MK 548: Pro Chefs Cook the 151 Original Pokémon

Hey, welcome to Aprons Off, the show where we stop cooking and just kinda hang out, and today, we have a very special episode. We’re doing something that we have never tried before. Well we’ve tried it in different formats. We’re taking the original 151 Pokemon, which to me, canonically, are the only Pokemon, I don’t acknowledge the one that’s just like an ice cream cone, and like the sexy rat. No no no, we had ugly rat for me growing up. We’re gonna take the original 151 Pokemon, and as professional chefs, we’re going to tell you how we would cook and eat them, because Pokemon are indeed cooked and eaten in the series. They’re edible. All of ’em are edible. I disagree with this. Even the metal ones. You guys ready to get in? Because this is about to be a huge clusterfluff, like we’re not in for a good time. Trevor, you ready to start? Yeah, I’m ready to start. All right, we’re gonna go, this is the way a clock moves. My clock is my iPhone now. So Trevor, me, you, then we start with Trevor. And we’re gonna go quick. This is about to be the worst episode we ever made, and I’m very excited. All right. Let’s do it. In three, two, one, go! Boiled. That’s it. Okay, just boil Bulbasaur whole. Ivysaur, wrap in banana leaves, steam underground in a Maori barbecue pit. Venusaur, I would cut off the little mushroom and I would saute it, and then I would filet it, remove its head, and then stuff the mushroom inside of its body. Oh my god, that’s hot. Charmander, spicy, Nashville hot Charmander, break it down into its component parts, dust it in flour, spices, boom. Yeah, microwaved. Microwaved Charmeleon, great, love that for us. Charizard, I would only cook the wings, and I would do it in a spicy gochujang sauce. Y’know, Korean fried chicken wings. Charizard wings. That’s lovely. Oh, Squirtle, okay, Vietnamese turtle soup’s one of my favorite thing, you actually serve it inside the shell, ginger, garlic, scallion, aromatics, really good stuff. I don’t like this video. Boiled. Oh, Trevor, you can’t just say boiled and microwaved! Boil a Wartortle, where’s the flavor? Think! Blastoise. I would remove it from its shell, and I would barbecue it like I was at a Filipino barbecue, and then I would use the shell as decor. Caterpie, I’d go like chapuline style deep fried, chili lime salt, it’s a little bug, it’s gonna be crunchy, its exoskeleton’s gonna be good. Drink a couple Modelo Negras with it, boom. Raw, one bite. Just pop it in. Too hard, you’d break a tooth, it’s Metapod! No, it’s like a cocoon, dude. Butterfree, I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t. What? You have to eat the butterfly. I don’t want to. You can’t. I hate this. Weedle, okay, this looks like the Korean silkworm pupae soup, it kinda tastes like boiled peanuts, it’s really nice, again, I drank six to seven Hites with it. What’s the other Korean beer that I don’t like? Cass? Cass, yeah, I’m a hate guy. Deep fried. You’re doing great. Beedrill, I would just collect its honey, and I would do a glaze, I would glaze the Beedrill in its own honey. Everybody knows that’s big bee. Pidgey, oh my god, this is ortolan if I’ve ever seen it. Tiny songbird, drown it in Armagnac, steam it, eat it with a towel covering your head so you hide your shame from God. Oh, I don’t know why you made me do this video. Trevor, you love Pokemon! Eat them! Okay, I don’t know, I’d take its legs and deep fry ’em, make chicken wings. Attaboy. I already said that! I already said that for Charizard or whatever. I don’t care. What I would do with Pidgeot, I would remove its breasts and treat it like a squab, but I’ll cook it medium rare, and then I would serve it with a pomegranate molasses sauce. Lovely. Oh, Rattata, so river rats are really common in Russia, they actually grind them into burgers, they’re fully safe to eat. I’d probably do that, Russian style burgers, some little beet marmalade on there. Is that the sexy rat you were talking about? No, it’s ugly rat. New kids got sexy rat. Oh, this is a sexy rat. I’d put him in my hat and have him help me cook. Raticate. Spearow, I would truss its legs together, truss its wings together, pop it in the oven and cook it with onions and a little bit of potatoes underneath it to collect all the chicken schmaltz. Fearow, so these are predator birds, right? So I’d probably do a long cook, like a coq au vin style, just drown it in a ton of bourguignon wine, cipollini onions, all that stuff. I can’t, I can’t. Trevor, eat the snake! He’s a bad guy. Sous vide it. The snake is a bad guy, he helps Team Rocket. I don’t wanna, no, he’s not bad. Team Rocket’s bad, they make it bad. Team Rocket has a bad one. Arbok, I would poach this in a white wine bay leaf solution. I would pick its meat and I would make little Arbok patties out of it, almost like bacalhau. Yum. Little salted Arbok. No! No, Pikachu, so again, Pikachu’s a little rat, no, you have to do it, so what I’d do is I’d spatchcock it, I’d remove Pikachu’s spine, I’d flatten it, I’d go like Pikachu under a brick, get nice crispy skin. I would not cook anyone from the Pikachu family, I’m so sorry, it doesn’t feel right. What about Pichu? He’s a little baby, his meat’s tender. Nope, can’t do it. Oh, no! Yeah, eat Sandshrew. He’s a pangolin, the most trafficked animal on the planet. How are you cooking it? No, I don’t wanna do this! Trevor, do it. Microwave. Sandslash, I’d probably have to steam it to remove all of the sort of armor on it. Probably just steam, splash into hot oil Cantonese style chilies. Nidoran, I would cut it raw, and then I would have a stone, like a hot stone, like a hot pink Himalayan, actually, no, pink Himalayan salt, and then you would have to sear it on each side and it’d have a little shoyu for dipping. That’d be good stuff. Grilled. How are you gonna grill Nidorina? You gotta make dishes, man! How would you cook them? How would you cook them? This is a whole roast if I’ve ever seen it. Set up a pit, Argentinian style, fire going diagonally, almost like a crucifix. It’ll just cook it whole, like a whole hot barbecue. Nidoran. Again, I would also do the same treatment, I would slice it into thin slices and I would have a salt block and you would have- We’re only 30 in? No, all of the Nidoran family, I think we’re cooking the same, right? They deserve to be cooked. Nidoking, same thing. Right. Clefairy, now Trevor, that’s delicious. How are you eating Clefairy? No! I know how I would do it. S’mores. I would roast it on a pike, and then I would have chocolate and graham crackers, and it’d be a beautiful pink marshmallowy bite. That’s a delicious pink marshmallow. Oh, Clefable, okay, so here’s what I’m thinking, I’m thinking that looks stuffable. Right? So I’m gonna hollow out the cavity, I’m gonna make a farce out of its internal organ meat, kinda like haggis, or pancita in Mexico, and stuff it and roast it. Trevor, Vulpix. I’d just, I don’t know, you put it in a smoker, I don’t know. Yeah! Smoked fox? And then what would you put on it? Salt. I don’t know. Oh, like a classic Texas style rub, a Texan barbecue. I respect it. Yeah, that’s good stuff, man. Ninetales, okay, so this is a dog, and I don’t think people generally like eating dogs, but we have to do it for the sake of this episode, right? Oh, there’s actually this Vietnamese dish called , it’s a Northern Vietnamese dish. You stew it in turmeric and fermented rice. It’s really nice. What a beautiful Pokemon that was. Yeah, yeah. Jigglypuff? Jigglypuff! Okay, I would literally just fry it like a donut and then shove raspberry jam in its mouth. And squirt it in, and then I would just eat a Jigglypuff donut. Yep. What’s wrong with me? Wigglytuff, okay, now I think you render all the fat out of Wigglytuff like a lard pig, right? And then you sort of whip that fat with a bunch of powdered sugar. You know, and then just kinda make like a… A sweet lardo? Yeah, a sweet lardo, like a, yeah. Trevor, Zubat. Eat the bat. Trevor, you gotta eat the bat. You put it on a stick and you roast it over a fire, and you put sage on it. That’s a good way to eat a bat! Yeah. Golbat, yeah, I’m thinking like skewer, like a yakitori, you break down the Golbat, you know what I mean, into its component parts, crisp up the wings, serve it as a garnish. Sweet soy. Oddish, now some vegetarian cooking. Okay, I would serve a bunch of Oddishes, and then I would have a little bit of French style Normandy butter, with a little pile of salt, and then I would just do a dip and a dip and a bite. Gloom, okay, so if Oddish is like a French breakfast radish, Gloom is like a big ol’ daikon, or like a black radish, black radish. You steam a whole fish, and then you grate the black radish, the Gloom, and serve it on the side like you would do daikon and wasabi. Cute. Yeah. Eat it whole, get really stoned. Eat it whole, see God. Paras. Well obviously I would do a Vietnamese seafood boil, is it Vietnamese? It’s Viet-Cajun. A Viet-Cajun seafood boil, have some potatoes in there, a corn, why not? Yeah, ooh, Parasect. Parasect bourguignon. Parsley, garlic, butter, lemon, steam in the shell, serve it with a little fork. This is God’s greatest test. I don’t know, how do you eat a bug? It looks like a lion’s mane mushroom, actually. What, you roast a lion’s mane whole, deglaze? Venomoth, moth cookery, I think most bugs, you typically either wanna go into a soup, you know, to cook it down, if you don’t wanna eat the exoskeleton, or you’re gonna deep fry, cover it in chili, kind of like a thing. It’s just a little guy! I can’t! Not a little guy, it needs to be eaten. No, he doesn’t! I don’t know, you put him in stew. Put him in a stew. No, you gotta chop him, put him in a stew like a potato. He’s a potato. Oh, he is a potato, isn’t he? Also potato. Dugtrio, yeah, potato. Pomme puree, Joel Robuchon style, sans butter. No! Meowth, okay. You can’t eat Meowth! Yeah, this is, Meowth talks, right? Meowth talks like a human. I think Meowth is a humanoid, I wouldn’t eat Meowth. Can’t do Meowth. They all talk, dude. They don’t talk, they say their names, but Meowth is like a wise-cracking Brooklyn accent. Persian, now this cat is sexy. Most Persians are. But we probably should, right? Shank, Persian shank, just cook those hindquarters, look really juicy. Go French style, mirepoix, red wine, boom. Psyduck, foie gras! Foie gras! Foie gras! Foie gras! Yeah, emulsify its fattened liver with its own rendered fat. Serve it on the bills like a crazy person. Golduck, Golduck’s more of a wild, lean duck, right? What would I do with Golduck? Hm, probably do a little bit of a trussy truss, stuff its cavity, yeah, go whole, and then I’d stuff it with a bunch of, I’d actually do a preserved lemon, do like a Moroccan inspired roasted duck. That’s good stuff. Mankey, right? Indiana Jones. You just go, that was a racist depiction of many cultures, but I’d eat its brains. That was my favorite scene in a movie, ever. I’ll go, I’ll eat its brains, too. Why does Primeape kinda look like Guy Fieri? He’s kinda got, Growlithe. Growlithe! Growlithe is so cute, I can’t! Why? Growlithe is too cute. It’s the Puppy Pokemon! Yeah, we’re saying hypothetically! Its category is Puppy Pokemon? There’s lines I have to draw. Arcanine, this is an adult dog. An adult fire dog. You can eat an adult fire dog. What would I do with Arcanine? Yeah, yeah. I would skewer it, put it on a spit, and then do a mop of a vinegar-based barbecue. Like a rotisserie cooker? Yeah, yeah, that’s fun, that’s fun. Poliwag, Poliwag’s like what is that, like a tadpole situation? Almost like a snail kinda thing? A la grenouille, citrus zest, herbs, very simple preparation. Now this is a big one, Trevor. How you cooking Poliwhirl? Oh, god. Just take his legs, he’s like a frog. Take his legs, cook ’em up, fry ’em, put ’em in Tony C’s. Tony C’s! Cajun fried frog legs. Poliwrath. Okay, so I mean this would be like French preparation, right? Also, I said grenouille earlier, I meant grenobloise. This would be grenouille, this would be frog’s legs. I know, white wine, butter, simple. Trevor, you’re the expert, what animal is Abra and how do we cook it? It’s got a big tail that I would probably like to do, I feel like I could do like an ox tail. I don’t know that he’s, he’s not an animal, he’s a Pokemon. What do you mean? This one comes with its own spoon! Okay, so I would do Abra and Kadabra together, and then I would serve them side by side, and I would use meat glue to stick ’em together, and then I would cook ’em the same way, and then you would have to guess which one is Abra and which one is Kadabra, and then a sauce out of Alakazam! I got three out of the way. We’re so good at cooking. Trevor sucks at cooking. It’s true. Machop, Machop seems very humanoid, but it’s actually not, it’s more similar to a sort of panda bear, and the way that you would typically cook a panda bear is simply remove the belly, cure it, roast it whole, slice it- It was already fricked up that we’re cooking Pokemon, now you’re talking about cooking pandas? What? You can cook anything that’s… I’m not here for your moral relativist arguments. Machoke, that’s just a bodybuilder, you know what I mean? So its meat’s gonna be really tough. I’d say you’d have to do the breast very lean, lot of blood flow through there, probably sous vide it. Uh-huh. Here’s an interesting thing. Machamp, got six limbs. Wow. I would chop off all the limbs. Yeah. Same. Not even cook it. Nope. What?! Crazy, man. Bellsprout. Aw, well this is obvious. Squash blossom. Yeah, ricotta-stuffed squash blossom. Yeah, totally. Thin, lacy batter, tempura, deep fried. 100%. Little bit of tomato passata, lovely. Weepinbell, okay, that’s probably gonna have a little bit more body to it, right? I think you could do like a Weepinbell pizza. You ever have that squash blossom pizza in Mozza? You ever had that squash blossom pizza in Mozza? Yeah, I have. It’s good stuff. I would stuff this like a dolma, with rice and apricots, and a little bit of ground turkey. Delicious. Tentacool, okay, got big squid tentacles. Calamari. Calamari? Trevor’s doing a calamari? Good job, Trevor. Let’s go, we got so many more to get through. Tentacruel, okay, so this, I think, gochujang, like a Korean squid preparation, that’s lovely. It’s a rock. Stone soup! Stone soup! Stone soup. You get the minerals from the stone soup. Graveler, that looks like a truffle to me, I’m gonna shave raw Graveler, yeah, it’s a rock, but you get the flavor of, you know, the sort of like , it’s like a Rene Redzepi. Golem. Golem. This is based off of Jewish lore, which I really love, Golem, but I feel like it could retreat into its shell and you just barbecue that whole, and scoop out the insides with a spoon. That sounds really good. That sounds pretty solid? I haven’t had breakfast yet, I’m starving. Ponyta! Aw, no! What? No, no. Horse is very commonly eaten, in France, in Japan, you do a mane sashimi, it’s like a tartare, carpaccio, yeah. I wouldn’t cook Rapidash, I would just milk it, and make horse cheese. Be spicy milk. Spicy tongue. Slowpoke, so Slowpoke tail, Slowpoke tails are a big thing. Jamaican stewed Slowpoke tail. Right? You know, you make it sort of, yeah, spice-based. That’s literally a plotline in the game, where evil people are cut… Well, Trevor, they’re not evil, they’re just misunderstood. You’re only hearing that plot point from their perspective. Is Slowbro two Pokemon in one? No, it’s a parasite. Oh, cool! Okay, so we would remove the parasite, and treat it just like ox tail. Yeah. That’s ox tail, all right. Well, Magnemite I feel like you could jury rig into a cooking vessel to cook other Pokemon, right? You know, an electromagnetic… You’re gonna use the Pokemon to cook other Pokemon. I don’t see why this is confusing. I would do the same, yeah. Magneton, yeah, yeah, similar. Farfetch’d. So this is actually a metaphor in Japanese, for like if you’re, I think it’s if you’re kinda gullible, you’re seen as a duck walking with its own leek. As in you’re just asking to be killed and made into soup. So that’s what Farfetch’d is, so it’s already based off of Japanese dishes. Nice duck and leek soup. This looks endangered. Two heads, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. I don’t feel comfortable. No, but I mean ostrich, you know, braised and fried ostrich wings, we did that on the show, that’s really good, I feel like Doduo could do that. Also endangered, can’t do it. I feel so numb. Nah, take the breast, it’s really lean, healthy, good meat. Ostrich farms were all good. Oh my god. Seel! Muktuk. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trevor, seals are historically eaten by many cultures. That is correct. Yes, yes. There’s nothing wrong with that. You cure the fat, you know? Similar, same as Dewgong. Dewgong, muktuk, simple. You could make jerky out of it. Make jerky out of it. That’s good. Grimer. Ooh! You know what this reminds me of? This is like jenkem. This reminds me of ambuyat. You remember how we made ambuyat on the show one time? It’s a Burmese dish, right? Yeah, I would use ambuyat to pick up some beautiful fermented chili sauce, and have a nice cucumber on the side. Burma or Bhutan? I wanna say Burma, but I don’t remember exactly. I think Muk is jelly. I think Muk is jelly, I go simple. Peanut butter Muk sandwich. I think it would taste like jelly. That’s the one I can get behind. Shellder, we got a little baby oyster, this looks like a kusshi oyster, you know the little small, sweet, raw mignonette. Boom. Yeah, raw mignonette. Cloyster. Cloyster is like indestructible, hard to get open. This is an interesting-looking Pokemon. Yeah, yeah. I’d try and go raw on the half shell, don’t know if I could do it. Gastly, I’d use that to smoke my food, right? Okay. I’d use it to smoke a whiskey. Yeah. Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. Gastly whiskey? Yeah, yeah, and they go phssh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Haunter, disconnected hands, kinda love that. They look like chicken feet to me. Stewed chicken feet. Cool. Soy, white pepper. Very good. Yeah, get nice and gelatinous. Gengar. Gengar, he’s just a little evil guy. I feel like he would have the flesh of Ayam Cemani. How big is Gengar? That’s a good question. Do we have a, 1.5 meters. So he’s like five eight. Oh. Gosh, that’s huge. All right, Rock Snake Pokemon. Oh, I mean you could heat up Onix like a Japanese hibachi grill, yeah, yeah. Cook on Onix, okay. What’s a Pokemon that Onix likes? A Pokemon that Onix likes? Yeah, so I can cook that Pokemon on Onix. Drowzee! Drowzee. Drowzee looks like it’s got that big hooked nose of a camel, you know what I mean? Burger. Burger, we made camel burgers- Drowzee burger. Makes you sleepy. What does Drowzee do? Hypno. Hypno, I don’t trust Hypno. I wouldn’t eat Hypno. Krabby. Ganjang gejang. Like raw marinated crab? Why are all my answers Korean? I like Korean food. Korean food’s good. We’re doing so good. Goes to king crab. Yeah, king crab, you know, you’re at a steakhouse, side of Kingler with some drawn butter on the side. Mwah. Voltorb. Trevor, what the hell is this? This is a Pokeball. I thought this was a Pokeball. It’s a ball. So does the ball live in a ball? It’s an electric ball, I don’t know. Electric ball, what can we do? Well, we could use it as a heat source. Another heat source Pokemon. This is a cocky electric ball. This electric ball is like, it’s trying to pick me up at a bar. Gets its brows done at Vinita’s. Exeggcute! People are gonna say “It’s not eggs, it’s a seed that grows a tree.” It’s called Exeggcute. Ex-egg-cute. It’s an egg Pokemon. And when you think about it, seeds are just eggs, but for plants. You made a quiche, right? Oh, I made such a good quiche. Yeah, make an Exeggcute quiche. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cubone, oh, just bone broth. Cubone’s already got so many bones. You make a lovely bone broth. Wait wait wait, the category is Lonely Pokemon? God gave man dominion… You see that little hat that he’s wearing? That’s its dead mother’s skull. Roasted bone marrow on toast with a parsley salad and pickled shallots. Wears its dead mother’s skull. But what if, so does one Cubone have one… I mean does one mom have one Cubone? This is all upper body, the limbs are gonna be pretty useless. I’d probably just remove the loin, and then bacon wrap it to get some additional fat. Oh, that’s a good idea. Kicking Pokemon, hm. Well this Pokemon put up a fight. Yeah, yeah, that’s one of those where you get served like a whole living octopus. Yeah. You know? And you gotta… It’s illegal in most parts of the world. Oh, Lickitung, lengua asada, come on, Trevor, you wouldn’t eat lengua asada Lickitung tacos? Dude, I just, I’m gonna cry, man. I’ve already cried. Oh my god, these are my favorite Pokemon, Koffing and Weezing, ah, I love these! Koffing would give you a kinda dirty smoke in like a barbecue, you know the time where you get the sort of acrid, so I don’t know if we could use that. But maybe a cold smoke. Just a light, perfumey cold smoke on like a gravlax. Sniff it and see God. Weezing is depressed. I love Koffing and Weezing, those are my favorite Pokemon. Yeah. Why’d you point at me when you did that? You know Pokemon! Rhydon nuggets, next. Ooh! Chansey comes with its own egg? Okay, I would do, there’s a dish in Japanese- Mother with child, what’s it called, though? I don’t know. Oyakodon? Yeah, I think so. Meggie, is it oyakodon, mother with child? I don’t know! Well you went to Japan once. Oh my god. Tangela! Oh my god, oh my god, can I go, can I go? This is Spanish, it looks like the baby eels called anguillas? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh my god, olive oil, garlic, serve it with crusty bread, it’s a really fantastic eel soup. Trevor, you agree? Yeah, dude. Kanga- You can’t do this. Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan. Like Gengis Khan? Kangaskhan, I mean it’s kinda like a weird, it’s a kangaroo modeled after Kublai horror Gengis Khan. Oh, I’d make a spag bol. ‘Cause Australians love spag bol. Which is spaghetti Bolognese. Horsea! Don’t. Why? Can’t. It’s a seahorse, you can eat seahorses. You shouldn’t eat seahorses. I’m so confused at the lines that Nicole is drawing. Make a stock. What do you mean? You just dehydrate it and make a stock, like they use dehydrated crayfish in Senegalese food. This is horrible. Yeah, Seadra same thing. I can’t eat seahorses. Why can’t you eat a seahorse? I have limits! Trevor at least has a moral standing, where he doesn’t wanna eat any Pokemon. I wanna eat every Pokemon, because these are fictional, they don’t exist, and they don’t actually reflect anything about my actual morality. Swallow it whole. Give it to Steve-O, Steve-O swallows this whole as a gag. Staryu, so yeah, starfish are pretty inedible. I would say, and this one seems to be made of metal, and also I had a big crush on Misty, and she had a Staryu. That’s the one line that Josh is drawing. What? Dude, no, these are Misty’s Pokemon. I’m not messing with Misty’s Pokemon. I mean, she was kinda cool and tomboyish, you know? Starmie? Just as decoration on a plate. Oh, that’d be nice. Yeah. Mr. Mime, roast him whole, eat his shoes! Do it in front of Mrs. Mime! What is this thing? This is an abomination of God, Trevor. Mr. Mime goes against God. Scyther, bug Pokemon. What are all the good ways to eat bugs? I know in Thailand, they skewer and barbecue ’em a lot. Like the grubs? Keep ’em crispy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but, or like mopane worms, in Southern Africa. Sure. This is a Nicki Minaj Pokemon. What’s going on with Jynx? Trevor, can you explain what Jynx is? It’s the Nicki Minaj Pokemon. Electabuzz! Sichuan, mala. You do, there’s a dish called little sister rabbit in Sichuan food. You do it with , a lot of chilis, lot of peppercorn. Magmar, what kind of animal is this? Looks like it’s called a Spitfire Pokemon. I don’t know that they’re all after normal animals. Magmar ham. It’s got thick haunches. Spicy tasso ham. Pinsir. It’s like a weird land lobster. It’s a weird land lobster. I’d make lobster tacos, ’cause Pinsir’s probably cheaper than using actual lobster, and people are like “This is just langoustine.” Lobster roll. It’s a beetle. Tauros. Okay, well, yeah. It’s a carpacc, right? Oh, no, are you kidding me? Barbacoa. No way, Tauros is too lean for barbacoa, this is a carpaccio, serve it raw. It’s a wild cow. Get outta here. Magikarp. Magikarp, to me, this is a good, oh, lomi ‘o’io, lomi ‘o’io, it’s a small, it’s like poke, but you pound the fish instead of cube it. Trevor? Good luck. Gyarados? Yeah, what do you mean “Good luck”? You’ll die before eating. Trevor, do we go out and kill our own food? Is it poisonous? No. No, it’s just big. I don’t know, ceviche. Unagi. Okay. What is this? Lapras is a Transport Pokemon. Lapras is like the most wholesome Pokemon of all time. Okay, well then we have to eat it. Barbecued Lapras neck. Fair. Like a hamachi collar? Ditto’s old gum. This is old gum, you chew it. Eevee, too cute! Eevee’s very cute, Eevee’s very cute, which is why I regret that we would have to barbecue its head whole. Stop barbecuing all of these! That’s the best way to cook animal, people have been cooking with live fire for thousands of years. Jolteon’s like a wild game that you would want, it almost looks kinda rabbit-like. I’d do that dish where you cook the rabbit in its own blood and an emulsification of its liver. Yum. Flareon. The same, but spicy version. I don’t know, I’d probably remove its loin and then wrap it in bacon, and then deep fry it. Porygon, Josh. Porygon looks like rock candy to me, so I’d make Chinese red braised pork. You see how easy this is, Trevor? It’s so easy, it’s just cooking. I would just dip it in chai. Omanyte. Omanyte. Do you remember when you had that lovely Vietnamese snail? Oc Lau! Oc Lau number two. Fantastic. Coconut milk, basil, chilies, lemongrass. Yum. Same thing, throw some Omastars in there. Literally extinct Pokemon. Can only get it from using a fossil. Kabuto. It’s like a cephalopod. Yeah yeah, I would just rip it out, pick it up, and I would just, I would cut it up super super fine, almost like spicy tuna. Yeah, lovely. Yeah, on top of crispy rice. That’s great. Kabutops. The head looks like a Dungeness crab to me, so I’d do like Kabutops brain fat fried rice. You take the internal juices from the head. Aerodactyl. This is a dinosaur. You can’t eat dinosaurs, it’s illegal. No, birds are dinosaurs, so this just tastes like bird meat. But it seems to be a predator, so it’d have a very strong flavor to it, so I’d counter that with several other strong flavors. Oh my god. Snorlax! Well obviously, you’d make bacon. Yeah, yeah. Snorlax belly bacon. Great fat. Articuno. Trevor’s, are you gonna try? Trevor, what’s an Articuno? It’s a bird, it’s a legendary bird. Looks like it tastes like menthol. Yeah, okay. So what do we do with that? I mean like, you could do like, what’s a minty meat dish? A minty meat dish? We’re onto Zapdos. Persian food uses a lot of fresh mint. Yeah, you could probably cut it up into a yogurt sauce. Let’s just go to Moltres. Okay. Zap…? Zapdos. Is that the… Laziji? Sichuan fried chicken? Okay. Electricity. Moltres, I would make it into a chicken sausage and then serve it for a breakfast. It’s already smoked, Trevor, ’cause it’s on fire. Okay. That’s… Dratini, this is my favorite Pokemon! Yeah, so, you know how you have freshwater eel, saltwater eel? And there’s different preparations with both, but I feel like Dratini would have small bones in it that you would actually want to use in preparation, you’d probably have to score it, yeah. Okay. Dragonair, same. Now to me, this is unagi. This is proper freshwater, big filets, just sushi, yeah. Dragonite. All these got big, thick looking hams, and I just can’t stop thinking about making them into ham. But look, he got a big belly, too. You know? Mewtwo. This looks like frog legs to me. Those look like frog legs, and then we got one more, Mew! Mew looks like balut. It looks like the little embryo inside balut. And I would simply put soy and vinegar on it, maybe a little bit of pepper. Ooh, you wanna go like Japanese sansho pepper on it. And then just suck out its brain. Yeah, we all did it. Well we got through. We did it. We got through all 151 original Pokemon. I think we came up- Trevor’s scarred. I’m confident in my abilities as a chef, and you did really well. Same. I gotta go home. Trevor, I think we got a couple really , that’s the bell, you know what that means. It’s time to give some advice to a fan, and look right here, we got a question from @PeteBarnett2531, “What’s the craziest thing that you’ve ever seen in a walk in? Ever seen any meltdowns?” Coitus. You saw coitus. You saw coitus? People making love. I didn’t see coitus, but I heard about coitus. Yeah. Oh. Okay. One time, I was working at a restaurant, and I was their pastry chef for some reason, and I had to make a cake, and I had to ice a cake, but it was way too hot in the kitchen, so, the chef there made me sit in the freezing cold walk-in to ice a cake while I was crying my freaking eyes out, just bawling, icing this cake that just wouldn’t wanna ice. And that was the worst experience ever, which is why I don’t work in restaurants anymore. Illegal drugs, because the DARE program failed us. Anyways, thank you all so much for watching Aprons Off, this is actually going to be our last Aprons Off for a while, but we wanted to leave you with a big ol’ banger of an episode, and I hope that Trevor’s emotional torment really fuels your love for us. I’m sorry, buddy. What did I do to deserve this? We thought you’d find this fun. When you agreed to it, we thought it was gonna be exciting. Anyways, we got more great stuff out, keep watching, keep liking and subscribing. We’ll see you all next time. One of our fan favorite styles just got a summertime upgrade.
