We spent $50 at three different grocery
stores to see how many hamburgers we can
make. Welcome to Mythical Kitchen first
inaugural burger night.
Everyone, why did it take so long for
everyone to clap? I thought we were all
excited.
>> I didn't know that's what this night was
called.
>> We're doing burger night.
>> It's like 9:00 a.m. It's not
>> last time. Okay, burger morning. Sorry,
I'm excited for burger morning. Um,
burger morning sounds like a weird
religious holiday in Austria that you
haven't heard of, you know. Anyways, uh
so we each went to three different
grocery stores and we had $50 in our
pocket. So our goal was to spend that
$50 as efficiently as possible while
also still having something delicious
and creative, right? We didn't just want
to make plain meat on buns. Uh so I went
to Walmart, you went to Trader Joe's,
Nicole, you [laughter]
you bougie Beverly Hills, you went to
Arowan.
>> You were going to say bougie Beverly
Hills B word.
>> I WAS I DON'T USE GENDER PORATIVES. I
grew up in the 2010s. We still had
principles back then.
>> Josh is going to call me the B- word on
camera.
>> Nuh-uh. I've never done that. $5.
>> I've never called you the B- word unless
it was ironic. [laughter]
>> Well, yeah. We all went to different
grocery stores. And look at our bounty.
Look at all of the beautiful things Josh
got.
>> I feel like we have baskets that are
very indicative of our grocery stores.
Like this is a Trader Joe's ass grocery.
>> It sure is.
>> 100%. With that everything but the
elote.
>> That's the best part.
>> I agree. It is. It's so Trader Joe's. I
feel like I have a very Walmart basket
on account of the fact that it's just a
ton of loose ground meat. I got Can I
tell you I really wanted to spring from
more expensive cheese, but I couldn't
find it in my budget.
>> You guys have cheese? [laughter]
>> Yeah. I'm so sorry. Cheese at Airwan's
like $10. No. Um I really wanted the
Craft Deluxe singles or I wanted like a
cheddar cuz I'm doing like a bacon
barbecue burger. Uh this was too cheap
to pass up. I would have had to like cut
my amount of meat uh or not been able to
like fry my onions and I really want
that. So, I'm going with just a straight
Great Value. I think I can make a ton of
burgers with this. And I think it's
still going to be really tasty.
>> This is a very man grocery shopping
counter.
>> I feel like I'm dressed like a very dude
bro right now, too. You know what I
mean?
>> You're hella dude, bro.
>> I feel like I just came back from
football practice, you know?
>> Yeah. And you still smell, but you're
about to make burgers.
>> I tried to teach the kids life lessons
along with lessons on the field. You
know, like lessons off the field are
just as important as lessons on the
field. sports.
>> So, our goal today is to see how many
burgers we can make with this $50. And
also to see ultimately where your money
stretches the furthest. Y'all ready to
cook?
>> I'm ready.
>> Hell yeah. Let's do it.
>> How many buns do we have?
>> We have 24, guys. We can make 24
burgers.
>> Let's do it. Let's commit to something.
Let's have principles today. We're going
to make 24 whole ass hamburgers WITH
$50.
When's the last time that you went to a
fast food restaurant and you could buy a
hamburger for $2?
I My wife went to a fast food restaurant
for the first time cuz it was banned in
her hometown. $15 for a hamburger
combination.
I don't That's real. That's real. She
paid $15 for a hamburger combination
plate. I don't want to live in a world
where my wife has to pay $15 for a
hamburger.
Making it for $2. I have to do some
quick math. So, we have Hold on. 16 oz
to a pound. 4 and 12 lb.
>> Is this how we're starting the episode?
>> I think we started. The cameras have
been on. They're doing the damn thing,
man. 72 /
>> three. Uh, okay. Can you can you do me a
solid? Can you
>> take this ground beef? You're going to
form it into 3 oz patties. We have
parchment sheet here. When you're making
a ton of burgers, um, I did this. I I
threw like a really cool uh uh Fourth of
July party last year, but except I did
my invite
>> because it's America. You didn't know
the people's house. It was It was a
whole thing. I'm lying. I'm not lying.
It was there. It was It's kind of weird.
Anyways, Fourth of July celebrates
something about America.
>> Okay.
>> And then I But I figured, you know,
which America? So, I did a whole South
American interpretation and so I made uh
like Joripan burgers and so I I did a
whole Yeah. Thank you. Uh and so you got
to create an assembly line if you're
doing burgers. So, right now we're doing
my rendition of the Great American
Classic. I'm doing my interpretation of
the Carl's Jr. Western Bacon
Cheeseburger, which is
>> four.
>> I'm doing my interpret [laughter]
>> crap. Why is your meat white? It's
chicken.
>> Great.
>> You can't ask chicken why they're white.
>> I can't ask chickens why they're white
when their meat is white.
>> Yeah, you can't.
>> Sorry.
>> That's the rules.
>> So, I wanted to make a nice play off my
favorite thing to make on barbecue days
since Josh brought that up. And that's
elote and chicken, but I'm combining it
together and we're making an elote
chicken burger. This is so creative. I'm
so excited. Also, the amount of produce
you have versus what Josh did is
absolutely insane. [music]
>> What are you going to throw on this? So,
we got the elote seasoning in the
chicken.
>> Yes. And then we'll probably add a
little bit of salt cuz I don't Have we
tasted this?
>> Would you like me to add Would you like
me to add salt inside or over the top?
>> Let me taste this.
>> Big fan of tasting seasonings from the
Trader Joe's. Are you a Trader Joe ho
like me?
>> Yeah. And I live next to Trader Joe's.
Don't find out where I live. That'd be
really screwed up.
>> Okay.
>> And I walk all the time to my local
Trader Joe's. What do I do?
>> Really? Don't find out where I live.
>> Nope. Don't do that.
>> Don't find out where I live.
>> It still needs a little salt, though.
>> Okay. You got it.
>> So, you want salt in the burger mixture.
Sure. You got it.
>> Why not?
>> So, we have 3 lbs of ground chicken meat
here, which will be four if 4 oz
patties.
>> Yes.
>> And we're making 12 because we have 12
burger buns. As you can see, my eyes are
closed because I can't do math with my
eyes open.
>> Good math. The code math.
>> I have really bad math anxiety. It's
actually a problem and it has plagued me
my entire life. If you want to be my
math tutor, hit my line. This is corn.
I'm going to put it in the microwave.
Okay. [laughter]
>> All right. Have fun, kiddo.
>> Okay, that's a good mix. Um, you know, I
have no idea what this tastes like. My
mom always tells me whenever she makes
like any sort of like meat patty mixture
to like taste a little bit of it raw.
And I'm like that's a really bad idea,
Mom. But you know what? She's lived a
long beautiful life. Knock on wood. Yes.
>> So if it's good enough for my mom,
>> maybe it's good enough for me. No, she
doesn't do it with chicken. She does it
with meat.
>> Chicken say [laughter]
>> I'm not going to do it. Should I do it?
>> Do what? Do what?
>> Taste a LITTLE BIT OF
>> NO. [screaming]
>> OKAY, everyone chill out.
>> Hey.
>> Yes, chef. Josh just tried to mansplain
a Gibson martini to me.
>> Actually, Nicole, I successfully
mansplained a Gibson martini to you.
>> Also, cocktail onions and die, Dr.
Pepper.
>> Cocktail onions in a martini is called a
Gibson.
>> I know that.
>> Okay.
>> All right. Come on. [laughter]
>> Hi, I'm going to be making a Thai smash
burger because why the f not?
>> And I'm going to help. So, my vision
here, the reason why we're doing two
smash burgers instead of [music] one
thick burger is because I want to get a
lot of that crispy contact surface twice
because we don't have any cheese, but we
do have very punchy, delicious flavors.
We have srano, we have green onion, we
have this sweet chili sauce, which was
$11.
>> That's nothing but futs.
>> You want to try it?
>> Yeah. It's $11. So, Arowan um
>> should I drink it? Yeah.
>> I mean, that's nice. That's like $6
nice.
>> I don't like it.
>> It's kind of not great.
>> It gave me chills. Was never a good
sign.
>> I mean, this is It tastes like
McDonald's sweet and sour sauce.
>> I made a mistake.
>> You wanted air one.
>> I want I didn't want. You bestowed one
on me.
>> I did. Which one? Which Which one did
you want, Nicole? Whatever you want to
do, we can do. Hey, do you like
arguments like this? What if I told you
that you can go back and listen to us
doing this for six years for an hour a
week, hardly ever missed a week on the
Hot Dog as a sandwich podcast.
>> These are good.
>> Let's do one of our famous bits from a
hot dogs a sandwich.
>> Well, Nicole, we've listened to what you
and I have to say. Now, what other wacky
ideas are rally out there in the
universe? Time for a second we call
>> opinions are like casserles. You can do
you can listen to hundreds of episodes
of us doing that. There's a lot of
episodes.
>> Fine.
>> What's 52 * 6?
>> Are you just going to Was your vision
just to put Oh, uh 312. Your vision just
to put a whole lot.
>> We might have done 312 episodes.
>> Sorry, I didn't mean to shush you.
>> Probably like I'm saying like 284.
There's one pandemic when we take a
break.
>> Yeah. No, my vision is to chop this up
fine. Almost like an escoete.
>> Is that [laughter] the right word?
>> Like a what?
>> Like an escoete. Do you want me to man
explain the origins of Escobache to you?
>> You know what? I have nothing else going
on. So, yeah.
>> Nothing goes better with a feelood meal
like a burger than a feelood soda. This
portion of today's episode is sponsored
by Lollipop, a healthier soda
alternative. [laughter]
>> Lollipop 6 g of fiber line has a refresh
look for summer, but it's still the same
great flavor and digestive health
support you know and love. Let's crack
this bad boy open. You got to huff root
beer before the first sip.
Heavy on the peppermint just like I like
it.
There's seriously nothing better than an
ice cold root beer, especially with a
burger. It's so nostalgic for me. It is
that flavor combination that doesn't
exist legitimately anywhere else in the
world. It's that like source barilla
peppermint. So good. And the fact that
you're actually getting functional
ingredients with it. Like this really
rules. Not only have they amped up their
look, but they're getting in the music
biz. I am I am I'm dead serious. Can you
guess the genre?
Lollipop lollipop.
>> It's retro pop. Get it?
>> Does pop like soda? It's pretty catchy,
too. It's no Polish doom metal, but it's
it's close. Lollipop truly is the
feel-good soda. It's high in fiber, low
in sugar, and is made with a functional
ingredient blend. They are truly
redefining soda. I mean that with every
ounce of my chest. We make a lot of
content here in the Mythical Kitchen
that hopefully makes you feel good. And
when you're feeling good, it makes you
want to do good. Lollipop is no
different because they want to give back
to you. Buy any two cans of Lollipop in
store and they'll pay you back for one.
Works on any flavor in any retailer.

Lollipop is available in the soda aisle
and with the chilled beverages at
thousands of retailers nationwide,
including Walmart and Target. Thanks
again to Lollipop for sponsoring this
portion of today's episode. We're making
an interpretation of either the Burger
King rodeo hamburger or the Carl's Jr.
western bacon cheeseburger depending on
what you grew up with. But it's a
classic combination of some sort of
fried onion. This bacon is mangled,
dude. What the hell is going on?
>> It's a lot of meat for two bros.
>> Not two bros. You are the friends over,
dude. We got similar friends.
>> Oh, but I didn't get invited to the
barbecue.
>> We got 24 burger patties made.
>> One, two, three, 24.
>> 24. You said you weren't good at math.
Look how good at math you are.
>> So good. Wow.
>> We have so many slices of bacon in the
in the oven right now. That's baking
off. Um, this is a great way to cook
bacon and mash. Just put it up. You can
put on a rack. You don't even got to put
it on a rack, but it's going to get nice
and crispy cuz all that fat's going to
render through it. I got to start
cutting up onions. We need someone to
start peeling cheese. So, we got to
assembly line it.
>> Cheese lady.
>> Cheese peeler. WANTS THE CHEESE. NICOLE.
NICOLE. CHEESE PEELER. Get in there.
>> Okay. I'm going to pour a little bit of
milk. We could use buttermilk. Could use
egg. I don't know. We just need
something to wet the onions.
>> Uh uh. You want to start cook?
>> Hey.
Really taking the opportunity for camera
time? Huh?
>> Always.
>> Okay. Salt up these burgers. Just start
frying them off. I'd say crank that as
like as hot as it can.
>> I'm going to crank that Soulja Boy right
now.
>> Can we get Soulja Boy on the damn show?
>> How much cheese? All this.
>> Uh, we're getting all of it. So, it's
exactly 24. We have 24 buns, 24 slices
of cheese, 24 burger patties. I hope we
have enough onions to get through 24
burgers. Um, we're just I'm going to get
these like razor thin. Oh,
>> so the western bacon cheeseburger,
>> which used to be two for $3 on special
occasions, and now thanks to inflation,
I think they'll still do two for $6 um
special promotions, which is great. But
like at Carl's Junior, it is one of the
world's great hamburgers. Um I instead
of doing onion rings, I like to do a
very thin onion strings. So what I'm
going to do is I'm just going to like
razor thin chop these onions right here.
And then we're gonna get them in a
little bit of flour at Thonny Sasheries.
And then we're just gonna like soak that
in a little bit of milk. Dude, this Tony
Sasher is old. It don't even look red
anymore.
>> I'm sorry to interrupt, but can you
speak to the pun that's on the carrot
jar?
>> What?
>> What did you say?
>> I know. You couldn't let that You
couldn't let the pun go.
>> Chariots of Fire.
>> Oh, no way.
>> It's not even a pun.
>> It's It's based off of the the movie
Chariots of Fire.
>> I understand that. But what is a
chariot?
>> You're saying that they're making a port
monto of carrots?
>> Are we going to get sued?
>> Chariots.
>> Are we going to get sued if I sing the
Chariots of Fire song?
>> That's crazy.
>> Oh my god. Sometimes you're running in
slowmo going.
>> Let's play. Can we sing that or will we
get sued?
Chariots of Fire by Vanelis. This song
will become public domain in 2093.
[cheering]
We're only making four burgers. It's
>> crazy. I disagree. Why is that so crazy?
>> I disagree with your technique right
now.
>> Why?
>> I think you should just make a nice
juicy quarter pound patty.
>> Well, this isn't your recipe.
>> It's not. And it's not.
>> And I'm going to say and I will take a
backseat.
>> My boundaries are important for me to
keep strong.
>> Okay, Jonah Hill. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Talk
about your boundaries.
>> I I want to make this program. I want to
this this is a vision I have and I want
you to help me actualize my vision.
>> How fine do you want the dice in the
>> fine as boy? [laughter]
NO, SHE DOES NOT GET TO CALL ME BOY. I
HAVE NEVER CALLED her the b- word in 6
and 1/2 years. THAT'S HOW MANY EPISODES?
312. And she can't call me boy.
>> You can call me [ __ ] and I can call YOU
BOY.
>> I DON'T WANT TO. I NEVER WANTED TO. I
don't believe in gender poratives. I'll
call you an [ __ ] You know why? Cuz
it's gender neutral.
>> Um I think I did my math wrong. So cute.
So stupid. So stupid.
>> What kind of math you trying to do?
>> Stupid. I I think I'm making 2 oz
patties when I need to be making 3 oz
patties. That's a pound of meat.
>> Yes, this is a pound.
>> 16 ounces.
>> Correct.
>> So, you're making four hamburgers,
>> right?
>> So, that's going to be 4 ounces per
hamburger. Two patties per hamburger.
So, I'm doing a good job.
>> You're doing a great job.
>> What is wrong with me? If if you have
math anxiety, comment, I have math
anxiety. [laughter]
>> If you have meth anxiety, stop doing
math.
>> We're back. We made 12 patties, but you
only see four.
>> Yes. I'm going to sear the ever living f
out of these.
>> Yes, as you should. I'm going to make
the ulote in a corn. I have some mayo,
some chopped cilantro, some chopped red
onions, and then we're going to dive
right into our avocado creme after this.
>> So hot. These burgers get so damn hot.
>> God damn. I've always been a little iffy
about Trader Joe's mayo just because it
has such a different flavor from regular
ass mayo.
>> What does it taste like?
>> Put your finger in there.
>> Wow. When I put my finger in, nothing
lifted up. Nope. Scary. It's like
bouncy, right? It kind of just tastes
like soybean oil.
>> I like it. It's very neutral.
>> I like for my mayonnaise to be neutral,
especially in this application.
>> Cuz I don't like to over mayonnaise my
elote. Just enough to like cover it. I'm
excited to taste this combination of
things together cuz I love all these
elements. [music] An avocado crema sexy
elote. Sexy chicken.
People don't think chicken's sexy. I
think it's a very hot. You forgot a sexy
item. Vaos says, "Thank you." I don't
make avocado crema that much. It depends
on if I'm feeling it for like some
shrimp tacos or like a burrito, but not
too often. I kind of keep this separate,
but I was feeling a little zesty today.
>> You're feeling zesty.
>> I'm feeling real zesty. So, I'm going to
add it and put it together. We have some
Greek yogurt. I like to use this instead
of sour cream. I'm just not a sour cream
girly. I I'll eat all I eat all dairy.
all the time.
>> If dairy is in front of me, I will be
trying it. Right now, I'm reeling it
into goat milk.
>> Oh, delicious. It's literally delicious.
As someone who's lactose intolerant, I
feel like it's very good on my digestive
system.
>> Mhm. Mhm. I know about IBS. Yes, I do.
>> So, I'm a goat milk girl now. All right.
I'm going to squeeze some limes in here.
I put a lot of avocado, but we got a lot
of birds to cover.
>> I'm excited for this. There's so many
fresh, beautiful elements in this
freezer. I think that's enough.
>> You think my pen's going to catch on
fire?
>> Yeah, it might.
>> We haven't had an accident like that in
a long time, huh? Have we? Has a pen
caught on fire anytime recently?
>> No, it's been a long time. I think our
last Was she our last accident?
>> We're just knocking on wood.
>> Oh, you're knocking on wood. I was like,
is someone outside?
Come in. [laughter]
>> Hey, do you think I should char the
scallion ends?
>> That could be fun.
>> Can I do that?
>> That feels very heroiny.
>> Okay. Can we throw it in the broiler
that's down here? Yeah, dude.
>> Okay, thank you.
>> Make a little scallion ash.
>> No, we don't need to take it that far.
>> Okay.
>> But I do want to broil them. So, maybe
maybe you can grab a sheet pan and put a
little bit of oil and then put the ends
in.
>> I I would I would not do oil. I would
let them just char without oil.
>> Josh, RESPECT MY BOUNDARIES.
>> I'M OFFERING SOLUTIONS. OKAY.
>> YEAH, SURE. Do whatever you want.
[laughter]
>> Okay.
>> We're tossing these in the oil. And this
is an exercise in trust.
Yep, that's right. Do you also want to
maybe try one of the Serranos or both of
the Serranos or none of the Serranos?
What do you think?
>> Huh? I like the idea. I like a raw chili
flavor and something like this. I prefer
a raw chili flavor.
>> Do you see how healthy that was? We
communicated and we heard each other
out. Okay, let's make smash burgers.
>> Let's do it.
>> I agree with those.
>> Do you know what I need? I think I need
like
>> You want me just hack up cilantro?
>> Yeah, hack up cilantro.
>> Do you want me to leave any hole for No.
No, I don't think we need anything
whole. Um I I need like a like a and a
you know what I mean? I need a I need a
flatty and I need a
>> ONE FLATTY. YES, SURE.
>> I need a flatty and I need a sticky. I
need a flatty and a sticky. A flatty and
a sticky if I need to express. Okay.
Yeah. Flatty and a Oh.
Huh? Oh, yes. Okay. Yes. Okay. I will I
will hear you out and if it doesn't
work, I'll be really upset.
>> Flatty and a sticky. Call me and Nicole.
Which one's Flatty? Which one's sticky?
and find out.
>> I think you're sticky. Oh, this salt is
bigger than I was in.
>> Tell you what, I look like I'd be sticky
all the time. I'm not.
>> Josh isn't the sticky one. If anything,
I'm the sticky one.
>> Cuz I don't like being sticky.
>> I love being sticky.
>> I'm gross. Sticky implies. Go ahead,
Nicole.
>> Actually,
>> you're finishing your thoughts.
>> No, no, there's no thoughts to to say.
No, I have nothing else to say.
>> What's making you sticky?
>> Whoa. This turned off cuz it got so hot.
>> It says E6. And Nicole says, "I'm fly
like an
>> E6."
>> Let's play. Can We sing That or will we
get sued? Like a G6 by Far East Movement
featuring the Cataracts and Dev. Come
back after the year 2000.
>> We've rarely been sued here at Mythical
Kitchen.
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah, we need to do Taylor.
>> I'm flipping. I'm flipping.
>> Flip it. Flip it. Flip it.
>> I'm flipping. I'm flipping. I'm
flipping.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yo. So, when you V when you
flip it, pop those on there. We're
called This is called sandbagging in the
restaurant world.
>> What?
>> This is where uh uh uh rather than just
put these directly into the bun, you're
going to create an assembly line. So,
slap those in there and then put a slice
of cheese on each one. It shouldn't melt
in the heat.
>> I'll get there. I'll get there.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> They're cooking. They're cooking.
>> We got to go. I'm dredging these onions
right now in the flour.
>> Hell yeah, brother. Uh, I have a bad
night.
>> I'm going to I'm going to try to move
faster over here.
>> Josh, you idiot. Sorry. Hey, no. No
negative self-t talk today. It's burger
night and that and what does that mean,
Taylor? No negative self-t talk.
>> You're the only one doing it.
>> Drop. Yes. Chef, how we doing on that?
>> We're doing good. We're doing I might
pull it just so I CAN KEEP GOING.
>> RATS.
>> THEY'RE They're shrinking, boss.
>> My damn head. Yeah, they're shrink.
We're getting a lot of shrinkage on
them, huh?
>> Yeah. Yeah. It's okay. It's okay.
>> Are they shaking too much? Try and smash
them down if you can cuz those are a
little sad.
>> I'm going to do the next batch smashy.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Those are those are little poulry.
>> A little Okay. Wait.
>> Little palry. So, we're adding cheese
right when these are off. We might have
to like hit these in
>> oven,
>> but that cheese should just kind of
blanket. Yeah. These these are shrinking
too much. Try and smash them down if you
can.
>> Okay. I I don't think this pan works on
this.
>> What? This it says E6. What does that
mean?
>> FLYING THE PAN OUT, BOSS. GET A NEW PAN
THERE, BOSS. Hop the higher, boss. Yes,
chef.
>> Thanks,
guys. God. God damn it. Move. Hey, move.
See, I don't know where [ __ ] is this
goddamn kitchen no more. Found it.
Jeff, [laughter]
>> Josh is turning red.
>> Yes, Jeff.
Like Eigore.
>> Are [laughter] you okay?
>> Who's Eigor?
>> Yes, master.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yes, master.
>> I saw that for the first time recently
in the movie.
>> Experiment will be done.
>> And here in here, in here.
>> Your experiment will be done. The whole
world will take you serious. [laughter]
>> I actually saw that recently for the
first time along with the producers and
it was really fun.
>> How young you talking about? YOUNGSTEIN.
>> OH MY GOD, IT WAS SO HOT.
>> It's so hot. Yeah, it came straight out
of the oven.
>> Also, it keeps saying E6.
Hold on.
>> Oh god. This is just a whole man. That's
yours.
>> That's not mine. No, it's not. My hair's
not that straight right now. Is it? My
hair's that straight right now. I'm
going to check my scallions. Scallions.
SCALLIONS ARE GREAT.
>> COME ON. Come on.
>> Okay. Should we do our in our inaugural
smash?
>> Are you still saying, did they smash?
[laughter]
>> Are they still saying that? Was it? Cuz
that was an O Generation thing, right?
>> What are you talking about?
>> Like, wasn't that like a Jersey Shore
thing? Like a like
>> Oh my god. I was just I was smoosh.
Yeah. Smush. They
>> had a smush room.
>> Yes. Snookie needs to smush.
>> I want to smush with that smush smush.
>> I want to smush with the gorilla.
>> What are you talking about? That
happened in the show.
>> Yeah, she used to call Juice Heads.
>> All of them for last meal.
>> Snookie eats her last meal. Dude, are
you kidding me? I need to watch that
now.
>> All right. All right.
>> Did you know that she's adopted? I
thought you about to say she's a doctor.
[laughter] I was like, "Oh [ __ ] that's
what she's been doing."
>> No, she's adopted.
>> That's awesome, man.
>> She was adopted by Italian immigrants in
New Jersey.
>> I think this is going poorly.
>> I know. What do you want?
>> That's going really poorly.
>> I know. What do you want me to do?
>> Well, okay. Do you remember my
suggestion?
>> Yes. What was it?
>> Make it really just a nice quarter pound
patty.
>> Yeah, but I'm already into deep. Look at
these gorgeous colors. I don't know why
I clapped. What a festive what a festive
burger. And I'm so glad you went with
chicken, you know.
>> Yeah,
>> I think the chicken is going to be a
great compliment to all of these
beautiful flavors. You know, we just got
to make sure the healthy people get what
they want. Also, good idea.
>> You know, the non- beef eaters. Tell the
people about the peppers. V.
>> I will. These are fire roasted red
peppers straight from a Trader Joe's
jar. My mom actually buys the shiakei
shiz out of this. And we are going to
add it to our burger. Would you like the
avocado crema on both sides or just one
side?
>> Hm. I think just one side and then we
can put the pepper at the bottom. Kind
of just fold it up like this.
>> So, do you So, do you want to add the
So, I put these on the bottom. I'm so
sorry. No, I'm not I'm not complaining.
So, we'll go crema,
>> red pepper, patty, elote, and then we
will cover and put the hat on.
>> I'm just using my hands. I hope that's
okay with everybody. All the germaphobes
>> and all the people that say your hair's
going to get in the food. It's a cooking
show. It's a show. Emphasis on show.
>> Do you have nails? Yeah. [screaming]
It's got to be feminine sometimes.
>> Yeah. Sometimes I want to be pretty.
Sometimes I have fake lashes on. Do the
fake lashes fall into the avocado crema?
Maybe. But that's none of your business.
>> You know, just make a wish if you find
it.
>> Exactly.
>> You'll be all right. Make a wish. I wish
I didn't have this lash in my avocado
crema. [laughter]
>> You know what I just realized?
>> That this looks good as hell.
>> This looks good as hell, but this looks
dollar menu good. We just made dollar
menu burgers at home.
>> Carl's Junior burgers.
>> Okay. Okay. So, we're Hold on. Let's do
a little assembly line here.
>> Okay. I need a spare. I'll run you down.
I'll run you down. What we're doing,
this is how I would do this at home is
like kind of keep the burgers hot.
They're so greasy. Honestly, I haven't
worked with uh 7327 beef in a long time.
We lost so much yield. No. What the
hell? I said wait for me to tell you
what we're doing.
>> I got excited.
>> I'm lining them up.
>> I got excited. I'm sorry.
>> We're going to make five. We're going to
make five. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, here's
here's what's happening. Here's what's
happening.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> These all I switched them.
>> I don't listen.
>> Okay. Okay. So, we're going to go with
>> I'm going to barbecue sauce both of
these. You're going to go onions on the
bottom first. Oh, interesting.
>> And then the burger patty's going to go
on top of the onions. That way the
onions are going to catch the burger
grease.
>> Okay. Oh, you're a freaky.
>> What? [laughter]
Cool. Okay. So then, nope. Onions go on
top of that. Not the burger patty yet.
The burger goes on top of the onions.
Put that down. [snorts] That's right.
>> Why do I want to just put the burger
down so bad?
>> I'd say go maybe like a little heavier
on the onions.
>> We got to spread them out though.
Everybody needs onions.
>> I got enough onion. Oh yeah. [ __ ] man.
See you. I saw you eating the onions
earlier.
>> I was testing my product for purity like
a DEA agent. I cut into the bag of
onions to make sure it was pure.
>> No, they don't do that.
>> Yeah. So, you would know, huh?
>> Yeah, I do know.
>> Do you watch like cop shows with your
parents and they're just like, "Nah,
it's not real."
>> Yeah. They love to call me after and be
like, "This is so Hollywood, but this is
what really would happen."
>> Your dad has legit been like in the
background though of shows, right?
>> Um Oh my god. Criminal Minds. Yes. Find
Byron Austin's bald head in the back as
a SWAT guy of criminal minds.
>> All right, cool. We're just going to
crown. Dude, these are good ass little
burrs, man.
>> These look gorgeous.
>> It only cost two bucks a piece to make
and we're using pretty much every
ingredient that we got. And I could eat
six of these for a meal. We just got to
build
>> right there.
>> Got to build 20 more.
>> Yeah, let's do it.
>> Let's get to it.
>> Those are pretty dark scallions.
>> Check this out.
Are you impressed?
>> That was pretty cool, man. That was
pretty interesting.
>> We turned the scallions into ash and now
it's going to be a fun little um
>> You know what's crazy? I just really
wanted them to be like roasted a little
bit, but you just went full throttle,
huh?
>> Yeah. Well, I'll tell you what happened.
We forgot they were in there.
>> And also, honestly,
>> this is what I wanted to do the whole
time, but we also forgot they were in
there.
>> Oh my gosh. It's going to turn black.
>> It's going to be beautiful and charred.
>> Okay, that looks good. Actually, I'm
sorry. Sorry for being You're welcome.
You're welcome.
>> We kind of function on the drama you and
>> so we so we decided to pivot. We didn't
do our little cute little Smashburger
idea. And you know what? I'm so thankful
that Josh told me straight up how it is.
And that's why I like love working with
him. Me too. Me too. I want to pretend
like I'm on a sports team.
>> Did it work?
>> It's kind You just kind of look
unckempt,
>> Simba.
[laughter]
>> So we pivoted. said we ended up doing
thicker burgers. We did lacquer it in
the sweet chili sauce. We toasted our
bakery buns.
>> These buns look incredible. [music]
>> They really are.
>> How much do they cost? Like a lot.
>> Eight bucks for four, which means
they're $2 a bun. But, you know,
>> wonderful thing.
>> But, you know, since I did screw up the
meat, we're only doing three.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Happens.
>> And that's my bad.
>> Also, like for real though, if you if
you get Walmart burgers, right, and you
screw up the the cook on one of them,
>> it's not the end of the world.
>> It's not the end of the world. You're at
Arowan. That's like a $12. Screw up.
>> I feel like you got you got to put on
errors when you're dealing with Arowan.
You know what I mean?
>> A one. I know you couldn't let that you
couldn't let the pun go. I've told this
story before, but I'd like to tell it
again.
>> Okay.
>> The first time I went to Arowan, I um
saw a man reading the back of a kombucha
bottle very intently and I stared
closely at the man and I realized it was
Soonian. This is before he and I became
friends, before he came on the show. And
I realized that he was the first person
I ever heard say the [music] word
kombucha in my life. So he wrote a song.
wrote a song in 1998 that starts with
the kombucha.
>> Let's play. Can we sing that or will we
get sued?
Sugar by System of a Down.
Come back after the year 2,100.
[cheering]
>> We made three burgers and they look
good.
>> They do look good. Like this looks like
a really delightful burger.
>> I would pay $18 for this.
>> I
>> Look at the bun. Look at the bun. Look
at the bun. Look at the bun.
>> The bun is great. I If if this was at a
restaurant, if this is at a restaurant,
>> getting a toothpick. Well, at a wine,
that toothpick would cost 12 bucks. So,
this is This is like a fun restaurant
burger. You know what I mean?
>> Oh my god. So much better.
>> You know what would have been awesome
though?
>> What?
>> This is like a double smash burger.
[laughter]
>> Go team.
>> Hold on. Let me make it a little bit
more, you know, pricey. This doesn't
count. Accessories don't count.
>> It's true.
>> Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. How?
$18. $18. [music]
>> Coco Chanel said that every time she
leaves the house, she
>> removes an accessory.
>> Removes an accessory.
>> Yeah, but that's because she has more
than one accessory on. Give me my
toothpick. [laughter]
Is the season to be green.
>> Let's play. Can we sing back or will we
get soo? Popular Christmas song. Deck
the halls.
is public domain.
>> Are we going to get charged for that?
Probably.
>> No way. That song's got to be 102 years
old. Santa Claus is going to sue us.
>> Oh crap.
>> What?
>> We got to put this on eight more
burgers. I've been loading up.
>> Put what? Oh, the corn.
>> Yeah, I got too excited.
>> Extract the corn. Extract from the top
of the burgers.
>> Yes, we will clean up later. Don't
worry. I don't care.
>> It'll be all right. We'll be fine.
>> Okay. Oh my gosh. This is a bird right
here. Hell yeah, Nicole.
>> Beautiful. Sorry, I'm going to give you
high heaven in a second.
>> All right. Look at that. Look at that. F
la.
We're not going to get sued.
[snorts]
>> Wow. [laughter]
Look at all these hamburgers.
>> Look at them all. They're so beautiful.
>> You know what I was trying to remember
is uh look upon my works in despair. Is
that what it was? Is that Aussie Mandas?
I'm the king of kings. Yeah. Yeah. Um,
I'm so hungry. I really miscalculated
when I was going to get to eat
hamburgers. I forgot we had to make them
all and look at them. And so [laughter]
I I cannot think, dude. I need to get a
goddamn hamburger. Be so hard. Can I eat
it right now? Okay. No. Let's look.
Let's go. Talk more. Talk more. 24
hamburgers with almost no loss from
Walmart. The only thing left over was
Stubs. And I'm going to put this on my
own hamburger. So, we have no yield loss
on this. This is a lot. If these burgers
even taste remotely good, Walmart's
going to win again.
>> This is Trader Joe's. My chicken burger,
everybody. We had a a lot of leftovers.
I'm not going to lie. Could have
stretched it maybe a little bit more,
but I think we did well for what we had.
I ended up making three burgers instead
of four burgers because I made a big
mistake. But we had a little other than
the the little mistake that I made. This
is my little mistake I made. No, no, no,
no. I wanted it. Really?
>> I'm so hungry.
>> You today I don't know. So,
>> I don't know what's going on. I have
some of this. I have a little bit of the
little chimmy chur bit and some of the
bun. though. My yield was a lot. Like
financially, like it was a lot of money.
Like maybe like $8. [music]
That's a lot of money.
>> Yeah.
>> Can we eat these hamburgers now?
>> Cheese and rice. Which one do you want
to try first?
>> Yours. Okay.
>> Just give me a whole one. [music] Thank
you.
>> Give me one, too, please.
>> Can I microwave mine?
>> No.
>> No. Just eat it.
>> Ate it,
>> man.
>> I microwave my damn hamburger.
>> This is good.
>> You know what it is? It's very small.
And if I were to get this at a cookout,
I might want to eat more than one. So,
that's something I'm definitely
factoring in. I'm okay with eating more
than one, though.
>> Mhm. You okay?
>> Oh, hell yeah. It tastes like Col
Junior.
>> Yeah.
>> Straight up.
>> Some green.
>> It's a little dry.
>> It is a little dry. Maybe that's what it
is that's throwing me off.
>> Maybe it needs more sauce. Maybe it
needs a lot more sauce.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Well, hey, we got to ration
out the rest of it, dude.
>> Gracias.
>> Thank you.
>> This is good.
>> I mean, it really tastes like fast food.
You know what I mean? And again, these
are It cost us two bucks to make each
one.
serve these at cookout. Eating two,
three, drinking a couple briskies, you
know, throwing some throwing some footy.
>> Mhm.
>> It's a good day.
>> Delicious. Oh, yeah. Let's try mine.
Let's do it. I'm very excited about this
because this flavor combination speaks
to me.
>> This is beautiful, dude.
>> Mhm. M.
>> This is what I love about this is this
is a Trader Joe's burger cuz Trader
Joe's has good products like roasted red
peppers, like that char grilled corn.
I've been buying that brand of fire
roasted corn for like 25 years.
>> You told me that. I cook with that when
I was a kid. Yeah. You know,
>> same with the fried rice. I didn't know
it existed. I just saw the corn ribs all
the time, but now I'm going to get this
one instead.
>> I hate corn ribs. So, they're just the
worst way to eat corn. I can't believe
we we figured that out. The worst way to
eat it.
>> This burger is so bright. Such a happy
flavor. And also, I feel like one gets
you full because there's so much stuff
in it. You know what I mean?
>> This takes a lead over mine immediately.
This is so good, dude.
>> This just does its job.
>> This is good.
>> This is something that you can't get at
a fast food restaurant. This is like a
nice hearty good size.
>> Yeah.
>> It's very like homemade in like a fun
delicious way.
>> Yes. Now, let's try my big kahuna
burger. Kahuna. I haven't heard that
word in a while.
>> Okay.
>> The children for fine.
>> You got to save it. Cut this one too cuz
>> we're feeding other people.
>> I don't I said please cut it.
>> I'm Oh my god. Why are we
>> You have to cut it.
>> Let's play. Can we sing that or will we
get sued?
Cut it by OT Genesis featuring Young
Dolph. Come back after the year 2000.
>> High quality beef.
>> Oh, Nicole.
>> Medium rare.
>> Gorge. Cheers.
>> One simple condiment. This is a good
>> taste. That's a really good burger. I
love it.
>> This is a restaurant burger.
>> Yeah,
>> that's why I said $18. Tastes super
clean and beefy. Grass-fed, organic, I
assume.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Simple condiment on it. Like
>> very nice.
>> This is a really delicious burger. Three
very different burgers.
>> Yeah.
>> Mhm. All well done, though. Good job,
guys.
>> All like Hey, high five, man. We We know
how to cook.
>> So, what are we trying to find here? The
best burger, the most costefficient
burger, the burger we'd eat again. What
are we looking for?
>> Maybe all of
>> which one of these, if you had 50 bucks
and you were faced with three Arowan
burgers,
>> Mhm. 24 Walmart burgers like this or 12
Trader Joe's burgers. Which one would
you rather have for for your 50 bucks? I
I know where my answer is immediately.
>> I know where my answer is.
>> I'm ready. I'm ready.
>> You want to put your hand over the
winning burger in three, two, one.
>> Hey, no way.
>> Really?
>> Nicole,
>> you know what it is? Sometimes you don't
want all the fancymancy stuff on it.
Sometimes you just want a familiar
flavor and you want a lot of it. So, the
quantity quantity beats it out for me
100%. Especially if you're entertaining
or if you're doing like a big cook for a
lot of people, the Walmart option makes
so [music] much sense to me.
>> You know what I have like fond memories
of are my This Check this Nicole. Happy
childhood memory.
>> Okay, I'm ready.
>> We used to throw like pool at our
apartment complex. We used to have like
a the big communal pool and we would
throw like pool parties for me and my
dad wanting to like you know cook for a
larger people buy the cheapest hot dogs,
the cheapest buns and the cheapest large
familysized cans of chili and it is a
great way to just feed a ton of kids.
That's what this is to me. If I'm like
feeding a bunch of hungry kids, I like
fast food. This if I'm making dinner for
my family,
>> this
>> I'm doing trader. If I'm honestly, if if
everyone's out of town,
>> date night. Yeah.
>> If everyone's out of town and I'm alone,
I'm going to arrow and I'm buying some
weird like grass-fed buffalo and I'm
making a strange aventard burger.
>> I agree. You know, but yeah, this to me
v I think you just crushed that. So
good.
>> This is worth the $50%. But if you're
dirty bulking for the summer, trying to
get big swollen that beach and get that
bed fresh up
coming RIGHT AWAY, BABY. [screaming]
>> THIS is a great way to get calories in
your body.
>> Should we share it with the people?
Yeah. Who wants to come eat?
>> Feed some people. What you guys didn't
see me do off camera is I was frying all
the beef burgers and they got really
greasy, so I made gravy. Guys, bring in
the gra. Where's the gravy? [laughter]
>> You made gravy?
>> You guys missed it? I made gravy. Is
that what that white stuff on the
counter was?
>> Yeah.
>> The southern sauce. Bunch of leftover
burger grease and good flavor in the
pan. I make gravy. I leftover milk.
>> I want to dip my burger in gravy. I WANT
TO DIP MY GRAVY NOW.
>> KEEP ROLLING. I'M GETTING THE GODDAMN
GRAVY.
>> I'M GETTING THE GRAVY.
>> 50 BUCKS. WHOLE GODDAMN PAN OF GRAVY.
>> Come on, everybody. It's like fondue
night.
>> Like fondue night. Hot gravy for your
burgers.
>> I'm okay.
>> Is it warm? [laughter]
>> I appreciate it.
>> No, Tony.
>> Is it warm?
>> Warm enough. It's loose. Okay. Come on.
Gravy. Come on, guys. Everyone,

>> No, but that has carbs. This doesn't
have carbs. This is healthy. This is
healthy. [screaming]
>> Josh, remove the carbs.
>> Nicole, what about this? Oh, dude. Did
you ever have a cucumber that's like
insanely bitter?
