is redundant We lost track here. What's the, w- is your side the bad side? Yeah, yeah, yeah. My side's the bad side. Double-click's the bad side. Okay. I like download. I feel like it, but it violates our principle. Your principle. That we just, that we just created. It's not really my principle, but Friday Jr.- Close the loop Not- We have a better version of this. Close the loop's not bad. It's kinda like circle back. So I've got deck. Deck, which… Okay, I'm gonna turn these so they're not shiny. Whenever you show up with beard stubble, I assume you're having problems at home with the missus. I… Actually, it's the opposite. Oh, that's when she's letting you loose. No, no. If I'm sh- clean shaven, I'm having trouble at home. Oh, really? Yeah, she likes the stubble. She wants the stubble. Oh. She likes it a little rough. Uh, I wouldn't say that. But she, she likes it like this, but in order to get it like, or a little bit longer than this, I have to trim it back. So I have to trim it when we're, we're, we're not Terrencing. You know? When there's no synergy happening? Eh. We don't say that, though. Okay. Deck. Deck is PowerPoint? Yeah. It's just an agency term for PowerPoint. We use this a lot. Yeah. We're gonna send you a deck on that. A deck. And where does deck come from? It's like, I don't know what's the origin of that. This feels fine because it literally is just a name for an, it's just a noun. It's just a different thing to call something. You k- you know what I mean? Like, it's- Yeah, it's not used conversationally as much as… It's a term, but it's not- So it's fine. This is the fine side. Yeah, move it over there. This might be the best one. 'Cause we say it. Like, I- I, no, a- at no point, I'm not raising my eyebrows at all if somebody says, "I'm sending you a deck on that." Circle back, I'm raising a little bit of one eyebrow. What about, and this is our last one, bandwidth? Oh, we got some actual ughs. Y'all hate bandwidth? Well- But so it's, it's, it's a capacity. You're talking about capacity. It's also a computer term. It is a computer term. So you just wanna say capacity? Do you have any margin? I say margin. How's margin? Margin is like paper. It's on the edges. Well, they, they made it taste almost exactly like butter at one point. You're so funny. So, all right, so we're staying with a computer term. I like download better … I like bandwidth and I like download, but I don't like offline. How about this? Taking that offline sounds like we're killing it. Where in the world did your terrible personality come from? You know what? Get them all out of your system. You're enjoying it so much. No, I'm just picking the good ones. We're done with this, so go ahead. Uh. Go ahead. Go ahead. Okay. Let me have it. Okay, okay. Whatever you got left. All right. Okay. Um If you said I love you to a crew member, they most certainly won't say it back. Mm-hmm. You should have saved the- Yeah … the Carmen Sandiego. Well, that was supposed to be my last one- Oh … but then you dug a little deeper, you know? Okay. Okay, how about this one? I read your diary and it's boring as hell, no cap. You know what? Say the Carmen San Diego one again. Okay. Where in the world did your terrible personality come from? It- It's still funny. Yeah, that's good. That's good.
