check that out free trial for a month vessel.com/rhettandlink let’s talk and it’s also an app is actually a really good app it to be experienced on iPad iPhone in the Apple Store what’s also a website so the let’s talk about these prisms because obviously guys I’m joking a little bit when I say that I wanna go there I appreciate my life and I don’t worry you didn’t release it I’m not your one murder me he’ll link it’s impossible anyway you couldn’t kill you that daddy was just called how would you humor sarcasm she is just called humor but it is an interesting thing because I feel like you know we have a prison culture here in the United States right I mean it yeah it’s kind of a big like don’t we have the highest percentage of incarcerated people in the world in art in our country and you know and it’s a self-sustaining industry and there’s a lot of people who are just like punish them more isolate them and there’s all these studies coming out that this this isolation going into the whole you know being isolated there’s so many supermax prisons these guys are alone for a really long time there’s a lot of documentaries about this and there’s a lot of studies that have been done that’s showing that this is not a good thing you put these guys in there by themselves and they go bonkers and it’s they’re never going to be able to be released they’re never going to rehabilitate so I think this is coming from a totally different place the philosophies coming from different place its wall Norway people ship people screw up sometimes really really badly does that mean that they no longer have a chance that they are no longer are there certain crimes you should no longer have any part in society I think possibly I don’t know if like no matter what you do you should just get 21 years in prison I mean if you you go and kill a hundred people you know in a school I don’t think I think you kind of forfeited your right to be a part of society that’s my personal belief but we’re not really talking about that we’re just talking about the philosophy of prison interestingly what is their data because I think there is some data and there’s also data within two years of release only 20% of Norway’s prisoners end up back in jail this is the new thing we’re going to be doing also I’d like to make that special announcement from now on while facts will be given in unison in the UK and the u.s. it’s between 50% 60% well you said percent at the end I said it twice sorry you will get better at this you can send this to a minute in prison inmates in Norway’s prisons 3300 or 69 per 100,000 people there are I’m reading that but it’s not making sense anymore does that mean the only 3,300 and people 3300 people in prison there of course that’s 69 per hundred thousand people in the u.s. there are we can stop the Unison thing yes you were I can’t think and read in unison same time 2.3 million people in this country are in prison a 753 out of a hundred thousand the highest rate in the world and I said that a second ago now mate you know I don’t know there’s different factors in different countries and that kind of thing but this whole idea that oh let’s make the prison something where they can learn something where they can have value they can creep create value they can experience enriching things while they’re in there I think as long as they’re separated from society during that time that can only be a positive thing right I mean does it really make sense to put somebody into prison and D habilitative is that a word instead of rehabilitate ability ability them as opposed to rehabilitate them and then then get them out there on the streets and expect them to know how what to do know know how to not commit a crime well I I haven’t taken much of a course on this and I haven’t done much reading on they read something get ready for a good mythical morning I mean that says that’s a lot more than a lot of college courses teaching um I don’t know I think it’s I think it’s um I think it’s thought-provoking my thoughts are provoked oh come on you’ve got an opinion um you don’t like to have an opinion if they unusual what I don’t like to have an opinion on this Yeah right now you’re not liking having an opinion you’re liking not having opinion I think you tell us that I’ve always it’s just I’ve just always thought of prison as well you need to be punished for what you did you know it’s not just you don’t need to be punished you need to be separated and rehabilitated you know it’s so happening so that’s typically what they’re thinking about is here in America is just well well you just you you earned a ticket to the big house and so now you have to you know you got to be punished well it’s just a different I also think it’s not a change I know for a fact that there are dudes in the US prison who if you let them loose on this resort island prison they would kill everybody there I mean it I write chaos we have hardened criminals not that they don’t but we have a lot more but maybe that’s a result of the system as much as it is just culture now why are people being sent to prison and how many people are being sent to prison for what I think is a good question
