over the holidays I showed my family our TV pilot as did I let’s talk about that good morning Chia Lincoln it’s Wednesday January 5th 11 thanks for joining us 2011 I think the 11 thing is confusing right I’m sorry I brought it up wishy-washy 2011 alright so over the holidays we had a big present to take home to our families that’s right right right before Christmas we finished our TV pilot for IFC now it’s beyond us it’s out of our hands we’re waiting to see if they want to pick it up and make it into a television show decisions are being made as we speak I don’t know when we’ll find out something but uh we will keep you posted but I had a DVD highfalutin I’m going to bringing that back because you because you use that word it’s trending a a DVD version to show to my family on my dad’s my mom and dad’s brand-new HD television well it’s a few months old but they got the big HD television you know I don’t know because he’s a dad 97 inches I don’t know how big it is but it’s like almost the entire wall you’re not literally seems that way to me you’re not fully a dad until you have a widescreen HD television congratulations to him well he’s a grandad so he became a dad a long time ago when he had me and my brother not until he got his HD television so I said let’s watch it so I put it put it in and the menu comes up everything’s looking good and then I press play and then I notice hold on it’s playing in 4:3 it’s playing not widescreen this is Square believe it or not we actually shot the TV pilot in widescreen it’s gonna be a widescreen show with cutting-edge futurist 16 by 9 yeah so when I put it into this nice DVD player and nice television I’m like why is it had black bars it wasn’t that it was squished it was actually the original sixteen by nine image and the TV had made the decision to come in and put black bars on the sides just to make it 4-3 to make it traditional it was like it went like this so I began to in your face kind of kind of that’s sort of an approximate even though that was possible that your television could do that well I think the DVD player did it and so I saw you had an emotional reaction I was like I was like I was frustrated is your creation you wanted to be seen as you intended it and so I’m telling my dad I’m like there’s why is it playing like this he’s like what do you mean why does it have black bars on the sides I was like this is not squished it is a sixteen by nine image with black bars over it and then I said hold on dad do all your movies look like this he was like yep this is not good yes okay he’s 64 and then at that moment someone driving by outside blew their horn as it was bad that’s what they call a throwback to a previous episode but you can click over here to watch now we do this every day I was a little every weekday I was a little frustrated but I eventually went and I realized that he had his DVD player his blu-ray widescreen DVD player set up to only play full screen how’s that even for three not widescreen sixteen by nine I don’t know but is that option I think it’s an option for people over 60 that’s a crazy thing but you know when I show the DVD at my wife’s parents house they have your in-laws they have a 4:3 television as did I until a few weeks ago I became fully a man by getting an HD television or dead and yeah gain the father of a utility I yeah I passed into full dad hood and manhood I guess and we got a Google TV here in the office thanks to YouTube yeah that were so we’re totally men now but anyway he’s got the 4:3 television I pop in the DVD and we start watching it and he’s like hold on pause it so I pause it he says can you get rid of the black bars at the top in the bottom mm-hmm I’ve seen I’ve heard about this phenomenon you know I was like well I just said no I want you to see everything that we shot you know but it’s to him it wasn’t about can you zoom it into he wanted to fill his screen and it’s like well I I want you to see everything you know I want you to see it all but I don’t think he realizes that by filling his screen and getting rid of the black bars he’s also getting rid of like 25% of the information right I didn’t I didn’t go into the car it’s a comfort thing I just told him no I couldn’t do it I kind of like just because I didn’t want to get into it but you know I’ll get into it with you guys hi do any of you actually prefer if you have an older television I’m not gonna hold that against you because Rhett you’re still there you’re not a man at home you’re not a dad I’m not a full day I’m a full bed here the office I’m not a dad at home although I do have children do you prefer to zoom in or not televisions do you buy those crappy DVDs from Walmart that say full screen instead of wine yeah they’re there obviously there is a market for people who prefer full screen now full screen we mean you decide your cutoff we mean four by three not sixteen by nine there’s a market for this nice I think it’s a dying market literally we just want to know what you think this is what I think I think it’s like going to the Grand Canyon and saying you know what I only want to see rock I’m gonna keep walking until all I see is like nothing but rock everywhere thank you kind of miss you miss one of the greatest parts of the experience we’re so looking at people are not seeing their ears kind of like you were doing a second ago to me yes it’s like I really want out right I want to see you so I’m only gonna see you you know you don’t have to get that close to me but I could I can do it for you see I can put these just picture my hands are like the blackboard you don’t have to get close I can see up here I can see like the wall I can see this is just an illustration I’m just saying if my nose are right here I would only see like your face it would be like but I would be very uncomfortable and it well so what I’m not saying I wouldn’t be uncomfortable but I’m saying exactly exactly look is actually that’s exactly what I’m saying before we give an update on Chia Lincoln let’s give a quick update on our pilot we just we said we did finish it we’re waiting so don’t bombard us with questions will tell you when we know whether or not the show is going to be a TV show on IFC we hope that it will we’re excited about the opportunity to make one okay yeah we don’t own I see it can be a few weeks it could be may one day a few months it could be a few years it can be never yeah you know we’re just being realistic our selves t Lincoln how are you doing should we start trying to carry on conversations that could get a little old but if you feel led to do it it’s fine I guess no I don’t um well he hasn’t sprouted the bottom line is Chia Lincoln has not sprouted but you know what actually there is see that right there look at that line there’s a little seed see look there’s something white coming out of that see that’s the beginning of a sprout see that oh yeah that’s true there’s a few little sprouting topping but and when I look at this brow from here my mouth is right over the microphone and it gets very intimate sound and creepy okay I’m sorry for being creepy today
